- A short insight into the early days of my flying career. I visit the airfield where I completed my private pilots license, as well as the airport I was based as a commercial pilot.

Fantastic vlog Becky. Total natural. 😊. Thanks for talking about your flying era. Very interesting. 👍. Loved it..xxxx
Glad you enjoyed it x
Reminds me of my own first solo cross country in a PA28 out of EGNT way back in ‘81. Memories of a daunting undertaking ending with a mix of elation and relief that it went to plan on the day! Keep up the vlog’s Becky, great stuff.
It's such an experience isn't it. I flew into EGNT a few times it's a great route from the south over the bridges. x
Loved the video Becky, so natural and some great little anecdotes, wonderful
Glad you enjoyed it x
I love going back to old haunts years later. It can definitely be emotional - like it was in a past life. Loved that you could take your Dad up for a spin too. I bet he’s dead proud of you!
He loved going flying with me, just wish I'd taken my mum up now she's made me feel bad haha!! Xx
Great tales. Had a flight lesson for my 40th. Engine failed in the 1947 Cessna just before take off…and failed once more when airborne. I steered the aircraft whilst the instructor searched for a suitable place to ditch…royally testing my mettle! We limped back into Blackpool airport and I headed to the boozer for a gallon of wine! Congrats on the channel. Good luck :)
PS - great shades!
Goodness me!! That bad luck!! You must have been a wreck!! A 1st experience like that would have put me off for life I think! X
Once again beck loved the video looking forward to the next 👍
Thankyou x

Well done becky that was very honest and interesting to see how you got your pilots license.
Would be nice and very interesting to find that lovely guy who put you on the right track when you were lost if he's still around after 18 years of course .
Again thanks for letting us into your life.❤❤
He is still and probably always will be a good friend, we don't speak often unfortunately life gets in the way sometimes. Xx
Fabulous vlog Becky, very interesting, IV never been in a plane at all ever..you go girl, nice to see your instructor too. Lunch looked good, and nice to see your mum looks good too.

I was surprised more girls aren't coming through too a little disappointing. Our take over doesn't extend to flying 🤣🤣 xx

Hi Becks, really enjoyed this insight into your flying career. I am too a Pilot, attained my PPL back in 1983 (at a very tender age) and have enjoyed flying ever since although never followed up along a Commercial route. Have also had a major interest in aviation from my earliest days when attending Air displays at the former RAF Wethersfield in Essex. The interest was sparked when at a display with my Dad & Uncle, they stood me on the bonnet of my Uncles car as an English Electric Lighting did a low & fast pass subsequently standing on its tail into a rapid climb. I promptly fell off the bonnet and have been hooked on all forms of aviation since. Loving your blogs, keep up the good work. Thank you. (Lionel, Colchester)
Hi Lionel. Great memories standing on the car bonnet! It was always the red arrows who got me I was and still are mesmerised by their tricks. It's definitely a passion that sticks around for life isn't it! X
Such an interesting vlog. I really admire you achieving a PPL and having an amazing career. I worked for the CAA and at the end of my career worked in the Control Tower Building at Heathrow. Used to see Concorde take off every morning. It was such a wonderful sight. Do you keep up your license.? Margaret from Longwick
Wow what an amazing experience that must have been! I've only seen/been on concorde on the ground and never saw her fly. My best experience was flying abeam the Vulcan (briefly as it was) my license has expired how but I might get back in to it one day. Xx
Hi Becky, how many years were you a pilot for? and why did you give it up? Was it when you had a family? Love your vlogs.
Thankyou. In total including training I flew for 12 years. It was when I had my son that I changed jobs. X
Really interesting 👏thank you.Your Mum is lovely 🎉
Thank you! 😃
Hi Becky 👋, great insight into you flying career, 🛩 drove past Gamston a couple of weeks back now, didn't realise you could pop in to the cafe like that. Question we would like to know is: Where are you at with your flying career now if indeed you are still flying? P.S Channel is flying along itself 👍
Sam and Cat ❤
Ah next time you're over that end nip in its a great cafe!! I haven't flown for a while but may get back into it for a hobby I'd love to take my son flying! It's just an expensive hobby unfortunately! X
Becky really interesting background to your ppl do you miss flying still ?
Oh gosh yes!! I hopefully will get to renew and a get up there again. X
Did a bit of flying in the cadets, powered gliding helicopters in Cyprus, parachuting in donny.submarines in tenerife happy days.if captain slow can fly i bet anybody could fly.
WOW! some great experiences! I bet parachuting in donny was interesting, not sure i'd have the nerve for that! x
Brilliant Becky keep em coming. Xx
Thankyou x
Really enjoyed your vlog. How long did you fly as a career for, was it always small aircraft, and is it costly to use those small aircraft to travel?
The biggest I flew was a 10 seater, although I am qualified for airliners. It can be expensive it depends on when and where you are going x
Enjoyed this 👍
Thankyou x
Omg how terrifying being lost on your own in a plane. I’ve been terrified lost in a works van 😂😂😂 Well done for landing safely x
😂😂 x
Love watching you ❤️ please keep posting 🎉❤
Thankyou xx
Are you good at everything ? You must have at least one weakness ? 😊
My other half will happily list them for you 😂😂 x
why didn't you carry on with your flighting career and why don't you fly now
After I had my son I wanted to be home more and have a flexible career where I could be home for him. X
Llke
The birds App
Oh I loved that Becky… give us some more reminiscing of the flying days… it’s something pretty unique. 🙌👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it, I will do another Vlog about it I do have lots of stories. xx
Thank me in the future, James wing walking!
@@Andy-MijasCosta 🤣
It took me 4 attempts to pass my driving test so I don't think I was ever destined to become a pilot !
😁 hey it doesn't matter how many times, you got there in the end!! X
That was brilliant well done you 😊
Thankyou x
Great vlog Becky xx
Thankyou x
Aww what a lovely vlog, would you like to fly again. Xx
Thankyou, yes I would love to fly again and sure I will at some point xx
Ooooo Helmut Newton book!!! I had that but it seems to have disappeared
I didn't steal it, I promise 🤣🤣 he is my favorite artist! X
Hey Becks i was wondering if you were a passenger on a 747 and both pilots took ill, would you be able to take control and land the aircraft like you see in the movies? 😎. Also if you were ever to renew your pilots licence not only could you take your mum for a flight, you could also re name youtube "by the cloud" 🛩
Haha love By the cloud!! I would give landing a 747 a good go, I have completed basic sim training on passenger jets so I'm not a complete novice. That said I don't want it to happen 🤣🤣 x
My Husband started doing fixed wing then went to helicopters so I can appreciate all the work you did to gain your license. Do you keep your hours up? Really great interesting vlog.
Wow he went to helicopters! Now they are a challenge!! I haven't flown for quite a while but do fancy getting checked out and upto date again. Xx
WOW how amazing are you..xxx
😊 thankyou x
You are the person I wanted to be ❤
Thankyou 😘 xx
Mum has said her bit. Lol😂
I felt so guilty! X
Lovely vlog beck, very interesting glad you showed us the plane you usually flew x
The modern day amy Johnson 🛩 great vid 👍
😊 thankyou x
Do you still fly? Was it commercial? Great video
It was commercial but not the airlines, I haven't flown since I had my son 😔 x
@@BeckandBeyond wow, I have 2 years left in the Forces and that’s my next goal. Couldn’t afford it as a youngster so better late than never!
Really is girl power, such an interesting time in your life. So enjoying watching your channel, cups of tea & interesting chat. Much prefer to your brother booze, booze & fish & chips 😂
Ah thankyou so much! I'm going to tell James that one 🤣 x
I really enjoyed your vlog Becky, I too got lost on my qualifying cross country back in 1999.
I was flying a PA-28 out of Gloucestershire Airport, heading if recall to Halfpenny Green.
Like you I departed in perfect conditions only to encounter really bad haze and couldn’t identify any land marks.
I took a deep breath and declared a “PAN PAN” ATC were incredible and so helpful, and personable.
I made my way back to Gloucester, humbled and embarrassed, but knowing I’d managed the situation correctly.
Thanks for sharing your story, it was great.
Oh gosh that sounds similar to my experience I had the haze appear too!! It's horrible isnt it but we got through it!! It must have been harder to spot landmarks in a low wing AC too, think that was the one benefit of the cessnas they had decent visibility. X
Very interesting, good video well done keep up the good work.
Really good video, thanks for posting. I’d also from Yorkshire, I learned at Sherburn. Keep the videos coming 😎
I flew to Sherburn a few times on my travels, hope you're still flying! X
@@BeckandBeyond I’m about to purchase a share in an aircraft after an 8 month break. I’ll be glad to be back in the air! Are you still flying?
Wow what an exciting career. Excellent vlog
How come you gave up/retired from flying? Is it something you would go back to? Didn’t never fancy flying the big stuff 737/747 etc.? 🤔
I gave up when I had my son, being on call isn't ideal when you have a little one. I did complete a few Jet orientation courses (sim training) to prepare for a job with the airlines but it never really appealed. X
Becky you are a natural, this was very entertaining. Talking to camera obviously runs in the family. Can I ask do you still do any flying or have you let your license lapse? Hope you do more vlogs about you flying career. Maybe you could be the woman to encourage more girls to take to the skies. Take care and I look forward to you next edition. x
Thankyou glad you enjoyed it. My license has lapsed currently but wouldn't take much to get back in at the base level, hopefully I'll renew sometime in the future. I will do another vlog about it there are lots of stories! x
Great stuff Becky. Hard work getting your ppl but great fun. I remember having to learn the phonetic alphabet A for Alpha, B for Bravo, Q for Cucumber etc.
🤣 cucumber! I still use it daily somethings you never lose! X
Interesting blog Becky, my daughter had a flying lesson for her 21st from that airport and they flew over our house in Doncaster, I don't think it inspired her to carry on with lessons though 😂
Aw thats a shame she didn't carry on we need more female pilots! a great experience for her though! x
How fascinating. I'm from a family of seven children, same stable but all different. I was a bench worker and my twin sister a bank manager but underneath we're the same, seems the same with you and James.
Absolutely!! How lovely being part of a big family, my mum is one of 7 too x
hi beck. me again. great vlog very interesting. if it all goes wrong you can fall back on your hi vis and become a carpark control. womble. ❤👍👍
Carpark control brilliant 😂😂 glad you enjoyed! x
This was great, I loved hearing your stories. And you're right, it's never the same when you go back to places, like places of work, I've done it as well. If I had, had the opportunity like yourself I think I would have jumped at the chance to become a pilot. How many years altogether did you fly? Loved seeing your mum there as well. You all have a wonderful week, take care.
I flew for about 10 years in total including training. It was too good an opportunity to turn down!
Enjoy your week too x
Great video Becky, I enjoyed that. It looks like you have been doing these Vlogs for years now! 😀 All the best ….Smithy
Thanks Smithy, xx
Another great vlog from you Becs 💘 ❤. Totally a beautiful vlogger you are🫶. Would lover to fly you around the world 💘... Not exactly lol it would have to be crossy on my bike 😂😂😂😂x
Haha thankyou 😊 The bike is probably as much fun!! x
Fantastic Becky, I love planes even though I had a scary flight many years ago. You are very natural and confident, looking forward to your future adventures.
Thanks so much! xx
Very interesting thanks for sharing 🛩️🛫
Wow. Amazing Becky. So interesting to hear about your flying past. Take care ✈️ x
Thankyou xx
Really fascinating Becky, so glad you took us back to your aviation days. Gotta feeling it was something we all kinda wanted to know but didn't quite feel it appropriate to ask. Thank you. Stu.
Lot's had asked about it, I will need to do another vlog about it as I only scratched the surface! xx
Very much enjoyed your film Becky, thanks for showing us around….do you still fly? Thanks for the tour round too! x
I don't fly currently but will probably renew my license (when I can afford it haha) Glad you enjoyed x
Brilliant Beck, loved it, so interesting, girl of many talents. My brother used to fly, too complicated for me. Well done you!
Lucy xx
Ah I hope your brother takes you out!? It's not too complicated you'd be surprised, the exams were the hardest part. x
You had my hubby's dream job, well done, must be amazing and quite scary on the 1st flight ❤
Thankyou, it was a little scary at times 😣 but it's all down to experience I suppose! xx
What a superb insight into your piloting days. You are a natural vlogger. Nice to see your Mom too, hope she is feeling better. Loved the cute doggies again too. When was your last flight ?
Haha we have to get a cute pup in when we can! I haven't flown for about 5 years now 😔I need to get back up there!! Thankyou my mum is much better it was good to get her out of hospital! x
Fantastic life you must have had and do now I hope . Found your blog really interesting and I hope it influences other girls to think I could do that. Looking forward to the next one. Thank you .xx
That would be lovely if it influenced other girls to take up flying. Glad you enjoyed. Xx
The guy in the small green plane at Netherthorpe will need a bit more speed for take off. He's nowhere near 50Kn 😂
😂😂Brilliant!!! xx
Fab blog again Beck. I absolutely love that song - the original is amazing, but I really love this version!! 😍😍
Yeah it's a pretty cool version Gurty Beats on sound cloud. xx
❤🎉❤ That was so cool to listen to your story about getting in to aviation ,thankyou 🙏 looking forward to your next episode 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! X
Great video as always regards Howard from Cyprus 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thankyou Howard! xx
Lovely vlog, very interesting and you come across so natural on camera looking forward to more vlogs.
Thanks so much! 😊 x
Another great story from a great lady. Great information. Very natural and it always helps being pretty and well presented as always x
Thankyou xx
Ecxcellent vlog Beck very interesting look forward to the next
Thank you! 😀 x
Regarding being disoriented, after watching 'Mentour Pilot' (a current heavy passenger pilot) vids, the local ATC are totally sympathtic calm and helpful. Cos, they want you safe, but out of the way sort of.... fast! It's pointless screaming & bawling at a poor hapless pilot, unaware there is a 'heavy' right up your bum coming in to land! Gulp!
I'll have to check out 'Mentour Pilot' ATC is a job I could never do! I was taken into the tower at Humberside once and it blew me away the calmness I have such a respect for what they do! I hated speaking on the radio I'd get tongue tied all the time and ended up frequently saying stupid things, they used to have lot's of laughs at my expense!
@@BeckandBeyond Could I be cheeky, & ask you to 'gatecrash' a tower & film? I understand if you don't want to be an aviation channel.
..And the awesomeness that is Beck & Beyond continues...keep it up x
Thankyou x
Beck, you are a Wonder Woman! You have many talents and I enjoyed this video. Well done 👏
Thank you! 😊 xx
A great learning experience! ❤
Well done Becky. That was interesting. Terrance!
Thanks Terrance x
