Without a doubt the funniest and coolest dynamic ever seen. And how Al can effortlessly (most of the time) understand 50 CS’s with hand motions is absurdly funny.
Heng Dai. I'll never forgive whoever cancelled Deadwood. It's among the absolute best ever made series. The movie is alright but hasn't got the spirit.
That movie was an abomination to the series in my opinion. A cheap HBO money grab to shut up the fans who told them how shitty they were for canceling it and never allowing it a REAL WRITERS ending, not one that was written by a 1st-year film school intern for a class project.
@@aimannorzahariwod It has current year syndrome. It comes of as a labored parody of something it does not understand and was previously effortlessly great. It's checking bullet points instead. You can look at the speech for example. The speech and writing in Deadwood series is so well done and natural it actually had some people believing people actually spoke like that in the old west. It's consistent from the first episode to the end, fluid, immersive. Everyone called it "Shakespearean", so years later the movie comes out and what does the speech sounds like? Shakespearean, like literally Shakespearean, like the characters are all acting in a play instead of being themselves. It's incredibly stilted, it stands out like a sore thumb instead of instantly drawing you into the world. Why? Because the writing is bad, because it's checking off the "Shakespearean speech" bullet point without even understanding what it means.
Dan crying shows how loyal he is to Al. The pain in his eyes and his voice when the doctors go upstairs to tend to Al who is in fucking pain himself shows how worried he is for his brother in arms.

On that picture in which Wu is using to communicate with Al, there appears to be an automobile on it...lol. More than likely, just representing a wagon or stagecoach, minus the horses.
When Al turns his back on Wu to go upstairs, one of the last things Wu yells sounds phonetically to my old ears as "bak guiylo." I was told ages ago that guiylo or however it's spelled in English means white ghost and is not a compliment :) The Metropolitan Toronto Police force had a team that was raiding Vietnamese illegal gambling dens and they would hear the clubs' lookouts yelling "bak quay!" So they got curious and it's basically "white devil" LOL. So the cop team came to me to design and print a Demon and the lettering Bak Quay on caps they'd put on for their raids. Not sure if HQ was aware of it but I thought it was tongue in cheek tit for tat with their quarry.
The dynamic of Wu and Swearegen is genius.
