    I feel like there is room/demand in the market for more Chinese companies to start pumping out high quality bar/stem units.
    We've got bike companies like Canyon who won't budge on the way they sell bikes with only one stem length - and often it's not even possible for a customer to buy a bar/stem unit from them for their bike.

  • @cornelhughes6763
    @cornelhughes6763 6 місяців тому

    Tell yourself they will make you faster (may just, since they are more aero) as motivation to do the upgrade. When setting up my bike i purchased some quick link adaptors which make it easier to make changes to the cockpit. Worse case you need only change the hose at the stem where the adaptors sit. They are Q-Connector SpeedLink Bicycle Brake Hydraulic Coupler from Zenocyle. Should also make things easier if you are traveling with the bike and need to disconnect the handlebar/stem

    Glad you got one its the best 1 piece but just so hard to get. I have one too and would rate it 7/10 there just are not any better options as big vendors slowly engage with the demand. The big vendors generally don't make narrow sizes yet while only supporting a very limited number of bikes with the needed spacers all while charging crazy money with bad stock availability.
    You likely will find it is noticeably less stiff than a two part while fit and internal finish is good but not the best. The two bottom rubber covers protrude too much and are annoying but the holes can be vinyl wrapped over easily.
    The future is super narrow and for that you still need 2 part. I asked EXS and they currently do not plan to make any super narrow bars until at least the next gen of road Shimano.

    I have it in venge and sl7. It is great. Very stiff and look awsome. you need to pay attention to the length of the stem becouse bar reach is 70 not 75 or 80 like in specialized stem

    • @PatrickLino
      @PatrickLino  6 місяців тому

      Yup I mentioned that in video. Also keep in mind the effective overall reach of the stem on integrated cockpits is always longer than the advertised length. It's just the way these brands take measurements. So a 140mm stem length cockpit is more like 150mm, which more than compensates for the 5mm reduced bar reach.

    Due to the high demand of these handlebars currently, there is no incentive for EXS to either keep these bars in stock or do pre-orders. And I suspect EXS will continue to (purposely) create artificial demand. Similar to the way Nike/Jordan Brand release their shoes in limited batches.

I'm not a huge fan of the bars but it gets me most that reach I want. I'd really like a 100mm reach bar for riding the tops chilling on long climbs. I'm really never feeling overreached on the long end, but having a wide window from the tops to the hoods would be ideal. Speeco has a custom bar I may buy at some point but I'd hate to buy without riding it first

      1 part is a nice finishing part but in my opinion should never be sold stock on any bike as fit is far more important. Honestly its mostly aesthetics, clean routing, and stiffness to weight as they are overall less stiff in my experience.

      And on the other hand why are riders so stubborn and refuse to upgrade to a one piece bar/stem?
      One less moving part, one less area of concern.
      But I get where you are coming from; since it doesn’t really matter given that it’s the mechanic who has to deal with it anyway. My mechanic does all bike related work on my bikes, so having a more troublesome separate stem/bar is irrelevant since it’s my mechanic who has to deal with it anyway, not me lol! 😂😂
      Just throw the bike to the mechanic for any maintenance work, and pick it up the following week once done. Doesn’t get any simpler than that. In the meantime, just ride your other bikes while you wait,
