    Great video. You go right to the point, avoiding all kind of useless crap. Thanks a-lot

      No worries! I hate videos that drag out too long, some people want the details and added information, so there are videos for that, but for a straight to the point video on what my issue was--I thought it was best to just focus on that. Saves time on editing and all that too. Thank you for watching and hope it helped you out!

      Hey @@58Alpha . My softner was unplugged for a couple of days as I waited for the new venturi gasket to arrive. When I plugged it back in, the screen is locked on the time of day. The "Mode" button won't let me scroll thru the menu. Do you think it's a mother board issue? I unplugged the connectors behind the screen, but no luck. Of course, GE is closed for the weekend.Time to buy a new one?

      @@williamdavidson4576 I'm wondering if it's a button issue that the board doesn't recognize the button presses. How does the motherboard look where the buttons go? Is it corroded?

    • @58Alpha
      @58Alpha  Рік тому

      @@williamdavidson4576 are there any connections from the buttons to the board too? Are they in good condition?

      @@58Alpha The board is dry & clean as a whistle. I'm out in AZ so no humidity/salt/corrosion issues. I did plug/unplug the connector that plugs into the board, but still no luck. The display beeps and shows the time, but the mode won't move along. There's 2 other connectors on the board. I'm going to pry them off and re-plug in. Will also see if I can play around with the board & see if I can access the mode button from the back. But crazy thing is, a new board is about $325.00. New softner's aren't cheap anymore either, $600+

    Just a tip. Don't use pliers to tighten up the plastic nut on the venturi tube. Hand tighten it only. It can easily snap in two and you'll be stuck waiting for a new one. Guess how I know...

    Thank you for the video. It helped a lot. Do you remember you had Error Code #3 with this problem? Mine is an exactly same model as yours and has the same problem now (water in it) with Error #3.

    how long did you wait after you did the manual recharge? I think you said a couple hours??

      Yeah, I let it run it's course. Went inside and had dinner you know? Water softeners take about a couple hours anyway to fully recharge.

    Do you need to bypass the water before doing this?

      I'm sorry. It sounds like then you have more things to check like that your float valve is working properly and no hoses are clogged for example.

    I keep the salt level to level 2. When I do a regeneration, water does not come up to the top of the salt, it only comes up to about 6-8 inches inside the brine well, then after it's done, it leaves about 2-3 inches of water inside the brine well. Is this normal or does water need to come up and cover the the salt when it does the fill part?

    • @58Alpha
      @58Alpha  3 місяці тому

      I think it's normal to have a little bit of water in the brine well, I have that too.

      @mr.boniato6402 3 місяці тому

      @@58Alpha Yeah I found that having a little water is normal, but my main question is regarding how much water is normal to come in while doing the “fill” during regen. Mine only comes up to maybe 6-8 inches of water not covering the salt level.

    Thank you. My tank is full of water. When I try to recharge something in the system is clicking like it’s jammed.

    • @58Alpha
      @58Alpha  9 місяців тому

      Then you might want to check if something is stuck. Maybe the float valve is causing a switch to click?

    • @PonderingOne

      You may need to replace your motor. Pull the whole cover off so you can observe the motor turn the gear through each position while you manually recharge. If it gets hung up, then you will need to investigate why. My motor failed recently and I replaced it.

    • @Jason_Wheeler
      @Jason_Wheeler 8 місяців тому +1

      @@PonderingOne thanks I fixed it already. I pulled off the motor and valve cover. Something was jammed inside the valve body if that’s the part name. It’s fixed now. Thank you for replying.

    I changed the gasket following the instructions on this video and recharged the system but still have water in the brine tank even more water in it.
    I also checked the floating valve to see if there is anything wrong but didn't see any error.
    What should I do next to fix this issue? Any suggestions would be very much appreciate it.

    • @58Alpha
      @58Alpha  11 місяців тому +1

      Hmm at that point it might be something wrong with the controller, like in the circuit board but I'm not sure. I assume you checked all possible areas for clogs, the shut off valve switch works, etc? It might be time unfortunately for a new one or check for a professional to take a look at it.

      Pull Venturi out as shown in this video and make sure the two rubber flow plugs (small black disks shown in red Venturi plate and bottom of Venturi housing in this video) and small screen are clear. Use a wooden toothpick to clear the flow plugs and warm water to clear the screen.

    Whirlpool WHES40 Water Softener: Yea so I'm going continue the saga right here for some to see. I purchased some silicone lubricant, (plumbers grease), pulled the bypass assembly out, cleaned the ends and inside, re-lubricated the o-rings as expected on this brand new Whirlpool Water Softener. Still leaked. Swapped the o-rings left to right and re-lubed again. Still leaked same side. Called customer service and a nice guy named Daniel said that he would send out a new bypass assembly with the necessary clips and o-rings included. He said that some of the specs were a little bit off sometimes on these bypass assemblies. So now we're down to making "lemonade", it seems, out of "lemons". Now IF the specs are right on the bypass replacement but somehow not on the receiving end......you know where this will go!

      @58Alpha  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching and providing that feedback. I don't have any leaks, only this issue at the moment.

      So are you able to fix it easily then if it's just a loose pipe? Not sure if the screen is damaged from the water or not, how does the PCBA look? Corroded?
