Back in the day when you could actually get under the hood and do your own work with a basic set of tools, and if you didn’t have an ear for it, a timing light,
Beautiful car . For me the only downside are the wheels. I know you had to go with for brake clearance. But just not to my taste. Gorgeous tuxedo paint and perfect original interior. I love this 57 .
Thanks. Yeah I know the wheels are one of the more controversial parts of the car. It all boils down to personal taste. Dad built it just they way he wanted.
I personally am into 1990 Japanese tuner cars but if anything I want this There's nothing like a big block V8 rumble and this is the biggest big block I've seen
Wow that is awesome!! Just joined your page 63 year old Car Punk. 1st car 66 Chevelle SS Red, Black Bucket Seats with a console. I was 15 years old and hid it from my Parents. Put the car in my Older Sister's boyfriend's name. Became popular really fast. Been a car Punk ever since. That 57 Chev you have is my favorite car ever. I was born 1957....
Absolutely beautiful car. Wonderful job on it from bumper to bumper. Some saying, "Well, I would have done this or done that." It's your baby, and your $$$$$ and it's done with your preference from top to bottom. Thanks for showing my DREAM CAR! My uncle bought one off the showroom floor when I was born in 57. A coupe big block. I remember it was a beautiful yellow with white fins. And he always kept it in his garage. I was 13 when he passed away, his son got the car, and my cousin the dumbass traded it for a 16' fishing boat with a 40 hp Johnson. He had no idea what a gold mine of a car he practically gave away.
The "you'll kill your engine without an air cleaner" gang cracks me up every time. You can log thousands and thousands of street miles without an air cleaner- won't wear down cylinder walls, rings, or valves. At all. Zero. None. Nada. Zip. If you're off-roading, then heck yes an air cleaner. The little bit of dust and crude you see on street engine old air cleaners when divided by hundreds of thousands of cylinder cycles = zero engine wear on the street. My opinion comes from building street and off road engines for many years. PS- super sweet ride you have.
Looks like mine back in 85 but with polished Americans. I love that interior and did mine in 80 and its pretty much held together for 40 years. The best color combination besides Matador Red. 20 years ago I decided that setting around car shows was not cutting it so I've been drag racing Miss Crazy since.
That is one beautiful car, in both looks and sound! A truly stunning example of a '57 Chevy. I know red with white alcoves is the standard color, but I've always been fond of black and this car proves just how good black can look on a classic car!
Pro street or pro touring like this one, I've yet to see a car that looks more badass than a 57 Bel Air, this coming from a ford guy. It looked cool as hell sitting at the stop light towards the end of the video.
Dude that thing is so awesome! My next fun car is going to be something like this that I can drive every day during the summer. I’ve been watching 55 to 57 Chevys for a while and just waiting patiently....
It's an awesome build. Love the metal smithing on the air induction with AIR CLEANER. ;-) Only thing I'd do different is ditch the long shift lever and move it all back toward the seat a few inches. Make a cutout in front of seat if needed. That long lever and position just seems way wrong for that kind of horsepower.
Awesome build I truly enjoyed the video . I have a 63 I’m restoring myself I just cut my floor pans out ready to put them in and after that is my straight 6 to a 327 . I want your big block sweet all the chrome and only 1000 miles lol I would have that bad boy out all the time on weekends lol awesome build my friend the stance is beautiful love it 👍
This is the car that started it all for me, just absolutely beautiful ! Thanks for the update, and I will start on my rebuild soon - my 57 Belair is sitting in a barn down in NC waiting for my retirement.....
Have a 632 on the way for my 57 buick what stall did you go with (brand)? Was concerned about going to high with 3800 for street driving. You built a bad ass car
@@nikolasstankovic6794 technology has brought us a long way though. A 1957 Chevy from the factory was almost ready to be retired at 80,000 miles. Today we are seeing gas engines not needed a tune up until they hit 100,000 miles, and vehicles are running for 300,000+ miles with owners that watch and replace fluids and don’t trash them otherwise. It would be nice to have a car that doesn’t rust out in 5 years up north though.
@Troy Benson the car we are looking at is a restomod, not an original 1957. I don’t know if I can say that I daily drive any vehicle, but the 2015 Tesla Model S I drive is boring. Too much tech, but at the same time, very reliable, very powerful, superior to any car Ive ever own. I also drive a 1994 Mustang, which used to be my daily driver since 1998, but I’m lucky to put 2000 miles on it a year now, simply because I don’t drive as often in any vehicle as I used to. The car is loads of fun, even if it’s not as safe, reliable, or powerful as the Tesla. I also have a 1967 Triumph GT6, which is 10 years newer than this Bel Air, and no, I would NEVER daily drive that. For one, it isn’t a restomod like this 57 is. It has no AC. So when it left me and my 6yo daughter stranded in 105 temperatures, it was probably 120 degrees in the cabin. It also doesn’t have the modern collapsible steering column that this 57 now has, so if I end up in a front end collision, that steering wheel will be what kills me. The tires are 6 inch wide, so, really, 5 inches of tread. And if I take a corner too fast, that’s 1-3 inches of tread depending on what the rear leaf spring wants to do. Pray I don’t hit a bump. This 57 has modern wheels, with modern suspension. The 57 is safer than my 67, and minus the airbags, probably as safe as my 94. Driving the 94 mustang on the highway is scary. I do it, but not often as I used to, if I can avoid it. I wouldn’t even dream of driving the 67 Triumph on the highway, ever. It’s just too small next to all these insanely huge SUVs and trucks everyone keeps buying. Driving it on public roads is pretty scary. But if people can ride motorcycles on it, I shouldn’t have problems in a car. The 57 is much smaller (height-wise) to modern vehicles, so that really would be my only issue with daily driving a restomod 57. I LOVE the bench seat, but I’d imagine not having any bolsters, being a little uneasy in turns. DEFINITELY would need seatbelts if I had one. ...on any car, really.
Thanks. Nothing was done the the body. If the rear tire was any taller, you need to unbolt the coilover to drop the rear-end far enough to remove the wheel.
Why does the sound of a muscle engine put a smile on your face everytime you hear it.
It do.
I'm 73 yrs. old and I always wanted a 57 Chevy, this is a real beauty.

@Jerry Kayson Lately I have been using Flixzone. You can find it on google :)
@Jerry Kayson i would suggest flixzone. You can find it on google =)
THANK YOU for leaving the hood intact.
Finally. A Florida Man video that isn't weird and doesn't end badly.
the sound of a big block could put me to sleep every night
That's what SHE said.
I’m 74 now and back in the day I had a royal blue one. I miss that baby and the days back then when these cars were fun to own.

She's beautiful. Good job on the build.
My grandmother had one of these beauties when I was about 3-4. Funny the things you remember. Same color. She had a heavy foot as well.

I absolutely love this car. Thank you for the update video!

Yep, you might clog the air bleeds in your carb occasionally, but that's about it. It doesn't hurt the engine at all.
Shhhhh....you'll wake the air cleaner comment crowd....

Very nice- the Art Morrison chassis that just sets the stage baby.

The coolest car to ever touch blacktop I will have a 57 before I die! Beautiful job!
Super nice good looking ride. Good video of it also.

High end build for sure.
Not crazy about the rims I live 2 miles on a gravel road so I would have to rent a storage unit to put it in. Other than the rims, I do like the car.
That's one nasty '57! 👍👍
What gearbox and rear end are you using with this? I like the way it just hauls even with low revs.
Its a full manual reverse valvebody th400. Rear is a ford 9 inch from strange with 3.73 ratio

this has more displacement per cylinder than a lot of cars in Europe
