To be fair in the intervening 2 years you did rebuild your workshop to stop it falling down a hillside🤣 glad to see you getting back to the bandsaw👍
Plus he restored a four wheel drive Chevy square body including rebuilding the engine and repainting the entire truck. Beautiful job also. I really enjoyed both of those series.
That is the one project many of us have been waiting for. I know because a lot of the viewers have been asking for it. Good to see it come up.💫
I remember loading that saw and the grinder up for them to go to a great home. 😊
Great to see you moving forward on this old saw again. Always look forward to visit with you any time at all my friend.
That saw is built like a Tank! Look forward to seeing it getting restored and working to its former glory and perhaps even better!
Windy Hill Foundry! I'm sure Clark would be happy to recast that missing blade guide adjustment knob. Great to see you back on the saw after: Shop repairs, drill press, mill rebuild, C10 rebuild and now Jonny cash - Gotta keep the Longhaired General Happy ;) - Mick Curry
Good to see you get back on this project. I'm sure a lot of us remember the start of this task and the very large effort to restore a bit of history. Keith Rucker is grinning a little bit now that the effort continues. You have earned our respect over the last few years with making the best of every situation as it presented itself to you. Thanks,, George from Indiana
Finally, this is the project that got me to start following this channel!🎉🎉
This is the project that was going when I discovered this channel. Cool to see it being re-visited.. 👍👍
This is the project that first brought me to this channel. Nice to see it finally coming back to the forefront!
Woo hoo! I remember all the previous videos for this project. Can't wait to see it all up and going.
Steve Somers on Friday and Saturday boy am I blessed🤗
Great to see the saw getting attention again. Can't wait to see the progress and end result. Thanks for brining it back.
I am so pleased your back on the DoAll bandsaw. I started watching your channel in the early days and I've been looking forward to you finally getting back to this beast.
Steve after cleaning up your cast iron, prior to painting, give a coat of boiled linseed oil. Dry it off with a plumber's blow torch. My father worked in a joinery shop after WW2 which was unheated. The old woodworking machines had to be serviced every 6 months. Any requiring a re-paint were stripped back to bare metal. Cast iron is porous and even blasting doesn't get it completely free of rust. The boiled linseed oil will seal the metal prior to painting, so less likely to rust under the paint. BLO was an ingredient in old paint, so it will take a priming coat. Wish you well in your DoAll restoration.
Looking forward to it. I thought you had given up, It’s good to see you picking this back up again.
I'm so happy to see this project back. It was a real favorite back in the day! I'm looking forward to the rest. DoAll FTW!
Awesome, I miss the do-all bandsaw. Interesting project
It's good to see this project coming back. I'm looking forward to seeing it come together and run.
I would have to paint it the oem color. Its a real historical machine to be proud of.
Great Update on the DoAll Band Saw..
Watched all of the videos on it from the beginning..😊
I forgot how massive that thing is. Glad to see this project back.
I'm so glad you're back onto the DoAll saw. This is the kind of project that drew me to your channel.
I jumped in and started following you right after you mothballed the saw. You have accomplished soo much since. Glad to see you finishing what you started. I decided to never start a project until all my others are finished. It’s the only way to stay up to date. Cheers
Be thankful it doesn't require a software upgrade and a msg saying ' item is over 3yrs old, upgrade not available '.
I've been a fan for a long time, and so I've always wondered about this saw. It will be fun to see the future progress, and inspiring for me and my projects! You really have a beautiful back yard and some great animals too.
Two videos in two days! I enjoy every minute. Thanks for sharing your time and excitement , God Bless
Steve, You are a honest, humble, self -effacing and hard working man. I don't think anyone stands in judgement and all have great respect for you, as I do.
And an amazing welder!
Steve had an extra cup of coffee before filming.
Lol it took me 20 minutes of intense searching to find your channel again after a break from machining videos, but finally I'm HERE.
Do you all do it all we’re ready carry on Mr. Summers I remember when you first got it I’ve been that kind of a fan
Glad it's back! There's some good content in the old bandsaw videos
Come on Steve we want to see the DoAll Horizontal saw back in operation!
Great news Steve! Thanks for sharing
Finally the saws back!!!
You have to go yellow and blue agian, I believe that what's the original colors...
Aww heck!
I thought this was long gone :D :D
Thanks for bringing it back!
Oh Steve, you are _such_ a tease 😂
I started watching your channel when you worked on this saw, and then Peanut joined and Elizabeth did Peanut-dressage ;) and you were back and forth into your workshop for sleeves and bushings, and it was wonderful.
Then the shop needed doing, of course it did, and it was great to watch, especially when your dad came to help!
But I thought “when the shop is good, he’ll go back to that monster…” but no, you brought in a vertical one instead. And then rebuilt an entire pick-up truck. Pillar drills, two of. Surface grinders, one or two. And occasionally I’d ask about the DoAll, and you either just smiled or ignored it. So I thought “he’s not gonna do that kind of full, hard restoration any more, he’s different content creator now…. maybe he let the thing rot completely, maybe he just can’t face it, maybe he accidentally lost it down the hill…
And here you are, almost casually, bringing it back out.
Respect, man. You know how to mess us about 😊
It was Peanut, wasn’t it? Good name for a bandsaw….
OMG I was worried the DoAll was not coming back, so happy to see the return! Also, need some more opossums to handle those tics!
Steve, you made my day resurrecting this project.👍
Had wondered about that saw. I only caught the tail end of you working on it. I was introduced to your channel just before the shop overhaul. I enjoy the rebuilds, that’s my jam. Take some old wore out machine and give it new life. 👍👍
can't wait for the next episode of the bandsaw
My dad made me cut my own switch. I was smart enough to get the smallest I could find, which hurt even worse, lol. But I learned quickly not to race the tractor around the yard. Great to see the bandsaw resurrected.
I can't imagine old Ron getting a whipping. He's a Sunday school teacher.
Just something interesting to think about for you creek bank!
Nice to see the saw series being resurrected 😁
Daisy zoomies are awesome!
I think a brown and gold DoAll bandsaw to match that squarebody would look sweet! 😂😂
Cutting a fresh switch to get a whuppin with reminded me that when I deserved it as a youngun, I had to cut my own switches. If I cut one that was too flimsy and it broke, I had to go get another one and start over. 70 years later, it has become evident that I survived and maybe learned something about strength of materials. Perhaps that's why I became a mechanical engineer.
Awesome! You were just starting on this saw when I first found your channel. Ah, youth 😁
ALRIGHT!!! it's back,,, thanks Steve I loved that pile of scrap
Loved the walk around Steve and the do all saw I remember well that's what got me hooked on your channel keep up the great content! Best from UK🇬🇧
Enjoyed the restomod first time around looking forward to the next installment
Your motor that's "shorted" is probably just a bare wire touching the frame of the motor somewhere. Especially check around the capacitor and the junction box for rubbed through wires. Years ago, my dad had a cement mixer like that - you'd get a shock from it if it was running. I took the cover off the capacitor, and the wire was completely rubbed through and contacting the case. A little electrical tape and heat shrink later, and it was actually safe to use again (after being a shock hazard for who knows how many years)
I’m with you, I’d rather rebuild an older piece of equipment that will last a lifetime than buy some cheap planned obsolescence piece of junk! You have the tough stuff already done! Looking forward to seeing it put back in action!!
Ticks can travel on the front of a rain storm. A 10 pm summer rain of cold drops caused the Williams Grove, PA sprint car dirt track feature ending event. The fan in front of me wiped the drops away as they intenfied, finding 4 ticks were mixed with the front.
Next year the same occured with me in the same seat one row from the grandstand top with 3 ticks. So much for ticks dropping down on their victims.
Can’t wait to see it make chips and on another note there’s definitely a shaggy from Scooby doo in your voice when you were talking to your dog love it Steve keep up fantastic work 👍
Ticks are a tasty snack for chickens. A couple of egg makers roaming the forest should help with your problem.
Nice saw! I had one like it.. Cuts fantastic.. Looking forward to the restoration
I'd forgotten about that project.
Muriatic Acid maybe reduced a bit with a respirator and some gloves, and that rust will be a breeze to remove. I do that all the time and it is now my favorite method vs sandblasting or wirewheel.
Good morning all from Lincolnshire UK 🇬🇧
A little squeal of happiness! 😆
I have been waiting a long time!
That dog is a woods loving fool!
I have been waiting for the return of this saw, its been a long time!
nice Steve and as always a great video
All you need for the saw base/frame is a 500 gallon tub of Evapo-Rust. Maybe they would sponsor that ....
Thrilled to hear about the saw. Love your videos. Enjoying Jonny Cash.
Not a graveyard. They are just acclimating to shop conditions! Always good to let project pieces acclimate before continuing with a project! Keep up the good work!
Cast iron likes to rest is the weather with cycling temperatures to relieve internal stresses. That's why it was setting beside the creek for a while. It was just relieving itself.
Steve, if you need a heavier duty tarp, look on the various venues in your area for a billboard cover, or tarp. They are 7 mil thick, and made to last 20 years. Outdoor advertisers may have some available if you call them, or stop by. They have lighter duty ones that are similar to the green or silver ones you have, but should hold up for 2 years and both types are sunlight resistant.
I remember bcbloc02 give it to you a good friend.
Glad to see the return of the DoAll saw
YES!!! hehe, how long has it been? Much digging and breaking rocks, One concrete floor, a block wall, a roof, a compressor and it's lean too, many visits from Al, beautiful sliding door/windows and shingles, bank erossion mitigation and drainage, a truck! A Truck! (I say that twice because it was also a big job and done in depth)... So many shared experiences Steve and I know I am forgetting things. Yet I bet many of us remember the arrival of that saw on that wet and dreary day, thinking, 'what a piece of junk!' until you put us right and showed us what a unique and worthy machine it once was and you made us believe that it would be once again ;) Good on ya mate!
This episode was a good one. Kora being a dog, your nervous Ticks and even some whipping... And a stroll up the river. Next thing we know and we'll be over at your folks place planting the corn.
All the best brother. Pete.
You were wondering what all those parts where when you put the truck panels back there I bet.
I've been having tick issues the last 10 years. As a kid I rarely got more than a couple ticks while playing in the woods. Now I barely touch tall grass and get dozens. The worst have been the chiggers. If I get one on me, there's another hundred I haven't noticed yet. A few years ago I got covered in them. Couldn't get them all off even after multiple showers and swims.
IT IS BACK 🎉🎉🎉
Glad to see you back on the bandsaw.
Hey Steve. I remember the bandsaw project well. Doesn't seem like 2 years ago. I'll bet, if you wanted to, you could machine a new knob for the blade guide, out of steel. It doesn't look like a terribly complex piece. Would make a good video, but obviously, would take some time. Thanks for the video! Nice to have a bonus 2 videos in one week!
So many projects that had to be done in the time since you last worked on the saw… Hard to believe how long it has been.
I've been waiting for the return of this project. This is the one that brought me to the channel.
Glad to see you getting back on this saw. I've watched all the videos and was disappointed that you stopped for awhile. I'll be watching all the updates for thos!
Good Vlog Steve. The creekbed is nice and I can relate.
Saw project reserrected! So great.
Two great videos. Was a little surprised to see you on a Friday. A twofer this weekend. Thanks for all you do n share. You really are comfortable in front of the camera. Always a good time.
Thanks for always watching the videos.😁
Look forward to you every Saturday. Anything else is a bonus. Just keep doing what you do, cause you do it very well. I learn alot and am very entertained. Thanks for everything.
@@mdvener Thanks buddy
Lol Thanks steve! Should have went with the car antenna,
Good Stuff
You should build a shed over that saw.
So back on it at last Steve! Mind you you've had one or two things to do in the meantime like shore up the creek bank with tons and tons of concrete and rebuild literally half of the shop AND re roof it as well, then rebuilding the square body Chevy from the ground up! Plus a few other things lol. Will you clean up the main body of the saw using your sandblasting attachment to the power washer? I think as long as you cover up some of the stuff you've already repaired, that would be a quick way to get all the old paint and rust off from the castings. Looking forward to watching the progress on it. Cheers from the UK
The Replace All - Do All. 👍👍
Castor oil in a sprayer to get rid of ticks is what google said. Best non-toxic why to rid your yard of ticks. For dark shadow areas where they hide.
There are ways to mitigate erosion on the bottom of a creek. If you put down ridges where debris can collect the debris that builds up between the ridges will have to erode away first before it can further erode the creek bed.
They do something similar is mining dump trucks. Rock will get caught in the wash board pattern to slow the wear rate of the dump bed.
Concrete curbs work alright for it and you can sometimes get a bunch at a concrete dump site.
We all end up with back burner projects. Stuff happens and you gotta shift gears in life. I'm glad that you're getting back into it. However, I question the need now, outside of channel content. I look forward to seeing it complete all the same.
Man, I know it is a lot of work, but you really should put some playlists of your projects together. I would love to watch everything you did on this saw, but its a lot of content to search through. Anyway, great video as always!
Good to see a pre W/Shop rebuild project return for completion, I did think it had been scraped/rejected.😉👌.
@ 19:43 Have U ever considered 2 take a Bako Digger down in2 the creek;...
2 move some of those big heavy rock 2;...
Shaw Up The Creek Sides while there is little 2 no water flowing...
...
B4 U end up down the "Creek Without a Paddle"...
Good morning to you and yours. That round to it gets everyone sooner or later. That old saw was built to last forever with good maintenance the new half ass stuff is built to sell cheap and spend lots on spare parts then throw away
Like i said before Do all great PRODUCT, STILL USED Today to "outfit" every ship that is built to make machine shops in their maintenance spaces. so parts service is still available. they still support service ones in use.
Nice work
When you were doing the shop I was thinking you would do a small cut in the uphill side of the shop and build a shed roof to give you a good sized covered outdoor work space. Be a good place to keep something like that big band saw.
Whatever it is with removing a tarp.... It generates same frequency vibrations as the Native Indian rain dance does.
Oh Mr Bandsaw, how I missed thee.
Also, dogs are the best.
I forgot how big that thing is I really enjoyed those videos
I remember that saw as a big heavy yellow and blue rust bucket, I hope
it will run again as new. Knowing you it will take time and dedication,
but run it will I'm sure.
