  • This is the last Jeep 2021 tour in Colorado. It was a last minute quick trip on our last day before leaving the Durango-Haviland Lake area. The South starting point for Old Lime Creek Road is only about 10 miles north of the campground, so it was a great opton for us. As part of the former main road between Durango and Silverton, it is one of the easiest trails we did while in Colorado. However, it is OLD and as such this “road” is unpaved, very rough and bumpy in many of places. I did not air down my tires on starting this traill, and part way into the trip I was wishing I had! Since it is close to Durango, it would make an excellent quick option for someone who is renting a Jeep from a concessionaire. It would also be a good starter trail for those just starting their off-the-paved-surface experience. However, it’s NOT wise to take your minivan or regular car on it! And forget about taking an RV (except maybe a pop top) on this trail! There is a copyrited photo showing a motorhome pulling a towed STUCK on one the the sharp turns on this trail. DO NOT join this select group of motorhome owners! I hope you enjoy this Jeep Ride-Along
Every year we take our 2004 Bluebird Wanderlodge M380 motorhome on an all-summer excursion to escape the brutal heat of the Desert Southwest. Besides the motorcoach Ride-Along’s as we travel between our campground locations, you’ll also find some fun Jeep tours in our 2021 Rubicon, and when I have time to put them together, a few campground drive-thru’s with big-coach commentary.

You made my day. We have traveled to that area every year since around 1985 but now we live in Ohio. At almost 80 years of age, I simply do not know if we could make it by car. Thank you again for the wonderful travel through the mountains near Silverton and Durango.

Glad you enjoyed it. Love that area! This Summer’s trip further N and just did Mosquito Pass E of Leadville CO yesterday. Hard to force myself into editing after a full day out on the trails. So videos out shortly. Thanks for watching!

It was a nice last minute run and close to our campsite at Haviland Lake. The rocky road was bumpier than I had expected but easy for our Jeep. Not so much for those people who were driving street vehicles. Thanks for watching!

I drive Lime Creek Road in my high clear clearance van. My big concern was getting a puncture from all the sharp rocks. Also had a black bear walk into my campsite

Made the mistake of not airing down on that run. Thought hey, it’s a road right? Wrong! Thanks for watching.

Yes, half way through I was wishing I’d taken the time to air down. An easy (for a Jeep) trail , but lots of bumps. Glad you enjoyed it.
