They said in the Keynote that they will look to work with other AI systems in the future. They are not just locked to Chat GPT. They also said they chose them first because they were the best right now. With all that said, they will keep it open line the search engines. They most likely will build their own like maps, but even then, they will keep it open to others. At that point, the others will have to pay Apple and Google just to stay relevant.

It is basically a cheap customizable desktop PC with an AMD graphic card that can run Mac OS. Will Apple let the genie out of the bottle and develop Nvidia drivers? Highly doubt Microsoft with allow iPhone to use Copilot, and that Google will give us Gemini to use on IOS on devices. Plus, most people wouldn’t know how to choose if they were given the option

@@Aggie4life77 Apple private cloud is their Server side AI model, their LLM - it most likely will never be as good as a frontier model but will give the customer more personalized compute than they can get on their phone. - its like having a phone with more processing and memory - when the server side of Apple AI cant help you then it will reach out to third party AI’s - interestingly by calling out to third parties as needed it removed the need for you to install llama (meta) or openAI on your computer - giving you even more privacy.
I saw a recap and updated program on 60 minutes last night(Sun, June 23) that showed how the US wouldn’t sign a treaty that would have allowed the US to mine various minerals etc., on the ocean floor, that are used in tech and manufacturing many technology products and batteries etc. Apparently the US didn’t sign the treaty based on some republican senators objections, despite the military and other leaders advocating that the US should sign it. As a result, China is busier than a bee pulling every mineral out of the sea floor that they can get. This leaves the US in an extremely vulnerable position, left behind, it was also stated that this will also help Chinese military with strategic planning because they are learning and developing technologies and techniques that will help them locate under water submarines etc., and give them an advantage in underwater capabilities and combat strategies if a war breaks out. Considering how disfunctional the current Congress is, it’s not surprising but what is surprising and mind blowing is this missed opportunity that is essential to the US military, economy, and future success of America, was wasted, putting the US further behind China, and perilously vulnerable.
I'm wondering what happens when political groups deems the AI to be giving "fake news"? What happens when people ask AI a question and they see the answer given as false? Do we get a right wing and left wing AI that lies by ommition or just lies to fit a narrative?
You guys sound like you haven't talked to any of the programmers making these learning machines. The machines are already aware of the differing opinions on any topic, know that .edu sources are more respected, are being told that others are not reliable, and so forth, so they can make a best guess as to what the truth might be. Programmers are constantly working at this and have long since grappled with any pitfalls that might occur to you or me. My problem with it all has to do with the prohibitions and values that are being baked in, as with the instruction that minorities have to be included in equal numbers in photos of doctors, for example. This was reported widely and doesn't specifically upset me; it's the general idea that the machines are all being programmed with censorship baked in. That is my fear.
I hope Apple will decide to allow users to choose the AI agent they want to use just like they allow you to choose search engines.
