- We gotta sawzall and tack weld the “new” axle, mount the gorgeous new suspension, grease pack the bearings, assemble the Big Daddy brakes… the To Do List never stops growing! Also all work stops when WRC rally driver Kris Meeke pops in, but at least everyone was talking shop!

Fun to see Scotto combining German and Japanese. Even better that he's actually working on something 😂 🍻
Now he just needs to put on some Italian wheels and he'll have the full combo
@@cathat9622 Axis86.
@@toxicmasculinity7870 but it has an American rear end.
@@cathat9622 I did see one of these with Ferrari wheels on before so there's a chance
Lmao
With as much as Jameson helps build all the Gymkhana cars, I feel like they should all jump in and help him build a car, I would love to see a Jameson car build.
One thing I've noticed and love about Scotto's vids is that he frequently has a hands-on show & share bit and actually teaches something, like with packing those bearings today. Fun stuff!
This is such a fun series to watch. That last shot gave me major nostalgia. I owned a 92 GLI when I was younger and I miss it pretty often. Seeing that 16v brought back a lot of good memories of canyon drives. The VR6 will rip and I can't wait to hear it, but if it doesn't fit and you go with the 16v, you know at least one person won't be mad about it. Idk anything about the powerband or how well suited it would be for a grid car, but doing ITB's instead of a turbo seems fitting for the 16v.
I noticed the 16 valve right away. I had an 89 Helios GLI, i put a 2l 16v in it annd it ripped.
MKII 4LIFE 🙂
To me this type of series is the backbone of what Hoonigan is. Taking regular cars and making them special, driving them, driving them hard and enjoying life. Shredding the lot, build bios, and all the random stuff is great, but at the end of the day it's just us and our cars and what we do to them to stand out. Not all of us have the luxury of using a large shop, having a crew and sponsors, but see what can be done is always inspiring and something to work towards for us common folk.
How fricken awesome it is to see Scotto putting in the time. Finishing this build is going to be crazy bragging rights. I'm not a VW guy but..... Those VR6s have some crazy potential.
Scotto comes up with some of the coolest stuff I swear, him actually getting a car built makes the world a better place. Keep it up man! We’re cheering for you
I think you mean Scotto way over complicates. That's why 97% of his projects never get finishes!
I love what Scotto is doing it. Very UK/European
After so many years following I know this is the ultimate joy for Scotto, the reason he won’t “just get someone” to fix his cars is that he loves troubleshooting and fixing, he’s got a lifetime of vehicles to chase gremlins and successes. Play on playa, this VR86 will scream 🎉
That’s what I miss the most out of you guys is the most simple yet important lesson on small things like bearings. Love to see you guys 💙💙#43
Videos like this are what got me so into Hoonigan. I was thoroughly entertained but also learned new things. Appreciate the "teaching session." I love when those shots are included! Great content.
Hell yeah, loving this series.
Really motivates me to get my car done sooner.
Working on a uneven driveway has been the biggest disincentive ever.
WHAT! Kris Meeke? This is a HUGE surprise, guy is a tremendous driver
keep it strong. This one is my favorite build on YT right know. The two thing i love the most, german and japanese engeniring combined. This is the combo we all needed. Congrats to the whole Hoonigan team. Keep making dreams come thru
Why do I feel like this is the most amount of work I've seen Scotto do on any car since the start of the channel and it's only been a couple episodes. LOL
Those caster rods blew my mind, really inspired me to go all out with my car, truly impressive 👏🏼 🙌🏼
I like when Scott's project go past removing 1 rusty bolt lol
Scotto's creativity never ceases to amaze me! His dedication to building cars truly makes the world a more exciting place. Keep pushing the boundaries, Scotto! We're all rooting for you and eagerly anticipating your next incredible creation. 👏🚗🔥
Kris Meeke's reaction to Scotto's love for German stuff is how I've always felt about VW's lol
Which is funny to me since he spent most of his career driving French cars which have a far worse reputation than German cars. (Even though France is undoubtedly the king's of WRC)
Scotto this is by far my pick of all the builds with that engine and all the drive line gear that thing will be unstoppable if its to deep dry sump it keep it coming hanging out for more content✔✔✔💯💯👍👍👍👍
loving all this new content guys! please keep this up :)
Proud to see Scotto get this far congrats 😂
Don't have anything that T3 makes parts for but i've always admired the quality!
I just watched a giant man pack bearings and I loved it. Great build series y'all.
When he stuck his finger in the rotor was the best part of the video😂😂😂😂😂
That is a really nice kit it is beautiful you do beautiful work biker showing us and not skipping a lot of things I like you guys doing more work and explaining and set it more talking
The bearing packing tip- that's g/d good advice, no lie. Thanks
I love Brian's build especially cool engine swap
I was surprised when Scotto mentioned using a panhard bar rather than a watts link. Watts link is pricier but better and a huge advantage of the 8.8 is the aftermarket selection of WLs
Scotto just made an entire generation proud by teaching people how to pack a bearing.
Love seeing scotto working on his cars, hole to see more napalm nova stuff in the future 👀
Best way I have ever seen to pack grease in a bearing is in a vacuum bag. You just glob grease on top and set it in the bag. The bag shrinks and squeezes the grease perfectly.
Also a good way to have spares ready to go as they are preserved in the bag
Little "scotto how do I pack bearings?" was great vibes
A video with a racing alignment setup pro, testing and talking suspension adjustment theory would be super cool.
Might want to consider welding and reinforcing the front strut towers, since you'll be beating on it with probably something like 50-75% more spring rate.
Perfect timing..... Just starting work..... At my desk with my PC and Scotto.....
Time stealer... get to work..
Techno Tuning is the shit saved my car many times
Scotto episodes are my favorite
No Way....... Chris Meeke !?!?!?!?! Woowee fellas, way to level up.
love this build always looking for the next episode!
Cant wait til this is running!
Also get yourself a bearing packer. Much less mess and not expensive
Love the Frankenstein type build. As long as it works👌🏽🤟🏾
Chris is a legend! So happy to see rally guys on the channel
Great video, so glad the project cars are back!
Can't wait to see a finished setup
Love this series, keep it coming!
Good job with the bearings I’ve seen so many people do that wrong
1.49 - As a 'plastic paddy' I've been using a tape measure since I could count.
If you measure from the m,iddle the length does not matter. Place a center-line CL and get all the numbers from that datum.
21:59 - should those rotors be installed the other way? slotted rotors you want to rotate the other way iirc
Seeing scotto actually build a car... lol love it
These are really nice parts! It's almost like Scotto wants to build a racecar... 😜😁😇
I love that Scotto is builidng a car but it feels like Vin and Ron will be doing donuts meanwhile Brian will be making brackets for brake lines
I love this channel guys. Please keep this going. 🎉
SCOTTOOOOOO MUCH LOVE BROTHER YOU PICKED OUT THE A GREAT COMPACT UNIT FOR YOUR PROJECT .TEAM SCOTT-YOTA
Great to see Kris Meeke!
Hopefully we’ll see the diesel Land Rover D2 come back at some point :). I always wanted to see that one finished too…
Luv the sound of a VR6 powered Hachi! The only thing that’ll make this build better is if it was a 5cyl turbo Hachi that’s Quattro
Please try and bring some sort of gymkhana grid to Canada! We are behind!!!
Can’t wait to see the six episodes it takes for you to “Dial it in”
Great engine choice. Going to sound very different in a good way...
Editors killed it
They have bearing packing tools where you sandwich the bearing and attach a grease gun to the threads of the tool and pump away
Kris also won 2 Rallies here in Barbados
I love seeing Scotto getting the chance to work on his cars rather than having to do all the head Hoonigan things behind the scenes.
I love it most out of the 3, hands down.
Scotto will have to hire a team to run his car =P
It’s cooI that get to see this because my ae86 1JZ swap is also getting a 8.8 😅 as I’m watching this video
Kris and I are from the same hometown!
Need to go turbo! Everything else is sick.
Great episode! Parts look fantastic!
Scotto when you do measurements da you use metric or imperial? 16V is 9A? 🙂
Shouldn't there be safety wire on the bolts that mount the rotor to the hub?
Is the stock suspension still up for grabs???
If the vr6 doesnt fit. Grab a volvo 5cyl, they can be shoehorned into a golf.
Failing that. 1.820VT
Chris is a beast !!!!!!!!!!
Good job Brian! Looking good, keep it up.
Yes Sawzall away from yourself I learned the hard way and took it to the cheek luckily missing my nose eyes and mouth left a good hole in the face blade was hot enough tho to coterize the cut as it went in haha
Where's Suppy & Grim at ?! Been awhile we had not heard of them🤔..
Really fun to watch these builds.
My question is why Scotto is beefing this ae86 up like a drag car, but putting a less than 300whp vr6 in it? No turbos? Nitros with a high CR? I'm lost.
shoutout to the editor that added the clip at 1:45, that kid is fucking hysterical
KRIS MEEKE OUT OF NOWHERE NO WAY
Was Chris on that top Gear episode where he took a Bentley across a rally cross cause?
Great video!! Keep up the great work!
Super nice components.
Digging the montage music also great content as usual!
So is the axle not getting narrowed up I take it by it all being burned in? Lol Lovin the series but I was so confused
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension!
Brian, my faith in you is restored. I thought you were some kind of Audi only head case.
How much do you want for the straw assembly and caliper rotors and hub I would have to know how much the shipping is I live on the other side of the country in New York We can't find that here everything is rusted out here😢 I've been waiting for videos like this. I love my toyotas.
Scotto, that VR6 Engine is screaming for a Supercharger. You just know the minute you drive it your going to regret going N/A!! OR your a Yellow Belly and scared of too much power. LMFCO. PS. Loving the build.
Gotta love the German Cars!!!!
Why are you putting that old truck axle in? And how will you get 300hp from a VR ?
Will scotto ever finish a build, find out next time on garage garage
S10 and colorados used hub / rotors like that.
You guys needs to use a steady camera set up if you are going to walk around with it. It is hard to watch the camera shake that much and swing from product to people then back to product. If you are trying to binge a couple episodes at a time, it is such a relief when you use the camera on a stick.
Its Big Boo Tay! Jon Big Boo Tayt!
Why is that random Arizona can in the driver side wheel well??
Yall need a bearing packer
Scotto, did you safety wire the rotors/hats? I couldn’t tell…
Scotto! What’s the situation on the 944! Hit me up, I’m local and dumb
Get some metric tape measures for your import builds. Measurements will be easier and more precise.
You are not wrong.
@@HooniganProjectGarage 🤣 you can see it in Scotto’s face trying to do fractions. Using an imperial tape measure for a Japanese car suspension is like converting the Bible to Klingon. Sure you could do it, but it won’t be perfect and you’re going to get a headache 🤕
@@HooniganProjectGarage respect on the build tho. Honestly my fav Scotto car so far. Cram that vr6 in! Get some of the boys to jump up and down on it till it fits 🤣
Definitely can use that stock suspension
