I just now saw this video. That had to have been one incredible game. I would love to see Lawry, please forgive the spelling, pitch against Canady of Stanford if the years would have matched up. It's mid 70s mph fastballs for both of them. Shay Knighten is a gamer.
I’ve watched this video several times over the years, as well as heard comments referring to it since… All repeating the same phrase, it was Shay Knighten’s home run that won the game for Oklahoma. It irritates me because it basically devalues everything else that happened in that game, including, Nicole Mendez and Caleigh Clifton getting on base. If Shay had hit that home run without those two being on base, Oklahoma would not have won. Even if Caleigh hadn’t been hit by the pitch, Nicole Mendez deserves credit for getting on base and giving Oklahoma that one extra run that they needed when Shay hit the bomb. It also doesn’t take into account the pitching that held Florida to just five runs, the defensive efforts and the rest. I’ve played sports for over 40 years and I get so annoyed when they attribute the winning of a game to one player‘s actions. There’s a reason there is no “i” in team, nor is there a win in just one person’s hands. Oklahoma won that game, not Shay Knighten. As much as I love Shay, those are the facts. BOOMER SOONER!!!
I have to agree and it's good that you reminded people of that it's easy to forget. You win as a team or you lose as team unless you're playing horseshoes lol.
I don't agree that Florida was the better "team," esp considering OU took game two, also, which means game one wasn't a fluke… two of the best pitching staffs I've ever seen.
Boy, these commentators are unbelievable. OU can't do anything right, their opponents can do no wrong. Maybe it's just me, but that's the impression I get. Why don't they have a video called The Program: Oklahoma? They should. If OU's that respected. B.S. After that 16-3 beatdown by UCLA last June in the WCWS final. Everyone's got their view of what programs get too much respect and what programs don't get enough. I guess these commentators think OU is over-respected. Maybe. I mean, the softball program's been around since '75 and only has 4 nattys? Compared to UCLA & Arizona, they don't have anything. After that game 1 beat down in the final last year, I would have forfeited the second game. OU's not respected, at all. These commentators put up such a facade when OU's playing.
" Only 4 titles" lol that's third most in the nation. UCLA and Arizona got the majority of their titles when softball was predominantly a West Coast game. Since 2000 Oklahoma has been the most successful team
I was at the game with SRO tickets. I was on my feet for six hours and loved every minute of it. Boomer Sooner !
Ncaa needs to put softball’s championship series on UA-cam
Terren V yes!!
As long as ESPN owns the TV rights, it won't go on UA-cam live.
One of the best games in any sport I have ever seen. Such tension!
The 1999 Women's World Cup soccer was as thrilling.
11:09 The winning hit for Oklahoma.
11:00 Wow, Shay! 🔥 #17! She knew it!
I never saw a left handed catcher before... A really amazing game
That’s her right hand
@@bailee.and.dalyssia6794 You're kidding right? You THROW with your strong hand...lmfao

I'm sure everyone was glad this wasn't a scheduled doubleheader.
wow a left handed catcher. I used to catch batting practice in high sch. left field in the games
#17 with the game winning home run in the 17th inning 💥
I met Kelly Barnhill in 2019 at my world series and when they said her name I recognized her

Did we win the WS this year?

Me gusta el trio tamaulopeco las Amapolas. Amor Alejandra eres mi niña preciosa
WHO????????
Still stings. Florida was the better team, but Oklahoma just made more plays this series and deserved it.

In All Kinds Of Weather Florida is not better
OU was severely under seeded, they were the defending champs
Then I guess the better team did win.

What n the hell did she show bunty before her swing. So silly
It’s a timing mechanism
@@Anita-yx8vh didn't work so well did it
Worry about your grammar instead of softball strategies that you clearly don’t understand.
It helps timing and puts wind in your swing to hit the ball harder
