Well Watch Mojo is a pretty white channel. I knew the list was gonna be fucked up when I saw Run and Tell That was #10. I noticed this channel is not a big fan of black ppl.
Those are my two favorite songs plus You Can’t Stop The Beat. Ms Mojo is wrong as usual. Just for the record, I am a white female senior citizen. But I know good music when I hear it.
The blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice I could say it ain't so, but darlin', what's the use? The darker the chocolate, the richer the taste And that's where it's at Now baby, run and tell that
Today, July 20,2017 marks Hairsprays 10 year anniversary. Since that film we have evolved so much, Interracial marriage is more accepted, black and white people are much more United and plus size people are more confident. Hairspray is truly a film that will last through history. Much like the last song, we've done so far, but we've got so far to go till we're truly equal
RockyHorror Gleek I love your name sooo much❤️touch-a touch-a touch me and sweet transvestite are my favorite songs from Glee's version of rocky horror
Big Blonde and Beautiful may have more "spunk", but "I Know Where I've Been" is a beautiful song and Queen Latifah does it justice wonderfully and shouldn't have been left out.
Personally I think "You're timeless to me" is kind of boring and should be an honorable mention. "I know where I've been" Should be on here. It's too bad though that "Mamma I'm a big girl now" was only in the end credits because it's a nice song that includes Penny and Amber.
I agree but I think that you’re timeless to me is got a very heart touching meaning and think that it’s very underrated but so is welcome to the sixtys
Hairspray is my favorite film ever. You Can't Stop the Beat, I Can Hear The Bells, Big Blonde and Beautiful(and it's reprise) Good Morning Baltimore, Come So Far, Without Love and Welcome to the Sixties are my fav songs ever and have such a nice message
Personally I have always been torn between "Without Love" and "You Can't Stop the Beat" being my personal number ones. My personal top ten would be way different.
I know where I've been is by far the best hairspray song and I have no idea how it didn't even get a honorable mention it's full of emotion and sends a strong message of over coming challenges and integration society should've been #1
people loved Jennifer Hudson singing I know where I've been, but I liked Queen latifah's version better. Sometimes less is more to me and without all the runs and high notes the song sounded so much better. That's just how I feel but I respect someone else's opinion as well :)
Charnice LaGrone honestly I really disliked jennifer hudsons version- not only just in I know where I've been but in the whole role. Maybe it was a bad day for her but I think Queen Latifah is 100x better in this particular role
Have you seen the video where they sing it together? It's pretty awesome. Grant it I love Queen Latifah on her own singing it, but the two of them together is also great.
I find it racist that the most important song of the movie that describe the movement of the movie was not mentioned and it was song by black person that was strong and independent trying to change the world or at least make things better for people black people
I LOVE HAIRSPRAY!!!! I used to be so obssesed with this movie when it came out 10 years ago! I just loved it! It always made me smile! Since today is Hairspray ' s 10th Anniversary, I'm watching the 2007 movie today! Happy 10th Anniversary Hairspray!
@@rhodopisdenile8977 I believe what they meant by white was white-washed... as in disregarding/putting down the African American contribution of the movie
@@kendylarcher2444 i don't think that's what it was. It just wasn't a good song, in their opinion. I personally loved I Know Where I've Been, but they didn't
I always have my heart dancing with Good Morning Baltimore, Welcome to the 60s and New girl in town. But I can not hold my tears everytime I listen to You can't stop the beat. Don't even know why.
I knew I loved the show just as the Good Morning Baltimore scene played. The scene of Tracy riding a garbage truck to school I LOL'ed so hard in the theater.
The fact that you left out the most impactful and meaningful song because it lacks spunk is utter garbage. 1st or not I know where I've been deserves a spot on the list
Am i the only one whose favourite is nicest kids in town? I’ve been scrolling through the comments for ages and haven’t seen a single person mention it! It’s just such a bop

This movie is definitely underrated. It’s brilliant- the songs are catchy and there is a great cast behind the movie. I would have put I Can Hear The Bells higher on the list.

No, I know where you've been?! It could have at least got an honorable mention! It's far better than Big, Blonde, and Beautiful! I don't get this channel sometimes! :(
"I Know Where I've Been" and "The New Girl in Town" should have both been on this list. They are two of the most poignant and powerful songs in the musical.
*MY FAVORITES:* "You Can't Stop the Beat" "Run and Tell That" "(The Legend of) Miss Baltimore Crabs" "Without Love" "The Nicest Kids in Town" "It Takes Two" "Big Blonde Beautiful" "The New Girl in Town" "I Can Hear the Bells" "I Know Where I've Been" "Ladies' Choice" "Welcome to the '60s" "Good Morning Baltimore"
welcome to the sixties was the first song I heard from hairspray because we had to dance to it on the last day of performing arts before the summer holidays.
Guys this movie changed my life it was so upbeat and positive, songs, characters, and story are all so good I remember the date I saw it and Im now working in theatre hoping to put work on this production one day
Am I the only one who thinks that "Ladies Choice" should at least be at #2 and not an honorable mention. That's my favorite song in the movie. WHERE IS I KNOW WHERE I'VE BEEN! I am playing Motormouth in Hairspray Jr. and it is easily the most beautiful and best song in the entire show/movie!!!

As soon as I saw "Run And Tell That" was #10... I couldn't take this list seriously, lol. That's definitely Top 3.
briatthedisco For sure!
OMG HELLOO!!! I love you!
briatthedisco that’s the best bro
For real
Thank you. That was disrespectful to put it at #10
this movie is pure musical gold and such an underrated gem. one of my fave movies of all time and im not ashamed of it.
agree, but not really underrated
Agreed
Diego Alexandrino it is not underrated

You know a musical is damn special when you can argue over a top-ten list of its songs.
Yup
I can't be the only one who loves New girl in town
Marcelino Vazquez Hey look out for that moving van driving down the street!
one of my favorite hairspray songs!
Magic_The _Cat12 look out look out look out
You better lock up your man before he meets 😂😂one of my favorites in that movie
Marcelino Vazquez meeeeeee
Two errors with this list..
1. Run and tell that being #10 and not in the top 5
2. I know where I've been not being in this list at all!!
D'Aujah Marie l KNOW THOSE ARE MY FAVORITE SONGS
This was exactly my thought!

Khryssi05 right
Khryssi05 IKR
Like #1
Ikr timeless to me was higher than it🙄
at least top 3! (the overall song is like a solid 2 FOR ME but little Inez and her powerful voice / lyrics would be #1)
The blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice
I could say it ain't so, but darlin', what's the use?
The darker the chocolate, the richer the taste
And that's where it's at
Now baby, run and tell that
RUN AND TELL THAT!!
Run and tell me
How dare you put Run and Tell That as #10! That's the best song in the movie!
RIGHT!
jordynliketheriver that is so true
COMPLETELY AGREE
We've been dealt a bad hand :[
Agreed
"I Know Where I've Been" should've easily been top 3...
Jarrett Self OF COURSE
It Takes Two doesn't even get a full run time in the film. It was stupid for that to be an honorable mention. MsMojo is just stanning Zac Efron.
So right

You could have easily took out "You're Timeless to Me" and slid "I know Where I''ve Been" somewhere in there.
Seriously
Datt Mamon yup
But they didn't want to it's their list they can do what they want.
And take out Miss Baltimore Crabs, don't really care for that song.
Your Timeless To Me is my favourite segment
Big Blonde and Beautiful may have more "spunk", but "I Know Where I've Been" is a beautiful song and Queen Latifah does it justice wonderfully and shouldn't have been left out.
That’s what I’m saying!!!!!!! God, I swear ms. mojo intentionally makes videos that are extremely annoying and disappointing.
My favourite is I know where I've been. It's just so power and Queen Latifah sings it with such power.
Don't Dream It, Be It. I can't believe it wasn't in the list
Don't Dream It, Be It. I'm pissed it's not on the list...
Don't Dream It, Be It. seriously. it is my favorite song in the musical (my favorite musical) and its my favorite song in general
I totally agree. I don't agree with the diss of it at all. Queen Latifah is so powerful and it is a rousing performance.
Mine too. I'm nervous when I gotta play Maybelle Motormouth's role in our Hairspray high school production but I have no idea how to pull it off yet.
Personally I think "You're timeless to me" is kind of boring and should be an honorable mention. "I know where I've been" Should be on here. It's too bad though that "Mamma I'm a big girl now" was only in the end credits because it's a nice song that includes Penny and Amber.
I agree it's good but not very singy or dancy and should have been replaced by I know where ive been
I agree but I think that you’re timeless to me is got a very heart touching meaning and think that it’s very underrated but so is welcome to the sixtys
100% agree
I can't believe it's been 10 years. This movie is definitely an all time favorite and deserves sm more recognition.

Literally I’m gonna be salty about the fact that I know where I’ve been isn’t on this list like wtf that’s the most meaningful song in this movie
Abbey Barnhart yeah it pretty much defines what the movie is about.
Right?I was kind of expecting it to be #1
'I know where I've been' takes 1st place for the rest of us though! Brought me to tears the first time I heard it!

I love the meaning behind the song but it unfortunately isn't as memorable as some of the other songs on the soundtrack!
I always knew you can't stop the beat would b at no. 1. It just makes perfect sense seeing as it's hairspray's most recognisable song
