Remaking all three of the Mother games in that style would be amazing. However, there would be one major problem that an Earthbound remake would face. How do you make it possible to re-enact the Threed Tent Glitch? Seriously, amazing things can happen with the Threed Tent Glitch, and leaving that feature out would be a MAJOR missed opportunity. Hell, you could probably slip in certain secrets that you can only find through fiddling with that glitchy little corner.
As much as I would love to see that, I know it won't happen. Nintendo doesn't really know what to do with the Mother series. And without Itoi, nobody really wants to take the helm.

This game has so many memories of my early childhood attached to it. While A Link to the Past was the first LoZ game I played and finished, I fondly remember venturing to Koholint with my dad. I remember sitting on his lap, on the floor under the floor lamp, trying to see what was going on on the screen of the Gameboy (which had that huge freakin' magnifier peripheral attached to it.) I can only imagine how annoyed my dad was, trying to fight bosses with my big old head in the way! Absolutely one of my favorite Zeldas.
I think the dungeon maker was a good foundation for a future standalone Zelda Maker. We could also get a DLC update at some point with some more advanced features like actually building our own rooms and puzzles. I really think the launch version was just to test the waters.
I really REALLY want a remake of the oracle games (as two-in-one game). Oraacle Zelda is my fav. I had such a blast. And it aged like a fine wine. It was extremely well done. Oh, and Link's Awakening happens after Oracle, btw.
That's because its still the legend of zelda. Zelda was being a lazy kunt and sent link out for some tacos instead of going herself. Stuff happened and he ended up in a dream island.

Definitely still top three Zeldas for me.
I too wish the dungeon maker was more of on the level of "Super Mario Maker" (The Maker of Zelda?). However, the complexity of it feels like it's better warranted as its own game. If I didn't know better, I'd say they is a precursor to that (mind you, not saying we'll get such a game for sure as I have no knowledge of such, but at least it'd be a first step), much like how the Switch is probably what the Wii U should've been, but they did need to make the Wii U first to learn and build upon that design.
Yeah, anyone who went into the dungeon builder expecting Zelda Maker was destined for disappointment. I never expected it to be anything more than what it was revealed to be: a clever mode that lets you solve challenges with dungeon chunks. As a result, I'm liking it a lot, and seeing how big those challenge maps will get gives me more than enough to look forward to.
Though I have never played The Legend Of Zelda: Links Awakening I can always tell that it's a good game just by watching others play it. The toy aesthetic is a real trip, and I hope to play this game sometime soon! 😄😁👍

I think the problem with a Link Maker is that everyone will figure out the puzzles too easily given that you can only make so many a puzzle. I guess I'm trying to say puzzles aren't easily made infinitely.
It's been so long since I've played a Zelda game, but the original Link's Awakening is easily still my favorite, primarily for two reasons: the music is incredible, and the characters are all so expressive and full of life! It's super nice to see. Seeing this video has convinced me to finally get the remake, which I've been putting off just because I've already got a massive backlog of games I have yet to beat, but I figure that I'll get to them all eventually. Being able to lay down stamps on your map is a godsend in some of the tricker dungeons, where you never know where flights of stairs will take you. It's also useful for making off rooms that you need the dungeon item for later.
"...some of those photos have been turned into little cutscenes." You mean *one* of them has? Also, those cutscenes were already in the old game. So really, they just removed the photo cutscenes except for one, alongside their respective photos. They didn't add anything new in that regard.
Wait hold up there was a DS remake? I only remember the original on Game Boy the Deluxe version on GBC and now this new one on Switch. I'm referring to what is written in the description by the way.
I don't think it was a *remake,* but I definitely remember a re-release on the DSi/3DS's E-Shop. I definitely remember playing Link's Awakening on the DS, having never gotten to play it in its older versions.
"The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening has already had one remake for the DS" -> Uh? Ehm... nope. GBC had a color version with extras, but even that one wasn't a remake.
What the hell is Jirard talking about when he says turning off the Switch and booting it fresh improves the framerate? I can’t find anything else online about that.
This was the first Zelda game I ever played but I never really got much out of it because I had no idea what I was doing. Now getting to experience it is so much nostalgia and makes me feel better
Loved this game so much, especially having never had the original when I was a kid, so it was all fresh for me. Another awesome vid, shout outs to MC Lars for smashin it too!
Link's Awakening (switch): Great game Positives: fair combat (unlike LttP), map marking with pins, the level 2 sword, I love how the game subverts expectations in terms of bosses (a jar, underwater 2D angler fish, a stone gleeok from Zelda 1, and the floor itself!) it’s like the dai gyakutan saiban of the gameboy And I think that’s why people like link’s awakening because it’s very creative and has a lot of charm almost like a top down majora’s mask but moderately dark and some attention to the side characters (mostly Marin) I love the room with the boo’s because the sound they make after lighting the torch is straight from Luigi’s mansion dark moon. Frustration: the claw machine physics sometimes, aiming the hook shot diagonally (might be something wrong with my controller), sometimes I ran into a boss where I had no idea what to do. (A grey slime monster, a skeleton with a flute, and a hopping knight) Other times I beat them in a less effective way. (the Two cyclops spiders). I didn’t like the sprint charging up (what if every time you held the run button in a Mario game, Mario had to warm up for 1 second before breaking into a sprint?), Feeling from cozy to lonely on an island: Strangely at the beginning of the game is feels so lively, by near the end of the game I can’t find Marin or her father, the main village feels less populated with only the phone guy, shopkeeper, claw operator, fisherman, dog owner, mother, father and their 6 kids. When you realize how small the population is and the only seeing the few NPCs outside for the rest of the game. that’s when the loneliness sets in for link as his goal becomes the central focus and only thing left to do. Standard Difficulty: 3-6 (Somewhere between Easy-Causal) Game overs: zero (YAY!!!!)
The sprint charge up time is from the original. I can understand the frustration, but it was true to it's original. I think the tricky bosses are fairly excusable just because the game is rather short, I remember as a kid trying to figure out how to get the boss key in dungeon 2 and I had to wait until walkthroughs were a standard thing before I figured it out. Overall, I love this Zelda game to death. I have some minor gripes about the remake, but gosh dang was it fun. Hero mode was the only mode I played and I game overed a few times, but it rarely upset me. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
sgtcoffman I had a similar annoyance with a link between worlds cuz the 3D Pegasus boots feel slower than the classic sprite Pegasus boots. Or another way of saying it is the 3D warm up animation is like 70 milliseconds longer and doesn’t feel right unlike link to the past or minish cap where it doesn’t bother me at all. But at least the boots in awakening on switch didn’t have that annoying skid when you needed to stop without sliding off a cliff, auto jumping or getting dazed when hitting a wall. If it’s going to be a sprint button, why not just burst into a full charge like samus instead of blowing a trumpet “roo doo do do do dooooo” aaaaand charge?
See I definitely understand the love of this game but I just REALLY don’t think the 60 dollar price tag is okay. There’s just not enough of this game to deserve that kind of pricing.
TheMangoMan I mean, it's worth it for the hardcore tLoZ fans, which is the audience the remake is for, mostly. However, I agree with you in that if you are more of a casual player, you should not spend $60 on it.

"...some of those photos have been turned into little cutscenes."
You mean *one* of them has? Also, those cutscenes were already in the old game.
So really, they just removed the photo cutscenes except for one, alongside their respective photos. They didn't add anything new in that regard.
Jesus I love Lars but now I cant wait for Jirard's rap album he CRUSHED it. That flow!
Thanks dude!!
You should do a Completionist episode of Final Fantasy XII: TZA on the Switch.
MC LARS IS AMAZING! I see him everytime he comes to town.
@@Vgy1592 yeah I got it on the 3ds virtual console too.
I love these unique stylized games. It feels like a toy box. That rap in between was amazing.
"Gotta get back home, a dream within a dream that I'm hoping is my own." Perfectly encapsulates the motif of the game.
Hope Nintendo will offer a remake for its prequel - "A Link to the Past".
Love your videos Jirard (hope I spelled that right)
you sure did!
The Completionist Also, can you please do a video on the Witcher 3? I think it’s a pretty good game and would like o see it
Nice little collab song at the end. Really liked the originality!
"The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening has already had one remake for the DS" -> Uh? Ehm... nope. GBC had a color version with extras, but even that one wasn't a remake.
MC Lars?! That's a name I haven't heard in forever!
Oof. That rap really killed this video for me.
Hector Acevedo
Good or bad killed?
Lol seriously
Thank you for bringing MC Lars back into my life!
The only Zelda game I've played is Breath of The Wild. Now that the Switch remake is out, I have no excuse.
Links awaking is one of my favorite zelda games and im SOOOO happy they remastered it
What the hell is Jirard talking about when he says turning off the Switch and booting it fresh improves the framerate? I can’t find anything else online about that.
Yeah it's complete bullshit. I have a hacked switch and when it's overclocked it cures the problem - thus proving he pulled that out of his ass.
This was the first Zelda game I ever played but I never really got much out of it because I had no idea what I was doing. Now getting to experience it is so much nostalgia and makes me feel better
Out of curiosity, when will we see Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time?
I think the dungeon builder deserves its own game that includes parts from the entire series
wonder how close we are to sonic 06 but i guess he is hoping for a remastered that fixes the bugs xD
Sonic 06 is a tech demo not a game. Jirard only Recompletes games :)
Sadly, he has to re-complete it. He completed it once, had an episode on it, only thing he can do is hold up the episode for a bit longer.
@@cloroxhammer3289 I know 😹
Loved this game so much, especially having never had the original when I was a kid, so it was all fresh for me. Another awesome vid, shout outs to MC Lars for smashin it too!
Love the review Jirard, but that rap was cringey as all hell...
it wasent that bad
exept the cores
The blade in the sky, and looking into the Sun and nature... just magical
Link's Awakening (switch):
Great game
Positives: fair combat (unlike LttP), map marking with pins, the level 2 sword, I love how the game subverts expectations in terms of bosses (a jar, underwater 2D angler fish, a stone gleeok from Zelda 1, and the floor itself!) it’s like the dai gyakutan saiban of the gameboy
And I think that’s why people like link’s awakening because it’s very creative and has a lot of charm almost like a top down majora’s mask but moderately dark and some attention to the side characters (mostly Marin)
I love the room with the boo’s because the sound they make after lighting the torch is straight from Luigi’s mansion dark moon.
Frustration: the claw machine physics sometimes, aiming the hook shot diagonally (might be something wrong with my controller), sometimes I ran into a boss where I had no idea what to do. (A grey slime monster, a skeleton with a flute, and a hopping knight)
Other times I beat them in a less effective way. (the Two cyclops spiders).
I didn’t like the sprint charging up (what if every time you held the run button in a Mario game, Mario had to warm up for 1 second before breaking into a sprint?),
Feeling from cozy to lonely on an island: Strangely at the beginning of the game is feels so lively, by near the end of the game I can’t find Marin or her father, the main village feels less populated with only the phone guy, shopkeeper, claw operator, fisherman, dog owner, mother, father and their 6 kids.
When you realize how small the population is and the only seeing the few NPCs outside for the rest of the game. that’s when the loneliness sets in for link as his goal becomes the central focus and only thing left to do.
Standard Difficulty: 3-6 (Somewhere between Easy-Causal)
Game overs: zero (YAY!!!!)
@@PhantomShadow224 I don't know. I guess you'd have to ask the developers back in 1993 haha.
Link's Awakening was my first Zelda game, so this is a major nostalgia trip for me. A solid review for a solid remake.
