You were and are two of the nicest people anyone could ever hope to meet. Add to that you are so capable and helpful. You saved our group trip, and we're extremely greatful to you both for doing so. It was also super interesting to learn you lead group trips and provide tracks and content to Hema. What a couple of understated Aussie champions. I hope you have great travel adventures after Mt. Dare in your Hilux. I hope you enjoyed the beer. Cheers, Craig (white Prado 150 - brake pads and me cleaning the residual mud of the inside of my Methods with the shop brush).

    This is awesome!
I'm a 30 yr old female who is tiny and just started a heavy diesel mechanic apprenticeship in Sydney, so it's good inspiration seeing another female who knows her stuff! Both of you are legends 😁

Hey Isabella. I’ve been a mechanic for 40 years on the north coast of nsw we got parts delivered twice a day ,I can only imagine your frustration having to wait for a part to finish a job. Having the passion is the only way to keep going as mechanic, well that’s what I found anyway. Good on you guys well done.

Perfect to see lug nuts done to speck rather than a guess like 90% of places do and over tighten the buggers sometimes.

Brought back so happy memories of our several Simpson Desert crossings -Adelaide to Dalhousie and return, both in the dry and the wet, through the 80’s. Had a 1985 Troopie 11 seater brand new with all the extras, one of 10 that came out as a special edition, still got it and getting close to 200k going strong and never let me down. Too old to do those trips now at mid 80’s and just recovering from a 4th back surgery. Did all those many 4WD expeditions speed the wear and tear on me instead of Troopie? Fantastic times. Thanks for sharing your as it happens video-I know all about it and how to be prepared. Greetings from Tasmania Australia 👍😁🇦🇺🦘

I lived in WA Outback abou 12 years back, four hours north east of Kal. We had to make do with what was available cos spare parts was four hours away at Kal. The local tip was known as Mitre 11 cos our first port of call was the tip when in need of parts or bits and pieces. Had a Landrover with a 186 holden six cylinder on the cattle station. No spark, after examination, found it had an aftermarket contactless system on the engine which was producing no spark. Me and my mate visited the local tip. There was a Kingswood HZ with a 202 six cylinder engine, we removed the whole distributor and put it on the 186, Voila, spark and the engine started! Saved us a day driving to Kal for replacement parts and returning.

I got a million questions I'd love to ask you both... maybe a video idea would be to do a Top Ten (or whatever number) of bits of advice you have for folks based off of your repair experiences at Mt. Dare (carrying spares of specific things, lowering your PSI, etc.)?

No shortage of work, if you see how city slickers drive on rough roads, its just utter equipment carnage. Up at Cape York, my dad saw this old guy with a new landcruiser, who had driven it so hard on the rough, the engine bay firewall was cracked clean through from one side to the other, utterly destroyed.

Guys can I say impressive, you are great together and what you have to share is engaging informative and entertaining. My takeaway is maintenance and not just servicing there is a large gap in this particular area currently once upon a time your mechanic was a family friend who was a custodian for your safety and your vehicles maintenance not a franchised wealth creation system owned by a trust or corporation minimising taxation. Sorry, love your work keep doing what you do

They wanted me to skip gears and just use the brakes to stop, don't go back through the gears this was a tad silly to me brake drums wear out and cost a lot of money to replace. Gear boxes can handle a lot of changes. Great job you guys.

I suggest a concrete pad with its own washer and it will need its own water supply + big sign “wash before workshop” I guess the short comings of that plan would be water supply. One day I might make it. What sort of fuel supply do people need to cross the Simpson, I had a friend many years ago that took a 200 L drum for the canning and filled up about half way. Loved the video. I think more people might travel, just to get a decent service.

Tip for when you don't have a tom thumb pump - run a bit of hose from your fluid container into whatever you're filling/transferring to, then put you hand covering the lid of the fluid container and use compressor to blow air into it - it'll force the fluid through the hose.

G’day and greetings from Tasmania, I reckon your channel is like a breathe of fresh air it’s interesting on what mechanical problems you get it shows how hard the outback Australia is on vehicles. I’m 67 and I have subscribed and look forward to following the channel you all have that great sense of humour. Kind regards John
