One thing that helps Me as a #Lockboss when figuring out WHERE to take a bit off the key to help it fit is Die Bluing. It is a liquid we used to use in my previous Skilled Trades Job to find where things are rubbing. Paint the Liquid on the Key Blank and insert it. When it starts to get tight the Bluing will start to rub off. That would be where you start to grind a bit. Obviously it's not required in your case but it sometimes helps.
Great work Detective #lockboss. It doesn’t surprise me that Masterlock would try to shave down a known key to deter the random copying the key to maintain their “ high security “.
Great #Lockboss information. I had a locking cash bag i gave my mom with no keys. It was unlocked but she asked if I could make a key. No luck on making one but made a temporary jiggler until I could. Idenikey would have been the answer I needed. With the help of CLK. Awesome stuff, guys. 👍
That’s a great #lockboss journey PJ, thanks for sharing it! I’ve had to thin down keys more often than I’d like to admit, especially with cheap knock off padlocks. Surprised you had to do it on this one (branded Master product), but it is what it is! 😂
Always good seeing the troubleshooting process, thanks for bringing us along! I wonder if that lock was supposed to use a standard 1131 key, but maybe was made by a place that didn't quite get the tolerances right, and wound up making it a slightly tighter keyway. #Lockboss
Looking at the thumbnail for the video, all I can this of is the Pokemon meme. “Name that key!” It’s an an American Lock! “It’s a Master Key!” “FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU……..!!!” #LockBoss
BM0048 comes up in Blackhawk. Cuts 3544 on Y6, YA8, 997DB, 10E3R. Please let me know if this is correct, I'm on vacation and it's raining and I have nothing else to do!!
I'm sure master was trying to copy the Arco keyway but just like the cheap offshore knockoffs of the KW1 keyway don't always accept quality KW 1 keys (thus requiring us to use EZ1) so Master is likely trying to use a cheap offshore copy of the Arco key. If the only problem with CO106 is the length, ILCO lists L1003M which is the longer version of CO106. If that works it could save a lot of time.
Thanx for the Video. I have two or three cash bags in the in my lock stash, can't remember if they have keys or not. This may have helped me out #LockBoss
It would be nice to find an actual key that works. I hate giving out keys that look ground down a little. It doesnt look professional, but i guess if it works. #Lockboss
Turning the lock with a key you code cut or duplicated, nothing is more satisfying feeling it turn..never ever gets old
Right!!! -PJ
Oh yeah, seriously. #LockBoss

Thinning keys down whenever needed is definitely normal. #Lockboss
Locksmith work looks like you have to be creative and use what you got to make it work. #lockboss
Appreciate your time regarding this, very informative. #Lockboss
Great option to know about #lockboss
I would have thought that look similar to a Sargent & Greenleaf. The key head looks like a MEDCO key for MEDCO lock. #lockboss
Thanx for the Video. I have two or three cash bags in the in my lock stash, can't remember if they have keys or not. This may have helped me out #LockBoss
I was going to say arco key as well because I order my bags from A. Rifkin and that would have been my guess. #Lockboss
I had to modify a master M26 key for a master Loto padlock #Lockboss
Great information. #Lockboss
I would absolutly do it for a customer to get the job done. #LOCKBOSS
Good information to know. #lockboss
My original thought was the Arco Rifkin keys. I wouldn't have expected the Co106. Have you considered the co105 and cut the shoulder back? #lockboss
I did not! But I should have -PJ
Good to know #LOCKBOSS
Arco bank
