    Very good presentation. But ... very important things still need to be explained. You said that the GSA is bigger without saying why. And the answer is: because the suspension is different. The GSA suspension has a longer stroke and the steering column has a different angle. that's why the GSA is taller and, therefore, much more comfortable. And the GSA is also more comfortable because, being wider, it has greater aerodynamic protection. Regarding the greater weight of the GSA when compared to the GS, the real difference is almost nothing. The difference is in the amount of gasoline that you can put in the GSA (if you don't, it won't weigh more) and also in the weight of side bars and lights. If you put some side bars on the GS, the difference is almost none. That said, the weight difference between GSA and GS is almost non-existent. Last but not least, a big hug for everyone. And as we say in Portugal: have good curves. Ohhh, and don't forget to ... make life a ride 😀

      Go to a motorrad store and ask to sit on both bikes, in the low suspension version, and see what feels best.

    Good video, thank you. I recently bought a GSA and I’m very happy with my choice. I hesitated about getting a GSA because I’m 5’8” and my legs are relatively short, but with the optional low seat (approximately $500) it’s a piece of cake to ride it. The additional weight of the GSA is not an issue (i.e., one doesn’t feel it) unless you are pushing one (by hand) with a full tank - otherwise it’s comparable to the GS. Interestingly enough I found myself more at ease in low speed with the GSA!
    One important thing to considered is that a fully loaded GS (crash bars, luggage rack, top box, auxiliary light) can cost more than a GSA. My GSA was, on paper, 1,600 dollars less expensive than the GS with the packages that I wanted, and all ready to go. I thought the dealer I went to was pulling my leg but I checked with another one and... that was correct.
    A pity about the audio, but I’m sure it will get better in the next videos. Good job.

    I don't know about the US but in the UK it's makes more financial sense (to me) to get the GSA. If you get a GS by the time you've kitted it out with full crash bars, fog lights and a touring screen etc. You will have paid the same as you would have on a GSA out the box. Plus the GSA has better weather protection what with that massive frontal area.

    • @muzzabike1417
      @muzzabike1417 4 роки тому +4

      Stuart Law agreed. I recently bought a GSA and it was 1,600 dollars (I live in California) cheaper than a GS with an equivalent package (crash bars, luggage rack, fog lights, top box, nav, etc.). I was so shocked that I thought the dealer was playing a trick on me - by quickly checked that it was correct. People think the GSA is considerably more expensive because they compare the base prices - but fully loaded the GSA is a way better proposition.

    Why the GSA? Wind protection, range and looks. On my trips fuel is never a problem, but the GSA allows me to skip the expensive fuel stations. LOL Actually: I have a long commute and the GSA allows me to have to stop way less for fuel since I often have a 2 hour trip to one of my sites. At our motorway speed that trip can be a bit much on one tank for the GS.
    BTW: I am 5'6" and I have no problem with the size of the GSA.

    The flywheel on the GSA is heavier which imparts a bit more low end torque. Good summary from a GS rider.

      Only a motor can add torque. A flywheel can add only inertia. If you want to call that a reserve of torque then you have to admit the torque is consumed in an instant.

    Good video. I have a 1250 GSA after a 1200 GSA. LOVE THE 1250. The GSA is mandatory for a long trip in South America, or Africa because of gas availability. Also convenient for longer trips in North America. I rented a GS in Europe last summer with Vario Cases. I thought I packed light, but they were a pain. Did not carry much and hard to pack every day. The metal panniers are far superior. At the end of the day, I simply take the one soft bag out of each case to my hotel room. Easy and very convenient.

    Thanks for the reveiw and two awesome looking bikes. Some BMW buyers (like me) are very detailed and loves German Engineering (we want to understand every little future...helps me to justify why I bought our GSA :-)). Since I am now on my 3rd GSA (R1250GSA Kalamata and absolutely love the new bike and all the things that are better about it...) there are a few things I would like to add to your list and maybe ask you to check and comments on:
    1) The GSA(2270mm) is a little longer than the GS (2207mm) and yet the wheel base: GSA(1504mm) vs GS (1525mm) a little shorter which means the rake angle is slight different with longer shock,
    2) The brake pedal that folds down for when you are standing while riding off road and the adjustable gear lever (for riding with boots). Does the GS also have the adjustable gear lever standard?
    3) Better protection against the elements due to the "removable wind deflectors (left and right side of the cockpit that can be removed in summer months to allow air flow onto the rider) and the wider fuel tank (does make a difference in the cold and even in rain),
    4) Peak extender fitted to the front mudguard to prevent water/mud splashing up
    5) Yes the GSA is slightly higher and therefore has more suspension travel to handle offroad conditions (much heavier bike but managed to keep the loading capacity the same),
    6) The pillion seat is shaped a little different allowing you to stand up/slide/move on the GSA while riding,
    7) Additional protection (although plactic) on the centre stand to protect agains rocks from the back wheel eating up the paint and plastic fins covering the air opening on top of the mudguard,
    8) With the GS(only) the "Exclusive" offers you the black engine, black mag wheels and a "Comfort Seat" (spoke wheels option is extra) while the GSA comes standard with back engine and black spoke wheels.
    Question: I've heard (might be a myth) that the gear ration might be a little different on the GSA for low speed offroad riding, is that true?

    Why didn’t they come out with any new colors for 2020? Are the design people lazy or asleep at the wheel? I waited a year already guess I’ll have to wait another, if I don’t get a Ducati or Triumph first

    • @supersportsanthony
      @supersportsanthony  4 роки тому +2

      BMW isn't in the habit of changing color pallettes every year. The same people who wait for new colors are the same that don't like them when the new ones come out. Or vice versa. Can't make everyone happy! Paint it!

    • @supersportsanthony
      @supersportsanthony  4 роки тому +2

      Most triple black models surface towards the production end of the model. Seats and wheels can always be swapped out. Even on a kalamata GSA there are only two painted panels, so it's really not hard to paint black if that's what is truly holding you back from a purchase.

    Thank you for this! I was of the mind to get the GSA, because I didn't want to half step. Now that I know I can get the crash bars and the fog lights on the GS, it's just a matter of doing the math. The GSA I configured was $2475 more than the GS I configured. I need to calculate the costs of the parts and labor, to determine for sure if that's a better approach? I appreciate the food for thought.

      It's the route I went! Yes the GSA comes with those things, but is also more expensive. Check out company's like touratech, swmotech, and BMW's accessories catalog to price out heat works best for you. Denali and Clearwater are gest companies for fog lights, and also BMW's fog lights are a great option. Good luck!

    As someone who has just done back to back test rides on both… the biggest difference for me was first the handling the standard GS just turns in so much quicker… it’s effortless!!! Not that the GSA is bad by any stretch but for my style of riding the GS is better on those fast flip flop bends 👌🏼
    The other big difference is weather protection… it was 28° the day I took the bikes out and I kid you not on the GSA there was no wind!!! It was so warm… fantastic for winter 🥶 but when I then got straight on the GS the wind was a fantastic relief!!! So in an ideal world I would have a GS for summer and a GSA for winter!!! As it happens I ordered a 2021 GS Rallye which comes next week 😆 not excited at all 🤭 👍🏻

      Yes, I would recommend either taking one for a test ride or renting one for a day if you can. People often get caught up in measurements and seat heights, without actually sitting on a bike and seeing how it feels. I often find my 1250GSHP cumbersome at times due to it's height, but I am comfortable riding it even if I have to tip toe the bike at times. My recommendation, ditch the measurements, and see how it FEELS to you. Good luck!
