Feathers floated like prayers past his fingers, close enough to snatch back. Death breathed burning kisses against his shoulders, where the wings joined the harness. The sun painted everything in shades of gold. (There is a certain beauty in setting the world on fire and watching from the centre of the flames.) ~Fiona
I love how they use Icarus as what his metaphor is. Those young people who dance with danger, maybe driving carelessly, doing extreme sports, or simply drinking too much. Those are the real Icarus, the ones that, by going to an extreme, by "flying too close to the Sun" end up falling to "the sea".
