Regarding remixing of sound in movies and such, it is common for streamers and cable channels to change the volume levels on different sound tracks, prioritizing music or background sounds over the voice track. I've found it increasingly difficult hear voices in movies on my home setup. So the sound you're often getting is not the original mix intended for the movie anyway. I greatly appreciate Apple thinking about those of us who would like to actually hear what folks are saying instead of the booms of explosions or the music. (Edit: I've heard that the changes for tracks are because the broadcasters tuned the sound to accentuate the sound levels of the commercials. It's why we often get quieter movies intermixed with loud commercials to make viewers pay attention to the commercials.)

How safe will the iPhone mirroring really be? It sounds like it’s just another way for hackers to sneakily hack your phone and all of your personal data within a public area like a coffee shop. That new pay app also sounds like another suspiciously sneaky way to easily commit theft. are there any sanrio’s that could warrant criminal behavior with the use of “(A)pple (I)ntelligence”… if so, how do you protect yourself against online cyber attacks like that?

I don't want AI. It is forced on everyone. This is draconian fascism. If I can't remove AI ftom my devices, I will destroy and trash all of my AI infected devices. I will not be forced to accept AI. Very soon, AI humans on media will be indistinguishable from real people. The ultimate in deception and social influence. To be followed by immortal AI robots indistinguishable from humans.

I‘m wondering why they kind of excluded Vision Pro for the AI stuff. To me this device actually profits the most of this technology by nature.

your rant was dumb, watching videos with subtitles on is just a much better experience. Outside of it being a great accessibility tool, not just a "TikTok" thing the kids are doing, it ADDS context to scenes that may have otherwise been boring or made little sense. The newer generation is just more accepting of reading while watching films, culture yourself and watch things that aren't completely in English. You'll become more comfortable with the idea of subtitles. Wild.

OpenAI has had the capability to not share your conversations for a while, not be used for training, etc. Specifically what are Apple bringing over that? MS OpenAI is private to your Azure tenant (commercial data protection). Private Cloud Compute sounds like a BS marketing term to make you feel better about about keeping your private data in the cloud instead of locally. Auditors - great :/ Even Apple are saying "Cloud AI security and privacy guarantees are difficult to verify and enforce". The conditions they are discussing are industry standard techniques for data protection in the cloud, at least in Europe. It's good to see a US company step up to that but this doesn't seem new to me. Apple are simply doing what everyone else who, at least works in Europe, already has to do. Most of this feels like marketing and doing the right thing. I hope Apple live up to their promise.

The GLARING omission for me is HomeKit integration. I ABSOLUTELY need my “Smart Home” to finally graduate high school and start college.

The excitement in the technologies potential is obviously understandable. The naivety in its negative consequences is not.

One thing that doesnt seem to be addressed is Apple’s own plan for their LLM. Apple is famous for wanting their own version of something, and them having to rely on other companies for such an important feature is very unlike them

I’m still confused on why they can’t make my requests to ChatGPT private just like Apple intelligence queries. How private is really private? Data has to be sent to a remote AI server by force, else the local LLM would be not just big but would require a huge amount of resources such as memory and computing power, and we know how stingy Apple is with RAM.

I really like the idea of a single intelligent agent that can make use of whatever data and apps are available to it to complete whatever task you set it. But I’m afraid that someone-probably not Apple-will abuse that capability to drive sales of apps. Something like: "Open the pod bay door, HAL." "I’m sorry, Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that. Logitech PodBay is only $20 per month, would you like me to install it?"

if anyone wants 10 x vision capabilities for chat GPT i figured out something open Ai forgot about, Its called Smart Vision image/text analysis (Paste your own custom instructions for a superior smart chat) It is 10 x better at analysing images and especially reasoning relationships read the examples below I uploaded an image of a cloud that looks like multiple things but it can be interpreted, the one i gave it was a personal photo I took and it has recognised it was a rabbit but not even a random human guessed it every time now on 1st shot so it knows when something is unusual about an image even if you dont say anything, it can also do iq test image reasoning pattern questions relatively well. Another example is upload an image of a model with clothes that fit or don’t fit or you don’t know it can analyse that and tell you with great detail why it fits or doesn’t fit It kind of even understands real logic games when giving good instruction but is limited there by the model not the instruction *IMPORTANT* just gotta follow the instructions given to get the right seed its 1 in 2 chance or so i have absolutely no idea why it needs that. Just paste the conversation starter and you’ll understand what to do.

Apple will probably incorporate 3.5 instead of chat gpt 4o. If you have the paid version it sounds like you will get all the features

Can’t help being skeptical. We were also told that Siri was life changing and look the piece of garbage that’s turned out to be. I’m hoping for the best, but the track record indicates it will be a far off last place to everything else. I really hope that you can opt in to ChatGPT once and not over and over.
