Unbelievible! I have spent most of my life dealing with PCOS. Went off BC about 15 years ago because of side effects but still on spirilonolacone. 30 years ago my dermatologist diagnosed me! Not my GYN! Why did they never say anything despite ovaries full of cycts! Just kept pushing BC as a fix and it was not! I am definitely looking into this. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

excellent video, thank you for making it.
i’d encourage women who suspect they struggle with pcos but haven’t had luck addressing it with their gynecologist to seek out an endocrinologist who specializes in pcos.
in addition to what dr. dray mentioned i would emphasize weight loss and lifestyle changes. these have profound effects on the hormonal function even though they might not seem to be obviously related.
managing pcos in the long run is similar to a skin care routine in that it requires dedication and consistency.

I also developed type 2 diabetes after PCOS. I am so very insulin resistant. I believe it’s from exposure to lots of chemicals growing up. A doctor told me that. My mom used to put those RAID bombs at night for roaches. It’ll get in my throat and I would cough so bad and throw up. She used them about 2 to 3 times. As long as my sugars are very very tightly controlled my periods are normal. But if my sugars are slightly elevated I spot 3-4 days before my period comes. In order to be tightly controlled I either fast a lot throughout the day which means I’m starving, or B. I’m on a high dose of metformin and I could eat.

Other natural supplements for acne that work are high dose soy isoflavones (which are phytoestrogens) and resveratrol.

Hey, I am very confused about soy as many sources online say that it can actually worsen acne. Have you any experience using soy isoflavones or related supplements.

@DrDrayzday does myo-inositol interact with doxycycline? I’m on doxy for rosacea/SIBO, but I would really like to try inositol as well. I have unbalanced hormonal levels (higher androgens) and acne.

Birth control pills worked wonders on clearing up my acne. I am fortunate because I tolerate them very well and now they are helping mask perimenopause symptoms. I am fortunate in that I was able to control my PCOS through diet and exercise for a long time. My PCOS and acne started showing up again after 10 years of no medication when I hit early perimenopause. I fast 11 hours a night and eat a balanced diet (weight watchers winning points circa 2002) which does include carbs and exercise, all which helped me a lot. The wonky weight issues are not a joke. I was obese for most of my 20s; the combination of blood sugar swings and the body's propensity for weight gain made it extraordinarily difficult to lose weight. Took me 6 years of tracking everything to lose 50 lbs, then things got a lot better. PCOS is really hard for a young woman to deal with because it takes a toll on her experience as a woman. The body hair and acne and excess weight... it's hard for young women. I'm glad we are learning more about how to manage it better.

Thank you for another informative video! Could you maybe make a video about ingredients to avoid in champoos or conditioner's? Or do you have already done one? Would like to know more skin gentle shampoos because of acne and sensitive scalp. Anyway, have a nice week! Looking forward to your Vlogs! Kind regards

Why is no one talking about this? I have been recommended to take DIM, calcium glucarate, but no one has ever mentioned this supplement. Thank you Dr. Dray. I’m menopausal and still have the PCOS androgenic issues.

It’s commonly mentioned in holistic spaces. But doctors only get paid when they assign a medicine, not supplements so they’re less likely to promote them. And holistic medicine isn’t taken seriously.

I take the spanish supplement that also has the name PCOS~ I have been taking it for years and while it helps, I am not sure if it was that helpful! but since it has other components like B12, B6, folic acid, etc, it's good enough for me!

Thank you for this info! I have PCOS and Hashimoto's syndrome. I am nearing the end of being able to cover my pattern hair loss (even with hair powder) and may have to consider wearing a wig within the next year or so. I started using Rosemary oil (with pumpkin seed oil) on my scalp and went back to eating meat and taking supplements and vitamins like Multi, vitamin D, iron (I was anemic for a long time). I understand there are far worse side effects than hair loss (I've been relatively lucky and haven't had any acne) but being a woman it is emotionally frustrating to deal with. Spirnlactone was suggested to me but I am avoiding it due to the potential side effects. I have Myo-Inositol at home and just haven't dove in to using it yet. This might be enough consider starting.

Hello, this comment is exactly me. I do have regular periods n no acne and have been ok for years without BC. But my hair loss is unreal. Has myo inositol helped unsince this comment hair wise and anything else wise? I'm not sure of it's ok to take if U do have regular periods. My pco has been confirmed on ultrasounds. Thankyou I hope u see this
