Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
- Macallan edition 5 was "limited" to 260,000 bottles and showcases of all the odd things, the color purple. Coming in at 48.5% abv this uses a mix of bourbon and sherry cask.

Well I haven’t tried this one and I probably never will. It appears, based on other reviews of the 5, your scores are very charitable. Lol. Thank you guys. We really appreciate the balanced reviews. They all can’t be a home run.
BIG 10/4 me boys, the truth is what we're looking for. Get rid of the Fluff. If the Truth hurts so be it. The alcohol industry has been getting away with B.S. for to many years. Give the public high quality goods we're definitely paying for it ❗ Cheers boys 🥃
Great review and love the honesty.
I was hoping to see y'all in flannel and boots this week... Eh whisky for sure
that would require owning flannel
Ha! Next review for me.
forget macallan lipstick edition, I'm looking out for these lucky seven 14 yos now. They don't distribute to Indiana but I messaged them through instagram and got a response yesterday saying their website is getting restocked in the "very near future" and that they deliver to Indiana. I'm on board.
Truth 🫶🏻
I wish u guys could get your hands on edition 3. Really wanna see Dustin pouring this masterpiece into a drain.
Dustin love to drain pour bad whisky
That bottle is thankfully LONG gone :) lol
I agree, Macallan does not due well in ex-bourbon casks. I've only bought ED 1 & 2 and those are well worth the $100 I paid. This is why I don't chase these over-hyped, overpriced bottles. Especially if its Macallan. Great review.
Dustin will never cease buying mediocre hundred something dollar whiskies so the rest of us don’t have to. 🤣🤣🤣
@@topshelfwhisky HAHA
@@topshelfwhisky Ouch. LOL
no Top Shelf today.

I think after ED2, which was good but overpriced in my opinion, Macallan thought they could string this along with the bullshit back stories and the very obvious collectability of the packaging. I recently made a philosophical point on Mark Littler's very good site and oddly enough that involved a collectable Macallan as well. My point being if you never intend to open a bottle it might as well contain stewed tea instead of whisky. (That's exactly what was in a display bottle of Dalmore 21 at a whisky event I was at a few years ago - they told me.) The flavour of the whisky is entirely secondary and in a way it has no importance at all. Once the bottle is opened the concept has no value. It only needs a token flavour value - like it tastes a bit like whisky. That's what's going on with an expression like this. You aren't supposed to drink it. It's just an idiotic tradeable commodity like currency. This is a good video of a nothing whisky. Cheers guys. WT
Sadly they snuck in that edition 4 that really did it for me. So they got me on this one. Can't disagree, I think there's a point to distilleries not worrying about quality when they sell these "collectables".
I've heard wine people say, "Drink Pink," when talking about rose.
Now Macallan wants some to drink purple or Grape Ape??
Maybe grape flavored creatine 🤷🏻♂️
I got editions 3, 5 and 6 unopened, I plan on trading or selling some years from now. Save the classic cuts for drinking, and even those should be better then they are smh
I can't blame you. These are worth far more than the value of the whisky. You have a favorite release of the CC?
@@topshelfwhisky didn’t get a chance to try the 2017 or the 2020 CC, but the rest have been great with maybe the 2019 being a standout
Dustin gave that Edradour 12yr CS 1st fill Spanish oak oloroso cask a 78 and then gives this garbage an 80?
Well one of these didn't use 1st fill spanish oak oloroso so it got a higher score :)
I just started watching and looking at length of the review, it doesn’t look promising!
You got better things to do, we have better whisky to drink… let’s all move on 😉 😉😉
They have a fantastic public relations team that can create a hype. This editions was created for collectors and not drinkers. 🙈🙊. Apparently the no 1 was very good.
Edition #1 was okay, nothing special.
@@topshelfwhisky good to know
I struggle with collecting a bottle with 260,000 total made. But...seems people are and they sell for more than retail which is just astonishing to me.
@@topshelfdustin3060 I think It is more about the full set and not just one bottle.
@@WhiskyLoversSociety fair enough. Edition 1 I do believe was somewhat limited though, not by most standards even. I certainly saw this as a FOMO type set to sell more whiskies though.
