I hope Scan wins it all. It was between him Bishop and Dewalt for who I wanted to win. All these competitors are great though. This has been a lot of fun to watch. Thanks for posting and commentating Artosis. I learn a lot from you.
I'm surprised how rare magic erasers are at high-level play. I'm glad to see them used to high effect here, but maybe they're just too risky for expensive Science Vessels to do. After all, if you just get scourged, plagued, Hydra'd or Mutalisked, you pretty much lose two vessels for free. Glad to see them effective in the 2nd game on this video.
Hello arty, you mentioned recently that sc developement was rushed. Do you know what Kind of changes Blizzard would have made, except for pulsating Evolution chambers when upgrading ? Maybe someone could make a "starcraft finished" mod with this knowledge.
Back in 2017 I made a mod that added work animations to all structures, it's not that difficult to do and it helped players understand the stakes of a fight a lot better.
I'm seeing you mentioned on uthermal's channel. You're the only two UA-cam channels i watch about sc. I want your commentary on how he is playing the new mod with bw units.
Name suggestion for this Zerg build: "the Grinder", cause "hydra-lurker-defiler" is a little bland and also a mouthful. Because basically it grinds down your opponent's units and resources
Zerg was never in it. There's a gap in skill level. The closest zerg got was with the muta harass, and once valks came out it was neutralized due to good valk and marine control and bad scourge control.
wut? That was pretty close. IF he didn't lose drones like 4 times he would be in a better spot. He actually played a lot better than the Terran if you judge by army movements and micro.
@20:30 why don't they ever irradiate their valkyries and force the dark-swarm/defilers/etc., to run and reposition somewhere other than the dark swarm cloud, else 2-3 of them will die, instead of irradiating ONE thing? Zerg has ZERO Anti-Air at this point.
Spoilers! The zerg not setting down at least 1 Sunken and 1 Spore turret to deal with things like drops or 'erasers' ... 2 drones and what 300 minerals each base tops to save 2000k+($, attention, braincells, stress) is peak ego flex greed. Glad to see the punishment dished out.
It’s a mind game. Just like Scan wasn’t expecting continuous zerglings so he didn’t block the ramp, Yoon was also not expecting heavy Vessels against Hydra Lurker Defiler, so he produced more Lurkers than necessary, and certainly not mentally prepared to deal with a heavy vessel game where erasers are a legitimate and repeating threat. Pro players ain’t gods, they have exceptional instinct on how games are MOST LIKELY to play out so they optimize their mental energy on a massive level so their games look impossibly smooth and smart, but if the game diverged, you can tell players are scrambling and making simple mistakes because their brains are still slowly transitioning to the reality from what they mentally prepared for.
That mod isn't really that good. All the Brood War spells are their SC2 campaign versions so they are incredibly nerfed, like a 5 sec Lockdown or Dark Swarm being a tiny 2x2 patch with less duration as well. It puts BW armies at even more of a disadvantage already having to deal with way more composition styles than they were designed for
@@junioraltamontent.7582 Yeah. Well it's good for BW vs BW but not BW vs SC2. They added sooo many abilities and units in SC2 LOTV it's crazy playing such a limited game play in BW.
It's a tradeoff. The time and effort to repair is sometimes not worth it. Plague for example...your vessels are just gonna get plagued again so repairing really doesn't make sense unless you have restoration which is insanely hard to use on top of microing the vessels. Early on against mutas though the valks on the other hand should always be repaired. A softened up valk dies to one scourge, you want to force zerg to spend more on scourge since those can't hit the marines.
Dude, these games are good but... Zerg feels so cheap. Scan's doing all this micro, all this hard work, only for 1 defiler to roll up and go "lol all your units are 1 hp." or "lol, all my units are invulnerable now, your only counter-play is to retreat." It's so cheap... Dark Swarm should be a 50% miss chance, not a 100% miss chance. BLAAAAAAAAAH...
Nah no way. Microing Hydra lurker defiler is one of the hardest things in the game to do, while SK Terran is like 10X easier. Zerg actually out played Terran but Irradiate killed like 50 drones.
really dislike how korean pros just refuse to build spore and sunken. It's always hyper-optimized for a specific play and they always end up being punished in the worst way possible. sad!
Yeah I don't see it pay off that well either, zerg really gets punished a lot by DTs and vessels as a result. It's kind of like when terrans refuse to make the bunker, we've even see that crop up.
One of the big meta shifts Terran has made is building a bunch of bunkers at their expansions. It used to be just a group of Marines with a medic standing at the ramp. I don't know why more zergs don't use spores. They are so good against plagued vessels and zergs rarely struggle with mineral income when erasers and vessels moving in to irradiate become an issue.
Idk about all that. Protoss does Make cannons everywhere and Terran makes Turrets, (not really bunkers unless vs late game Zerg). Zerg though doesn't have the econ to make spores and sunkens like Toss and Terran. I see a lot of games where they add a spore at the front, and it just tickles the vessels and they still get the irradiate off. It's not really worth it tbh. At low level like D rank it makes sense to add a spore at each base for anti DT or anti science vessel something but not B rank + because it's just so mathematical and optimized.
Notice how a single Zergling under dark swarm holds back 14 marines and 4 medics? Believe me, everyone, including Zerg players know.... Notice how a single plague takes 8 science vessels totaling 1600 hit points (cost: 800 min, 1800gas) down to literally 8 shot kill for a single hydra? Believe me, everyone, INCLUDING ZERG PLAYERS know... Notice how before Terran gets vessels, needs 3 comsat stations to scan for lurkers on hold position on the way to the zerg base? Etc.
This has been an absolutely nutty series so far. I love it.

Medics in the mineral line. I'd like to see more of that.
Scan is doing everything that we viewers hope the players can have the extra APM to do
Eraser foiling the scourge is some black magic.

I like Scan, he is a chill and skilled player and Yoon got very lucky to pull off such a move with a run by into run back into flybugs
20:16 you can just hear it in his voice without it being said: "invincible lurkers on the map".

absolutely bonkers series! also these matches teach so much
I disenjoy this new concept of foretelling (spoiling) the most clutch play of the vid
What a wild 3rd game
It has been a wild series. I am very happy with how these matchups are going. Neither have been totally one sided. Great entertainment value

You have been ERASED! -Scan 2024 referencing a movie from 1996
Zerg really needed some spores after that first eraser hit him. Even one spore at each base helps so much against that kind of stuff.
Happy to see good ol SC, even with commentary!!

Wow thats cool, can the mod be downloaded anywhere ?
Arty should start every single zerg vs terran/protoss with an explanation of Dark Swarm mechanics.
Orange cloud ftw
Love the casts - I look forward to them!

I always wondered why terran don't eraser more like this, WP
Artosis explained in one of his videos, Terran players always WANT to do this if they can, but it’s hard in games.
apparently eraser can't hit burrowed units, but yeah this seems strong.
Hey Artosis love your casts been watching all your videos! Keep it up! :D
Can someone link the Mihu game that Arty referenced towards the end?
Why Doesn't Zerg ever get Burrow late into the game? When Vessels are out it seems worth it to get Burrow to hide drones if they eraser.

Amazing Bio-vessel almost no mech late game against Zerg
Artosis is a very smart man .
Crazy how zeg can fight with 50-100 supplies less for such a long time.
Turns out ignoring defense upgrades and complete and total damage immunity are pretty good, I guess.
Cause Hydra cost 1 supply, and Zergling cost 0.5 supply, and Ultra is 4 supply.
Zerg supply is Hella deceiving.
Macro hatches let you pump out supply
Excellent game design isn’t it
If Zerg couldn’t hold on with their lower supply units, they’d lose 100% of games to Terran
SCAN IS THE MAN
I know what "tempo" means I'm chess, what does it mean in BW?
Let's go Scan!! Thanks for the cast Artosis!!
