Thank you for adding Claire Weekes clips over your panic episodes, watching you practice the method after is so educational! My panic physical manifestations are often so all consuming I can’t even think of the methods, just pain! I am excited to try this method when I’m in an episode and see if it makes a difference 💕 (if I can remember!)
I recently started watching your videos, you’re truly building your confidence and you’ve made so much progress❤ I was curious what are your thoughts on medication?
Thank you for being here! I am not a doctor, but I will give you my personal take. I have been on a lot of medication in the past two years, some worked and some didn't do much. But I went off all medication a few months before I started this ERP therapy, as the amount was too great compared to the effect it had. I was on way too much at one time. I find they tend to over-medicate people. I would recommend staying away from all benzos (like xanax), it only makes things worse and can become addictive, and instead try other sedatives (ex-allergy meds, antipsych, melatonin etc.) if really needed. Medication to stabilize sleep is the absolute most important. It is better to take a sedative and sleep, than to roll around in the sheets all night for the sake of staying off medication. ERP needs to be done without, because you need to pass through your panic and you need to build up a fundament with action/routines/skill-sets prior to going out (see my Guide to overcoming agoraphobia and panic-video). If you ever were to go off the srri/snri you might lose a lot of the gains, and be right back at the start. I had access to quetiapine, that I would take AFTER exposure to be able to relax/sleep if things got really, really bad. Long answer, but hope it helps!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on it❤ ❤I have a very similar view. Personally, I have used serotonin boosting supplements like 5-htp(L-triptophan)and exercise. In my experience, they work very well, and you start producing more serotonin!
