Thank you for saying this Mike! We try really hard to cover all the details, it's time consuming, and we get a lot of grief from just about every source BUT amazing audience who gets to set the rules ;) Very glad you enjoy it, and get what you're needing. We'll keep doing it until they put us in the pokey, but then we'll make even longer videos - LOL LOL LOL
Just to say thank you both very much, I'm relatively new to the hobby, I got into RC planes after buying my grandson an Aeroscout!! Now several planes including Turbo Timber Evo and Conscendo and a few crashes later I am hooked. Your videos are class, keep up the great work. I am just about to attempt to sort out Conscendo flaperons as have just realised she flies great but needs a soccer pitch for me to land it! Stephen
NICE! So glad you're here with us, and want to encourage you to keep at it. Some of these projects can be way more daunting than we expect them to be, but we're so glad we can play a small part in helping you, and others get where you want to go!
Hi Bryan I discovered the reason why I couldn't set the flaps with the NX8: The receiver was not updated! by updating and repeating all your steps I succeeded!!!! What a show ! I love you ❤️ . Thank you so much for your videos, they are fundamental for all of us! Greetings from Rome dear Bryan!
This is just what I need to get off my duff, break the ESC programming, add another connection to make the dual aileron configuration. Way to go, Brian!!!!
@@jamesturncliff5960 Thanks, yeah, I bot the cable, registered the receiver, updated it, but have yet to proceed, etc. I'll store the original settings into history/backup, and then clear them to be able to go to flaperons. Simple if you know what you are doing...........
Great video Brian and Camera crew. Got the UMX Conscendo last month. Activated the Flaperon option. Absolutely Love it. In good conditions it does thermal very well. Setting up the Flaperons on the UMX version is so straight forward and simple. Why the Hell EFlite doesn’t do the same with this larger size Makes No Since. I don’t have the time or patience to do what you had to go through to get the Flaperons activated. If they can make it so EZ on the UMX. Why don’t they do the same on the larger one.
I agree 100% - why don't they just make it easy...making it POSSIBLE is not EASY, and it shouldn't be something we have to beg for...we paid for all the stuff, why don't they just configure it correctly out of the box?!?!? It's been discussed ad nauseam, fwiw, and they just don't see things our way.
Thanks for the video. I'm currently setting up my flaperon setup. I have one question about your flaperon setup. I saw you didn't increase the servo travel for the aileron servos past the default 100. Corect me if I am wrong but wont you now max out your aileron travel when at landing flaps. As in if you bank there will be no more down travel in the aileron moving down. While your aileron moving up will move. I saw another flaperon setup where they suggested setting servo travel to 150 for the ailerons. Thoughts?
If you do max out the travel, it'll be into foam, so shouldn't be the end of the world, just back them off in flap menu. This is something you can "guess and check" when you setup your model. This is usually a bigger issue in Balsa Wood or composite models. With Foam, there's some forgiveness. I would encourage you to try it on yours and see where they hit, then max it out till they DO hit, then back it off just a bit. You can also use the ABSOLUTE TRAVEL (scroll over to the right in the SERVO SETUP menus) Limits too, if you're really worried, but I would not worry that much.
I have been using 1/8" automotive pinstriping tape to mark the cg limits. It gives a tactile feel without looking. You can use the empty channel 5 for the Sky ID module.
The plane had a small round skinny fuselage. Most of the weight of the plane is the wings, on top of the fuselage, above where the stand holds the plane. It is like a pyramid, upside down, balancing on a point.
Our son actually designed and prints the UMX Conscendo stands. If you're interested in one, hit us up via email, which you can find in the About Tab or at BrianPhillipsRC.com.
I'm thinking that flapperons would be advantageous for take offs and slowing the plane down for thermaling and extra lift. But spoilerons would be cool for short steep landings.
Hi Bryan, I'm trying to do this with my NX8 but when I get to the time to reverse the channels I can't find the right one. Can this only be done with the Nx10?😭😭
I don't know why you wouldn't be able to do this with the NX8...did you follow along all the way? Setup should be identical... no retracts, and no thrust reverse...so Yeah, shouldn't have any issues on the NX8
Dang, I got all curious and tried to find the pronunciation of conscendo in Latin. It sounds like it has a "k" in it, and I don't know if I'll be able to say it the way I used to or the new way I found. Great video by the way! 😂
Glad you noticed ;) This has been somewhat of a "labor of love" for my oldest son, who has engineered it, 3d printed and made tons of renditions for us to hopefully offer it as part of a line of plane display kits. If you're interested in being one of our first guinea pig customers, hit us up with an email, OR just keep an eye out on our website - www.BrianPhillipsRC.com - which will have a page for this sort of thing at some point.
Can a servo ext cable work instead of leaving the Y connector with a null end? Still can't get it to work for me but I'm just a dumb sales guy. I love flying, but configuring a plane shouldn't be this stupidly involved in 2024. It's ridiculous......... In this day and age, the lack of even a hint of modern-ish standards of user interface/usability should be embarrassing to Spektrum. Now, I'm kinda stuck with Spektrum......... until I figure out if I'm going to stick with this flying hobby or not
First and foremost thank you so much for this video. You might want to shorten your plane stand so it touches the wings of the crescendo evolution. It is a very slippery round airplane
You are the only one, who show everything we need about planes setups ! and believe me, we all appreciate that ! thank you to both of you ! 💙✈👍

When you do this. Make sure you update the update cable first before anything else it will make it much easier. That's why Brian was having a problem

Thanks Brian and Mrs. Phillips.
You're welcome!
I used a 3 position switch to program ailerons for normal flight, flapperons for take off and spoilerons for landing. Keep up the great work!!

Thank you Brian. You have no idea how much this video helped me.

Hey Brian and camera crew, great video. Just curious do you have a link for the stand the umx is sitting on?
Thanks!

Do you always charge at 1c Brian? I have been charging my G2 Smart batteries with my S2200 at 2c with no issues and love the shorter charge time.
I use a DX6 on my Conscendo. If I want to have flaperons I have to go through all this???

What display stand is that for the mini Conscendo?
