Yes it is and yes it has, its a new system they have made specially for this game, The next one goes back to the tried and true method we know and love. i guess you could consider Nelke more of a spin off style of game.

Atelier games in general tend to change systems a lot between games. Atelier Rorona is different from Atelier Ayesha, which is different from Escha & Logy, which is different from Sophie...
But this is a spin-off, so the combat is even more different than usual.
