    INGREDIENTS:
    200g caster sugar
    1 vanilla bean
    6 cloves
    1 cinnamon stick
    1 nutmeg
    6 star anise
    1-2 oranges (depends how many garnishes you want)
    1 lemon
    1 lime
    2 bottles of red wine
    100ml spiced rum

      A good punch bowl would call for 4 times the ingredients, with half-again more for after-carolling.

    My German Professor in college was from East Germany and served this to us in school during German club. I had one glass and was it snuck up on me. I am sure, there was more than wine and spices in that glass. Probably rum or some other spirits. From one glass, I went from being coherent, to not being able to walk in the space of two hours. Gotta love the late 80s

      Probably brandy or something more traditional to Germany as rum isn't common there

      The rum was brought to Germany trough The Netherlands. They had a lot of it because of their ‘trading’

    oh my gooodd, we drink mullled wine every single year here, its sold everywhere around the country, but i think this may be the absolute BEST version ive ever seen!

      It was pretty nice editing. The weird thing is that it makes the grammar mistakes all the more aggravating.

    Thank you! We made this in Kigali! When I've made it before, we just threw the wine, fruit and spices in and heated it, but that first step of dissolving the sugar before adding the rest of the wine makes a huge difference. It tastes really good.

    Now, that will warm you! Since my family is from Panama, we o a spicy Hibiscus drin called saril, which is also served with or without rum! It's the perfect drink for a mixed crowd- you can add the rum into the glass after it is made. Also, to go with, fried plantains with avocado dip, fried fish and plenty of cookies! :-)

    Tks for the vid. Am abit confused with the no. of bottle of wine you are using. Is it just 1 or 2? The 2nd pour seems like 1.5 bottle as your indication was quite confusing. If its just one bottle, do I halve the amount of ingredients? Tks

    Yummmm making this! But instead of sugar I will use maple syrup I think as my sweetener. I haven’t decided yet between honey or maple syrup! This looks sooooo magical. Cannot wait to make and serve to my guests.

      +Igor Stankovic seems like he didn't put it in, but I'm sure it will be good with the juices as well. you can probably add a little bit more sugar or honey, if it gets too sour

      Sanerah my thoughts exactly, adding rum (or other spirits) to mulled wine isn't a twist that's just how it's drunk...
