@@twmax6525 I liked chief Brody too. It is easy to identify with him as he is a family man. He showed courage and accept responsibility. It was ironic that someone scared of water and the least qualified of the 3 men on the boat was the one to kill the shark.
@@TheNotbadphonedaddy I'd argue FIVE way dance. The shark animatronic might have been one piece of work on set but the shark is an iconic villain. Plus it's the reason why this is a horror movie after all
Never get tired of the scene where he's making faces at Quint. By the way, when this movie was made, soda and beer cans were made of tin. So Quint's crushing of that beer can is actually pretty impressive.
NO No No You are so Wrong, WTF?? you are way over dating things...Somewhat Moronic of you Scrooge face... Go ahead, google the beer can that he crushed, but better yet.. Google Billy Beer and see what you come up with Dumbass.
Hooper is the most realistic and relatable character. Young intelligent college kid billionaire who has a passion for ocean science. The man just desperately wants to save people because he knows...he just knows but he’s too young and quick and hot to shoot off the mouth like a lot of us I think...just like most people in real life the mayor didn’t listen to literal reason.
Can we just say something about how tasteful and relevant the grafitti was at 1:57? If only our modern vandals were so interested in public service announcements.
I don’t know if you’re still going to respond to this, but a character that is basically Hooper from jaws called Richard Levine actually does meet with Ian Malcom in the 2nd Jurassic Park book by Micheal Crichton
The audience came to see a monster and stayed for the personality clashes. Brody is forced to be the balance between know-it-all Hooper and bully Quint, while fending off the officious mayor. Jaws is a classic because of great casting, realistic dialogue, and keeping the villain out of view until an hour and 40 minutes in, amping up the suspense. The mechanical shark kept breaking down in the water, so Steven Spielberg learned to make movies that focused on the people. Keep the monster way in the background.
His name was mentioned in Jaws 2 when Ellen was on the phone when Brody came in. She said it was a call from Matt Hooper. But he was in the Arctic circle and wouldn't be back in radio range until the next summer. And Brody said that he gave Hooper a call.
@@MNDHFilms Exactly. Like in the beginning the divers discovered Quints old sunken boat. I like when sequels reference original characters from the part before.
Matt's my favorite character. he has some funny moments but he's also very smart and can put up a good argument. (also he seems to hate quint and so do I)

to me, hooper in jaws ist just curt from american graffiti after his college years..it makes sense if it's the same character...i imagine that after leaving at the end of graffiti, he studied marine biology...also his scence with "mary ann moffat, she broke my heart" ... i think of that girl in the white thunderbird, with whom he was obsessed in graffiti ... the onyl thing that doesn't really fit into that is that he doesn't seems to be that rich boy in graffiti as he is in jaws... and of course, piranha 3d continues this theory :)
Before this movie I dont think lots of people knew much about sharks, and I think Hooper mentions it's unusual to find a great white in the waters of Amity
After the town heard of the first shark attack all there got to blame is them selves if they let there kids go swimming so soon 🤣 catching one shark doesn't mean shit I think it's comon knowledge where there is one shark usually means more but alot of people are ignorant
Hooper and Quint absolutely made the movie.
Chief Brody too, even as just a normal guy with a family.
This was a FOUR way dance
Roy Scheider
Richard Dreyfuss
Robert Shaw
Murray Hamilton
ALL brilliant

Great point
Hooper is the best character in this movie. "I won't have to take this abuse much longerrrr!"
He kind of sounds like Jim Carrey when he says that
😂
Hooper had some priceless moments. Why don't you take a long look at that sign, those proportions are correct."
No quint is!
“Ay ay sir! Arghhh!”
Hooper is one of the best characters ever. Jaws is so great not only because its a good horror movie but because it has great character development.
THANK YOU!
And John Williams awesome score!!
You said it perfectly

I remember the references to him being wealthy, but wasn’t aware he was billionaire status
@@frankdees507 I'm also not sure I'd describe him as a college kid
Do they say he’s a billionaire in the film?
@@MrSpud900 No it doesn’t so I don’t get where people are saying this from

I love all 3 leads in this film, but I think Hooper is my favourite.
No matter who or what Richard Drifus plays in movies, he is always the good old Matt Hooper to me.
I just found out he was the dude at the beginning of stand by me, if you’ve seen it. Didn’t recognise him at all.
He'll always be Dr. Leo Marvin to me
Roy Neary from close encounters of the thirdblind here but isn't he good though?
Every moment Hopper is on screen is the best cause he’s the best character from the movie
"The book is always better than the movie."
That saying was true, until Steven Spielberg (Hitchcock too) came along
Don't forget the director of The Mist, even Stephen King was envious of the ending.
The Godfather as a feature works out better than it did as a novel, and I happen to like the book.
The Shawshank Redemption as well. The movie was MUCH better than the novella.
In the book, Brody's wife is a real piece of work.
I would have made the mayor go out swimming, alone, into the bay and prove his point that no one was in any danger.
Hooper was my favorite character in a film with many great characters. Richard Dreyfuss gave an incredible performance.

"Ya got city hands Hoopah,ya been countin money all ur life"
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He doesn't need that he doesn't need that working class hero crap 😂
Hooper was the youngest person in the movie so that's why he's the only one still alive now. Very good actor.
Robert Shaw died way too early in the world's long ongoing time of post-JAWS fame
Lorraine Gary is still alive I believe.
Robert Shaw, Roy Scheider, Murray Hamilton all gone. R.I.P.
Dreyfuss is the only one laughing at the table now :(
Carcharodon carcharias, man the great white has the coolest scientific name
Boys! Oh Boys!!
I think hes come back for his noon feeding
I’d love to see Hooper and Ian Malcolm meet.
That's absolutely chaotic

I'd love for Quint to meet You!

Love when he makes faces🤣🤣😛💖
It sucks that hooper didn't return in any of the jaws sequels! =(

hooper in the movie is 10 times better than the original book hooper lol. still love his character regardless
Surprised that Brodie doesn't have any scars from being an NYC cop in the 70s. It was pretty rough back then.
He does, you see him lift his shirt and look at it. He simply doesn't bring it up to Hooper or Quint when they're comparing scars.
My favorite movie of All time!
The only thing we let breathe around here Mr Hooper is you😂😂😂
His autopsy analysis is scary af. Great scene
Nothing can compare to Richard Dreyfuss laugh when he knows he knows
3:57, it's so subtle. The dialogue is so natural.
