Good on him for being above that. At some point, wannabe tough guys like Steven Seagal elicit more pity than anger or humor, at least if you interact with them personally. A former "friend" of mine was like this, trying his hardest to front as a badass when all he ever did was talk a bunch of smack on people when he thought they were out of earshot, then folding when the rubber met the road. I had enough misplaced faith that one day he'd grow up, but he never did. Some people's egos are so massive that they become utterly detached from reality. They're like retarded robots doomed to repeat an errant line of code for eternity.
@@anthonyhavens3846 You'd lose your money. Unless you're betting he's going to "win" a choreographed exhibition. Akido doesn't work in practice. It looks good in movies.
He still grew up and learned his ability in Bridgeport. When they ask him where he is from He clearly says Bridgeport he’s never says Bridgeport by way of Brooklyn.
This tells a very straight up story about ego, fear, respect and danger. The people that are the most dangerous are usually the ones that aren't the ones you see or hear about everyday. They are your trashmen, your teacher or personal trainer. It's not the drunk guy at the bar, the pimp with 50 hoes with black eyes, jailbird with murder all over his record, or the chick that has a history of destroying her exes property. Showmanship doesn't equal ability. It just equal lack of discipline and riskiness.
Disagree. Skill does not equal danger. Someone with criminal convictions for unprovoked violent assault is more dangerous than a random karate black belt. Danger has to do with lack of inhibition, unpredictability and predatory instincts. Could that black belt in karate mop the floor with the violent criminal in a karate tournament or even a fair one on one fight? Yes and probably. But who is like to bash your head in with a bottle in a bar while you are minding your own business? Its not the karate black belt. Emotionally stable with skills in fighting aren't a risk for unprovoked assault. Violent criminals with neuro-disorders are. I get people like to romanticise martial arts sometimes, but it's not people going to dojos that you generally need to worry about.

Van Damme actually did compete. Not saying he's elite level UFC caliber by any stretch but he is or at the very least was a fighter. Acting pays a lot more and you're less likely to get as fucked up. So why be stupid and become a fighter when you can earn so much more by acting. It's an easy choice.
MJW feels exactly like your comment says. I'm a fan of MJW but I disagree with his comment about JCVD. Both competed in karate tournaments when they were younger. JCVD actually has a kickboxing record professionally & MJW has no professional record. Bruce Lee & MJW have the same philosophy. Both can fight for real, neither had a pro record, both had good physiques & are accomplished martial artists. So both could sell toughness on the silver screen without having to fight for real. Because like you said, making movies is more profitable & less dangerous than real fighting.

Spoken like a true warrior because I hate losing but I always strive to be better afterwards
Everybody trying beat Steven's ass vicariously 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
Best use ever of the word vicariously.
Steven is a old man now. I'd still put my money on Steven. But I'm a big white fan also
@@anthonyhavens3846 You'd lose your money. Unless you're betting he's going to "win" a choreographed exhibition. Akido doesn't work in practice. It looks good in movies.
@1:58 he’s so on point with his impersonation of a director having those conversations 😂😂😂the lookback and everything 😂😂😂
I respect this dude a lot and he’s from my hometown Bridgeport CT ‼️💪🏾
By way of Brooklyn
Brooklyn. He grew up in bridgeport. I ve heard it from the actor when I met him at the premiere of black dynamite in 2009 in Bloomfield CT
He still grew up and learned his ability in Bridgeport. When they ask him where he is from He clearly says Bridgeport he’s never says Bridgeport by way of Brooklyn.
Brooklyn in the 🏠 first
Had he been from Brooklyn he would of been a drug dealer and a rapper.
Man this dude is a true martial artist. He’s seems to be very disciplined especially in these interviews where they try to bait someone into saying something based on what someone else said. He was tactful and know it would always be a mistake to talk shit in the situation because it would a disadvantage for him.
I respect that stance I don't like Steven segal but it's not honorable to just hurt him without provoking him
Black Dynamite is one of the BEST MOVIES of all time....real talk. Funny, action and irony rolled up in a script full of messages.
Producers out of control for that 😂😂 they wanted MJW to f**k Segal up
This interview answered my question on why MJW isn't a even bigger movie star... and it gave me a much bigger respect for his decision to NOT sell out to Hollywood. 💪
Much respect to this man for always being the bigger person. A lion doesn’t have to prove himself to a mouse. We all know jai white would destroy seagull
Much respect for this man.
Michael is humble and a amazing human being!!
Humble? He told the "world" he would beat up Bruce Lee. You call that "humble"?
@@Katzenhase Michael Jai White claimed that he could have and not would have defeated Bruce Lee. Your beloved Seagal isn't humble and is disgusting person, beacuse he is friends with Putin and he has been talking trash about Michael Jai White and Bruce Lee.
@@cezaryswitek6269 He never talked trash about Bruce Lee. Do your research. He said he loves Bruce Lee. He only said that Bruce Lee wasn´t the best fighter ever and that´s the truth. He badmouthed Michael Jai White because White did the same.
Respect for MJW. A true man doesn't have to prove himself.
M.J. White is a true martial artist with the noble attitude.
I can’t believe Michael Jai White isn’t a bigger star, he’s much better than Steven, and has morals, respect and a million times more talent. This Man is awesome!!
Seagal had to run and hide in Russia and leave behind a ruined legacy because of his shit behavior over the years being outed. Good riddance to him, glad we still have MJW.
I respect this dude even more for being better than he needed to be.
Man needs to be cast in more visible roles.
Better? He is praising himself throughout the whole interview while bashing others them not being fighters while mjw and zito are lol. He is playing a role here, the humble strong lion, who could beat up everyone, but he would never do that, because he is better than everyone. Could would should hood guy.

This guy is one of the best... criminally underrated
Michael Jai White is the greatest fighter I've NEVER seen fight...ANYBODY...EVER. I'd like to see him and Tyson Bedford go at it
I promise 😂😂😂😂😂
There’s clips of him on UA-cam when he was still a teenager doing point fighting. And he’s spars with martial art guys, they all vouch for him. He just never did MMA professionally and it makes sense because by the time he became profitable the man was in his 40s.

Dude is so humble😂. He is likable though.
🤣🤣🤣 In his head
He had a whole bunch of karate fights
Yeah I'm confused.
@@thomasrobertson6175are any of those documented? I still remember when Vlad brought up Van Damme and MJW said he’s not a real fighter yet he actually has a record. MJW seems cool but sometimes he’s so full of himself
He's trained quite a few MMa fighters for the last 2 decades from what I understand.
Michael Jai White is an underappreciated national treasure.
I’m really glad I watched this interview. It’s nice to see him reject the shady Hollywood behavior and let them know he’s a legit professional👍🏻 Kudos MJW
The world needs more guys like this.
Michael Jai White is such an awesome guy, he always has been humble and never had to sell you on how tough he is! Very principled and he easily gets respect because he has honor and integrity. Seagal is the other end, he constantly needs to inform you how tough he is, and constantly talks bad of other martial artists to make himself feel better about himself. One is a true warrior, the other is a salesman, always trying to sell you something.
Lmao, the fact that the director of a movie was like "You know Michael if you kick this dude's ass for real it would be totally fine. Really, nobody would be mad I promise" is hysterical to me. Sounds like the director was tired of his BS too 😂
He's one of the coolest most humble down to earth celebrities or maybe even people ever.
Later, Michael is in an elevator with a mother and her 5 year old.
The 5 year old looks around and says "You know, if you hurt Steven Seagal, it's not a problem because..."
LOL

@@cybercop0083 LOL! Just a quiet nod, and a slight narrowing of the eyes...
I'm surprised with all Michael's knowledge of martial arts he would've known Van Damme was actually a fighter. He competed in kickboxing competitions and won 18 by knockout. Now I'm not saying he should've won the fight with his bodyguard, but saying he's not a fighter is inaccurate 🤷🏽♂️
Facts
Karate tournaments not kickboxing matches
Point still stands though 🤷🏽♂️
What's MJW fight record?
There’s a big difference between fighting in kickboxing ring and fighting in the streets with no rules and the hard pavement underneath you 😂😂😂😂
