Hey, everyone! Thanks for tuning in! This one certainly took a hot minute to figure out, but I'm really happy with the end product and I hope you enjoyed watching! Like I said in the outro, I'm genuinely curious as to what you thought about the video. The good, bad and everything inbetween. While I'm personally really confident in how it all turned out, the fact of the matter is that there's always things a creator will be blind to compared to their audience. As for the zombies fellas; the Shi No Numa review script is almost done and I'll be getting back to work on that in a couple days. I need a bit of a break lol And to think this whole project started because of me just casually mentioning "yeah I was playing other games oops" during my Firebase Z review last year and a handful of people said "ayo you should review P3".
About your fanfiction stuff at the end of the the video< I think that instead of just killing Erebus forever, we can make it so the only way to defeat it is to perma ban it from the universe.
You said this was your most in depth video since the Infinite Warfare Zombies Video. Speaking of which I have noticed you took it down. Why did you do that? It was my favorite video you ever made! I wish we can watch it again or at least know why it was taken down.
I'm planning on watching this with a friend that adores Persona 3 so much tonight, but I want to say that I'm so excited to watch this after a long year of waiting. You always make and deliver such quality content that truly inspires me, even if it's content I really just don't enjoy as much/know very little about. Thank you, Jr Rizzo for every single video, whether it's leftovers, a serious retrospective, a minute long shitpost, or even just two guys talking about whatever they want. I really do enjoy it all.
@@Kirobsi He legit enjoyed it a lot, and eventually made a joke at the end saying "Based how he's another Yukari enjoyer." He also said to "play a real SMT game", but he says that to everyone so lmao. I also loved it and, while I dislike Yukari immensely, I can look at her with a different perspective now, even if it's just slightly different. I am also sad that he didn't talk about Fuuka or Akihiko as much, but I understand there really wasn't as much depth to talk about with them as the rest of the cast.
Finally, a persona 3 retrospective that doesn’t beat it like a dead horse over how archaic it is. Definitely loved your editing here, from the transitions to the trivia. I think my only problem here is that you skipped out on Fuuka’s, Akihiko’s and Koromaru’s character. Even if it isn’t as impactful as say Yukari’s or Junpei’s character arc, they still grow through out the year. I know you said that you’re taking a break from large projects, but I hope one day you’ll do a deep dive on Dr.Maruki. The little you showed us here makes for a great discussion. Just finished watching. You've outdone yourself with this video. Specifically with regards to Yukari in The Answer, while I'm not entirely convinced by her characterization, you've at least allowed me to see a different perspective on it, so thanks.
I found this video on my recommended earlier today and man... It was *so* good. The editing, the analysis overall, the little fun facts, *everything.* Videos like this reminds me of both how much I love Persona 3, and why it's my favorite game of all time. (Also, another person whose favorite character in the whole franchise is Aigis? Let's goooo! :D )
I can’t imagine how much time this took to put together, but we do wild things for the stuff we love. Can’t wait to indulge in this once P3 comes to current gen consoles! I can already tell this is one of your best~
Wow, just wow. Seeing all of this come together is beautiful and a culmination of more than a year of work and love. The presentation is absolutely awesome. Your talking points that were previewed such as Yukari in the Answer are refreshing as always! If I had to say one thing though since this was focused on S.E.E.S it did feel apparent Fuuka or Akihiko weren’t talked about much if at all. I get that Koromaru is pretty unexplored and Fuuka doesn’t have a lot going for her but I felt as though Akihiko could’ve gotten a bit of light, especially after coming of Ken but at the same time you were only talking about characters that really, as you put it, hit different ^TM. Aside from that honestly I would’ve liked to hear what you had to say about social links a bit more since they didn’t get the brightest amount of time though I could see why they weren’t included as they could’ve been seen as a side track from the main point of the retrospective (plus there’s already tons of videos about them so in a way it would be hard to say something original about them). aside from those nitpicks that I can see both pros and cons about, I’m glad I got the chance to have time to sit and watch this from beginning to end and to see a content creator I didn’t know would dabble into a series I love after viewing your channel as being focused on zombies. Although it’s possible we won’t see a project like this for a very long time if at all I laughed so many times, still got all the feels I got from the previews and more from the full package. I’m right with you in saying that P3 is a game that just sticks with me. In the end I loved this retrospective and hope by some chance you can find more pieces of media that move you the way P3 did because the presentation and passion is on full display here and I’m all for watching you talk about anything
Seeing you slowly but surely develop this video on twitter was a journey, dude. Definitely gonna pick out a time and place to watch this like its some movie documentary or something, it deserves the treatment👍
Stories that focus on the character's internal struggles and pasts are always the ones that people feel the most connected to. There's a reason why characters like Jinx (from Arcane) became so beloved in their respective communities. Characters can be funny and goofy, sure, but the more you know about why they do that, the better they become to interact with or watch.
I've always been drawn to stories that focus on death. For so many of us, we don't know why we're here, I still don't. We try to find a purpose, but whatever that is, we can never be sure. The only thing we do know, is that it won't last forever. Death is coming, and each day that passes is a day you don't get back. Focusing on that is insanity, makes you wonder what the point even is if it seems like you may never have enough time to find your reason for living before time finally runs out. How do you live each day before then? That's a struggle, every single day. But it's why games like Persona 3, Shadow Hearts, and PMD Explorers have always resonated with me the most. Because they capture that struggle and feeling, and give me hope going forward.
I spent almost half the runtime of this video crying my eyes out. Normally, I only ever see this kind of existential crisis-inducing stuff from guys like Jacob Geller. You know what I'm talking about, the kind that pulls your heart and soul from your body, minces them into a sausage, smashes said sausage back into meat, crudely reforms it, and crams it back in with all those little insecurities, imperfections, tragedies, and other negativities firmly back on the outside. I think part of what makes the effect stronger here is the utterly frank delivery you have behind a lot of the lines that made me tear up. Treating it all like it's completely normal...because it is. Please for the love of god, both do more and never do this again, I'm not sure my eyes could actually handle crying this much for this long.
i find it so awesome that you grew to love the persona series because i already loved watching your videos because of cod zombies but to see that you love another franchise i hold very close to my heart. Anyways amazing work on this video i could feel the amount of effort you put into it after seeing you constantly say “im working on this” at the end of each video
I’ve been watching you for almost a decade now J rizzo and I’ve always loved your content, I recently started the persona series 3 years ago. And I loved it, so when I saw this video I clicked on it right away and enjoyed it. To see you upload an amazing video on one of my top 5 games of all time is amazing
The very existence of this video is wild to me. It’s this amazingly well edited, well told retrospective that has great analysis. And it’s by someone who exclusively makes COD Zombies videos. How did we get from A to B Anyway this is one of my favorite videos on youtube so thank you for making this Mandela Effect Universe Slip
In the time it took you to finally put out this video I played P5R and then went on to do several playthroughs of the Modern Persona games, almost finished the classic trilogy, and even started playing the other Megaten games....so yeah it's been a minute. But I'm glad your passion for the series a few years ago got me to give this series another chance, Persona 3 has genuinely helped me move past grief I've had brewing inside me for awhile. It's been a pleasure watching your magnum opus! Edit: I come back to this video to rewatch, see my old comment with a small error, fix it, and now Rizzo's heart is gone :(
Sin duda este es el mejor vídeo sobre P3 que he visto. Nunca ví que alguien utilizara la música del juego tan bien. En serio, muy buen trabajo con la edición, muy buen vídeo. :)
THANK you for covering how one of the game’s main themes, death, is conveyed through MC’s (potential) apathy in the game and especially the movie, as well as covering P3 in general. It’s such a nice touch and I rarely see it talked about. It kind of took me by surprise since I’m so used to your zombies content, but this is still an excellent video and fantastic work as always, rizzo
Would be ecstatic if you remake this video after now we had persona 3 reload released, because in my opinion, your video just tick all the boxes about everything that need to be said when you want to explain how this game is portrayed through our perspective the one who played it and understand the narrative that put into it, to the others that who had their opinion also/the one who interested about this game/ or maybe people who loved a impactful game that stay with you forever
This is by far one of your best videos ever, hell even got me emotionally when you were talking about facing yourself head on or ignoring it. If you ever decide on making more persona videos about specific parts of the games I would love to hear what you have to say involving Maruki. Other than that, thanks for being such a damn good content creator, hope you have a nice day.
Congratulations on finishing this project and thx for interducing me to this amazing franchise 😎😎 About a year ago I’ve never played any persona game but somehow I was interested in the franchise after several time you mentioned the game here on UA-cam Now 7 months later after I finshed 3 and 4 it was an amazing experience and now I’ve never been more excited for a Retrospective video than this one :D
awesome to see this upload since i joined the channel due to Zombies… i recently finished P3 as my first ever turn based RPG and absolutely loved it, and it makes me happy to see you did too :))
While I'm not the biggest fan of Persona 3's gameplay, I always loved its story and themes. But honestly? You made me appreciate them all the more, especially those present in The Answer. Despite the fact that Persona 5 Royal is my favorite entry in the series, Persona 3's story and themes resonated so much more with me and are truly beautiful. However, I am ever so slightly disappointed you didn't mention the Sun social link (I always forget his name lol), but at least you showed gameplay of it, so it's fine (obviously joking). Fantastic review, Rizzo. It was very well put together, enjoyable, and as stated earlier, it made me appreciate P3 more.
Glad you enjoyed it! There was so much more I wanted to talk about than what made it on-screen, but at some point, I realized I needed to cut it down a bit if I wanted this to remain at a "reasonable" length. Poor Mr. Sun was one of those cut things...
I have watched so many essays on Persona 3 and the rest of the franchise in the three years since I started playing the games. P3 holds a special place in my heart and from this video I could reconnect with the feelings I had while playing it and watching/reading other adaptations of the story. This video is the greatest display of love for Persona 3 I've seen to date. And Persona 3 must be one of the greatest displays of love for human life to date. Thank you so much for making this. I'm not into zombies for I'll always remain subscribed to this channel from now on. Excellent, excellent video.
After watching this and the saw review, I want to say this video style is absolutely amazing and impactful. I’ve played persona 4 and 5, but I never played 3 and was honestly scared to for the longest time. But after seeing the emotional impact it’s had on you and other fans here, I’m going to find a way to play it. You’ve got a real gift for explaining how these things make you feel and I’m very excited to see what you do next
Love, love, loved this retrospective. Persona 3 was my first Persona game, and as such, it was the one that introduced me to the series and made me fall in love with it all the same. However, I was much younger when I touched P3, so admittedly, I've forgotten a lot of those things within it that spoke deeply to my heart. This video helped me remember those things, and gave me a new perspective on the game that my current, more mature self can carry forward. Thank you!
only just now got around to watching this but THANK YOU for your yukari section. it really sucks that people dont seem to get what makes her such a good and realistic character and just call her a bitch.
I love it. This was well worth the wait. While I understand not doing full on retrospectives like this again please don’t be afraid to branch out to do little digests of other media besides cod zombies. Your takes and viewpoints are so refreshing and I relate to a lot of them. Fantastic job rizzo and thank you for making this masterpiece
Another common Jr Rizzo 666 W, I’ve been watching for a long time and this is an amazing step outside of zombies and I’d absolutely love you to dive into more games, well done John!
i have been waiting for this video for so long and the wait was worth it, this video is truly wonderful and an amazing overview of Persona 3. i hope for more videos like this in the future. keep up the awesome work
I’ve been watching this video on and off since it came out. Slowly but surely getting myself through the full 2 hours of content. First off, WOW! What a video. As someone who didn’t really know anything about persona (apart from your Twitter posts). This video was a super entertaining, informative and interesting video to watch. I can also really see your passion behind the video as well, and hearing about your thoughts on each character/major plot point was incredibly informative and fun to listen to as an outsider. Honestly this video was so worth the wait. Great job rizzo
This was an amazing review Rizzo, probably your best. I was listening to it while at work and got a little choked up at times. I’ve never played or known anything about P3 before this review. Can’t wait for your next review!
This was such a good watch! This video only served to reaffirm my love for Persona 3, and even opened up some new viewpoints on little details I didn't notice during my playthrough. Thank you so, so much for making this! ...But on the other hand, watching this has made me way too impatient to wait for my second playthrough, thanks a bunch.
I really loved this video from start to finish. P3 is weird for me cause it theoretically shouldn't be my favorite persona game, but for the reasons you've started, it just is. Thank you for your hard and entertaining work
wow im just in total awe. this video is an absolute treat, from the infographics to the editing to the script- it was just incredible. im totally new to your channel, i just found this video after finishing my replay of p3 portable, but im so glad i got to watch this!! your analysis is so refreshing and heartwarming and it's so clear that you're passionate towards this game, and that's something i love to see in video essays. zombies may not be my thing but ill definitely keep up with your channel ^__^ (side note: you are SO RIGHT for including characterization from other media, its a great way to properly analyze characters in their full context.)
You skipped out a bit on how junpei views villains, as shown the SL when going to the cinema, he gives a speech on how it feels more satisfying to beat up straight up evil people, but gets reluctant when they reveal their backstory. In all of sees, he was the only one who tried to stop takaya and jin from jumping off the bridge, even though he wanted them dead when they killed chidori, at the final battle he spares takaya and jin (though they killed themselves) he was still very sad, he still wanted both of them to live even after nyx was falling down. he cherishes life because he understands them via understanding chidori, and values life. On the other hand. Akihiko is a massive ass in certain parts of the games. In the movie he tried to impale chidori with polyduces massive arm needle in front of junpei's face like wtf! Yeah he was trying to do what he thought was right, but bruh they out number them and its frickin strega, they are not strong as natural persona users. If he did kill chidori, im pretty sure junpei would feel utterly crushed, betrayed and commit you know what. There's this certain scenes in both games and other media where he just straight up chooses to kill even if the situation barely calls to it. Its very weird.
Also if you quote junpei supporting akihiko's decision to kill metis before going down the abyss. He does an offhand speech in his fight that they are on good terms. Even though the fight itself was completely unnecessary Literally one of the reasons on why the jp persona fandom hated the answer back in the day, just look at comments in nicovideos or 2chan archives.
Also ken straight up choose to kill the fake junpei in p4au without checking/caring if it was the real one or not, he just went and said : "i will kill anyone for my beliefs even if my enemy is a friend". Like bruh..... No wonder new persona fans think p3 has the weakest bonds.
I just finished watching the whole thing, in one sitting. Which is weird, because I’ve never been interested in Persona before. Honestly, I didn’t even know what it was about, but I’ve always enjoyed the quality of your content so I wanted to give it a chance… and I don’t regret it one bit. Great work, man :)
Wow this is genuinely the best persona (and possibly game review) I’ve seen!!! You highlighted every single point that was essential (and while not as important overall it would have been nice to have a little bit on akihiko, shinji, koromaru, and fuuka individually even if they don’t have the same depth of the other SEES members. Thank you soooooooo much for taking on this project and I’d be overjoyed to see any other content on the persona series made by you! Stay safe and remember to drink some water 💕💕💕
just finished watching the whole thing, good shit. please do more things you wanna do because i can see the effort here with my eyes and its really good.
Listened to this in the background of Shi no Numa Reborn a couple of weeks ago and after rewatching this video three times, looking at your sweet renders, and other fan art, I am now into this game and trying to play P3:FES. God damn you, now I'm gonna spent so many hours on these games. In all seriousness, this video is fantastic and despite watching your for your zombies content, I was always interested to see this video and fell in love with all the hud stuff and your deep dive into things, along with the shit posts you do. Fantastic jobs Rizzo.
Damn I’m going to the beach, once I get back I am 100% and 1000% gonna be Bumpin this video as soon as I get home. Been looking forward to this video ever since it’s announcement which feels like it’s been over a year. We love your content Rizzo
What an incredible video. Truly worth the wait! There were a lot of moments throughout where you pretty much put into words exactly how I felt about certain plot points and relationships. You just like me fr! Also, as an aside, I noticed Akihiko doesn't really get talked about at all in this video. Is there a reason for that, or did he just kinda not resonate with you?
It's a combination of him not resonating as strongly for me as well as cutting that part down so it didn't feel too long. Originally, I had one for Akihiko, Fuuka and Shinjiro in that part, but it was just going on way too long. That segment was easily the one that gave me the most problems.
Hey, everyone! Thanks for tuning in! This one certainly took a hot minute to figure out, but I'm really happy with the end product and I hope you enjoyed watching!
Well done man, I know you’ve worked hard on this one, looking forward to watching all of it!
Seeing you slowly but surely develop this video on twitter was a journey, dude. Definitely gonna pick out a time and place to watch this like its some movie documentary or something, it deserves the treatment👍
Probably your best video. The amount of work put in is astonishing. Awesome stuff
I've been waiting for this.
I want to congratulate you John. After 1 year in the making, it is well worth the wait
His stuff reminds me of Codex Entry
This video is beautiful, thank you for making it.
i find it so awesome that you grew to love the persona series because i already loved watching your videos because of cod zombies but to see that you love another franchise i hold very close to my heart.
How did we get from A to B
Anyway this is one of my favorite videos on youtube so thank you for making this Mandela Effect Universe Slip
Rizzo, i think out of all of your videos this is your most creatively driven and beautifully made video yet, and i’m glad i waited!
A 2 hour, well edited, well produced essay about Persona 3 and it's only got 28k views!? Man, this deserves way more attention.
Edit: I come back to this video to rewatch, see my old comment with a small error, fix it, and now Rizzo's heart is gone :(
I need take time out watch this but congrats Rizzo I can't wait to watch this fully the way I intend to watch it
Sin duda este es el mejor vídeo sobre P3 que he visto. Nunca ví que alguien utilizara la música del juego tan bien. En serio, muy buen trabajo con la edición, muy buen vídeo. :)
Jesus man this video was so amazing! Good stuff man!
Absolutely amazing video, Rizzo.
Watching the updates on Twitter for the past Eon has made this truly worth the wait
Congratulations on finishing this project and thx for interducing me to this amazing franchise 😎😎
About a year ago
I’ve never played any persona game but somehow I was interested in the franchise after several time you
mentioned the game here on UA-cam
Now 7 months later after I finshed 3 and 4 it was an amazing experience and now I’ve never been more excited for a Retrospective video than this one :D
This is probably my favorite P3 video.
Thank You Jr Rizzo. Always made me laugh no matter what video it is
Rizzo, this is literally bussin', existential style.
Thank you for the experience once again!
awesome to see this upload since i joined the channel due to Zombies… i recently finished P3 as my first ever turn based RPG and absolutely loved it, and it makes me happy to see you did too :))
Sadly I wasn't around when this video came out but god it was a banger
So happy to finally see the full review, watching the preview you released a few months back was the video that got me into Persona as a series.
Seriously, you put out the best analysis of games bar none. It's a damn shame how under appreciated you are. Keep it up man.
Probably the best video that focuses on this game, loved it
5 minutes in and I can already see the insane amounts of passion and work put into this. Here’s hoping to see one for the following games
I’ve been following your channel for a while and I can’t even begin to describe how EXCITED I am to see that you’re a fellow Persona fan 😭
Thank you!
This was a great video! Thanks for making it, your enthusiasm is infectious and your analysis was inspiring!
This was an absolute joy to watch and well worth the wait. Looking forward to whatever is next.
Amazing video, stuff like this is why I’ll always watch anything you make!
only just now got around to watching this but THANK YOU for your yukari section. it really sucks that people dont seem to get what makes her such a good and realistic character and just call her a bitch.
I just beaten Persona 3 for the first time and I’ve been looking everywhere for a video like this. Thank you!
Must of been amazing to finally press the Publish Video Button on UA-cam well done man
you have no idea lmao
Just finished all three games plus the answer. Can finally watch this video.
This is an amazing video by all means
Very glad it showed up on my UA-cam timeline
"That one mobile game that's essentially lost media"
Not anymore because they just announced Aigis The First Mission is coming to Switch and Steam!
I just stumbled upon this video because i was going back to your old cod music videos and saw this uploaded. Nice
Great job rizzo
thanks for reminding me why i love this game so much jesus christ, great video man
This was an amazing review Rizzo, probably your best.
King Rizzy, you have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for this
I really loved this video from start to finish. P3 is weird for me cause it theoretically shouldn't be my favorite persona game, but for the reasons you've started, it just is. Thank you for your hard and entertaining work
wow im just in total awe. this video is an absolute treat, from the infographics to the editing to the script- it was just incredible. im totally new to your channel, i just found this video after finishing my replay of p3 portable, but im so glad i got to watch this!! your analysis is so refreshing and heartwarming and it's so clear that you're passionate towards this game, and that's something i love to see in video essays. zombies may not be my thing but ill definitely keep up with your channel ^__^ (side note: you are SO RIGHT for including characterization from other media, its a great way to properly analyze characters in their full context.)
really enjoyed this Rizzo, been following you for years now and this is by far your best video. can't wait to see what you do next.
I appreciate this video for introducing me into the wonderful Persona franchise even if 3 wasn’t my favourite in the series. Thanks Rizzo.
I been waiting for this and i will burn my bread to this
You skipped out a bit on how junpei views villains, as shown the SL when going to the cinema, he gives a speech on how it feels more satisfying to beat up straight up evil people, but gets reluctant when they reveal their backstory.
Even though the fight itself was completely unnecessary
Literally one of the reasons on why the jp persona fandom hated the answer back in the day, just look at comments in nicovideos or 2chan archives.
Also ken straight up choose to kill the fake junpei in p4au without checking/caring if it was the real one or not, he just went and said :
"i will kill anyone for my beliefs even if my enemy is a friend".
Like bruh..... No wonder new persona fans think p3 has the weakest bonds.
😂 i always though akihiko is kinda an ass
@@vivvy_0same, but thats makes him even more interesting! Such a good character!
I. Love. This. Video. Everything you covered was so well said and I could tell you really love P3. Amazing work.
Stay safe and remember to drink some water 💕💕💕
incredible video like always, you can see the effort put into it everywhere. Keep it up rizzo!
The editing in this video goes so hard, great work
just finished watching the whole thing, good shit. please do more things you wanna do because i can see the effort here with my eyes and its really good.
I just finished the journey completely blind, ive been waiting for so long to watch this and now i can watch the first half :)))))
vudeo ruined: deep breath deep breath is not a bad song take that back >:(
Listened to this in the background of Shi no Numa Reborn a couple of weeks ago and after rewatching this video three times, looking at your sweet renders, and other fan art, I am now into this game and trying to play P3:FES.
Finally played Persona 3 thanks to Reload and can finally watch this video
I ain't hearing no Deep Breath slander
The mad lad did it. Congrats man, super happy for you.
I've been waiting for this Mr Rizzo
I hope you do the other games, PQ and PQ2 never get talked about at all, I am so happy you mentioned them
i only came across this video recently but goddamn the editing is just insane!
