We hope this video is helpful, and you have gained valuable skills about your vehicle! A few things we should have mentioned is always check the car cool, it's never fun working or checking on a hot car. 🔧If you have spanners or sockets on a ratchet, put them on accessory bolts to check if they are loose, but don't over-tighten, this can stretch the bolts and make them weak. Particularly check accessories such as bash plates/UVP, protection bars and roof racks. We wished we put this in the video, but this pinned comment will have to do. This video is intended to give you an idea of what to look for on your vehicle and how to check important mechanical components to familiarise yourself with your 4WD. Let us know if you would like us to go into more detail about anything we showed, or on another subject. Thanks for watching and hope you take these skills and put them to work on your rig!
I have been waiting for this video ever since I saw that you guys provide it as a service on your Mt. Dare videos. My partner and I are just about to go on a trip around Australia and as someone still fairly fresh to car maintenance and DIY, this is is exactly what I need. Much appreciated!
This is exactly what we aim to do, to share our knowledge and help others out. We’re glad you found it helpful, hope it comes in handy for your trip around Australia! 😊
Great vid guys. I've just bought my first ute and have zero mechanical skills, so this stuff is gold. Would love to see a vid of you two having a yarn about your trade experience and how you have gained so much knowledge.
You guys should publish a little book small enough to fit in a glove box with all those pointers. Some more good content would be the top 10 tools to take out bush etc...The common sense cook book. I'd buy it if it was no more than $15. A4 sheets folded in half and stapled. If you made $10 a copy and sold 5000 copies you could insulate your work shop. I know jack about mechanicals, but sure do love my getting out bush and camping. Prevention is better than cure to me.. That was well explained in layman's terms.

Also, check the Bull-bar bolts, all of them.
And roof rack bolts, especially on utes.

very good info
15.47 is that a missing nut on the bolt through the chassis?
Good pick up! That black plate has a captive nut welded into it, bolted on the other side so she's safe. 👍
👍👍👍
