FF IX released almost 25 years ago. Now I really do feel old!
BOTH it and the PS4 remaster run really SLOWLY in fact on the PS4 remaster without the 3x speed cheat on the game is just as IMHO UNPLAYABLE as the PS1 version and on the PS1 version Auto haste still didn't make you ATTACK faster then the normal enemies which is why even it sucks.

FF9 will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first FF game that I finished. I honestly thought this was toast with the rough year Square just reported. Assumed this would be cancelled. I really hope this still comes out!
Squares makes so much money 140 million isn't allot to them
@@zacatkinson3926 140 million is A LOT to anyone especially major video game developers/publishers who rely on investments and financing to finance their games. Investors want returns on their investment. That's the entire logic behind there being a legal requirement requiring Square Enix to give a heads up to the public in terms of 140 million dollars worth of cashflow mysteriously vanishing in the near future.
To be honest this one has more of a chance of being made. The big thing that came out of that report was that Square was getting screwed over by casting TOO WIDE a net with indie titles and Double A titles that werent selling, instead of relying on their bread and butter tried and true flagship franchises. All in all the FF series is probably why Square didnt lose MORE money.
I just want the card system to lead to some unique rewards to make it worth it as I found it fun
I wish we could have gotten a remake of 8 it’s one of my favorites along with 12 I know most love 9 tho so I get it I’m not really a fan of 9 myself tbh tho

Fingers crossed that this makes it to a full release. Im hoping its mostly the same, just extra content. Give us Beatrix and Lani, and even post game stuff with Kuja as well. Some rebalancing would be great. We either need multi-hit stuff or trance moves breaking the damage cap. And PLEASE LEAVE NECRON THE WAY HE IS. So tired of people missing the point and saying he should've been foreshadowed.
Seeing Necron with little to no warning was insane! It makes the music and the tone of the fight that much better for me!
Been in camp huffing copium since day 1, really hope they still go through with it in the end.
Another small thing that can be refered to ff9 is the fact 1 of the cities in Dawntrail is named after one of Zidane's Dyne abilities, plus the Viper class uses both his ingame weapons aswell.
Dawntrail supposedly has massive references towards FF9. Might even see the Qu added. Imagine a frog drop ability for Blue Mages strengthened by collecting frogs around the world.

I’m think most likely it will be more of a remake like Super Mario RPG. Maybe add voice acting, but it will be a major graphical overhaul with minor mechanics added but basically the entire game will be untouched.

I would like this, if they also expanded on Freya and Amarant, their stories felt a little lacking in the base game
I'd love for "the same but more". Like the fights with the other elemental guardians, more on Amarant and Freya, more super bosses, etc.
Like re1 remake is to re1 if they hopefully do that, it will be one of the gold standards of remakes
The remake series is incredible. Absolutely incredible.
I'd totally be down for an FF9 Remake. I probably don't want them to go out of their way to change things up like in FF7 Remake, but give us full 3D environment, flesh out some of the lore, mechanics, and maybe spruce up the side quests a little. Also keep the game's art style -- I kind of wish they hadn't adopted a pseudo-realistic style for FF7 Remake. Oh, and make it multi-platform. I don't want to have to buy a console just to play a single game.

One game might not do it justice, so much would have to be cut. A good game is a good game, whether it's 1 part or 3. I'm eternally grateful we've got 7 in 3 parts.

Wouldn't look too far into the FFXIV/IX stuff. We already know that a new zone in Dawntrail, "Solution Nine" (already a FF9 reference), that was only very briefly teased.. was picked apart by internet sleuths and it's looking like its going to be something akin to Tribal/Iifa Tree/Soul related shenanigans going on. However i do want to believe he was teasing a FF9 remaster/make,! :(

Also remember that we got crystal chronicles remastered a couple years ago, and that game uses monsters from final fantasy 9

Realistically, I see an announcement for a Rebirth “intermission” style game…maybe something that follows Cid and/or Vincent. Between that and the 3rd part of the game, the only thing I could see happening is a graphic overhaul. Maybe some new side quests

I believe it, primarily because of the animated series. If it is a thing, i would reckon it would be 2025 / 2026. I reckon 2027 will be 7 part 3. Release date will be 30th anniversary of OG. I'm guessing 31/01/2027 for the global release. It's the final part so they would have to release it on a date of significance to come full-circle.
I hope if this is true that the release it on all platforms.

With how popular FFXIV is, I think Dawntrail makes for the perfect teaser before officially announcing a remake. I was iffy but hopeful, but the more FFIX references we got, along with Yoshi-P’s cryptic statement, I’m a lot more confident that’s what’s going on. FFXIV has always been THE reference game, constantly paying homage to the classics, but they’re going out of their way to draw attention to IX. They want us to be on high alert.
I never played 9 so i guess ill take it, i just want a ffx remake or ffx-3 id be happy with either
10 might see a remake because it made SE a LOT of money but......13 will never see a remake or prolly even rrmaster release. It was a huge failure for the studio, almost made Square bankrupt
@BladedTales SE is obviously going a route of remaking their most popular FF titles. I.e. FF7, 6, 9 and 10
I'm off the camp that it will happen, but if it is an extra mile project I hope that comes down to adding material intended for the original development to enhance the story, not take it in a while different direction

there was an FFT remaster on the nvidea leak, we've just had nothing else about it so it doesnt get talked about as much
Project Memoria really got my hopes up for a 9 remake, their work is absolutely immaculate and gave me so much nostalgia.
I don't think Squeenix would try the Remake/Rebirth approach with 9, the game is very self contained unlike 7 with all it's extra media supplements, though it's not 100% impossible they would try. I'm sure they know the negative feedback 7R has gotten, and surely they wouldn't attempt a second canon rewrite that could end up disastrously... right?
Slight graphic buff, remastered soundtrack, maybe a voiceover pass, and I'd call it perfect. Job done! 😊

I've seen and heard rumours about ff9 wouldn't it be awesome for them to remake ff9 such a underrated game but one of my favourite ff games. Even a remaster of the og wouid be great ti start with. Im hyped 👍 how's your feelings on this news primal your personal feelings?
I wish they expanded world a bit adding side quests and expanding some character lore like they did with Barret in FF7Remake.
I would be excited for a remake but as someone who’s only just started playing Final Fantasy games i really hope it’s not turn based combat but i could understand if it was. The fans of the original I’m sure would prefer it but it’s not my thing.
I’m a believer and even if it doesn’t happen I’m alright with it. I’m thinking it will be in between a remaster and a remake. I can see them changing the graphics to be much better but not on the level of VII R and maybe do some tweaks to the ATB system and make it faster and hopefully fix trance and some other QoL.

FF9 is the one mainline game I've never finished, so if they do a remake I'll probably give it a try again
The only thing about combat that I feel should be improved is have a choice of when to go into Trance instead of it being automatic. Please keep the ATB combat instead of going to action!
The FF14 new job Viper is twin swords that connect together. Calling it now, the state where the character glows and does other attacks will be called "Trance" lol

pretty sure that all the 9 references are just like how there were a lot of 3 references in shadowbringers with the crystal tower and what not and warriors of darkness and etc and with ff4 and endwalker since one of the new areas in dawntrail is gonna be called solution 9 which is the same as a zidane attack i mean it could also just be a coincidence that the 9 remake is real too

Knowing square Enix, it'll likely be some FF9 spinoff mobile games. Maybe the card game or loosely related chocobo digging game.
I've played every English version I could find (Original PSX, PSX Emulator, PC + Moguri Mod, etc.) and spent over 1000 hours on this game. If something new gets released, I'm there.

Sadly, I'll believe this when I see it. Next year would make a lot of sense, it's the 25th, and any later than that and it starts stealing some of Remake Part 3's thunder which I think they'll be reluctant to do.

@@LordMalice6d9 Yes that would feel like a very logical split to me. Although I don't really like the second half of the game as much as the first part it's a fantastic game.
It'll probably be a FF9 raid or event. They'll give Zidane's ultimate weapon as a glamour from completing it since the new job is basically Zidane.
Square also announced they took 100+ million in losses canceling various projects recently. I would reckon this game will be one of them.

Ff9 is my birth game, I’m barely younger than the game by a few months and it is my favorite game that has changed me deeply… when the nividia leak happened I started freaking out in bliss at the possibility of it being real just because of remake being in there. If ff9 got a remake it would be a massive dream come true like no other, I believe fully that this will come to be true since day one and still saying so… fucking yoshi p teasing us like that, you already stole my money with dawntrail collectors now this tweet lol
Well, with how Dawntrail in FFXIV is setup, I'm not that surprised with this potential announcement. Dawntrail has a lot of FFIX callbacks with it, in a way, this is their teaser announcement for the project.

FF7R is such a kick in the nuts to me. If only they had at least given us a normal remaster the way 8 and 9 got in addition to the remake. They are such extremely different games its hard to accept arguments about a remaster diminishing interest in the remake.

honestly it wouldn't make sense for it to be teased so much just to have the treatment of the remaster. I do think its gonna be more, but not in a way VII got, on a smaller scale.

They've already shown you what the FF9 Remake will look like. And its Crisis Core Reunion. A perfect middle ground between a Remake and a remaster.

I would love an FFIX remake with the graphics of the FFVII Remake trilogy, but an old-fashioned combat system - either the same ATB we have in the original, or a turn-based system (I personally am a great fan of the turn-based combat in Octopath Traveler). They could add action combat in a few places where it makes sense, for example during the Festival of the Hunt or the battles in the Treno weapon shop (I know, I'm sniffing a lot of copium here).
Also, a remake needs to do something with Trance, it's by far the shittiest set of limit breaks we've ever had in any FF. From a lore standpoint, giving us control about when to activate it wouldn't make too much sense, but at least don't consume the entire bar when you enter Trance and then the battle ends.
Also can we keep it Turn based please!!!
It has a shout as being the best FF game. I will always pine for 6, and 7 has the better characters across the whole game, but 9 feels like the most consistent and focused game

Some folks are gonna hate me for saying this, but I hope that FFIX gets a far more polished Trials of Mana treatment. I enjoyed the Trials remaster myself, but with regard to FFIX I think it wouldn't be too far off of a fit aesthetically. Far less whimsical of course, but that chibi-esque feel is what I am getting at.
I hope it does get the Final Fantasy seven remake treatment. For sure.

maybe people should just wait and see for the official announcement instead of getting too excited, just to be disappointed on something that may not even be existing, because “leaks” and “rumors”.
I'm all for ff9 & just hope all the hard annoying hardest trophies/achievements do make it in the ff9 remake.

Nah, no jump rope. Or if they make it an achievement, set it to 100 instead. Then focus on trophies that are hard in a different way. Something like defeat Ozma in (x) turns or less.

as someone in camp 3, kinda hopeful for it while also terrified they're gonna fck with the story like FF7:R i am thinking the chances of them fcking with the story is far less. mainly because there is SO MUCH LESS CONTENT. like not FF9 compared to FF7 games themselves, but FF7 also has all the spin offs, a movie etc etc so there is less likely to be a "reason" to fck with anything.... i hope.... oh dear god i hope they dont fck with it. just.... fix trancing and make the card game like mind breaking. please.... thats all the changes you need to do and i'll be happy.... please....
