Imagine William being arrested for his engineering crimes, then having the corpses of his victims found inside the animatronics during the investigation. The series would have been a lot shorter, and way less complicated.

I always thought the reason they hired security guards was to act as bait so that the animatronics don't try and leave the building. They realized that the robots started acting weird and attacking things and didn't want that getting out onto the streets. Also, to answer your question about the Funtimes, they were designed to scan the room and only strike when a kid was left alone with them. No one would be around to see it, and no one would suspect that the kid is inside the robot.
They are programmed to be physically incapable of entering the saferoom, its safe to say they were probably programmed to be physically incapable of walking out the front door as well

If the goal was to give the hapless security guards just enough of an illusion of being able to defend themselves that when they are finally taken they are as terrified as possible, then the security room would be functioning perfectly.
It would also make sense if Afton Deliberately made it as terrifying as possible so that whilst he's still around he can just harvest remnant from the victims as it is implied there are night guard deaths of an unknown amount and honestly I think that's a factor that's probably massively overlooked In the theorising community just what Aftons body count is since even if we assume they all last an average of 5 days dying soon after then that's roughly 100 Victims every 2 Years and Thats Being Generous, (I think Aftons Remnant Harvesting was way bigger then most of the community thinks) (Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or person. Thank lord you actually mentioned Henry, because I was getting worried that you were accusing William of making the Springlocks entirely. In the novels, Henry is the one who made the original FNaF 1 animatronics and the Springlock suits. I do think it's possible William did know about some of the mechanism and mechanics behind the suits though since he was Henry's business partner and he knew how to use the suits in all continuities.

The Night 4 tape mentions a spring lock failure at a sister location: "After learning of an unfortunate incident at the sister location involving multiple and simultaneous spring lock failures, the company has deemed the suits temporarily unfit for employees. Safety is top priority at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, which is why the classic suits are being retired to an appropriate location (safe room) while being looked at by our technicians."
They suspected he did the murders, but they couldn't pin it on specifically him. All the evidence pointed to was that it happened at the restaurant, and the murderer used one of the suits. Since Afton never had his face showing, no evidence pointing to specifically him. It would just take a reasonably competent lawyer to show how many other people had access to the suits and the restaurant and such at the times the murders took place to get Afton off.
Yeah but there is bound to be some DNA evidence left in the suit. Sure, the police cannot narro it down to William himself but the list of suspects is still him, Henry, and 2 other employees shown in the crying child minigames. One of them is guilty and even if they couldn't see William's face, they could have checked the entire CCTV Footage and checked of the other three had any alibi.

Either the police are incompetent (which, fair point), or they couldn't pin it on specifically him with the evidence they had. but it is implied he was arrested (or someone was anyways). we aren't told anymore than that a suspect is been detained, or whatever the wording on the newspaper was. but if it was William, I would assume the charges didn't stick, because it wouldn't make sense for the timeline.
Personally I think that Henry (and probably most of the higher-level management) had to have turned a blind eye to the child murders and helped William cover it up. Whether it was from gross negligence, being obsessed with getting Charlie back, or just greed in wanting to keep the restaurant open, there's just no way that he didn't know.
The springlock suits, as far as we know, are completely safe when used properly and in accordance with standard operating procedure. The only reason William died is because he was putting the suit on hastily and in a damp environment, violating the standard operating procedure. If you operate a table saw not according to procedure, you’re liable to be injured; but that doesn’t mean that the table saw is poorly designed. As for Fredbear, the reason the pistons in the mouth are so powerful is because they need to be strong enough to actuate the presumably very heavy upper head of the animatronic. It wasn’t the strength of the pistons that caused the Bite of ‘83, it was the weight of that upper head part.
While that’s technically true, as an engineer you need to expect that people won’t follow all the rules all the time. The fact that this problem could have been solved simply by turning the srpinglocks around so that you’re not in the line of fire is what makes this so negligent and criminal. Just because nobody got hurt (until they did), doesn’t mean it’s safe
These are supposed to be used by human beings, last I checked, those sweat, getting the inside of any mascotte suits unpleasantly damp as time goes on. And in a restaurant, there is 100% chances that the suits would get splashed with a spilled drink, so moisture should have been part of the considerations when planning and testing the design. Also, quick changes are a staple of the most performances, so being able to get in and out of the suits quickly and safely becomes a basic need for them to be fit for purpose.

Very fun video, here are my thoughts as I watched: 13:40 The phone calls also mention a failure resulting in the suits getting discontinued, so at the very least an employee (or maaaybe a customer) was hurt. 13:50 Employees did wear them, as noted in the FNaF 3 phone calls and shown in the FNaF 4 minigames. 16:15 Minor nitpick, but Circus Baby's memory monologue makes it clear that she only attacks when there are no other children (and possibly no adults) present, so that drastically lowers the chance of witnesses. However, a child going missing at any point of the party and not reappearing afterward would still raise suspicion. 17:28 The company not only knows about it, they make it very clear that they hide the bodies and don't expect employees to survive, thanks to the FNaF 1 night 1 phone call. Quote: "Upon discovering that damage or death has occurred, a missing person report will be filed within 90 days, or as soon as property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced." They _do not care_ about employee life, and they probably have the doors because they want plausible deniability - "oh, the employee had these doors, they should have been able to protect themselves!". The ending actually gave me a thought: what if William and Henry were arrested for gross negligence as early as possible? What would the series of events look like afterward?
Just make the default state the suit mode, that way failures just result in an animatronic collapsing on itself when walking around rather than killing someone

My theory(Game Theory hehe) is that William’s stupidity got amplified by his psycophaty, he made the springlock suit out of his first and simplest idea, and his lack or worry for human life made him just skim over the safety process

At the time even a normal animatronic was way more involved because they were inventing new tech animatronics werent really a thing before henry made them
My only concern is how you calculated the prices. Depending on the year, you'll have to factor inflation. Still expensive, but something to note nonetheless.
My headcannon is that William and Henry were just robotics amateur's who barely did any brainstorming when making their first inventions and just rolled with it and got lucky.
6:38 this is why it’s my personal theory that Afton never used a spring lock suit for his murders as they seem too quirky for what he did. Remember how in fnaf 3, phone guy says that the Springs set off easily like with moisture and if you are going to off kids, their will be lots of blood and movement going on. While it is debated on what Glitchtrap is exactly, William did not create it. It's either William's own consciousness or a computer program influenced by his legacy. In either case, he was long "dead" by the time Glitchtrap was born.

0:12 you know, there's something that's often forgotten about the 1st game that i find frustrating that people ignore. here's a quote from a news article found in the game: *_"Five children now reported missing. Suspect convicted._* *_Five children are now linked to the incident at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, where a man dressed as a cartoon mascot lured then into a back room. While the suspect has been charged, the bodies themselves were never found."_* so, William WAS arrested. it's just nobody pays attention before i get any comments saying "then how did he end up in the suit?", i'll cover that now. while its a common belief that he died in the 90s, i believe he would have actually died (at most) months before Fazbear's Fright had begun gathering props from old locations. it's likely he either escaped, or his sentence wasn't for murder but kidnapping, as no bodies were found. this provides explanation for the ruined state of the restaurant, including the boarded up bathrooms, messed up tables, rats, leaking ceiling, among other things. further evidence to support this claim comes from his own corpse. it's still rotting. a body doesn't take 30 years to rot. even in a coffin, it wouldn't reach 10 years before the corpse becomes a skeleton. Michael has an excuse, as he's not possessing a robot but his own corpse, and he only started possessing it after Ennard left and his body, which had already rotted significantly by that point. William however is possessing the SUIT, as he wouldn't be able to move otherwise.

some slight issues that don’t really take away from the video but just for peoples information: the fredbear jaw design is a Henry design, Henry is Williams business partner, the puppet is possessed by Henry’s daughter charolette, Henry’s name is Henry Emily.
What else could have solved the power outage issue is having a manual way to open the doors or even better, a back door. Also why would there ever be two incredibly expensive heavy steel doors? Just get one if you really want to get them.
While all these points are valid, i should like to point out that the result of a springlock failure seems to be temporary death, you do come back, some may say you always come back
William certainly seems to be a person who prioritized his passion projects over his business. It is just at first that was over engineered child's entertainment and then it expanded into that and um serial murder.

Yeah, but the spring lock suit that killed him was decaying, had holes and vegetation growing on the suit, on top of the bad conditioning of the building, and it is in a state of disrepair on the suit. William also may have not even designed the suit, as Williams stitched together suit in fnaf 3 was most likely the original suit designed by him judging by the stitch marks, compared to Henry’s bulky design. He most likely used high quality springlocks, maybe too powerful to kill people. But throw all that out the window as the suits may have never been actually used, as only 2 existed. THE DOORS were designed to keep the person watching the security cameras just in case a break in would happen, so they could call 911. (They didn’t have portable phones back then) then the anatronics would attack people after hours because they’re on low power mode, as the doors would only be close of 6 out of the 16 hours saving a lot of money. While it might be considered unsafe to keep killer robots that walk around. Maybe it is because their servos lock up if left off for too long, considering if the place closes around 6, that’s 5 still five hours before 12. William always had doors in HIs astablishments. Fnaf 1, SL, and in the location before fnaf 2, he states in fnaf 2. “As you can see, there’s no doors for you to close…” all the locations he owned, all had doors to protect the night guard.
although the springlock suits were more expensive, they were more profitable in the long run because they gave the company an edge over its competitors. because of this, i wouldn't consider the creation of springlock suits to be a bad decision (in terms of cost - it's a different story when you take the dangers into account).

When people call Willy an evil genius and/or stupid, I think it depends on what one specifically means. Willy has invented some revolutionary bits of technology and is a rather skilled manipulator of people, but he's also an utter egotistic with very limited self-control. He is not a cost-smart lad, and he's impulsive. One might be able to argue he is on some level, good at actually BUILDING things, as some of this is complicated, sophisticated stuff. But he seems to care way more about appearing smart and experimenting and making it because he can, rather than being sensible in the slightest.

It would just take a reasonably competent lawyer to show how many other people had access to the suits and the restaurant and such at the times the murders took place to get Afton off.

Sure, the police cannot narro it down to William himself but the list of suspects is still him, Henry, and 2 other employees shown in the crying child minigames. One of them is guilty and even if they couldn't see William's face, they could have checked the entire CCTV Footage and checked of the other three had any alibi.

Personally I think that Henry (and probably most of the higher-level management) had to have turned a blind eye to the child murders and helped William cover it up. Whether it was from gross negligence, being obsessed with getting Charlie back, or just greed in wanting to keep the restaurant open, there's just no way that he didn't know.
I would say we need to consider, springlock suit was design in 80's so animatronics could not be as cheap as it it presented
i honestly thought purple guy bought the endos and springlocks for like $5 and cleaned them up a bit, and that's why they were so prone to failures
The springlock suits, as far as we know, are completely safe when used properly and in accordance with standard operating procedure. The only reason William died is because he was putting the suit on hastily and in a damp environment, violating the standard operating procedure. If you operate a table saw not according to procedure, you’re liable to be injured; but that doesn’t mean that the table saw is poorly designed.
As for Fredbear, the reason the pistons in the mouth are so powerful is because they need to be strong enough to actuate the presumably very heavy upper head of the animatronic. It wasn’t the strength of the pistons that caused the Bite of ‘83, it was the weight of that upper head part.
While that’s technically true, as an engineer you need to expect that people won’t follow all the rules all the time. The fact that this problem could have been solved simply by turning the srpinglocks around so that you’re not in the line of fire is what makes this so negligent and criminal. Just because nobody got hurt (until they did), doesn’t mean it’s safe
These are supposed to be used by human beings, last I checked, those sweat, getting the inside of any mascotte suits unpleasantly damp as time goes on. And in a restaurant, there is 100% chances that the suits would get splashed with a spilled drink, so moisture should have been part of the considerations when planning and testing the design.
Also, quick changes are a staple of the most performances, so being able to get in and out of the suits quickly and safely becomes a basic need for them to be fit for purpose.
About the weight of the head: it can't be that heavy, people should wear it over their own head

Very fun video, here are my thoughts as I watched:
13:40 The phone calls also mention a failure resulting in the suits getting discontinued, so at the very least an employee (or maaaybe a customer) was hurt.
13:50 Employees did wear them, as noted in the FNaF 3 phone calls and shown in the FNaF 4 minigames.
16:15 Minor nitpick, but Circus Baby's memory monologue makes it clear that she only attacks when there are no other children (and possibly no adults) present, so that drastically lowers the chance of witnesses. However, a child going missing at any point of the party and not reappearing afterward would still raise suspicion.
17:28 The company not only knows about it, they make it very clear that they hide the bodies and don't expect employees to survive, thanks to the FNaF 1 night 1 phone call. Quote: "Upon discovering that damage or death has occurred, a missing person report will be filed within 90 days, or as soon as property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced." They _do not care_ about employee life, and they probably have the doors because they want plausible deniability - "oh, the employee had these doors, they should have been able to protect themselves!".
The ending actually gave me a thought: what if William and Henry were arrested for gross negligence as early as possible? What would the series of events look like afterward?
Just make the default state the suit mode, that way failures just result in an animatronic collapsing on itself when walking around rather than killing someone

The fact that they can program the animatronics to not be able to enter or even see the safe room shows that for some reason they didn't program them to ignore the night guard's office.

My theory(Game Theory hehe) is that William’s stupidity got amplified by his psycophaty, he made the springlock suit out of his first and simplest idea, and his lack or worry for human life made him just skim over the safety process

6:38 this is why it’s my personal theory that Afton never used a spring lock suit for his murders as they seem too quirky for what he did. Remember how in fnaf 3, phone guy says that the Springs set off easily like with moisture and if you are going to off kids, their will be lots of blood and movement going on. Plus I imagine it must be hard to clean blood off of a spring lock suit versus just a regular mascot costume

While it is debated on what Glitchtrap is exactly, William did not create it. It's either William's own consciousness or a computer program influenced by his legacy. In either case, he was long "dead" by the time Glitchtrap was born.

you know, there's something that's often forgotten about the 1st game that i find frustrating that people ignore. here's a quote from a news article found in the game:

so, William WAS arrested. it's just nobody pays attention
before i get any comments saying "then how did he end up in the suit?", i'll cover that now. while its a common belief that he died in the 90s, i believe he would have actually died (at most) months before Fazbear's Fright had begun gathering props from old locations. it's likely he either escaped, or his sentence wasn't for murder but kidnapping, as no bodies were found. this provides explanation for the ruined state of the restaurant, including the boarded up bathrooms, messed up tables, rats, leaking ceiling, among other things. further evidence to support this claim comes from his own corpse. it's still rotting. a body doesn't take 30 years to rot. even in a coffin, it wouldn't reach 10 years before the corpse becomes a skeleton. Michael has an excuse, as he's not possessing a robot but his own corpse, and he only started possessing it after Ennard left and his body, which had already rotted significantly by that point. William however is possessing the SUIT, as he wouldn't be able to move otherwise.

William certainly seems to be a person who prioritized his passion projects over his business. It is just at first that was over engineered child's entertainment and then it expanded into that and um serial murder.

Yeah, but the spring lock suit that killed him was decaying, had holes and vegetation growing on the suit, on top of the bad conditioning of the building, and it is in a state of disrepair on the suit. William also may have not even designed the suit, as Williams stitched together suit in fnaf 3 was most likely the original suit designed by him judging by the stitch marks, compared to Henry’s bulky design. He most likely used high quality springlocks, maybe too powerful to kill people.
But throw all that out the window as the suits may have never been actually used, as only 2 existed.
THE DOORS were designed to keep the person watching the security cameras just in case a break in would happen, so they could call 911.
(They didn’t have portable phones back then) then the anatronics would attack people after hours because they’re on low power mode, as the doors would only be close of 6 out of the 16 hours saving a lot of money.
While it might be considered unsafe to keep killer robots that walk around.
Maybe it is because their servos lock up if left off for too long, considering if the place closes around 6, that’s 5 still five hours before 12. William always had doors in HIs astablishments. Fnaf 1, SL, and in the location before fnaf 2, he states in fnaf 2. “As you can see, there’s no doors for you to close…” all the locations he owned, all had doors to protect the night guard.

although the springlock suits were more expensive, they were more profitable in the long run because they gave the company an edge over its competitors. because of this, i wouldn't consider the creation of springlock suits to be a bad decision (in terms of cost - it's a different story when you take the dangers into account).

When people call Willy an evil genius and/or stupid, I think it depends on what one specifically means. Willy has invented some revolutionary bits of technology and is a rather skilled manipulator of people, but he's also an utter egotistic with very limited self-control. He is not a cost-smart lad, and he's impulsive. One might be able to argue he is on some level, good at actually BUILDING things, as some of this is complicated, sophisticated stuff. But he seems to care way more about appearing smart and experimenting and making it because he can, rather than being sensible in the slightest.
