It's sad because he could have been the perfect counter to Anakin and Obi-Wan. They could have made it to where, every time Grievous shows up on screen, you know the good guys are about to lose that episode. Any Jedi he fights either dies or is forced to flee, and any battle he leads, he dominates. Outside of a few instances when he's beaten back after a desperate and cataclysmic battle and escapes just as it looks like he's about to get caught. You know, treat him like the books and comics did and build him up for his ROTS showing. It would make the "ease" of Anakin and Obi-Wan driving him off and Obi-Wan's showdown with him that much more impressive. They didn't have to make Mace Windu's quote in ROTS a face value fact.
The unfortunate reality is that a competent Grievous or competent villains in general aside from Sideous would have not only undermined Sideous but also made for a poor story. Grievous works in the original clone wars cartoon because it is intentionally edgy and exaggerated, Grievous would not work in the much more light hearted The Clone Wars series
It didn’t have to be so light-hearted. Not to mention the movie that came three years before that was the darkest in the history of the franchise that still gets presented to a myriad of age groups.
The 'bad guys pointing guns at the protagonists and have several seconds where they would logically open fire, BUT don't' is possibly my most hated cliche in any live action anything. But everyone in this show is an idiot. Especially whomever designed assassin droids which announce themselves, announce they're self destructing, put a long fuse on said destructing and also let their databanks be unfried after they are destroyed.
The only logical defence I've heard for them announcing self destruct is for if allies are around them and need to escape, accept surely the droids would recognise their is none around to save and just blow up? And let's not talk about the nuke they have lmao.
HK-47 would have slaughtered his way across the galaxy just to find that droid programmer so that he could tell them how disappointed he was with their utter lack of craftsmanship.
And the sith sorcery was even shown to do stuff like that. SWOTOR was dropping stories alongside the clone wars and my personal theory is that they added more magic to explain the witches later on
"Witch" was just how the Daughters of Allya described using the Force, as they even thought you had to chant spells to use the Force in the same ways we'd always seen. It was never "generic magic" until Filoni tossed the Canon aside and completely rewrote them. The Witches and Nightsisters also didn't have any unique skills, and were generally less powerful and skilled than your average Jedi Knight or Sith. Also, Dathomir was a lush, green jungle planet and the home of rancors. The "Witches" were the regular Force-users that used the Light Side, while the Nightsisters were exiled subsects that used only the Dark Side. Oh, and they were all human, not weird human/Zabrak hybrids. Darth Maul was from Iridonia.
Or killed by Vader at that Sith temple on Malachor and that can have a very heavy weight. Surviving Order 66 yet to only be taken down by her former master.
Ahsoka being killed by Anakin/Darth Vader would've cemented the fact that, at least at that point in the stort, Anakin Skywalker was gone. That not even his apprentice and little sister figure held any meaning to him and that he had committed himself fully to the dark.
Man had TWO perfect opportunities to kill her off. Order 66 and Malachor. He failed and now she's in a limbo that was completely avoidable. Obviously George knew what he was talking about and Dave here was WAY too attached to his oc.
Honestly Thrawn was such a misused character that he was there in name only. After Rebels Thrawn should have made a tepid alliance with Ezra and bring him back to his home world to see it in shambles from the Chiss's enemies which Thrawn would find himself NEEDING Ezra and his emerging Jedi powers to level the playing field while also showing Thrawn as the genius he is, we could also see his limited perspective blind him to the possibility of peace which Ezra would discover and complete his journey to becoming a Jedi by bridging a previously unthinkable peace. That would have been awesome. Instead, we just get Thrawn being a bad guy again when the story and Thrawn himself called for something different.
That's honestly mkre or less where I thought the story was going. Apparently I'm more creative than Dave Filoni, and apparently he really is like George Lucas because he needs other collaborates to exist as a sound board to help refine the execution of his mostly interesting ideas.
There is so much more to Thrawn than Disney will ever do justice to in live action. For example 9+ effing books with tons of Chiss lore. Yes I truly believe he would have done more with Ezra than just let him make friends with hermit crab people. Thrawn was never evil.
Sad part is, critics of Disney Star Wars and Filoni’s work are called “toxic” for not praising in lockstep with everything they make. Meanwhile, these sycophants are vastly more toxic for labeling all opposition as bigots and being ambivalent to the further decay of a once great franchise
I don't think that's true. I will admit that, even as someone who is very critical towards the current state of star wars, I am jaded towards a lot of criticism towards "Disney Star Wars" because there is a lot of shallow criticism of "wokeness" and media illiteracy. However, people like Schafrillas and Mr Sunday have been critical of recent Disney Star Wars and have not been called toxic or bigots because they don't fall into the same traps as certain youtubers.
Nobody is ruining Star Wars or the franchise. They’re ruining their own perspective. Their expectations of everything being the EU and Heir to the Empire has them all in a tizzy, but those weren’t written by George, by George! They don’t realize everything that happens in the EU could have (loosely) happened before the sequels. They have no idea what Dave has in mind to connect the stories much like *The Clone Wars* did for the prequels. The sequels follow George’s script loosely. He said LucasFilm won’t use his scripts, (not verbatim) but they did. That was the plan, but they didn’t bring Maul back for a third time and they didn’t use Darth Talon, a tattooed Twi’lek from the comics. They also weren’t going to inundate all the new fans with a deep dive into the Whills and Midichlorians. That can be done after they revive the franchise with new fans. That can be done in James Mangold’s *Dawn of the Jedi* or Prime Jedi movie. It will all fit together. Have patience.

It's amazing how the journey went from "Why does ahsoka even exist?" to "She's ok now" to "my god they are over using her" to "omg dave actually did it and put time travel in for his waifu" to finally "why does ahsoka even exist now?"
One of the biggest issues with the Ahsoka and Sabine scene is that with Obi Wan he was using what he had to teach a completely inexperienced Luke but Sabine is a veteran of the rebellion, a mandalorian and knew Kanan and was with him while he was blinded and had to use the force to see. This show seems to forget that entirely and makes her look like an idiot. Gone with any sense of character Rebels created.

I remember Penny Arcade did a comic about the Clone Wars show once: "[They're] going through canon with an axe. I don't know what's true any more!' "[Star Wars] is about space wizards who live in the past-future. Believe whatever...you want." "That's because you don't care about Star Wars. It's chilling to hear the audio of Dave talking in that intro section. Because he just sounds like a perfectly normal, regular guy. Like someone who you'd think: "I can trust this man. I feel safe leaving him to watch over my collection of Star Wars stuff for a little bit." 😦
@@Maniac742 those are not stories, they are what's known in the biz as "bold-faced lies" 😁. I mean, what did he ever do that might lend weight to those false promises ?
You are entitled to your enjoyment of The Clone Wars TV series, but to me, the Clone Wars Multimedia Project will always be the true Clone Wars experience: an Ahsoka-free storyline that gave us some of the best parts of that era of “Legends” continuity without the need to override and desecrate the stories that came before it. Barriss Offee, Siri Tachi, and General Grievous deserved better.
It's so often Filoni goes "George said, George wanted, George this and George that.". Whenever the topic has been slightly controversial in key decisions.
Sabine suddenly able to wield the force is clearly a move for girl power. Why now, then instead in Rebels, where she constantly at the side of two people that were force sensitive. It been better if that was not included. Technically, George wanted to kill Ashoka for Anakin's build up for his fall to the Dark Side, but her original character prevented her death. There been a constant push in Disney for female leads to replacing male leads, saying there's not enough female leads. I got no issues with the idea, but proper character development and a good if not great story line.
I began to hate Filoni's vision of Star Wars after how he handled ARC Troopers. In the original lore, they were specially bred to be more independent and hand trained by Jango Fett himself. I never got how they were any different from anyone else in the show when he kept making all the clones some Gi Joe soldier with their own marketable designs and personalities. Yeah, the humanization of the clones was pretty cool, but it clashed so hard with legends. I all but lost it when they introduced the inhibitor chip, being that the legends story was so much more interesting before it.
Yeah that was pretty much my experience too. I didn't mind the personalities and designs too much, because personalities do indeed change based on environment so the clones likely would have differences there from the training regimes, interactions with other people, different conflicts they took part in, etc. And as for the designs. Well, looking at past wars soldiers sure do love to accessorize. BUT right from the start he overdid it. Sure the personalities would shift, but they would also have common traits. Sure the designs would change, but not that drastically, they're still in uniform after all. But yknow... like all the other issues with CW I was willing to overlook it to some degree... and then the Arc troopers became meaningless, specially once non-Arc commandos popped up. But yknow. I was resentful but not too hurt. And then the blasted chips just. They just broke my goodwill. That was it right there. Not only do those blasted chips erase the humanization of the clones, they were just a terrible plot device in every way and a betrayal of prior cannon so astoundingly large I could not keep any hint of hope for Dave's redemption. I could forgive many, many things. I could even tollerate the space whales... Not the chips. That crossed the red line for me.
Thank you. Those were/ARE the worst episodes of a mid at best show. Them almost "discovering" order 66 is fucking beyond retarded. It dosen't make the clones turning one Jedi more tragic. It makes it less tragic. The clones all having their own personalities, souls if you will, and they carry out a contingency order because ultimately their alliegence is to the Republic and the Chancellor not the Jedi is all more tragic.
How is maul definitive??? Cutting someone half is dangerous if you use a metal blade because they would bleed out but without the bleeding out, no vital organs was affected, I know you love your balls but it's not vital... So if we stop the person from bleeding out, the person would be perfectly fine because their organs weren't affected... Now, what cauterize better than a light saber??? The swing was fast so not enough time to broil something... It's more feasible than a stab... These brainless people think stabbing someone in the torso with a light saber is more survivable than being cut in half at your waist because one looks bigger than the other because they only think with visuals... A stab to the torso gets something vital, it stays long in the body so the light saber is going to be broiling their insides for much longer and lastly, pulling it out causes even more damage... But they don't see this... They just see that one is bigger than the other without realizing that where maul was cut from won't be any different from being cut in half through your calf with an instant cauterization weapon... But these guys can't think and they say stupid things in the process because they haven't thought about it...
Bro I’m sorry but the chips just make more sense, why would the kaminoans or palpatine risk anything preventing the clones from completing their orders without an extra kick?
@omarbaba9892 In EU, there were 150 orders that clones were supposed to follow without question, to include order 66, and orders to arrest the chancellor should he be deemed unfit for office. Also, the clone wars series seems to romanticize the relationship between the clones and the jedi a bit. Sure, there was a respect between them, but it was also shown that the jedi were incompetent strategists and got a lot of clones killed. There were plenty of clones who hated their generals, and on top of that, from everyone's perspective, the jedi just attempted a coup against the chancellor and the republic. Being a sith wasn't outlawed, and there was no public evidence yet that Palpatine manipulated the clone wars. So there was a lot of good reasons for why the clones would follow order 66.
I don't really care whether Filoni is 'true to George's vision' because, well... George wasn't exactly a perfect creator, as you outlined yourself. What I DO care about is the fact that he's an extremely low-quality writer when it comes to things as basic as plotting, character writing, and even basic cause of effect. I've been deeply unimpressed by all of Filoni's work that I've seen, to the point that I'll clearly need to watch TCW at some point, just to understand why *anyone* likes him at all.
That's the difference. George was a great creative. Sometimes he wasn't a great writer and his best works were often when he had help in that department. That's fine. But he had a clear vision and created a great sandbox for the world of Star Wars. Dave's writing is generally derivative and extremely low-quality on top of that. It's to the point where even George's worst writing looks masterful when compared to Filoni. Both are fairly good directors as far as visual go. Ahsoka looked like a great middle ground between the Prequels and OT. But at least George understood his characters and their motivations and the need to portray that even if he struggled at times on screen to get his actors to emote correctly or write less clunky dialogue. Dave's writing and characters come off as cartoons. Which works for an animated children's show. But not for a live action outing that's supposed to be based in a in universe where people have average to above average IQ. 😂
I love the 2008 Clone Wars, not because of the people who made it, but because they made a good story, and with George's help. Honestly while I do appreciate Dave's work, the hype around him isn't as deserved as I originally thought
In all honesty, ppl praising movies and shows as the works of one guy is so silly. These aren't little indie films, these r made with huge teams and crews, so praising just one guy is rlly weird
I think George was talking about bluster and naivete when saying Ahsoka wouldn't be afraid of grievous. Teenagers aren't known for being of sound mind and a Jedi like Ahoska even moreso. Remember what Yoda said in AOTC when Obi-Wan talked about Anakin's pride and hubris? "Yes, a flaw more and more common among the Jedi. Even the old, more experienced ones." Not to mention how Jedi are trained from infancy to master their fear. And that's really the sense I get from Dave in regards to him being George's student. To quote Anakin from Legacy: "You know so much. You understand so little." Also, saying Ahsoka being small would be a boon shows he has no idea how sword fights work. The difference isn't nearly big enough to make her hard to hit, and she's nowhere near agile enough like Yoda to make it somewhat believable. She should have been destroyed by Grievous.
How does the New Republic even work? Why should the Chancellor hold a vote in the Senate to allow the general (!) to take a squadron if only one senator can approve this mission? Huyang throughout the series: gives logical and rational arguments for why Ahsoka's actions are idiotic. Ahsoka: no. Do as I say, I have plot armor and plot luck. Huyang: Okay. Minefield. Do you have any idea how many mines it takes to mine SPACE? And how long will it take? And why weren't any whales harmed by them? Naturally, flying straight through the wreckage, you won’t damage even the antenna on your boat... Sabin, you still haven’t told Ezra the situation, even though you don’t have time? What a stupid cow you are... How did Beilan and Shin negotiate with the red riders, who obviously do not know their language and who caught them over the corpses of their comrades? Naturally, Ahsoka and Sabine can connect mentally, despite the fact that Sabine is insensitive to the Force... and Ezra is sitting next to her, but Ahsoka does not feel him... Witches can not only sense Ahsoka, but also determine her position on the map with an accuracy of up to a meter? But they couldn't find Ezra for 10 years? Thrawn, if you don't care whether you defeat your enemies or not because you'll get off the planet, why don't you just shoot and bomb them from the air instead of sending a useless landing party? Actually, you don’t have many soldiers left, and you still have to fight the Republic... Ezra. You're a fucking Jedi. Take your fucking lightsaber and fight Shin! Sabin doesn't even use it! Ezra is so strong that he can forcefully stop Shin's blows, but Shin can knock him back and knock him out? The Ninja Turtles invented flying armored personnel carriers, but they shoot with fucking slingshots? By armored riders? How about just running them over? Ahsoka, why did you jump off to fight Baylan if your goal is to help Ezra and Ahsoka and he doesn’t threaten them? And your plan was to let Huyang burn you with flashes? Naturally, Ahsoka can simply drive into the frame through a crowd of stormtroopers, they can’t do anything at all... How about disarming and tying up Shin so you have a hostage and an extra lightsaber? No? In short, I've had enough. The series is shit, which will be licked because they showed us a hologram of Anakin and he said “Ventress.” Filoni is an arrogant hack, no better than Abrams or Johnson. Thanks everyone for reading.
The new republic can't work in Disney canon. It was destroyed in 5 minutes and barely mentioned in the sequels. This purposeful incompetence is supposed to explain their absence in the sequels. It doesn't.
_Dicaprio pointing at the TV meme:_ when Huehue Yang pulled the jerry-crab rigged ship *in line of sight and fire of the Chimera* rather than _behind the citadel,_ that was the continuity quality assurance fumble cherry on top of the GOT tier dialogue, editing, and shot composition. Filoni's a dime a dozen story board artist Yes Man promoted well beyond his ability. Rian Johnson-but-fangirl (and no technical chops at least) isn't saving anything.

WBW (world between worlds) by filoni's on words is where ALL OF TIME and SPACE connects... with that quote in mind! all of time would include past, present... and future! which means! 1) either the future is linear and that means that there is no such thing as free will or choice in the star wars galaxy. everything was predetermined long before you were ever born! meaning lukes willingness to sacrifice himself in order to try and redeem his father is not a sacrifice, for he never had the ability to choose not to do it! anakins redemption is meaningless because he could only ever of gotten redeemed at this very moment! so no free will means there is no stakes or tension, its all fate! or 2) what yoda said and that the future is always in motion and never set in stone means that dave filoni's WBW introduces a star wars multiverse scenario into star wars! because the future is not linear it has countless branching time lines thanks to the wbw being where ALL OF TIME AND SPACE connects! and because the WBW is time travel with extra steps its now also multiverse traveling! and every portal in the WBW can lead to a different time line where another choice was made, or a time line where palpatine was a jedi knight during the purge.... and here is the thing, you can tell from my spelling and grammar that i am NOT a writer, only a humble vicitim of the american public school system... however, i can save ahsoka better than dave filoni can and i came up with this while on the toilet in a QT (a gas station) when we see in rebels where ahsoka stabs the ground of the temple top downward with both her sabers it starts to crack and separate... instead of creating time travel to save her, have it to when vader does a series of heavy downward attacks the force of his impacts as she struggles to block them causes the now weakened floor to collapse causing ahsoka to fall right before the ancient sith super weapon explodes. the fall leaves ahsoka badly wouneded yet alive and also trapped on malachor until she is able to scout, salvage and repair mauls ship or one of the inquisitors ships to get off the planet or repairs them enough to be able to send out a distress beacon for an eventual rescue by people in range. the above sets to do 2 things. 1) save ahsoka without breaking the star wars universe and 2) to explain why ahsoka was not around during the tail end of the galactic civil war in a lore friendly way. it is not perfect but it is far better than filoni option
The bit with Ezra and Sabine getting relegated to merely a “sisterly” relationship made me realise… Disney Star Wars is almost completely deprived of romance.
I can't help but be reminded of the South Park boyband episode, The Ring... [Mr. Mouse]: "Where would you be without me, Jonas Brothers? Haha. Your music sucks and you know it! Haha. It's because you make little girls' 'ginies tickle. And when little girls' 'ginies tickle, I make money! Haha..."
I agree. But don't forget how George did romance when he was left to his own devices during the prequels. Stuff was soulless and robotic, almost like if an alien was describing what romance was.
I've never liked Dave Filoni ever since he bulldozed the original Clone Wars MMP, particularly Tartakovsky's work. That showed that if nothing else, he was a hack that had no respect for the work of other story-tellers. So I completely ignored TCW and basically anything else he did. He was lionized after TLJ and I can understand why but that Filoni has NEVER respected even Lucas' own continuity. He brought back characters that George himself killed in AOTC. That's apostasy in the highest degree as far as I'm concerned. You simply don't try and override G canon. If George said it happened. It happened. Eeth Koth, Maul, etc. Ahsoka is Dave's super special "OC do not steal" and her show is the culmination of his failing as both a story teller and a creative mind if general. He can only use the stories of more talented creators to prop up his own work.
Yep, when Filoni's version of Clone Wars launched, I saw Ahsoka for what she was, a writer's pet, so I never really bothered watching it. Then I later found out he brought back Darth Maul, and I was just like "How? That makes absolutely no sense. The dude was chopped in half and dropped down a bottomless pit. You don't come back from something like that."
@@dungeonsanddobbers2683to be fair the original "Old Wounds" comic did brought him back first. I could always see Maul comming back. The dark side kept Anakin alive. (Palpatine technically wasn't lying to Anakin about it being a path to power considered unnatural) It's totally believable. My grievance is bring him back was what it was pandering to draw in fans to watch. Also it was inevitable, that's the route these shows always take. Examples they brought in The Ones from the EU without Abeloth. Those RETARDED episodes when they "almost" discovered order 66 that's the worst if you ask me. Maul's Brother(who I liked). Bringing in Darth Bane. And a personal grievance of mine is Number 4 as the voice of the Clones.
@@evannlorman7926 That comic story was just a series of non-canon concepts from artists who worked on Revenge showcasing different ideas that didn't make it to screen. At one point, the revived Maul was in the role General Grievous occupied.
I have seen 5 or 6 videos that include some sort of take down of the blind fighting training, and have not noticed this: Sabine literally lived and worked with a jedi who lost his vision and had to learn to see through the force. Like the dude had his eyeballs burned out. It was a whole deal and everything. She definitely knows jedi can use the force to see. Also, I might be wrong but I think Ahsoka helped Kanan get his mojo back. Their behaviour in this scene makes zero sense based on life experience we have seen them have.
I think that while there's plenty to say about Filoni, one significant mistake people are making these days imo is assume that he has all the creative control that Lucas once did. Lucasfilm is no longer one man's vision, it's just another small part of Disney. To blame him for all the problems, as if he didn't have to answer to execs at both Disney and Lucasfilm (including KK and her wonderful vision for Star Wars) is seriously misunderstanding the situation. Ultimately whether he's good or bad, he's a small part of the equation. Star Wars is just one more piece of mass produced garbage that Disney is putting out, that's why it sucks.
It is also bold of you to assume that he doesn't. You need to have occams razor approach to this thing unless there is clear evidence that says otherwise. You could be right but if we start jumping to such conclusion nothing of the limits then. Give credit where credit is due if he did it right he would get all the praise.
@@MarkoLomovic Also bad products from big companies are usually because there's too little corporate meddling rather than too much. A production that is constantly getting delayed is a sign of too much corporate meddling, not the product simply being bad.
Filoni is that guy showing up to a party in a Wolf sweater talking about how all his ideas to fix the world would work if only those in charge were smart enough to listen to him. Also, I wish he'd keep George's name out of his mouth. The laziness and irreverence are strong with this one.
"The ideas are all our ideas." Very generous from someone who's not actually coming up with any good ideas. Mind if I share some of your money there comrade Filoni?
Im so happy this flopped honestly. Speaking il of Dave was like putting a bullseye on your head. Now that the crafted "savior of star wars that can do no wrong" image has been shattered he will get the criticism he deserves. As a massive star wars fan I have always felt his ego that could go unquestioned, made much of his changes and work feel more like a fanfic writer more interested in throwing his own creations into star wars rather than him "respecting lore" and telling the storys of established chars. I mean the clone wars. Literally called the clone wars. Sidelines every single clone we as fans knew and loved. To promote new clones we knew nothing about. Prime example. Commander bacara. Remember that unique clone that executed potatoe head? Ki adi? They literally replaced him for jet? Why??? You could have seen the freaking marines!! What about neyo? Bly? Gree? Appo? Cody even! Even Cody is terrible. He's sidelined to say nearly nothing and be there for lip service instead of telling his story. Another example is bad batch. Who wanted a rag tag band of moron commandos? EVERYONE WANTS DELTA SQUAD. But no. He inserted his fanatic chars in and made a series about a bunch of mentally and physically disabled morons. The only decent thing I can say is I guess the clone wars did the jedi decently. But they felt too nice to me.
The Clone Wars highlighted how brain dead and arrogant the Jedi were to have all the evidence in the universe, and definitely the means, and still fail. I mean, they had to cuz it was both set before Ep3 but made after it, but it really just makes the prequels and to an extent, A New Hope, worse.
I may disagree on the specifics but agree 100% on the sentiment. The funny part is, I remember back when people hated Filoni. I mean back during S1 of Clone Wars, before KK destroyed SW cannon. Filoni was the biggest lore destroyer around and so many SW forums called him out repeatedly. But now KK blew everything up suddently people treat him like he's the bloody savior. Which, to use SW as an alegory, is like praising Count Dooku for fighting against Palpatine! Just because we have a common enemy doesn't mean he's in any way right. I don't hate Filoni that much. Even like CW despite being painfully aware of the lore mistreatment. But even at his best, he NEEDED reeling in. Needed to be put on a leash so he wouldn't mess up the lore. Much like Lucas, actually. We've all seen what happened when he escaped his leash. Jar Jar happened! Instead people started acting like he could do no wrong, when he's a very flawed writer at best. I'm still mad he gave the clones chips and made them slaves. To see a story about the clone perspective on order 66, and how they deal with the fact they were next on the chopping block as Palpatine would indeed eventually attack kamino and hunt them down too. To see the indoctrination fall bit by bit as they come to realize what they've done and where this is going. That would have been actually amazing. Instead we got braindead mindslaves that get slaughtered regularly by the couple defective clones that were never on board, pure good vs evil narrative with 0 nuance at the fact they're literally butchering their own kin. That has to be the biggest waste of potential in the entire saga. And "wasted potential" may as well be SW's subtitle.
Honestly, what do you expect from Dave Filoni who had admitted that he admired Rian Johnson directing style for the Disney Star Wars Sequel. That said a lot of how he just do random shit because he want to be like Rian Johnson. Not to mentioned, he outright said he doesn't like to be put in a box when directing. Dave disregarded/disrespect EU lore and it clearly show in his work. People who still say that Dave Filoni will "save" Star Wars because he just got promoted need to wake up or they are just a bunch of moronic fan cult of Dave Filoni.
@@OG-ColorfulAbyss. Actually in Attack of the Clones Yoda did said the future was clouded by the Dark Side, so it is not just arrogance. They literally can't sense the future that well in the prequels.
@@artarealmblazer The first season of Andor managed to keep me engaged through almost every episode. It wasn't perfect, but at least I'm excited for the second one. That previous sentence I've not uttered for any Star Wars movie, or series since the prequels (yes, I like those, because I was 14 when I watched Ep. 1 and it got me into the Star Wars Universe to begin with).
The fact that they didn't redraw the mural and actually tried to wring pathos out of the unfathomably goofy image of the animated Clone Wars cast plastered on a wall in a style totally divorced from any depiction of art in Star Wars really drove home the realization that this series has the depth and complexity of a McDonalds Play Place. The storytelling went from "rote Hero's Journey" to "toy commercial with literally no plot," and the weird thing is how few SW fans seem to notice the difference. The OG Star Wars series survived despite its stupidity, not because of it. The original trilogy (particularly a New Hope) kept you on this emotional knife edge where things were "fun" because they were intense, not because they were silly. Chewbacca threatening to rip off arms: fun because intense. The scene where C3P0 think he's hearing the cast screaming as they are crushed to death but in reality they are whooping with relief: fun because intense. The scene where Luke finds himself fighting a moon-sized battle station as his fellow rebels die horribly all around him: fucking incredible because intense. The funny thing is, you can see that Filoni and the other writers understand this on some level, because they try to make every single encounter between characters this legendary event replete with high drama and cool poses and dramatic samurai fight scenes. And it doesn't work because you start to realize there are no normal people left. It's just this galaxy where EVERYONE is special. We got to see Luke Skywalker in his down time, making a fool of himself, revealing that at the end of the day he was a normal guy who had decided to do something important with his life. It wasn't just that he was "special," and that purely existing meant that he would naturally interact with all the important people and do all the important things. In some part, Star Wars was about this idea that you can live every day of your life without making a difference, or that you can spend every day until you die fighting for what you believe in, but first you must believe in something. Luke's a good protagonist because he understands the importance of the things he's doing, and because the option to fuck off and make it everyone else's problem is always presented to him as an option. He DECIDES to do things. He could have rebuilt his home, buried his aunt and uncle, and spend the rest of his days with the dim awareness that life was unfair and wondering if he could have done more, KNOWING he could. But he doesn't do that. He goes on a journey right in front of our eyes. He is vulnerable in a way no other character ever is because he believes in goodness, and that belief stands the test. He learns that there in good in him, and in the awful, cruel galaxy he calls home, and in many of the strange, alien creatures that seem so threatening at first. He makes sacrifices, he learns, and decides. And his decisions inspires others. Luke's journey was never just his own, because he understood that being a good person means more than fighting bad people, it means loving them. He saves Han's life by giving him an ideal beyond survival. After an evident lifetime of deceit and fear, Han finally sees someone doing the right thing, someone who earns his begrudging trust and respect, someone who sees the good in everything, even him. Han's soul is redeemed, and he saves the entire rebellion. Luke doesn't fight Vader but he doesn't run away, that's his decision. He body-blocks the concept of destiny as it has been presented to him. He's there to stop a fight, not finish one. Giving in to the Dark Side was this tangible threat because Luke started the series going with the flow in a universe that needed people fighting for it, and because you knew his dad had done the same thing back when the Jedi were something he'd dedicated his whole life to. There were threats to Luke's character because he had one. He had a bad side, he had an impatient side, he had a side that told him he knew best. And those were FLAWS, because the writers allowed them to be. Making Star Wars this safe place where everyone looks like they just stepped out of a salon and wields some legendary blade and was trained by robot ninjas makes it fucking SHIT. I liked Star Wars when it felt like a glimpse into a different world that could conceivably exist, not into the imagination of a 13-year old DragonBall fan
The main problem with modern Star Wars "fans" is this: The majority of them have never seen episode 4-6. I guarantee they haven't. They understand the story very glibly, and see the original films as "old", and only held up due to nostalgia. This has allowed Disney to simply do as they please because the current crop of Star Wars viewer has no attachment to the story to begin with because all they care about are the cartoons, Clone Wars and the prequels.
@@Vespyr_ While I agree, I would say, that they did not rewatch them. I saw episode 4-6 and when Vader revealed he is Luke's father, that had an extremely big emotional effect on me. Yet as a kid, when the prequels were coming out I thought the prequels were much cooler. The theme and the world was more: richer in a way. I found the story of the prequels far better, I even used to like Jar Jar. It was as a teen, when I rewatched the OT, that I truly appreciated the story, because I understood it more. It was then, that I liked and noticed the far superior acting present in the OT. It was in retrospect, that I found Jar Jar as an okay character, rather than a good one. The PT is better on the surface, the OT is better if you take time to immerse yourself in it and have the ability to understand it. The world advances faster, because of this entertainment is also faster. Everything is faster, because it is preceived as fast=effective. In reality speed burns out over time, and what is quickly earned will last not long. This instant gratification culture will come at a huge cost... It's like in history, when the Axis quickly conquered Western Europe, but then attacked the Soviet Union and could not deal a knock out punch fast enough. The war machine stalled, and the Axis found itself in a war attrition which it could not afford. I fear the same fate awaits the West. It will find itself stuck in a conflict it did not prepare for and one it cannot adopt to. At least Mickey Mouse certainly is in such a conflict, but I believe they are not out there anymore for profit, but for brainwashing, thus whether they make money or not matters little at this point. They can go bankrupt, it will not change a thing.
@@clone3_7 I mostly agree on the talk about rewatch, but I will say that the PT has some things that are better on the surface, others that are worse, but in terms of theme and the really deep elements of story telling and a few moments... it has one of the best tragedies in cinema and Order 66 is the best apocalypse sequence in every way that has ever been put to film.
The Bundy edit is absolutely savage, what a takedown (he's absolutely the weasel type). Need to see you do a panel with Darth Melvin, Raging Ryno, Ryan Kinnel and really go into the weeds on this treasonous clown.
Calling Disney's version of Thrawn, a Doctor Evil level of villain, is actually an insult to Dr Evil. Disney Thrawn makes Dr. Evil look like Batman in comparison!
If what Dave said about Lucas only intending the movies and show as canon, why did he (Lucas) include easter eggs of the EU in rereleases? Lucas never said the stories of EU were non-canon, rather they were a different kind of canon (which you could still take as one being canon and the other not, but that wasnt really Lucas' intention as evidenced by shit like the inclusion of Dash Rendar's ship taking off from Mos Eisley)
I think you're reaching here, as George said on multiple occasions that the EU was a separate universe than his movies. “There are two worlds here; There’s my world, which is the movies, and there’s this other world that has been created, which I say is the parallel universe-the licensing world of the books, games and comic books.” - George Lucas, Cinescape, July 2001 “I don’t read that stuff. I haven’t read any of the novels. I don’t know anything about that world. That’s a different world than my world. But I do try to keep it consistent. The way I do it now is they have a Star Wars Encyclopedia. So if I come up with a name or something else, I look it up and see if it has already been used. When I said [other people] could make their own Star Wars stories, we decided that, like Star Trek, we would have two universes: My universe and then this other one. They try to make their universe as consistent with mine as possible, but obviously they get enthusiastic and want to go off in other directions.” - George Lucas, Starlog, August 2005
@Lobsterwithinternet that's Lucas acknowledging the EU. I admit to reaching, but that was addressed by remark in parentheses. Ep 4 is obv canon, and Dashs ship is in the rerelease which Lucas says is canon, therefore Dash is canon.
@@MrAweeze Again, you're reaching here. At most you can say that a ship similar to the _Outrider_ was in Episode 4. And if we used that standard, not only is ET canon to Star Wars but Indiana Jones and Star Trek is as well. Both which contradict their established timelines.
@Lobsterwithinternet yup, it's just a coincidence it's the same exact ship taking off at the same time and place as the game. Sure. Also, no clue how tying a SW video game to its source material allows one to draw the conclusion I would think characters and settings from a completely separate IP (well, property at least lol)are related. How silly.
I don't really think the reason for Ahsoka being stoic is mainly to have Anakin and Ahsoka together. It was mostly because Gandalf transition to Gandalf the white in LOTR, that Dave loved. He wanted to create that himself with Ahsoka. It became nothing she changed he wet close.
Dawg filoni definitely had no part in bringing back palatine he barely had a role in the sequels and sequels directed by him would look considerably different
Uh no he was against that with maul and only brought back Ashoka for future shows and appearances not to shock the audience necessarily cuz we didn’t even know if she was dead and he’s made so many other hooks besides that
Right now it feels like the only thing that can save SW is total reboot, I mean basically erase every recognizable name and create new story, new heroes. KOTOR did it and did it well, same universe but no direct connections Another possibility is to take different era entirely or big time difference so at best there would be only mentions of old characters, simply to establish the connection. Again KOTOR and SWTOR, its something like 300 years between them, so we got some fan service things, but mostly connections are thin and again SWTOR got 8 pretty interesting stories for 8 classes. Most importantly - KOTOR and SWTOR shows that you dont need Vader, Luke, Kenobi, Yoda, Rebels, Resistance and so on to write a good SW story.
One of the reasons why I as a DM never liked setting my D&D games in existing settings, is because I had to learn too much about said setting. They had "rules" which I didn't want to be constrained by. At the same time, this is why you need Lore custodians, who can assist a writer and director into making a story that works within the setting. I know for instance Warhammer novels tend to give certain chapters to a writer. Sort of making that writer partly the custodian for that chapter of space marines. Which is a great idea, since it limits the number of rules each person needs to learn at any given time
Filoni and the CW crew had a "Holocron Keeper" (Leland Chee) to help keep continuity and lore in line. But as you can see, his advice/use of a continuity police was pretty much ignored.
Gundam did something pretty interesting, there is the original continuity, Universal Century, and then several Alternate Universes with completely different continuities (Thunderbolt is AU UC but you get the point). This means you get different stories, structured a set of defining Gundam motifs, with specs, skills, technology and the like that differ considerably across the board. This allows for the franchise to be full of allusions to other entries- a bit all over- while reworking some threads across these as well, while taking what works and dropping what doesn’t. And this does not always work. At times, titles strive too hard to incorporate Gundam motifs even when they make very little sense, other times they deviate a lot and one wonders if they are not just “Gundam” because there’s a mecha by that name the main focus. But it allowed the franchise, uneven as it is, to be revived even when it bombs very hard.
Leaving the galaxy was the moment it became unrecoverable for me. I honestly think its a bigger issue than people let on, and opens the door on too many things.
After initially disliking her as an 8 year old boy, Ahsoka quickly grew to become my favorite character in Star Wars and she still holds a special spot in my heart. But even several years back, with Rebels essentially retconning her death, I became concerned about her continued presence in the franchise. I even began to argue that she should have died at Twilight of the Apprentice, but was somewhat hopeful that maybe, just maybe, she could find new footing. Now, after this show, I have fully accepted that yes, she should've died in Rebels. And it's just for the simple reason that if she had, they wouldn't have had this opportunity to ruin her. Sometimes it is better that your old heroes and stories are laid to rest, otherwise they'll be paraded out like circus freaks. Though, if you do lay them to rest, make sure to bury them deep and lose the map, elsewise these corporatists will dig up the corpse and puppet it them around.
Even as an OT guy that really wasn’t a fan of the prequels I still found redeeming qualities in the story George told. I may have hated jar-jar, the wooden acting, the super-powered jedi and the way the cartoons messed up movie canon but the overall story arc and the world building was still carefully put together like Star Wars should be. Just a glance at anything Disney except Rogue one and Andor and I can tell those shows/movies characters aren’t in the same universe George created…
Gandolf didn't become The White, because he challenged the previous one, but because he poured everything he had into the task Eru Ilùvatar assigned to him, while the other Maiar have fallen, or are gone (the Balrog is a Maia too)
I was going to point that out as well but it was the only inconsistency I noticed in this 67 minute video tbh. Gandalf did fight his former master Saruman but that did not turn him white. The Balrog was never Gandalf's master. As a Maia, why does the Balrog basically only have a lot of brute strength? It doesn't seem to have brains and only has limited magic. Maybe it's because the bad guys are just tortured and maimed copies of the good guys like orcs / elves? However, I can easily believe that Filoni's level of understanding of LOTR would be that poor - and he would not bother to look it up on Wikipedia. He can't even be bothered to stick to Star Wars lore. 😂
@@dronesclubhighjinks Sarumon, also wasn't Gandalf's master, he was elected as the leader of the Council, with Gandalf not being chosen because he didn't want it, out of fear (he didn't even want to go on the mission, because he was terrified of Sauron (another Maia), and is why Erù picked him). Gandalf's Valar is of death, greif, and compassion (I forgot her, sorry), but Gandalf's fear was his weakness. It took meeting, and caring about the Hobbits for him move past his fear, and so Erù granted him mortal life again, so he alone could assist in defeating Sauron. That is why he acts so much more directly when he returns, not because he's on borrowed time (this isn't Babylon 5), but because the crucible point was drawing near, and his limiter no longer effected him
@dronesclubhighjinks in the book, the Balrog was made out to be intelligent. If I remember correctly, just before the Bridge of Khazad Dum, Gandalf and the Balrog had a sort of wizards duel as Gandalf was casting spells to seal the doorway behind them so the goblins couldn't follow, and the Balrog dismantled the spells one by one before completely blowing the door away. In the book and movie, Gandalf addressing the Balrog the way he did does sort of give the idea of intelligence. At least to me. But yes, overall, it does seem to be because they are corrupted. Orcs, Dragons, trolls, they are all intelligent but savage and brutal in their methods. The Balrogs are no different.
I feel like I don't see it said enough that Ashoka's central problem is that none of the characters felt like their rebel counterparts at all, Ashoka included. You wouldn't guess that any of them had any kind of history with how underwhelmingly they interacted or even greeted each other
I can’t see how anyone can think obi wan is worse than this. I always thought filoni was a hack. His works are made for children. He turned eu Thrawn into a cartoon villain. Then zahn turned his own eu Thrawn into a soap opera gundam esque savant that only exists because the emperor put a pause on his xenophobia for the point of??? Well idk, maybe so that price and Thrawn could go around on becoming cartoon villains for “relatable” reasons. As if seeing characters becoming coruscanty socialites is what we all want to see. Obiwan had terrible acting and the worst villains I’ve ever seen in any media but part of the reason is that inquisitors were always utilized as cartoon fodder. Obi wan the show served the purpose of showing how the disgraced Jedi obi wan transitioned into the hermit old Ben and I think it achieved that. I can’t say it did a good job but.. At some point they had to address the trauma of anakins betrayal. Obi wan had a purpose and achieved it somewhat heavy handidly and certainly in a way that was as ugly as it could get. But it’s so much better and more respectful to the original six than “fat Thrawn and his witch harem”
this is so on point. "dr evil meme villain" is the perfect description of ahsoka's thrawn. filoni's on that jj abrams career track where each project is somehow worse than the last, so safe to say I'm not hype for whatever they let him crayon next
I dropped off rebels when Vader and Thrawn became more prevalent and when they butchered lore by turning Malachore 5 into a glorified fighting arena. Ok credit to the witches of Dathomer in general they are a subset if force users that were exiled to Dathomer after learning about Sith alchemy. In that case "magic" was just the force in a guise ( in the clone wars season 7 Duku and Palpatine use it when Yoda visits Koriban). My problem with filoni and the clone wars team was making Dathomer only have nightsisters a single clan of the witches.
No, in season 5 or 6 of TCW, Mother Talzin explains she can't use the Force and there's a 2 episode mini arc about her trying to do a ritual to give herself the ability to use it. Mace Windu and Jar Jar of all people stop her. The Night Sisters were never force users. People attribute them to being the Witches of Dathomir for obvious reasons, but the Night Sisters themselves are a TCW exclusive creation.
@@TheOwneroftheIC no, you're thinking of the Witches of Dathomir. The Night Sisters are different. The Witches didn't use energy bows or vehicles like the Night Sisters. They rode Rancors and were very primitive. They barely interacted with the galaxy outside of Dathomir, whereas the Nightsisters were allies of the Sith and sold their skills on the galactic market. The Witches of Dathomir were descendents of Jedi and use the force in a wild and primitive way, while the Nightsisters didn't use the Force at all. The Night Sisters, the faction shown in TCW, are a TCW exclusive creation that are clearly based on the Witches of Dathomir, but they are not the same.
@@corruptangel6793 The Night Sisters are a tribe of Dathomir Witches. They weren't created from TCW, they were lifted from the EU. All those stupid things like the energy bows and Sith connection you mentioned were TCW-exclusive but not the group themselves.
@@TheOwneroftheIC they should've added an additional planet named Malachor, but with another number like 4 or 3 and no one would complain. Like what's one more spooky planet that's also another ancient battleground.
Felonis writing in Ashoka is some of the most pathetically contrived I've ever seen. At times stuff happened because the script said so. The most egregious example of this was when star destroyer turbolasers MISSED 3 space dogs at point blank range....because the script said so. Terrible.
I feel like filoni still wears the hat because he doesnt want to admit how dumb it is so he decided to stick with it no matter how ridiculous it is….just like his writing
I cant wait until star wars turns into a story about unicorns and barbarians and a loving father disguising himself as a nanny to see his kids. Imagine, if we tried to "stay true" to what came before, we might miss out on so many *unbelievable* interpretations. Once star wars becomes everything, it will be nothing at all and there will still be people that love it and won't know why.
And the follow-up is here! Dave always had this odd ego about him, so it's only nature taking it's course as things finally come crumbling down upon him!
It really funny how Filoni thinks changing a character’s clothes counts as character development. Like, he noticed that Anakin’s clothes become darker in the prequels (along with a massive character shift) and said Oh I’ll just change Ahsoka to white and she’ll be magically pure now! Also give this man a sub! Do it!
I did have a feeling when Favreau brought Mandalorian and the beginning of the Mandowerse to Iger and got it greenlit. Before Dave was involved, Jon had a plan to give fans Star Wars as we knew it. But also he said that fans didn't get to see the OT heroes together and as we knew them, then also hinting on that we deserved that. It felt like he had a plan with series and movies for the era up until TFA. And the feeling of getting Luke Han and Leia together again got stronger after the Mando s2 final episode. We also know that after that Kathleen got back, she fired Gina and also promoted Dave to Excecutive Creative Manager right in time for BoBF. Since then Dave have been making Creative decisions in all projects and Favreau have had less to say. I actually think this Thrawn Heir to the Empire movie might have been what Jon planned for, but Dave and Kathleen who had already hijacked Jon's plans. Made it about Daves characters instead, Kathleen hates Luke and Dave is more or less sitting in her lap.
George was wrangled properly when the OT was made. He had free reign during the PT, and we had some mishaps, along with some of the absolute best moments of the entire franchise. Filoni was wrangled properly in his time on Clone Wars, and then had mishaps, along with some of the best of animated Star Wars. Now we're seeing what he really wants, and that's to make his waifu invincible and perfect. I loved Ahsoka in TCW and Rebels, but not so much after that. With everything else put aside, such as Anakin appearing for Ahsoka but allowing Luke to fail, it's all headed in a bad direction in my eyes. Hopefully it picks up and gets back on track to something great, but it's not looking like that's what we're gonna get. Great video man, I just want to slightly criticize the constant cutaways to the short clips from the series. It was a biiit much, but I will allow you to ADD THIS FINE SUBSCRIPTION TO YOUR COLLECTION
Star wars insider interviews show Goerge had a surface level involvement only funding it and being a executive producer. They even admitted he only popped in once a week to see how things were going because he was done with Star Wars after RotS and was focused on making Red Tails
I'm glad people can say Filoni isn't good. He is the worst kind of fan. Good material, copies it and ignores what made it good, but expects you to love it cause its a nod to the Legends or uh hum, what made Star Wars good.
Asoka is a character who reached a logical endpoint in the original Clone Wars run. She had a nice epilogue in the Disney+ season. Every other appearance of her including in her own show is superfluous.
dont forget they turned sabine into a villain because she was willing to sacrifice the entire galaxy to reunite with her quasi friend she sees as a brother out of nowhere? or when baylen talks about how ahsoka was the reasons sabine wasnt helping during the mandolore purge and yet sabine has little to no issues with ahsoka over the fact that if she was involved sabine could of likely saved her parents from dying lol... she should be furious with ahsoka and border line hates her for not letting her go. how did ahsoka keep sabine from going to help her famile from the purge of mandalore? and why did sabine let her stop her?!? lets also not forge the world between worlds is not only time travel with an extra step but possibly 2 things far worse than time travel! ...
Considering Sabine’s actions, I fail to see how she would Ezra as a “brother”. Obviously, she’s clearly in love with that guy if she was able to do something crazy like this at this magnitude.
@@coletrain583 in case you did not actually watch the show rebels (ahsoka is a sequel/continuation of the show rebels...) sabine had zero romantic interest in ezra and often saw him as her annoying yet sweet younger brother.... in the show erza had the hots for HER but SHE did not share the same feelings in any way, shape, or form. in ahsoka her choice is a moronic and retarded one, the character would have never made that choice based on her history and her character.... this is filoni not understanding HIS OWN CHARACTERS yet again...

Grievous' Nerf is the greatest anime betrayal I've experienced
Absolutely
Not to mention the movie that came three years before that was the darkest in the history of the franchise that still gets presented to a myriad of age groups.
he was nerfed in rots, so idk what you're whining about.
Almost as stupid as a Small hole in a Space Station, being all you need to destroy such a space station.
Also Stormtroopers missing every time except when Mando is on screen, suddenly they gain aimbot accuracy 😂
@@MrOiram46but only hitting the armor pieces, never someone aiming for the gap
The only logical defence I've heard for them announcing self destruct is for if allies are around them and need to escape, accept surely the droids would recognise their is none around to save and just blow up? And let's not talk about the nuke they have lmao.
HK-47 would have slaughtered his way across the galaxy just to find that droid programmer so that he could tell them how disappointed he was with their utter lack of craftsmanship.

In the old EU I always assumed that the "witches" simply used rare dark side Force abilities.
Some of the Old Republic Era Sith used Sith Sorcery.
And the sith sorcery was even shown to do stuff like that. SWOTOR was dropping stories alongside the clone wars and my personal theory is that they added more magic to explain the witches later on
We've seen Palpatine use a lot of weird powers...
@Bayard1503 after all the dark side of the force is a path to abilities some consider to be ... Unnatural.

They should have gone with George’s idea to kill off Ahsoka.
I loved her when I was kid, so it would bring more weight to Order 66 if she was killed.
Or killed by Vader at that Sith temple on Malachor and that can have a very heavy weight. Surviving Order 66 yet to only be taken down by her former master.
Filoni hides behind Lucas and sticking to his vision...but kept Ahsoka alive EXPLICITLY against George's wishes.
He has no leg to stand on. Guilty af.
Exactly. George told Filoni to kill her off. It makes no sense that she's still around. Where was she during the events of the original movies?

I've experienced some of that with this very video.
@@workingjellyfish Shame about that, because this was very well made. Some people just cannot be reached

The circle is now complete!

Barriss Offee, Siri Tachi, and General Grievous deserved better.
Didn't the whole "George's protegé" only start when Filoni himself kept referring to himself as such?
It's so often Filoni goes "George said, George wanted, George this and George that.".
Whenever the topic has been slightly controversial in key decisions.
Genndy Tartakovsky made the ultimate clone wars material before this hack.
FUCKING FACTS the comics where are so epic
All he does is retcon, make his characters more important, and strand people on planet’s with “cute” aliens
george was a great creator and came up with star wars.
@@ssadq every 60 seconds in Afrika, a minute passes.
Rebels wasn’t bad it had way too much filler but it had some decent parts.
I usually hate when creators add senseless scenes to finish their dialogue but the way you do it and the comedic timing is great.
Predictable writing, no attachment to any of the characters, and no one dies from lightsaber wounds anymore. Thanks a lot Dave Filoni
It's funny that Filoni is destroying his own characters, like he seems to forget what his characters are at all.
Yeah, looks that way.
Even the old, more experienced ones."
Not to mention how Jedi are trained from infancy to master their fear.
And that's really the sense I get from Dave in regards to him being George's student. To quote Anakin from Legacy: "You know so much. You understand so little."
Also, saying Ahsoka being small would be a boon shows he has no idea how sword fights work. The difference isn't nearly big enough to make her hard to hit, and she's nowhere near agile enough like Yoda to make it somewhat believable. She should have been destroyed by Grievous.
Weight classes exists for a reason
Yeah when he said that I was like “man I’m inferring from this and what your showing are two different things”

Witches can not only sense Ahsoka, but also determine her position on the map with an accuracy of up to a meter? But they couldn't find Ezra for 10 years?

Naturally, Ahsoka can simply drive into the frame through a crowd of stormtroopers, they can’t do anything at all...
How about disarming and tying up Shin so you have a hostage and an extra lightsaber? No?
In short, I've had enough. The series is shit, which will be licked because they showed us a hologram of Anakin and he said “Ventress.” Filoni is an arrogant hack, no better than Abrams or Johnson. Thanks everyone for reading.

lets also not forge the world between worlds is not only time travel with an extra step but possibly 2 things far worse than time travel!
... WBW (world between worlds) by filoni's on words is where ALL OF TIME and SPACE connects... with that quote in mind!
all of time would include past, present... and future! which means!
1) either the future is linear and that means that there is no such thing as free will or choice in the star wars galaxy. everything was predetermined long before you were ever born! meaning lukes willingness to sacrifice himself in order to try and redeem his father is not a sacrifice, for he never had the ability to choose not to do it! anakins redemption is meaningless because he could only ever of gotten redeemed at this very moment! so no free will means there is no stakes or tension, its all fate!
or
2) what yoda said and that the future is always in motion and never set in stone means that dave filoni's WBW introduces a star wars multiverse scenario into star wars! because the future is not linear it has countless branching time lines thanks to the wbw being where ALL OF TIME AND SPACE connects! and because the WBW is time travel with extra steps its now also multiverse traveling! and every portal in the WBW can lead to a different time line where another choice was made, or a time line where palpatine was a jedi knight during the purge....
and here is the thing, you can tell from my spelling and grammar that i am NOT a writer, only a humble vicitim of the american public school system... however, i can save ahsoka better than dave filoni can and i came up with this while on the toilet in a QT (a gas station)
when we see in rebels where ahsoka stabs the ground of the temple top downward with both her sabers it starts to crack and separate... instead of creating time travel to save her, have it to when vader does a series of heavy downward attacks the force of his impacts as she struggles to block them causes the now weakened floor to collapse causing ahsoka to fall right before the ancient sith super weapon explodes. the fall leaves ahsoka badly wouneded yet alive and also trapped on malachor until she is able to scout, salvage and repair mauls ship or one of the inquisitors ships to get off the planet or repairs them enough to be able to send out a distress beacon for an eventual rescue by people in range.
the above sets to do 2 things. 1) save ahsoka without breaking the star wars universe and 2) to explain why ahsoka was not around during the tail end of the galactic civil war in a lore friendly way. it is not perfect but it is far better than filoni option
I've disliked Filoni ever since he ruined Order 66 with the brain chip nonsense. Glad he's finally being seen for what he is.
The bit with Ezra and Sabine getting relegated to merely a “sisterly” relationship made me realise… Disney Star Wars is almost completely deprived of romance.
Even that came off as forced and a bit of lecture, honestly it just makes their dynmanic confusing and pretty dysfunctional.
But oddly for the lack of romance, they do seem to wanna push sexual stuff in most of their media.
Haha..."
One thing I'm actually happy about.
Amen 🙏🏽 his clone wars show is complete garbage and 7 season long retcon
Yep, when Filoni's version of Clone Wars launched, I saw Ahsoka for what she was, a writer's pet, so I never really bothered watching it.

I didn't even think about that. They spent alot if time with Kanan when he was blinded. Super weird

I mean, they had to cuz it was both set before Ep3 but made after it, but it really just makes the prequels and to an extent, A New Hope, worse.
idk i agree with you on most parts but he did something special with tcw hes been desperately trying to replicate since
I may disagree on the specifics but agree 100% on the sentiment.

Don't know about you, but to me Knights of the Old Republic II and Andor are on high quality storytelling level.
I dropped Andor at episode 8, the characters were boring.

@@Vespyr_ i met a guy who shills Filoni's crap, he told me won't see the OT bc "It's boring, i already know what happens" lol
Hey now, no need to insult Masters of the Universe and Transformers by associating toy commercials with Ahsoka.
Evil look like Batman in comparison!
that Plo Koon in space story sounds kind of wholesome tbh
If what Dave said about Lucas only intending the movies and show as canon, why did he (Lucas) include easter eggs of the EU in rereleases? Lucas never said the stories of EU were non-canon, rather they were a different kind of canon (which you could still take as one being canon and the other not, but that wasnt really Lucas' intention as evidenced by shit like the inclusion of Dash Rendar's ship taking off from Mos Eisley)
Also Filoni says its noncanon while gleefully pillaging from it. Dude is a plagiarist at heart
I think you're reaching here, as George said on multiple occasions that the EU was a separate universe than his movies.
“There are two worlds here; There’s my world, which is the movies, and there’s this other world that has been created, which I say is the parallel universe-the licensing world of the books, games and comic books.”
- George Lucas, Cinescape, July 2001
“I don’t read that stuff. They try to make their universe as consistent with mine as possible, but obviously they get enthusiastic and want to go off in other directions.”
- George Lucas, Starlog, August 2005
Filoni sounds like Kennedy trying to use Lucas name as validation while ignoring his ideas for canon
"Getting cut in half is pretty definitive."
Unlike being disintegrated in a Death-Star explosion.
Dawg filoni definitely had no part in bringing back palatine he barely had a role in the sequels and sequels directed by him would look considerably different
44:20 you already knew Star Wars Theory heard this quote and nodded his head while saying "Mmm yes of course"
Dave Filoni's only writing hook is "what? character dead but actually ALIVE?"
Uh no he was against that with maul and only brought back Ashoka for future shows and appearances not to shock the audience necessarily cuz we didn’t even know if she was dead and he’s made so many other hooks besides that
That beginning intro with the bundy documentary edit was perfect, ur Disney star wars vid made me subscribe and ik this will be another good deep dive
Right now it feels like the only thing that can save SW is total reboot, I mean basically erase every recognizable name and create new story, new heroes. KOTOR did it and did it well, same universe but no direct connections
Another possibility is to take different era entirely or big time difference so at best there would be only mentions of old characters, simply to establish the connection.
@@Nocturnalux Gundam is for sure one of the healthiest franchises out there because of this.
Leaving the galaxy was the moment it became unrecoverable for me. I honestly think its a bigger issue than people let on, and opens the door on too many things.
"And Disney's rap sheet for that particular charge is ever growing."
Not unlike their rap sheet for actual crimes.
After I heard you being optimistic about Ahsoka in the last video, I knew there was going to be a video about your disappointment.
all flash and no substance? that would imply there was any light to constitute a flash.
Omg you basically read my mind like thanks. Now, my brain can rest in peace, knowing I am not the only one thinking all of this...
i used to get called a fake fan for not liking ashoka or dave…
How can we sleep when Star Wars is burning
That is why he acts so much more directly when he returns, not because he's on borrowed time (this isn't Babylon 5), but because the crucible point was drawing near, and his limiter no longer effected him
@@dark_fire_ice thank you very much for the explanation!
@@corruptangel6793 thank you for the explanation!!
I feel like I don't see it said enough that Ashoka's central problem is that none of the characters felt like their rebel counterparts at all, Ashoka included. You wouldn't guess that any of them had any kind of history with how underwhelmingly they interacted or even greeted each other
I love that you're using Eddie Izzard clips for this. ahahahahahah it's so fitting. lol
JJ mortally wounded Star Wars. Rian eagerly twisted the knife. Filoni repeatedly proves that he can’t possibly save it
I can’t see how anyone can think obi wan is worse than this.
Dude this is good stuff. The editing is hilarious.
Im loving all the star wars edits, so funny
@@corruptangel6793 Nightsisters show up in The Courtship of Princess Leia from 1994 and the 1998 Dark Horse Comics run as a tribe of Witches.

Felonis writing in Ashoka is some of the most pathetically contrived I've ever seen. At times stuff happened because the script said so. The most egregious example of this was when star destroyer turbolasers MISSED 3 space dogs at point blank range....because the script said so. Terrible.
And this was his “passion project”? What a joke.
He's just doing the mystery box but with extra steps!
Do it!
“A long time ago in a galaxy far far away…. well…. and in another galaxy what with the space whales….”
Is it just me or does Hera's animation accurate costume not work at all in live action ?
It's not just you.

I haven't even watched Ahsoka and even I'm aware if the show's stellar butt shots.
Every other appearance of her including in her own show is superfluous.
dont forget they turned sabine into a villain because she was willing to sacrifice the entire galaxy to reunite with her quasi friend she sees as a brother out of nowhere?
or when baylen talks about how ahsoka was the reasons sabine wasnt helping during the mandolore purge and yet sabine has little to no issues with ahsoka over the fact that if she was involved sabine could of likely saved her parents from dying lol... she should be furious with ahsoka and border line hates her for not letting her go.
how did ahsoka keep sabine from going to help her famile from the purge of mandalore? and why did sabine let her stop her?!?
lets also not forge the world between worlds is not only time travel with an extra step but possibly 2 things far worse than time travel!
Considering Sabine’s actions, I fail to see how she would Ezra as a “brother”. Obviously, she’s clearly in love with that guy if she was able to do something crazy like this at this magnitude.
