This Oklahoma dynasty is just special. Easily the greatest dynasty in all of Softball and in collegiate sports there are very few other programs that compare to it. Just an incredible group of women that Patty Gasso has coached over the years many of them all time great players that have put up number rarely seen in softball. But to me the story of this OU team was Kelly Maxwell. This was easily the weakest pitching staff OU has had in this championship run but it didn’t matter because Kelly Maxwell was work horse who etched her name in OU lore forever. 5-0 with 2 saves and a 1.88 ERA for the entire tournament is just insanely special and OU doesn’t win the title if she doesn’t give them this masterclass. Enjoy this moment of softball history because we very well may never see anything quite like this again.
Maybe......even though, Oklahoma will be moving to the SEC for the 2024-2025 Season and the Lady Sooners start playing in the SEC next March 2025..... OU's path to the 2025 WCWS Tournament certainly will be even tougher facing opponents such as Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, etc. on a regular basis.

Women UConn basketball had a streak of 111 games from 2014-2017. UCLA men’s won from 1967-1973. There are more teams in college that has 4peat and even 5peat. Oklahoma is definitely the best softball team ever but not of all time in college sports.

Patty Gasso should be on sports Mount Rushmore just one of the all time great innovators and icons, definitely the greatest coach the game has ever seen, ala the Nick Saban of softball has a run of dominance that will never ever be matched. What a legendary run for that program and that senior class. 👏👏

@@kaspju21OU could have easily lost to Florida which was a hot team and Texas was ranked 1 for a reason. They were amazing. OU has lost the series and many years knocked out. I live in OKC and they invested millions into this location since the 90s.
If you're going to complain about where it's held, then what about every team that just happens to play a bowl game in their home state? Or say, what about the US Open being unfair for foreign players? Arguably, softball championships would not be what they are today if this state did not step up and put in all they could for this sport and these girls. I would ask that we stop bickering about this college venue and look into bettering the league they can play in after graduating. Even the women's professional softball league is headquartered in OKC. It seems to matter to us here. Sorry!

The clutchness that OU has in the post season is unmatched. This was a very fun and entertaining WCWs. I love to see the development and growth of the sport. Hopefully we can have some more teams next year really challenging the top teams in our sport. I’d love to see more diversity in post season and especially the WCWs in 2025🙏🏼

What a close Game #2 for more of the game and wasn't decided till late in the game. Neither team had a dominant pitcher in the circle tonight and it came down to..... which team would receive the clutch hits with RISP: Oklahoma plus, Super and talented P Kelly Maxwell, was able to come back, third day in a row, to pitch the last 4 outs to close the game and help bring the Lady Sooners, another Softball National Championship! 4th in a Row and 8th overall in school history. HC Patty Gasso and Asst. Coach/Pitching Coach Jen Rocha surely had the better pitching strategy plan than Texas' coaching staff. The 10 OU Seniors on this team finish their OU careers with a National Championship! 😃 The OU future looks great with FR Pickering and Parker returning with valuable experience during the 2023-2024 Season. Watching the Sooners softball team this year was some of the most enjoyable time I have spent. I really will miss the seniors, They are very, very special people. OU has set the standard that all other teams need to follow. Watch them play, they play hard, they play with excellent fundamentals and they don't make mental mistakes. Texas was getting caught playing soft, not being ready to throw to prevent runners tagging, being picked off 1st base for no reason, just mental mistakes that cost them runs. OU plays like champions and is prepared every game. You want to beat them? Then change how you practice and change how you prepare. You can't wait for OU to beat themselves, because they never will.

Oklahoma caught a Florida team on a heater that could do no wrong, particularly at the plate. When that happens against a team of the gators’ quality, anyone but OU would have been sent home. What a comeback that was to send the Sooners to the finals where it simply overpowered the horns. What an amazing run!

Go SOONERS!! My unsung hero, #82 HODGES was at it again: That dbl-play to end the 1st inning was outrageously outstanding! OU P #17 came in and pitched to one person, and closed out the inning. MAY came in, finished the 6th, setting the table for MAXWELL. With God in her hip pocket, whiffs and wishes were all that Texas had. Sensational OU seniors, we will miss you! Thank you, Matt for an outstanding season! I couldn't wait for it to start and because of your work, I enjoyed every minute of it until the end.

For those not wanting to celebrate greatness, here’s your “pick your fighter” guide to hating: (1) It’s unfair that WCWS is played in OKC and should be moved (note: be sure to leave out OSU’s poor WCWS despite “home field advantage” and don’t mention that Devon Park is 2.5x bigger than the next biggest stadium and was built and began hosting the WCWS many years before OU was good. Also don’t mention that OU had a lopsided losing record in WCWS games until about a decade ago). (2) OU players celebrate too much. How dare they show emotion! (3) The umps blew ___ call(s) that was clearly the reason OU won. (tip: be sure to only mention bad calls that went in favor of OU, not those against) (4) OU was already too good, and now with NIL and the transfer portal, how can anyone compete. They would never win if they could not get the best players off of other teams (hint: don’t mention that many great players transferred out from OU too including SEC POY Jocelyn Erickson and last year’s WCWS MOP Jordy Bahl) (5) OU’s dominance is killing the sport. No one will want to follow it when only one team wins the championship year after year (tip: be sure not mention that the popularity of college softball has increased dramatically and is at an all-time high)
Gasso used the pitching staff like a scalpel to just completely dismantle the Texas bats! I do wish SJ could have come in for at least a few pitches but no complaints; our pitchers just totally dominated in the end. And Texas came through with their usual mental errors and playing errors to help us out with number 4 in a row!!
It's the little things: Avery Hodge tagging up to take third with the UT CF on her heels not ready to throw; Atwood nonchalantly tossing the ball back to the pitcher thinking it was the third out; Mia Scott's cheeky, but boneheaded baserunning - executing when it matters with the game on the line - that's why there is only ONE Oklahoma, baby. Great team victory.
Am I the only one suffering from OU softball withdrawal?! I keep looking to see who we are playing next, what their record is and is the game broadcast!! Still can’t believe it’s over for this year and the next time we watch OU softball they will be an SEC team!!

Enthusiastic players showing their emotions on every phase of the game no matter how big or small. Brito is one of the Senior leaders of the team and she puts her heart and soul into every moment.

All we heard from Texas fans entering the tournament was how a team that’s not won much of anything is gloating about their precious #1 ranking after a couple of regular season wins against OU before losing the Big 12 tournament and then getting swept aside in the championship series. There are fans on both sides that act with grace in both victory and defeat, but seeing the loudmouth minority on Texas’ side having to eat crow yet again is quite fun to see.

My unsung hero, #82 HODGES was at it again: That dbl-play to end the 1st inning was outrageously outstanding! OU P #17 came in and pitched to one person, and closed out the inning. MAY came in, finished the 6th, setting the table for MAXWELL. With God in her hip pocket, whiffs and wishes were all that Texas had.

For those not wanting to celebrate greatness, here’s your “pick your fighter” guide to hating:
(1) It’s unfair that WCWS is played in OKC and should be moved (note: be sure to leave out OSU’s poor WCWS despite “home field advantage” and don’t mention that Devon Park is 2.5x bigger than the next biggest stadium and was built and began hosting the WCWS many years before OU was good. Also don’t mention that OU had a lopsided losing record in WCWS games until about a decade ago).
(2) OU players celebrate too much. How dare they show emotion!
(3) The umps blew ___ call(s) that was clearly the reason OU won. (tip: be sure to only mention bad calls that went in favor of OU, not those against)
(4) OU was already too good, and now with NIL and the transfer portal, how can anyone compete. They would never win if they could not get the best players off of other teams (hint: don’t mention that many great players transferred out from OU too including SEC POY Jocelyn Erickson and last year’s WCWS MOP Jordy Bahl)
(5) OU’s dominance is killing the sport. No one will want to follow it when only one team wins the championship year after year (tip: be sure not mention that the popularity of college softball has increased dramatically and is at an all-time high)

Gasso used the pitching staff like a scalpel to just completely dismantle the Texas bats! I do wish SJ could have come in for at least a few pitches but no complaints; our pitchers just totally dominated in the end. And Texas came through with their usual mental errors and playing errors to help us out with number 4 in a row!!

Great team victory.

All we heard from Texas fans entering the tournament was how a team that’s not won much of anything is gloating about their precious #1 ranking after a couple of regular season wins against OU before losing the Big 12 tournament and then getting swept aside in the championship series. There are fans on both sides that act with grace in both victory and defeat, but seeing the loudmouth minority on Texas’ side having to eat crow yet again is quite fun to see.
