- Held in the hilly province of Limburg, Amstel Gold Race is the only one-day WorldTour race staged in the Netherlands and is thus considered one of the biggest targets of the year for the home nation. If you’re a Dutch rider, Amstel is up there with the five Monuments in terms of racing prestige.

Cosnefroy rode a great race and was a real gentleman. Kwiat threw everything into it, though, right to the end.
I think on some level, Cosn' knew that he'd lost. From my perspective, the initial celebration seemed a tad stilted.
@counselthyself When you look at the finish line image, K's bike looks longer. Longer because he was in front of the camera longer, ie, going slower. C was going faster while crossing the line. K is doing the throw, C is pedaling. After all those hills, ouch.
A race official declared Cosnefroy winner before result was reversed 2 minutes later.

Great race Benoit did handle that incredibly well ......chapeau and Kwiato has always been cagey and crafty since joining peloton nice to see him winning again especially after hearing his interview and struggling with training or lack there of from sickness and family etc. Lot of complicated off seasons sounds like especially for the family men with kids. Asgreen had serious legs today he just never had right time to go he looks good for roubaix, and pidcock could have just as easily jumped away today as he almost did from G2, risky move, but backed out when he saw vdp and asgreen but marjked everything good team win for ineos after basque country they seem to be on roll. Coppi/Bartali too

when races are this close that it takes laser technology to figure out the winner it often makes me wonder how many other big races prior to this that had the incorrect winner instated due to misreading such close finishes ?

They really have to step up their photo finish system. Takes so long to decide on a winner for two years now 🙁
Sometimes you have to wait for all the riders to finish before processing the first riders. Depends on the particular system. With season points, the officials need to get it right for the top 30 or so.

Hi. Quick question. Over the years I've heard Michel Wuyts on Eurosport say something in Flemish when races get exciting. Guessing the spelling as Junge, junge, junge (sounds like yunga). Yesterday Adam Blythe used that during Amstel Gold. Can anyone give me a translation to English? Tried some searches online but had no luck. Thanks for all the great coverage!
he says, jonge, jonge, jonge, or sjonge jonge jonge (which would be more dutch then flemish). Jongen in Flemish means boy, however when you say it like Wuyts says it, its more an informal expression/interjection of unbelieve or amazement (like omg, are you for real?, ohlala...) For example (with 2 presenters): "Did you see how much power was behind Kwiatkowski's attack?" "Hoho, that was amazing, the followers will have to work together if they ever want to catch him; tjonge jonge jonge".

At 4:12 (slow down the footage) it's clear who's the winner - the finish photo just confirms what can be seen by the eye. Not a good job by the organisation.

Nothing wrong with the photo finish. It’s the person interpreting it or declaring the winner without looking at it who is a melon.

Car parked on the outside of a 90deg corner? He had full width of the road until the street parking strip started. I'd expect at least some tape from the organizers (or cars gone).

Spoilers again, GCN? Fine finishing collage of the Amstel riders today at the end of the Men's Race, *_but why end with two pics from the Women's Race final?_* Do you not want us to watch it? Even Carlton Kirby (barely) restrained himself....
Two takeaways from race: 1 - Second place winner was the only rider from the original front group that was not wearing a skin suit., and 2 - Around 17KM, Adam comments on the excitement between Peacock's legs. Adam - “He (Peacock) got that excitement between the legs.”, which could be related to what other's seen at 2:30.
