The armor is actually less spiky, while retaining the classic dragoon look. We've gone from being enemies of dragons to potentially being friends. No stab frens! XD

Here's a thought: Make Dragoon glow blue under Power Surge! That way, they don't have to always be blue, but we get a visual indicator for if the buff is active, so we WANT to always be glowing blue (unless we're glowing red).
Even better, make drg glow blue when they have 1 or 2 eyes but have not yet entered life of the Dragon
what's the important being blue-glowing?? we already can be a red-glowing with Nastrond
@@arolimarcellinus8541 because life of the Dragon is level 70. What about level 69 and below? Also Wyrmwind Wave shows a blue and red dragon as if we are combining the two but the blue is barely represented anymore outside mirage dive.
Honestly im just glad i no longer have to rely on disembowel before you burst into AoE mode. power surge was a good choice there. as far as indicators of when power surge is active, thats a good question. Personally i think power surge’s activation should be tied to high jump.
I hope this idea gets to the devs. I will really miss the sound effect when we activate Blood of the Dragon, it is an undeniable identity of FFXIV Dragoon, they even made it as an intro for Dragoon during ShB Job Actions trailer.

Think about it like when Goku controlled totally Super Saiyan in the Cell saga and didn't show aura anymore unless when he uses a lot of power xd
10% damage buff on aoe for losing blue animation. Sacrifices have been made

We already sacrificed Ring of Thorns though. :(

At least no more crying over losing 2 Eyes in a long cutscene... so there's that. But i WILL miss that lovely aura for sure.

But think about it metaphorically. Ed _literally_ gave an arm and a leg, and Al literally sacrificed himself to bring back their mom... and they failed. It's tragic. It means that even though you may give up everything, no alchemy nor magic can bring back the dead (or their souls at least, since Al got his body back in the end due to Ed sacrificing his alchemy).
FMA was the very first Manga I ever read. Saw it at one of the closing down Borders back in the day, and thought "this looks cool." I'm so happy it brought me into the world of eastern storytelling. It'll always be a fond series to me.
But what if we just permanently were blue? But yeah, these changes are great. Dragoon was already a great job, and this just helps work out the last few problems it had. Nothing's really changed except for 1 more ogcd just for fun, and finally being able to use spineshatter as the gap closer it's supposed to be.
honestly the biggest win is that you don't have to delay life of the dragon anymore.
@@oshaapproved7612 omg yes having to delay to line up damage buff was so annoying when i used my mirage dive to early
Sadly spineshatter still shatters spines so still have to use them for dmg :(

As a long time DRG this stuff is great. Power up on skills for doing rotation right, no more loss of Blood of the Dragon due to phase change cinematics, AoE smoothed out. It's really is a good day for your class when your biggest worry is what color particles your animations are.

seriously man everytime i'd lose a 2 stack blood of the dragon ready to go running to he next pack, look away for a split second and OHHHH OF COURSE IT DROPPED AND I HAVE TO WAIT 2 HIGH JUMP CYCLES AGAIN REEEE i'd die inside. so happy they're making that change but shoulda been done years ago lol

My first and still fave gets some well needed AoE shenanigans and just plays smoother?
I hope Estinien sempai is proud of me as I jump around everywhere and backflip off arenas once more.
ngl, I accidentally backflipped off arenas so often that I banished that damn skill from my bar except for very rare cases where I know I'll need it lol
That job gear is delicious... waaaaay more than the ShB gear ever was.
I for one really liked the shb one over hw's and especially over sb's, but this one... this one changes things *drool emote*
From up close it looks like Batman...or is it because of Miqo ears?
Yeah, the designers showed actual restraint with the spikes and aimed for a more sleeker look
Am I the only one seeing Femto in the mask? The hooked appearance, the eye holes.
HW Job Gear still the best
FINALLY we don't have to worry about losing those eyes! I can't tell you how many times I've lost my gaze of the dragon to a cutscene or poor timing between mobs
As a DRG main since I started playing, I love this. This is the coolest AF gear that DRG has gotten and the changes to the damage buffs means that DRG can actually AoE now.
It already had S rank AOE, I've got screenshots of me clearing 60k DPS in 24 man swarms.
@@hatewheel yea drg aoe was already pretty nutty thx to no aoe potency reduction on majority of its skills, this juat makes it so much better, no more disembowel before aoe :)

Something I am noticing between this and Dancer, they seem to be making it easier to switch between ST and AoEs, which honestly, I really like.

It's so good to finally have Ala Morn. sure it's called chaotic spring but it's basically Ala Morn.
They didn't want to make it too obvious they just Qd Final Steps Of Faith and just wrote down every ability Niddy uses BAWgdbJAWd
If by Ala Morn you mean flower fountain, then yes.
Well we havent got drachen lance yet. Im suprised really. Even though, wheeling thrust’s animation is technically the move just no red X projectile during the spinn. ill take ala morn tho

I am so grateful for your bite sized review of changes, straight and to the point and properly contextualized for each classes I believe. I respect those making hours long breakdown but at the end of the day I just want to know how it will feel and you provide an amazing overview of that!
My dragoon is shooting right back up to the top of my list making it a very hard choice on what to MSQ with (vs Dancer and Summoner, cause Sage starts at 70 so .... yeah XD)
I love the repeat edit at the end!
I always thought life of the dragon felt pointless as a standalone ability lol. I don't like the raiden thrust change, but everything else Seems good to me!

Agreed, it'd be cool and so useful. With the long combos it's easy to smooth brain and forget to maintain the buff. At least for me.
Storm blue is my favorite
Yeah it was always just a button to press after a cutscene to get back the thing you'll always have for the rest of the fight anyway. It had no reason to be on a timer.
@@ngwoo back in HW it's the main mechanic that DRG gotta maintain, just like MNK's GLs because it increases Jump and SSD potency as well as enabling Geirskogul after 3 eyes are opened. That was a challenging but fun mechanics of the Job. Over the course of time eventually BotD became a button to press after a cutscene like you said.
That job gear looks amazing, with the additional fact that it has glowy eyes. Warrior of Light is now Batman

Holy hell, I didn't expect to go into Endwalker as a Dragoon, but now I'm sold. The changes are amazing and that job gear is deliciously pointy. The way the combos flow now is soooo good :O

Watching this again now that I’m almost level 80 and almost have all the current skills. God damn this is so much more sleek, I love it. Blue bar only got annoying when it dropped in a cutscene or between battles on accident, but that’s enough for me to be glad I don’t need to worry about it

you could say that Endwalker dragoon was *on point* on what dragoon needed
As a DRG main that unfortunately can no longer play after Stormblood and missed out on the epicness that is Shadowbringers (still watched some main cutscenes / plot points on UA-cam just to keep up), I'm just very happy that DRG is still a top tier DPS class and how the job rotation is very streamlined now. Stardiver and Wyrmwind Thrust are just so satisfying to look at as the main "finisher" moves. Also the Endwalker Artifact Set looks great! Long for the day when I can return back to Eorzea!
Might just be watching these for the outro music at this point

Damn, first time i see the new Job gear in-game in such detail and i absolutely love it. As great as most the others were this is definitely my new favorite. :O
What about that cd that chains you to other person for extra dmg gain? Was it removed or changed? It is on the keybinds in the vid.

These changes are so awesome! I can already feel the fun I'll have with the new smooth rotation, damage buff within the AOE combo and no more worrying about the timer running out while having the eye opened!

I've literally just finished the free trial for HW as a Dragoon, fell in love with the class and bought the game with the desire to unlock Stardiver, and NOW these changes come out in Endwalker?! *sigh* Welp, time for my wallet to floor tank once more.
It's worth buying the game just to press stardiver. Dragoon abilities are so fun to press its the only class where i get excites every time abilities come off cd

The only thing now about Dragoon I'm not big on is the running animation. NOT the sprinting one, that's awesome. Just the default run animation seems lackluster

that and i wish female characters could have the iconic dragoon pose like male characters can. or at least something cool. the female pose really sucks imo
@@mrrrrrrrorwwwwwer why not both? Give both genders the option to use either stance by making the Combat Stance a 3-option thing rather than 2! I play a male, but I find the combat-stance for female characters shows off weapons better :D
They already made Estinien kinda do the female pose back when he disabled the Garlean canon in Gyr Abania
@@killer114188t that’d be nice too! i’m just forever salty that i cant have my character do the iconic pose lol, but having both poses available for any character would be nice too (and not just for drg either, i think both of the poses for DRK are super cool and would be nice for those to be available for any gender too)
In order to give DRG's more AOE coverage, we have decided to give them two -spears- dragons via Wyrmwind thrust.

Power Surge should be on the bar and also give you blue glowys. Literally the only thing I'm missing looking at the changes.
Everything else looks good. I wish they didnt remove positional requirements, but in the long run it's not so bad.

I honestly love that the buff from disembowl and Sonic thrust is Power Surge.
Power Surge was out one time jump buff CD for Dragoon that was made redundant thanks to Blood of the Dragon and was removed in StormBlood. Now it returns as a combo bonus and increases all of our damage.
I have to macro the Hanzo "Ryu ga waga teki wo karau," sound effect for when I do double dragon.

They have to make it so when you use mirage dive and get a stack of the eye buff, you glow blue!

The thing I find the best about these changes is the two charges on the jump. Now you can actually use it for movement without sacrificing dps.
