Random fact: hardness vs softness is one of big reasons recommended not to use a stainless steel blade on something like a knife. It's much harder so it can maintain an edge but it's much much more difficult to sharpen and is more brittle
The price of diamonds is actually fake af - years ago a single corp decided they're gonna pretend it's much more valuable than it really is and popularised it in jewelry, making people think it's the most beautiful stone, when for example, a much cheaper moissanite reflects light way more beautifully (they sparkle with more intense rainbow colors). IMO as a professional jewelry designer diamonds are overrated af, but the hardness is real and there is value in that , so that's the symbolism that made it the most popular choice for engagement rings. However, I think that nowadays people who get their significant other a huge diamond ring are more likely to show off, knowing they're gonna prolly divorce later (we sell breakup rings in our shop lmao) so the beautiful symbolism of diamonds being forever is lost. Sorry for rambling, I have adhd and diamonds are literally my job kjhgfdfghjkjhf
@@grantbaugh2773 I think it's advertised mainly towards women, for them to get a ring for themselves to feel better and the stones we put in those are for example rose quartz, which is supposed to help with finding new love (if you believe in crystals ofc)
@@anyway.ilovemana that's pretty cool! Makes sense that people want to celebrate getting out of a bad relationship. And much less awkward than my initial thought of like a reverse engagement 😂
The mass aspect is part of the reason diamond tipped tools irl are so useful. The overall size of the diamond tip makes it harder to break, while the mass of the steel behind it adds significant force (and it overall is much cheaper.) They basically combine the best aspects of both materials. Edit: and like you said in the video it generally works better for grinding against something
I'd say that if Minecraft's diamond tools were made the way Netherite tools are right now (say, using iron tools as a base and then upgrading them with diamonds) it would instantly make a lot more sense.
Hey, Chiptide, I noticed a discrepancy in your "Best Type Combination" spreadsheet. NormalPoison and PoisonNormal have an "Offensive Score" of 115 and 155, respectively. I believe the correct value is 155. Furthermore, "Offiensive Score" ought to be "Offensive Score." The Best Type Combo video was fascinating to watch, and I'm using the data you collected and your methodology in my personal projects! Thank you so much for putting together that spreadsheet!
A question that popped into my mind when i found an old Beyblade + game; How would you need to modify a Beyblade, for it to be able to complete just a few feats from game/anime? Take Ray and Drigger in the Asia tournament arc; Is there a way to make a Beyblade strong enough to wreck the "Great Wall of China" stage?
I am thinking if one had basically unlimited funds, and a whole R&D department; Could you come up with a method for just the Bladebreakers' feats to be possible (Same result, just without a magical Bit Beast)
statistically speaking, it does actually work to ask people to subscribe. a UA-cam did a survey between 2 vids and the one which asked to subscribe got more subscribers than the other. Keep in mind that the guy was doing shorts
On hardness VS durability, imagine hitting toast with a hammer. You hit bread? It gets a dent. You hit burnt toast? It kinda explodes. You hit a delicious golden piece of toast? Somewhere in the middle.
i figured out the mass before he calculated it by deviding the wegight of a diamond block witch is 1m by 1m by 9 and multiplyed it by 3 for the 3 diamonds in a pickaxe.
Steve doesn't need a diamond pickaxe to mine obsidian or netherite, he can do it with his bare hands He needs it to mine them without completely disintegrating them
Would the shaft length matter all that much? Like a small handle isn’t gonna be that good but I wonder if a longer than average would give any extra lever strength
Plus Steve is wearing netherite armor which can be enchanted and if you assume magic has weight and people also say that he doesn't Bend his knees I don't agree with but and he's easily able to jump half his height upwards with slowness and weakness and if he Sprint and can jump two and a half times further from him for a total of five blocks and can swim with all of that on in an ocean that would be incredibly pushing down on top of him easily able to swim up to the top in a minute
At the end of the day, Diamond as a tool is just kinda like really expensive glass… Maybe Minecraft logic isn't always correct, and we shouldn't upgrade our toothpicks into diamond.
They'd also be useless since there diamond tools coverd with netherite the inside would still shatter since it's diamond the outside would be fine but would loose most of its mass since the inside would be hollow, netherite armor would be even worse since the sharp diamonds would cut into your skin
"And im sure most of you are like 'Yeah.. that doesn't help at all'" got me dying of laughter edit: do you go off a script, or are you just funny naturally?

Wait, there are "breakup rings"?!? Do they buy one for each other?

Short answer: Fucking no.
Long answer: Depends on what you mean by "Diamond pickaxe"

I’m pretty sure his the engineer so he is the professional here
Very true, I did forget to mention that part!
I recall someone a long time ago saying diamond was basically a glass cannon material and it's stuck with me ever since
"Ever wondered why it's so hard?"
Because it has a good imagination?

you deserve many more subs and attention than your getting, you remind me of old school game theory but significantly less cringey lmao.

The Iron/Steel with Diamond Tips just reminds me of "Tinker's Construct" and "Silent Gear" mods for the tools in modded Minecraft
Yes now he has to do videos on popular mods
Oh, I know you upload every Saturday, I am just being flabbergasted because it is a nice word.

Never forget the fact that it was found that the price of diamonds was being inflated quite a bit artificially by the withholding of supply

16:12 Yeah, but a diamond drill would work amazingly.
The real question is: how would you MAKE a diamond pickaxe? Just glue a bunch of small diamonds together?
Short answer, it'd break on impact
id like to see you do some videos on stuff from portal 2.
Fun fact diamonds is really a coal variant
You should do a video on netherite
that outro is genius 😂
Silly steve, you don't need that much diamond for your pickaxe! Just get one and use it for the points!

Simply get a negative area, thus increasing pressure applied. Can't be that hard, right?

Theory, Netherite tools are really just Iron + Diamond
Tiss a shame that steel is locked behind mods and mod packs
So what about netherite

diamonds are actually so cool what the hell

What about netherite?
