It's time to get rid of the Zerg on Shakuras once and for all. With both Crystals in our posession, we can finally head over to the Xel'Naga temple and place them down.
In this video I complete the "Countdown" mission in StarCraft: Remastered as part of the Brood War expansion. This is the final mission of the Protoss storyline in Brood War and the end of Episode 4.

I have to say I love how dark, mysterious and powerful Zeratul's voice was in Starcraft. Apparently the guy who gave his voice to Zeratul has died before SC2 :(
Fun facts:
- This is the same temple as from the mission in SC2 (and the co-op mission, presumably). They also have the same 5000HP health bar!
- Vorazun, the Dark Templar commander from SC2 is the daughter of the Matriarch Raszagal here.
Want a fun challenge? Play this mission again, but use dark archons to capture some drones and play this mission using an exclusively Zerg army.
Giam Modified I found this mission easier with a ton of overlords clearing the map then walking away for 15 minutes.
That actually makes the mission easier, since guardians are actually better at cleaning out the attacking Zerg bases than carriers
Yeah I did just that when I played this game hahaha those lurkers also help in protecting the temple!
YES! go through Sc2 campaign again afterwards, you'll see things with other eyes since you now know about the whole backstory and all the s*** the characters have been through (Zeratul for example)
UselessPieceOfShit YeahThat'sMe!
Motion seconded.
I totally agree, Lowko should do the SC2 campaign again. Maybe by trying to do something different, up to you Lowko xD
I also second this notion. Let him play until the end of the series.
But how do you not know the story from the first time around circa 1998???
Eric Chang
I do play the game in 1998, from the original and Brood War campaign. I did have some hard time to play the story line. I see Lowko playing it, which I enjoy watching, and I can tell, he brought me back some good memories when I played the game.
Lowko, I always enjoy your approach to missions including rookie fails from time to time :D that means you are still human. It would be great to see SC2 Campaign on Brutal of course :)
6:01 "I gotta make sure that I manage my gas here nicely" - me every time I'm in a restaurant, cinema, etc.
The last time I was this early I stormed all my Terran allied units before they could join up
I have the feeling we´ll see a return of that in the terran campaing (stukovs death) xD
Too soon man... Too soon.
Well then make sure you wont repeat that in the next dungeon crawl mission! alright?
Which video was this? I've watched them all but most not have been paying attention.
Ahahahahaha ua-cam.com/video/0ksWuE-3MOA/v-deo.htmlm hahahahaha
i wont spoil ANYTHING but i think even though i am a huge protoss fan and protoss main in sc2, the BW terran arc is one of my favourites of the entire frenchise
It's funny he mentions about if we would want to see the SC2 campaign even though the only reason I found this channel was to find a walkthrough to help me through the LOTV campaign on brutal....many good memories and very bad strategies and army comps were made but none the less I think we would all enjoy it.
Indeed. So many naturals not taken during the LOTV campaign lol. #lowkothings
Ace Tropics iii
He should defenitely do the SCII campaigns as well!
The way I see it, if you started with SC2, it would be like starting with the Original Trilogy of Star Wars (not talking about the quality of the writing, but just where you start in the story). You know the end of that, go back to see what happened before, and it gives you a perspective of the latter half of the story that you didn't have before.
That faithful Zerg mission with a side objective (to unlock the real final mission) Is getting closer and closer.
Angel Egel mission 9 bonus campaign. One of the important mission to the prelude to sc2
The mission that leaved everyone wanting more SC for more than a decade
**reaches last protoss BW mission**
**finally discovers shield batteries**
#justlowkothings
>Zeratul: Matriarch, i have served you for many millenia
>Zera 635 years old
>Raszagal 1045 years old
It's an hyperbola man, don't get triggered :)
I'm a little sad that Zeratul is so "young" since he said that he "witnessed the birth of entire realities" when he met with Aldaris on Aiur. I mean 600 years is a lot, of course, but Protoss can live so much longer!
Maybe time has been relative in the places he's been?
A “year” depends on the planet
I actually like that explanation, broadbandtogod. After all, Dark Templars are proficient in using the powers of the Void.
Yes Lowko! Keep the campaign playthrough train going. No brakes on this train!
18:54 those are the acid spores from the zerg Devourer
The units affected by acid spores take 1 additional damage per attack, per stack, stacking up to 9.
so if a unit has 5 acid spore stacks and takes 2 damage it will instead take 7 damage
The affected unit also attacks slower, though carriers are not really affected by this because they don't attack directly
Fuchsiya actually it's Corrosive Venom.
Devourer effect are tripled if hit large clump and you're swarming them with mutas as the glaive bounce hits 3 times per volley.
Kim no that's some SC2 thing. In BW it's Acid Spores.
Kim Josh Angelo Cejas It's definitely Acid Spores
Yup! Lowko, you should totally do the StarCraft II campaigns! :D
How about interactive SC2 campaign? You will play it on brutal difficulty but all major decisions like terran research choice, Kerrigan mastery points or Spear of Adun upgrades are going to be decided by voters among subscribers or patreons. This is going to be fun, I think.
^^ thats super interesting
No dont takes us back to 2005....seriously it was just annoying...people did that all the time with stuff and its just not fun if youre just watching something
Sc2 campaign on brutal and all achievements.. definitely will enjoy that series lowko :)
Definitely the next two episodes are the best not only because of the creativity in the missions also the difficulty and the most important the epic UED storyline
Ahh I see we have a fellow Human here! Do you also serve Humanity and the UED with pride and passion?
I can't wait for him to meet the Torrasque.
*Tortured Roar*. And I hope he also "meets" him during the Zerg Campaign.
Unless of course he uses Spawn Broodling to kill it before it can attack his base.
[SPOILERS AHEAD]
But I'm taliking about the second Zerg mission, where you take control over feral running zerg. There's a Torrasque as well! :D
"This reminds me of a coop mission in Starcraft 2 where you have to defend a temple."
Literally *the* *same* temple.
The UED campaign coming soon! Oh boi it's my favourite one! So many cool missions there!
You can select a unit and right click it to the shield battery to restore its shield
Fun facts: This is the same temple as from the mission in SC2 (and the co-op mission, presumably).
Vorazun, the Dark Templar commander from SC2 is the daughter of the Matriarch Raszagal here.
And Vorazun harbors resentment towards Zeratul for... something that happens in the zerg campaign
Of course we're interested! Walkthrough StarCraft 2 campaigns after as well.
For extra fun in this mission, create a dark archon before taking the first expansion, mind control a drone and then you can have two maxed out armies of Protoss and Zerg, plus a sick set up of static defense at the temple
that's the only way i could beat this mission. zerg seemed to attack me much harder (*) than what happened here (except for the big push at 2:30, they didn't seem to care much about the temple)
(*) or maybe i just suck
Also if you didnt bring artanis and zeratul right away to the temple, you wouldnt trigger the big ass brown and orange zerg mass air attack, meaning you can saturate and fortified the temple first, while most attack to you are ground unit or mass mutalisk
This time, temple is used to destroy Zerg. In SC2, prolly the same temple, is used to destroy shakuras to eliminate the Zerg again.
Estelle Bright
It IS the same temple, they even mention this.
Yes it the same temple, artanis even mention that without the uraj and khalis, they cant destroy the zerg
BOTH BASES are YOURS! Lowko! There is not a thing called supply overlap.
Yeah, if you control two bases of different races they each have different supply/control/psi counts.
But Protoss and Protoss are not different races.
No matter how many times I hear this dialog between Zeratul and Raszagal, and especially the finishing "Indeed", I am always getting chills down my spine.
_Artanis the Scout Boy_
This is why I come back to these videos.
I have been loving this series and would greatly enjoy you continuing onto Starcraft 2. I discovered your channel about 3 months ago and you have reignited my love for Starcraft. As a side note, i absolutely love that you have missed things in your playthroughs that people troll you for but you power through the missions anyways and complete them. Starcraft Remastered Brutal Mode Engaged.
lowko, as some1 who has only played the original starcraft, plz also do a series on the SC2 series
I am so proud of Lowko finally building static defenses and even shield batteries :-)
Yes please Lowko! It will be great to see how you deal with the campaign after years and years of Multiplayer Training!
Yes please do the SCII campaign! these are the best campaign video's I've seen.
I would love to see you play through the SC2 series please. Brutal with all achievements and all the secret missions.
he already done it check his channel! :)
Funny that you mention this mission is a lot like a SC2 coop map because the LOTV mission where you defend the temple on Shakurus is the exact same temple in this mission. Except in SC1 you use it to save shakurus and in SC2 you destroy shakurus.
Solair The Sunbro Heh, yeah. Both are still used to cleanse the zerg.
I won't spoil it, but Kerrigan gets even more villainous in the Zerg campaign.
A Lowko Strikes Back for SC2? Hell YES! En Taro Lowko!
The purple stuff is the attack of the Devourer, zerg’s new anti-air flyer in brood war. It’s splash, decreases your armor and attack speed stacking up to 9 (and yes you get negative armor for additional damage), and prevents cloaking like ensnare and plague
Big YES for the Starcraft 2 Campaign. I enjoy your campaign videos.
YES SC2 campaign after this. Good. Play. Please.
5:26
I love how when ur commanding Protoss units and they're always saying epic things. Like right here, he's telling Artanis to retreat, and Artanis replies, "FOR AIUR!"
Don't worry, this is not the last protoss mission in broodwar)
What you mean??
What you mean??
@@camello321 you know what he means now?
Yes, please do. SC2 campaigns, the missions are very unique and fun!
I still remember back then when I play this mission, I always mind control a drone and start building a Zerg army, good luck breaking a maxed out 400 supply army.
LOWKO
This is the temple that you defend in SC2
The misson is called Temple of THE PAST, because you used it back in sc1 to destroy the zerg on shakuras
Hey Lowko!
Really love watching these every day on my lunch break. Hope you are doing the Starcraft 2 campaigns as well; keep the Lowko train Rollin!!
0:15 What's that you say? It's the FIIIINAL COUNTDOOOOWN!!!
No Lowko, these are not the last missions you can play.
I repeat myself: there are very nice BONUS CAMPAIGNS FOR SC1 AND BW! Enslavers and Dark Vengeance.
Fun fact, you can take over a zerg Drone and then make a zerg base of your own. Also fun fact, the map here is the basis of the campaign and Co-op map in SC2, LotV.
Actually never thought about that blast scouring all life off the planet. As a kid when I played this I always assumed the Xel'Naga temple would have been attuned to just wipe out Zerg. Seems a lot darker with your interpretation Lowko.
im so up for starcraft 2 campaigns =) keep up the good work LowkoTV love your work!
Yess, continue the campaign
The way you finish these missions always feels like the canon way. What I mean is, that the desperation of being overrun by the zerg in the cinematic matches what was slowly happening to you.
I always either wipe out orange and brown zerg or just turtle so perfectly that there is no threat. Doesn't really match up. You did the same thing with the final protoss mission in the original campaign.
I don't think you do it on purpose but keep up the good work.
Legend has it that if you scout around the edges of the temple you can find the three zenith stones that regulate the temple's power
This mission looks so weird w/o a mind controlled zerg army, makes it so much easier.
hands up for SC2 campaign walkthrough!
Artanis really worked out in those four years between Brood war and LotV
keep the story going Lowko ^^
heck yeah, continue with the SC2 campaigns!
This temple is the same one as the Starcraft-2 Co-Op mission. It's very signficant in the Protoss campaigns. I'm looking forward to the SC-2 campaigns as well, to see it completed on Brutal. I get stuck on a few missions.
Lowko... Dude... Of course we want you to replay WOL, HOTS, LOTV and NCO. You da man. I've checked out other UA-camrs who up load their game play and I just basically only watch your vids. Keep up the good work.
The cool stuff is that you can mindcontrol a zerg drone and overlord and build from scratches a whole zerg army
*sends probes from his last mining base to assimilator*
"I don't really need more gas right now"
Last time when i played this episode i captured a zerg drone and simply built a zerg army. it was fun
I loved this mission.
Actually killing those two zergs that attack you at the end is hard as hell.
Infinite resources zerg with no limit on APM(because you are technically not supposed to kill them).
Keep the StarCraft campaign train rolling! If you're as cynical and jaded as the SC lore nerds, you'll understand why no one likes the SC2 lore. Gameplay's pretty stellar though.
I used to mind control a drone. Then build maxed out in protoss and zerg before going to the temple. Plenty of resources to do that.
When you put down those Stargates, I just wished I could tell you how many scourge the Zerg throw at you in this mission!
If I recall correctly, you can just target the ground for shield batteries kinda like an a-move. That will recharge all damaged units in the area.
totally interested in the sc2 campaign vids Lowko love your content and your shenanigans.:P
YES! Keep playing through SC2 please!
He never once right clicked on a shield battery. :(
Loving the playthrough, man. very nostalgic.
Definitely do to StarCraft 2 Campaign!!! Love these videos!
I'm surprised you got it on the first attempt. Building cannons around the temple usually doesn't occur to players on the first try and they are left shocked as a bunch of guardians level the temple in minutes.
Man, it is pretty fun to watch you play the original Starcraft! I found your channel quite recently, it would be awesome if you re-play all the SC 2 campaign!
Yes do all the storylines PLS!!!!
I love mind controlling the Zerg on this map, especially the Drone so I gain full access to the Zerg build line-up. :)
lowko did you notice early in the LoTv campaign, you Vorazun and Artanos have to destroy Shakuras by overloading the temple. Artanis says "This will not be easy without the Uraj and Kalis!" yea it's the SAME temple man! I caught the dialogue when you played it but now that you've played this mission I thought you'd appreciate that bit of continuity :D
Lowko, there are a lot of mineral over at the center location. You could have built a Nexus there are move all your probes of your destroyed base there to replace any cannon or interceptors that are lost in battle.
Yes please Lowko, do next the SC2 campaings in order!!
I really hope you keep going all the way through the starcraft 2 too, ive watched your legacy of the void playthrough but itd be awesome to see you play through and do some things different or try new things, youre a fun person to watch and i love your videos bro! Also, maybe you can try some of those expansions you missed in your first play through 😉😂
Hell, it's about time... ehehe Yeah Lowko! Play all the SC2 campaign again, now you will grasp better the lore and besides, play with a better understanding.
The final Protoss episode of the entire SC1
.
.
.
.
*chuckle* oh yes it is.
Hell yeah you should play the SC 2 campaign (on the brutal difficulty, finishing all bonus objectives).
will def be interested in the sc2 follow up
YES, play them all :D !
Maybe also Nova covert missions
I still have nightmares from doing this episode so long ago. I lost so many carriers back then and it took me longer than planned to finish. Did it first time though but the game was too long.
Yes SC2 Campaign after Brood War!
Love your channel Lowko, Keep the vids coming!!!!! EN TARO ADUN NOTIFICATION SQUAD!!!!!!
I always loved mind controlling a few drones so I could have a zerg army to pair with my mass protoss air
We've seen infested terrans, we've seen zerg-protoss hybrids, now I want to see a campaign with a human-protoss hybrid.
Im interested to see you play through all the whole story of the statecraft. I literately watch all your video on the story mode it's really enjoyable that sometime see you have misplay an do some dump stuff on the story mode lol keep up your work I will keep enjoy them
Yes please go through the star craft campaigns please
I would like to see ya tackle the StarCraft II campaign! It'd be a blast!
The purple stuff that is covering your units is the Devourer's Corrosive Acid.
SC2 campaign would be great to see here :D Though this one is really interesting to watch as well :D
Quite hard to eliminate all the Zerg bases on this mission, could be an interesting side quest IMO :)
Though I just finished all SC2 campains on brutal I'd love to see your playtrough, it's always amazing! Keep it up Lowko :)
P.S. This is the exactly that xel'naga temple we protecting in co-op and LotV campaign
*Lore nerd*
Yesss plz do starcraft 2 campaign as well!
Hey Lowko, really enjoy watching your videos and your clumsy moves at microing units ;-)
I`d really like to see you play the starcraft 2 campains with all the achievements on brutal or at least hard ^^
Keep up the good work! dont forget to smile ;)
Do it lowko! Yea boy
SC2 campaign please lowko, love your work!
