One Thing I Love About Every Call of Duty Zombies Map

- Throughout it's 14 year run, Zombies has been the thing that's really helped set the Call of Duty franchise apart from countless other first-person military shooters for me. Even though the quality has been all over the place, I'm personally of the mind that every single map has something to offer, even if it's something tiny. So today, I wanted to go through every single one of them and point out something I love about it, whether that's some easter egg, a wunder weapon or even just a little lore tidbit.

Hope you all enjoyed this little look through COD Zombies! Like I said at the end, I'm curious as to what little things y'all love about Zombies as well!
BTW, If I sound different between certain segments, it's because I recorded a lot of this on separate days. I TRIED to make it all sound similar, but I sound slightly different literally every time I record and sometimes even in the same session. soz lol
Update time: I feel like I say this every time but, its been a hot minute, huh? The IWZ retrospective was supposed to be next I know and this video was actually supposed to be out in April, but creative burnout is a bitch. I haven't the faintest as to when the next video will be out either since I've been spending most of my free time making render art or playing completely different games like Bayonetta and Ultrakill, plus I'm still kinda burnt-out. Could be next month. Could be when Outbreak 2 comes out in November. Who knows? Regardless of what's next and when, I'm really happy with how this video turned out and I hope you all enjoyed watching it.
Take care, everyone :)
I'm sad you didn't Flashbang the unenlightened with buff Peck in the first 20 seconds like you joked about doing
Would love to see a video about ultrakill! That game is so genuinely amazing and seeing it getting more love is great
Don't worry Rizzo, take your time, enjoy your free time and just do what makes you happy. Your content is awesome as always, so don't worry about making us wait, we'll be happy to be there when you are done with your next project :)
Take it easy rizzo, love what you put out regardless of when it gets published ❤
Hey J Rizz, have you ever heard of Deep rock Galactic, cause I a huge zombies fan, so to fuel my zombies addiction I play Deep rock Galactic. It’s a Co-op survival game where you slay bugs, do objectives, and play with fun weapons as a dwarf. (My 5’6 friend can relate)
3:30 fun fact: those images with the zombies rising from the hill are real pictures. The only thing they changed were the eyes glowing. What the nazis we’re actually doing in the original picture was surrendering but with just a simple change of the eyes, the entire picture changes
As a Bo1 Veteran.
And an 9 year old at Release.
I was young and was a little History Buff. And part of me when they saw that said. "Are they surrendering?"
And that gave me nightmares.
Because imagine that. Your an American in a Trench somewhere. Shotgun in hand. And you hear sick men groaning.
You peak over the trench to observe what could be a trap. But you see dozens of sick. Ill and dieing men. Surrendering from your angle.
Now imagine after all that they notice the eyes.
No one on GODS EARTH is gonna know that their 115-Infested. At first. But that's gonna make a man shiver. And then hes gonna have to think.
"Can I even shoot these sick, surrendering men?"
Before they get close and it's either too late; or they hear the screams and begin fireing...
We know how Origins went.

“Kino der toten….the theatre is broken”
That nod to borderline disaster gave me a shot of nostalgia holy crap!
Matoimaru gang
I was wondering when someone would mention that.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who remembers that 😁
Those songs were iconic in the BO1 days
"In the Pentagon, Five trying to stay alive."
The jumpscares are at 9:31, stay safe everyone :)
Thank you for telling us, I almost poopyed my pants, but I checked the comment section and came prepared
thanks king, my britches remain un-shitten for another day
I’m no wuss like these 2
It's funny because i missed it
I was watching at 2X speed
My favourite thing from the Chaos storyline were Rizzo's cameos as the Homonculus
No, Tomar covered for him in ix because rizzo refuses to fly Spirit Airlines
I yelled out in pain when you said "The Theater is Broken". I felt my middle school years flash before my very eyes. My god
Lmaooo facts
Bro borderline disaster was my highschool experience
Same. I was 14 in middle school back in 2018, but I was a huge zombies fan back then and had all the other cod zombies. It was like a dream come true.
wake up babe, new Rizzo video dropped
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Thanks babe
I can tell u don’t have a gf
Cringe
Which babe???
I love the calling cards you created for the maps. Really puts into perspective their overall uniqueness and charm.
Yeah, I really liked the idea of each one having its own emblem
I agree it’s the small things
That Borderline Disaster reference hit my nostalgia like a train
Can’t stop, can’t stop!
When I’m in a being based competition and my opponent is Rizzo:
But seriously, you’re my favorite Zombies youtuber. You’re always fair in your review and most importantly not always negative.
Average twitter fan, seriously this guy is a bit too obsessed with zombies
@@adriansrsa90 mfw when someone enjoys something
One of my favorite things about Classified is the continuation of Dr. Schuster from his story arc from Moon. Listening to the radios and learning about how he was adjusting to his new work environment, while also listening to how the US Government was learning about the zombie outbreaks on Kino and Shang.
Everything about Classified's radio lore is just, awesome. :)
Also, great job with the video Rizzo! Loved every minute of it!
Radios on Classified and Tag are great. W take
8:35 I love the reference to the musical 😂
Also, love the more upbeat energy in this video! It makes watching more fun knowing the creator is having fun too.
new rizzo video everyone, grab your popcorn
the jumpsxares are at 9:31
Thank you. We don't want anyone getting too spooked :(((((
Thanks for the alert I would’ve been scared to sleep
Rizzo knowing what you'll go through to find obscure, miscellaneous content in game for footage is what made me look into the Venom X quest to see "Ok- where's the line in the sand drawn?" and I completely get it.
6:38 It wasn't even a major transition, but I still love the switch from Damned to Damned 100AE that happens from BO1 to BO2. Feels like the track escalates as it progresses into a newer zombies title.
Also like the syncing that you've done when announcing another map. A small thing, but it helps keep the "flow" of things
I know im in a minority but i really like the magical elements of zombies, and having them mix with the more modern/futuristic weapons really feels fun to me. it makes it feel like this story is the culmination of many timelines.
My god, i love the little symbols that represent each zombies map!
Exo Zombies may get shit on a lot (which is fair, doubt anyone likes EMZs), but I really like how the maps have lots of little things. From the alt ending in Outbreak to the grenade pachinko machine in Carrier. It also has very cool traps, most maps just have a mix of damaging barriers or maybe a sentry, but Chompy and the Alligator always brighten my day.
The calling card like intros for each map look amazing, great work! I'm a pretty big zombies fan myself but you told me stuff here that I didn't even realize like how the dentist chair vision in Kino is actually Verruckt before the outbreak. No idea how I didn't get that, it's extremely obvious looking back. Also glad you talked about the non Treyarch maps too. While I haven't played the second half of AW's maps and every single IW map outside of Spaceland, I still love talking about those maps and it sucks that so many zombie youtubers just ignore them or mock them to hell and back. I'm not saying they HAVE to be fans of those maps or experiences, I just think it gets really boring when people just talk about the Treyarch maps over and over again.
Overall fantastic video!
15:35 my favorite thing about Revelations is the song. “The Gift” composed/produced by Kevin Sherwood, with Elena Siegman. Elena’s vocals are so good. She’s been killing it since Lullaby of a Deadman and for Kevin oh my god he KILLS with it the electric guitar. Absolutely shredding it. The song is so hype, jumpy, and fucking epic. The lyrics OH MY GATTT. That’s one thing I love about all zombies maps is always looking forward for each new song. I was pretty disappointed with Cold wars music. “Alone” WAS A BANGER! Firebase’s song pretty cool. Maur Der Toten was just a copyrighted song. And Forsaken song while i get the reference. I just wish we got some Metal dude. Metal and zombies just goes together like peanut butter and jelly. Except for shadows the jazz in that went hard. I THINK it’s the only zombies map 2 and half songs. Well “Snakeskin boots” has two version the instrumental and lyrical. And the second song is cold hard cash and it’s so good. Holy fuck.
7:14 If I had to guess, it’s probably due to licensing of the guns.
Considering it’s literally named the “HK416” in the files, it’s possible they just never bothered to get the license to use it (since it is just *one* gun). Either that, or they just ported over the assets for it as a test weapon, and forgot to remove it or forgot to make it a playable weapon.
This video was amazing omg I can't even explain. This man has the best editing and care in this community. I almost cried when it was over. Quality over anything. My man keep your wonderful work. Don't throw away your skills
For got to say I love you dad
Btw just wanted to say, the little calling cards for each map/game all looked really good. Buff peck was something I wasnt expecting. Keep it up man
Gotta be fair there, Rizzo. Whenever Nolan North voices a robot, you know damn well it's gonna be hysterical.
I know I’m basically a year late but 3:32 is a genuine war photo of surrendering german soldiers, just edited a little bit to make them look like zombies. That’s why it feels a little creepier than most imagery in the series. Also, I miss you Mr. Ron Jizzo :(
Fun fact: the pictures of the zombies holding their arms up on the Kino projector screen is an edited real life photo of German(?) soldiers surrendering, if I'm remembering correctly
Really enjoyed the journey this video took us on. Thanks for the great editing, Rizzo! 💙🧟♂
A true love of zombies! The time & care you put into highlighting special details from each map does wonders in sparking a better appreciation for every single map, especially in the age of slanderous tier lists.
This video is really reminding me of just why this mode means as much to me as it does, almost everything so far both big and small lines up with what i love about these maps
a fun fact, at 3:30 you say the photo of the zombies looks like it was taken by a war photographer when it actually was! it was originally a photo of soldiers surrendering i think? and it was edited so they had glowing eyes to look like cod zombies
"Kino der toten, the theatre is broken"
I dont know how little people got that reference.
So iconic and banger these songs.
This man made high quality cards for every god damn map, and music transition. Rizzo never ceases to amaze me with how technically competent his videos are.
he even made cards for various other movies, shows, and games that are barely relevant to the video and honestly that's amazing
Dude ngl I love that calling card format when you show a map/game
By Jove, the editing in this is truly supreme Rizzo. You’ve outdone yourself once again. Completely unique text boxes and fonts for every respective series, even unrelated ones like FNAF is absolutely insane. Bravo my man, bravo. Amazing video as always too, extremely concise an informative while spending just enough time on jokes and gags to maintain a constant smooth flow for the video all the way through. I don’t know how you do it man, keep it up!
As usual, you dropped an absolute banger with this video! I loved the whole thing, but there were two moments that particularly stuck out to me, that I'll list below!
1. Your favorite moment in Der Eisendrache being the end cutscene, and the fact that it is the first time that Zombies had an emotionally effecting moment. I cheered when I saw that, as it's my favorite moment in that map, too! Playing BOI, and seeing Ultimis be these silly stereotypes of WWII soldiers from their respective countries was funny, no doubt, but I guess I subconsciously thought that that was what Zombies would always be. But then that cutscene came in, and it made me see these characters in a new, mature light, which is a credit to both the writing in BOIII Zombies, and the performances of Nolan North, Steve Blum, Fred Tatasciore and Tom Kane! Everything about that scene: Dempsey's resignation in not wanting to, but needing to, be the one to kill his alternate self; Richtofen's taking a chance on Dempsey and letting him be the one to push the button; and then Richtofen's hesitation in putting a hand on Dempsey's shoulder to try and comfort him, a very human action that seemed like Richtofen had never done with anyone before, it's sheer perfection. And then having Richtofen's quote from Revelations, "When I died, I felt nothing. When Dempsey died, I felt... something. When Takeo died, I knew I had to try to save them." (which I've memorized from watching your The Gift Director's Cut video constantly), come in to crystallize the power of that moment for him, was amazing and really built on what that moment meant, both for him and for the many of us watching that cutscene for the first time.
2. 27:32! That brilliant edit of letting Samantha's Peace fade out perfectly into the round change (at least, I'm pretty sure what that was) of Die Maschine and CWZ as a whole! I never would have heard that natural progression, and I'd be very curious how you figured that connection out, but I'm pretty sure some Treyarch employee is cheering that someone out there got what they were trying to connect in those two pieces of music! Seriously, it was perfect, and made such a natural transition from BOIIII to CW that made me appreciate even more the care and craft you put into every single video you upload.
Sorry for an extremely long message, but I truly appreciated this video, and I'll be there the next time you upload your next video! Hope you have a great rest of your day, too, and thanks again!
What I love most about this video is having seen all of your map review and seeing how your opinions changed or stayed the same. Also love the Borderline disaster Easter eggs
Love the special cards/banners for each game, great editing and dedication.
Not sure why this video of all of them sent me on a nostalgia trip more-so than other videos, but the BO1 and BO3 DLC seasons were so much fun and so nostalgic. You nailed it with this one.
Something I absolutely love about Alpha Omega is the build up to the beginning of the boss fight. Hearing the sirens start wailing one by one, knowing what’s going to happen give me a literal spine chills the playing at the first time.
3:10 god damn im scared beware beware. What a throwback its how i originally found your channel so its cool to see you reference BD
Something i kinda wished you mentioned at least once were the ee songs these are so amazing and constantly good and nearly always in one my playlists and the best part is that they tie in with the themes of the map without hard tying themselves to zombies so they can be played outside of a gaming session
Thank you for this video. Seriously. I've spent hours on hours on EACH map and to see all in one video is a treat.
That music transition between tag and die maschine is heavenly, i feel like ive seen a glimpse of god
This was so good rizzo. My favorite thing is the unique perk jingles in shadows of evil. Those are neat
I love the little detail of the select sounds match their game. So cool!
Personally one thing I love about each map is that no matter what dev or map tries, it's always gonna be a different experience with new mechanics or the sort
You are the first person I have actually heard other than myself to appreciate the skybox in Die Rise and I thank you for that.
Always a treat to see you upload, also quite nice to have a Zombies video that's 100% positive. We don't get those much on UA-cam. Which is probably for the best, but hey, good to have one every now and then! Also ay, BD/Lhugueny references! Ya love to see it.
Even the worst of maps have a variety of things that make them special to play. So much time and effort spent on making each map feel unique. I really like that about this series, and you showcase that really well in your reviews. There's always a variety of good things to talk about, even if the bad sometimes outweighs it.
My favorite little thing in general about the mode is how different the vibe of the map can get depending on which specific crew member you are. Richtofen going insane and reciting a lot of his Ultimis counterparts quotes on The Giant, Sam shit talking Richtofen upon him reaching Groom Lake in Classified, the Stulinger+Richtofen dynamic on all of the victis maps (lot of Richtofen stuff, huh), etc. One of the main reason I love the crews so much, you really get to feel like you're looking at the map through their eyes in the best case scenario.
Great vid, per usual! Looking forward to whatevers next
I don't know how every time Rizzo uploads a Zombies video makes me wanted to go back and play it. His videos are so good with those little details that aren't necessary but very appreciated ❤️
God your videos are always just so well made, can always tell there’s a ton of effort in these
J Cole is now copying the John Rizzo model of coming in with a bang and going out with a whimper
What i love most about firebase z is when the easter egg doesn't bug out, because it does that 9/10 times
That's pretty cool. My second favorite part is where you make the mistake of buying Elemental Pop early on in the match so it becomes almost impossible to do the Mimic capture step later on without Brain Rot or Napalm Burst popping :)))))
@@Jrrizzo Why i never buy Elemental Pop
I love finding radios and learning about the story through visuals. I obsessed over the map details as a kid and still do, and I loved the Intel system in Cold War. All the lore in one menu that I could check anytime I was theorizing, hope it comes back
Great vid! Your edits are jaw dropping
Finally! You released the video! Thank you Rizzo you just made my day! Hope everything is well!
And the thing I really love about zombies, is when the higher ups decided to make this mode a reality all the way back in 2008 (yup, my favorite thing about the mode is that it exist) . That fact we were really close to not have horde survival mode in Call of duty makes me really think, what would happen if they actually canceled the mode.
Great video! Nice to hear some genuine positive words towards some of the lesser liked maps.
The Juno’s are us at 9:31!!!
Great video as always Rizzo.
babe wake up, John Rizzo just uploaded another video
but really, the way my love for zombies just turns right back on the second I watch any of your stuff lol, keep it up
The one with video sequence im Kino is so chilling because it’s an original war photography. Love how they put stuff like this in the game😌
Zombies is such a diverse game mode and has plenty for everyone. And to think it all came from a small little side project in waw. I respect the effort put into this video man. Really clean. The work shows (:
The blending of music in this video is so good
Glad to see I didn’t get the notification for this
Great stuff rizzo
Great to see another video from you and the editing within this one is the best I've seen (mainly due to the personal titles).
I would love to see something like this but for persona (as your p3 video was really good), keep up the great work Rizzo.
It's really nice and refreshing to hear someone talk about zombies in a positive light for once. Feels like all anyone has to say about it nowadays is pure negativity but this video shows that there are good things about all zombies experiences. good vid
In Maur Der Toten I like the intro singing which I think returns in that map, and brings me chills when entering the map
Really nice video💪🏼
The edit at 27:30 goes comically hard
Good job, John “UA-cam” Rizzo
It’s implied and even on the wiki that Samantha Maxis is in love with Elizabeth Grey, the wiki literally says “Love Interest” for Maxis
As soon as I start binge watching rizzo he actually drops a new video
Honestly even the bad maps are still fun to play just going back and experiencing a map all over again is what makes me love zombies no run is the same and you essentially can enjoy any map however much you want
I really appreciate the fact you used different fonts for each games title card in the intro
I've been looking forward to this video for so long you have no idea
“Im gonna ‘sperg out” will never not make me laugh
great edit!
Hearing the absolutely amazing story potential revealed with the Achron is amazing, inspires me unrealistically for my own works.
The visuals on this vid are out of this world
A Rizzo upload! Always a great site to see!
The reviews are always great, but these more casual type of videos would also be real nice to see once in a while.
One thing I loved about Zombies back in the day was when fans were theorizing about a new map and what could be in it and then the devs actually made that map and such. It really felt like the people who made Zombies listened to their community and delivered.
I just like the optimistic title and video! You keep seeing videos on “this sucks” or “this failed”, where I just wanna watch someone point out what they like about a game series I also like.
The easter egg songs are my favorite thing in zombies. It's just so fun going for high round killing zombies while you listen songs ( like 115,alone,lost,dead ended, gift, were are we going, the one and more) just a sad that after firebase z I didn't find any new songs
Finding the little attention to details you put in your videos is always a blast, Rizzo. Especially with how you used the select sound for each respective game. Took me until the WW2 segement for me to notice because of all the hours I poured into that game.
Also, everyone talks about the jumpscare at 9:31, but is no-one talking about the Peck jumpscare at 28:23? That shit made me skip a beat
Rizzo always be uploading bangers
Oh my God. ITS rizzo. This mad man has returned. We must praise this man
8:37 i completely forgot this existed. The second i saw it, i remembered it all. What a time
The transition from Samantha’s Peace to the DM round change is better than sex
that musical transition from samanthas lullaby at the end of tag der toten into the die maschine round start stinger... well fucking done
Let's go the best zombies UA-camr just uploaded, Love Ya Rizzo❤️
my word zombies in space land gets me so good. My first zombies game on pc was infinite warfare, and i remember trying zombies on a whim with my friend one weekend and getting hooked. I just started playing it again recently. There is no other zombies map with so much swagger and charm for me. Maybe its nostalgia talking, but i cant get enough of it.
I love the way you recreate the game's UIs and sfx's
That nostalgic feeling that the old zombie maps give is unexplainable but if you’ve been there you know exactly what i’m talking about. So happy we still have BO3 to play some of them
Thanks for giving us positive things to other maps 😊
One thing I really love about Alpha Omega is the Easter Egg... no, not the steps themselves.
Rather the difficulty being a mixture of older games and Cold War: you are being told WHAT to do by Rushmore, but not HOW to do them, and many of the steps have simple logic behind them that takes some ingenuity to deduce.
My day just been better. Thank you Rizzo, Giggity
Neat fact me and a friend figured out with the M27 in BO3:
It is functionally identical to the ICR, animations (albeit having an earlier buggy slide animation like the shields), damage, and almost all sounds minus the reload sounds.
Its likely the M27 was a testing weapon that was used as a basis for the ICR, much like the Brecci in BO4's trailers. It was probably left in the files as a biproduct and was never truly written out of the code until after Zetsubou.
tl;dr the ICR IS the M27, just a futuristic version with a different model.
Don’t usually comment on videos but this was absolutely phenomenal hope it’s not the last one we’ll see any time soon!
I love the editor here. He did such a great job on this video (especially this part: 19:02)
Rizzo edits his own videos
the transition from the black ops 4 segment to cold war is just.....wow
Gotta agree, despite not having joined Zombies until I think Exo and/or BO3(?), hearing the Game Over laugh in Firebase Z did bring I believe second-hand nostalgia.
The sheer power of that iconic laugh works in mysterious ways I guess lol
We back at it again with another great video by rizzo
