    How long does it last? No preservatives added right? When to add EO?

    • @sugarspicesingapore4783

      No preservatives. You only add the EO when you are diluting the soap paste. Expiry for the paste is 24 months. After dilution, expiry is 6 months.

    I love that huge stainless steel mug, that is so great for soap making. I can never find them that huge in North America. If I do they're usually too pricey.

    How much distilled water to dilute the past that is not on the recipe instructions. Would help

    • @sugarspicesingapore4783
      @sugarspicesingapore4783  3 роки тому

      It is recommended that you dilute only what you need so that you get fresh batch each time. You can dilute 1:2 (soap paste:water)

    Types of preservative,and their quantity .
    ) if natural preservatives means their quantity used for *100grm of shampoo base + Required quantity of water to dilute*.

      Usually the dilution can be up to 1:3 (soap paste:water). You can preserve it by just keeping it in a wide mouth jar. This allow it to cure longer too. Alternatively, some soap makers keeps the paste in the fridge.

    I've heard lye reacts to metal, how is the heat in your bowl? I'm looking to make some soaps for friends and family and I'm looking to purchase some bowls just for sopanofication to not cross contaminate my food with NaCl. Any recommendations?

    • @sugarspicesingapore4783
      @sugarspicesingapore4783  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Cheryl, the best type of equipment to use for soap making is either glass or stainless steel. Lye will react with other materials like aluminium so do make sure you use the right equipment for your soap making. The lye solution will be around 60-70 deg celcius when you make into a solution (yes, its hot!) so do take note and avoid touching the bottom of the container. You can cool your lye solution using an ice bath method. It is advisable not to use the same container for food. If you are in Singapore and looking for a place to make your own soap, do check our Soap Making Community: bit.ly/2GfHDVf

      Use stainless steel. Works best for soap making and lye solution.

    • @sugarspicesingapore4783
      @sugarspicesingapore4783  2 роки тому +1

      Lye is one of the key ingredient to make soap. Oil + Lye = Soap. To make soap, we need lye so that the saponification process can take place. Check out the description for link to our blogs.
