    So glad Dermatologists are supporting what acne sufferers have always found. When I suffered acne 30 years ago the experts ridiculed patients claims of a dietary link found in personal experience. I avoided processed foods or suffered painful cyst consequences.

    (The is obviously anecdotal experiences) but I found that cutting out dairy had really helped my acne. However, when I studied abroad in Italy, I didn't break out 95% as bad as I did with US dairy.
    It could be because of the hormones given to cows, or the processing of the dairy in the USA, or the antibiotics given to these cows - I have no idea.
    But being dairy free is a pain in the butt

    • @mslaurondo
      @mslaurondo 5 років тому +14

      I didn't notice dairy may be causing my acne until I started eating it more often and noticed I was breaking out. There might not be anything to it but once I stopped eating it as much, my acne lessened.

    • @stephaniepainchault2815
      @stephaniepainchault2815 5 років тому +22

      I think it might be more correlated to the sugar. US milk has a lot of sugar added and skim milk has more sugar than whole milk in many cases. But it could be the hormones, I guess a study should be done with hormone vs hormone-free milk.

    Another bit of anecdotal evidence for the first bit of the video-
    I will say that, when I was 20, I spent an entire year eating extremely cleanly and working out nonstop, and I experienced the best skin I'd ever had in my life. No dryness, no acne, even diminished redness. I've wondered for a few years now what components contributed to such insanely clear, cooperative skin. This video gave me some insight into what those components potentially were; I think a large part of it was the fact that I had almost entirely cut out sugar. I will also note that, at the time, I was consuming large quantities of whey protein

    Wonderful video! I've been trying to cut out yogurt and cheese but I didn't realize the science was only on plain milk which I don't even drink (I too am a fan of unsweetened almond milk and sometimes cashew milk or a coconut blend) but I have felt better with out the cheese. Sugar is something I need to cut out but it's going to be hard with the holidays coming up. Thanks for all you do and for all the work you put into these videos and editing and replying to comments. Hi Dr.Dray,
    That was another great video! Thank you. This is only anecdotal evidence but my brother had a bad case of acne as a teenager, his face was fully covered. My parents wouldn't take him to a doctor for help. So he researched the Internet and found similar advice. He quit sugar and processed foods cold turkey and his acne quickly cleared up.
    I would be interested to see if you could make this style of video for eczema. There are so many diets out there now claiming to cure eczema, it would be great to hear what you have to say on the topic. X 😊🤗

    Hi dr.dray. Thank you so much for making these. I love your videos! I’ve suffered from severe acne my whole life when I’m not on accurate. I’ve been on accurate since I was a teen. I’ve been on it, I believe 4 times and still am at 29. Ive taken a hormone test and it showed that my hormones are normal so I am very confused. I’ve been curious about taking a vitamin deficiency test i live in Thailand and it is very expensive. Can you please make a video about vitamin deficiency test and how it relates to acne, specially severe cystic acne? Would you recommend someone with cystic acne to take a vitamin deficiency test? My dermatologist said that the hormone test can’t really be used to determine anything for acne. Thank you!

    I was drinking skimmed milk. I was getting large inflamed boils/spots all over the lower of my face. Thought it was hormonal acne. I heard about skimmed milk causing acne so cut it out and went back to normal milk. Within a few days it calmed down and I don’t get them anymore. Skimmed milk was def the culprit in my case

    Evening primrose oil (GLA) definitely helps for hormonal acne in women (typically around your chin/ mouth) area. I have been advised to take it by ob-gyn and it has made a huge difference in the severity of my acne. I can only recommend it if you have the same problem but don't wanna take birth control.

    Great information Dr Dray! I think I’ve found some Cerave dupes that I can use. I’m using the CVS Health Cerave PM dupe and the Equate Cerave Hydrating Cleanser. The ingredients in both are good but they’re slightly different from the Cerave brand and don’t sting at all!!!

    Hi Dr. Dray, not related to this video but I've been thinking I'd really appreciate it if you did a video on skincare (and haircare) for swimmers. I know you don't recommend wetting bodies much but for a lot of us swimming is the most accessible exercise. However, I worry about the long term impact on my skin. Thanks for everything you do!

    The only milk I drink/use is raw, whole milk... since switching to this I’ve actually noticed an improvement in my acne. Thankfully i have a trusted local organic farmer nearby so I’m able to fully trust the quality of the raw milk, raw kefir and raw cream.

    Hi Dr Dray. I recently had a bad breakout on both cheeks and jaw after abusing dairy(milk). The seem to be taking a long time to subside and increasing(like tiny pus bumps next to the pimples) as well. The funny thing is no pimples at all before that and now im switching up all my skincare products to ones recommended by you. Hopefully they subside soon😭

    Thank you for such valuable information. What can be done about epidermal inclusion cysts? My 18 year old son who also has acne has cysts at his hairline and on his chest. A derm has removed 4 from his chest (2 at a time) but others keep popping up. It’s hurting his self esteem and he’s heading to college in January. I’ve read that this is a keratin issue and most are benign but they sometimes get inflamed and some are about 1/4 inch diameter. Thanks for your help.
