death threats for not being hyped about a kids film. What an age we live in...
Probably not from the same folks who gave him similar threats for enjoying Ms. MARVEL. So he's getting it from different angles
Those are the “Pride” bullies forcing their bs on kids. It’s gross.
Lmao people today are weird af. Imagine sending someone a death threat over a difference of opinion on a kids film. Absolutely ridiculous.
It's the same generation that likes Steven Universe. You know, the community that bullied a young girl because she drew a character wrong.
Fandoms are actual cults these days.
@@vulcanh254 Its their ideologies they don't have real personalities. We live in a weird time and its going to get worst
Imagine sending death threats to people that have there own option about a movie, what a sick world we live in.
Yeah, some people take Disney stuff waaaaaay to seriously

Solution: turn off internet
Literally
Death threats are just words with no action so its basically useless to make them
You’ll never convince me this movie wasn’t about franchise cash.
They literally all are.
And we would need to because…?
I kinda liked the idea behind it a buzz lightyear movie even tho I hate woke garbage. I tried watching the trailers to give it a chance it just didn't look good. Looked kinda boring.
@@randomhiphop5055 you have no business reviewing art if use phrases like “woke garbage”. Stay away from media entertainment, kid…it’s too much for you

I love how Alex always looks like hes just waiting for everyone to finish so he can present the most honest review out world has ever seen.
Alex thinking coco was original 😅
Literally that part. Love Alex
I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing lol
Yea this dude needs his own show ! This is a lame ass review
the sad part is that Joe was like this , gave the most honest review and spoke his mind , now he is trying so hard to sugar coat everything it is becoming like everyone else out there
I do respect that the AngryJoeShow acknowledge the fact that their audience disliked their opinion about the initial trailer reaction and that they did not deter themselves from formulating their own opinion with the movie review.
🤣🤣🤣🍩
libs gonna be brainless libs I guess
Oh yeah a good deal of his audience is in the range of “Disney sucks” type of viewer. Or you have to like everything they like. So they get mad if he ever gives good reviews to stuff they don’t like. Good on him really, a lot other reviewers usually just cave to keep up likes.
@@asdfghjkl10531 i cant even watch coco
@@asdfghjkl10531 well yeah this is below average for Pixar but they still enjoyed it. Look even average Pixar stuff is still enjoyable. What they said was they enjoyed the movie but acknowledge objectively it’s not a great film compared to Pixar’s usual high standards.
I love how they handled the stuff about the audience not liking a video.
I didn't, it comes off as childlish, tell me the review buddy I don't give a S about your e-points.
Huh?
@@mistadopeman In the beginning of the video, did you even watch it?
I've grown to love Alex's opinions. I always thought he was to harsh on things but I appreciate him being real.
Thought that day 1 and didn’t fall for the hate train
I’ve always liked Alex’s opinion …. He can be critical of a bit too much but out of the three I like listening to him
Yea same. He’s the hard headed one out of the three but his take on media is a real one
Alex is the best
I never did.... They need someone like Alex on their team with that POV.
This movie barely felt like a pixar kids movie that andy would grow up with, which is how it was portrayed and talked about. The cartoon did that well. Personally, I think the movie was a 6/10. Also, always love alex's opinion. He often has the same viewpoint and perspective I do, but sometimes he has a better memory about details on things I didn't like or don't think the movies do well with.
From the studio is that the Buzz in this movie is NOT the TOY from Toy Story, it is just BASED on the toy character from Toy Story.
There is no way this film is above average. Joe doesn't even really think about every animated movie to understand what that means. It is below average like most modern bad writing and woke garbage.
How are you can tell me that these people have an agenda always try to push their homosexuality almost as if it’s normal why to make the woman of black woman lesbian for what these people are so wried
@@rogerhalt3991 wow what a stupid decision on the studios part. All this explaining they have to do as their story is shit.
So if “Lightyear” is a film in Andy’s universe and we’re watching it, then the characters in the film we are watching are all actors and there are special effects and the action sequences are choreographed? I didn’t expect that layer.
Based on a real astronaut in the universe.
So when you buy a buzz lightyear, you’re buying a toy based on a movie that is a toy based on a movie!

I totally knew this was a cash grab from the beginning, it felt unnecessary to make. Especially when we already have the 2D animated series with Patrick Warburton and Wayne Knight as Buzz and Zerg. A suit said "Toy Story is popular, Chris Evans, is popular, let's make a Buzz movie." instead of just putting the Buzz Lightyear 2D animated series on D+ and promoting it, or reviving it to have the voice actors return. Unfortunately, with Disney, 2D animation is dead.
Because Home On The Range was so bad and 3D animation became a lot more profitable everyone wanted to permanently switch to 3D animated movies
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that 2D animated series you're gushing over was also a cash grab...
@@jessebrown1996 it doesn’t count if they were too young to realize. It’s like all those morons complaining that comics have become woke cause they were too dumb to understand the social issues from back in the day so it doesn’t exist lol
The story from the animated series was already so rich and fun. Buzz and Team Lightyear had chemistry. Buzz and Zurg had chemistry. All the other villains were awesome. X-L, Warp Darkmatter, NOS482, Gravitina. They put cardboard by the book Buzz Lightyear in a team of nutjobs and you can see he starts to trust and love his team.
As a child I remember watching the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command show and really enjoying it and hoping for a Pixar movie Based on Buzz and and his fellow Star command friends,I enjoyed the Lightyear movie but I feel like it could have been better with the characters from the show but overall it was an enjoyable watch.

I think the film was okay at best. The animation was stellar but everything else was just your typical scifi action film
That's fair, I love Toy Story and that Lightyear had a really good plot honestly
Maybe because this is supposed to be the Lightyear movie Andy watched in his universe, which was, a typical sci-fi action film lol. I haven't seen it yet, but I don't get what people were expecting?
Isn’t that what it was kinda supposed to be?
It's formulaic
I agree
How could people disagree that this movie was a cash grab? They literally made a spin-off of Toy Story while completely ignoring the blatant content that was already there "Star Command".
What's insanely disgusting is they sent three quality original Pixar movies to Disney+ while this one got a full release.(Both movies having released in a time where theaters were in fact reopened and people voiced their willingness to watch them in theaters.)
I think Buzz Lightyear of Star command can co-exist with this in universe.
The movie comes out. Andy is super into it, gets the buzz toy.
Buzz becomes popular with kids, so they make a cartoon from the property, that's buzz Lightyear of Star command.
It all fits, especially since the pilot movie for BLOSC has an intro with the toy story characters that implies the cartoon came out AFTER Andy got the toy
I know really. Angry Joe doesn't even know that Soul and Turning Red even exist.
Because it's not a cash grab. Spider man, batman, and star war shows after 100 remakes is a cash grab
I’m pretty sure the Star Command show is extremely niche. It’s not even on Disney+.
Which movies?

@@carterscruggs3908 if it is then it would be the same as it was in the buzz lightyear star commander movie
I just posted the same thing. Zurg simply isn't very menacing anymore when you realise that he's.....yep. And this shit is canon too.
If it makes you feel any better, one of the post-credit scenes implies that the Zurg we see in this move isn't the "real" one
@@thebatman4279 "Canon" is a very loaded word. Lasseter created Buzz and he's not in the company anymore sooooo...

Can we seriously move on from that meme? It's fucking ancient now.
Alex is the most articulate one when reviewing the films. He is the harshest because he expects good games and movies from billion dollar companies that follow good source material and tell a compelling story. Especially when those companies reuse already established media and try to retcon original work and stories.
I don't always agree with some of the groups opinions, but they all give really good points why they don't like what they play and watch. It's why I always come back to your reviews.
In the TV show, Buzz does have a cool robot companion named X-R, but he's more like a combination of R2D2 & C3PO. His other team members include a big red alien who is a fanboy, and the coolest one is a blue alien princess who could faze through walls & ceilings.
You got it all correct
Actually it's like a merge ot the two spash in a real flirt with ladies and a get illegual get rich quick guy and a massive amount of fire power.
I remember the show was actually entertaining 🤣 even though it had a C squad.
The Princess is Mira Nova voiced by Nicole Sullivan aka Shego. The big alien is Booster Munchapper. who used to be the janitor :D
@@anarkyink1943 Oh yeah, I'm remembering it now.
To Infinity. And Beyond. For Disney to milk more nostalgia cash from the audience.
I mean they built that nostalgia why wouldn’t they milk it. As long as it sells they will never stop and you can’t really blame em.
I'm teriffied for Indiana Jones. I do not want him ruined too.
Every movie they’ve ever made is nostalgia based, from Snow White to today
@@manticorephoenix I don't think adapting fairy tales and stories many audience members would've forgotten about or never read at the time counts as nostalgia. Seriously, did anyone know of Hunchback of Notre Dame before Disney adapted it? Also, none of Disney's original properties like Zootopia pander to nostalgia. You're just defending Disney's laziness.
Oh my God, are you telling me a company is using their intellectual property to make a profit? Color me shocked.
It's definitely odd to me that a trailer for a spin off movie like this is the hill people want to die on. It's not even in the Toy Story universe really. So weird.
Lol Buzz isnt gay. Chill.
@nemo pouncey It didn't feel forced, though. At least to me, it felt perfectly natural.
@nemo pouncey No, but other movies didn’t have to make a lot of characters straight. They just chose to.
@nemo pouncey as oppose to making them straight? Do they have to be straight? What kind of dumb question is this? Lol
Forced gay agenda in this movie was trash, a gay commander that licked clit and ended up having children, they have adoption centers on that planet they were stranded on? Doesn't make sense gays try too hard
Shout out to the original Buzz Lightyear of Star Command movie. I haven't seen the new one yet, but it's got big shoes to fill. I hope Buzz still feels like Buzz. Also, this original 2000 movie was what Andy watched. The new movie can't change that.

I think it was a "OK" standalone film but as part of the "Lightyear" lore i feel like it ultimately undermined his status as a true Hero because of what they did with Zerg; the evil emperor guy that wants to rule the galaxy and destroy Buzz and Starcommand. I can't see this Zerg becoming the one i know from the cartoons.
Here is what I think. Want to see a larger than life version of Buzz Lightyear? Go see Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. The original cartoon on what happened before he became a toy is funny, inventive, interesting and has good characters. Unlike this thing who seemed set on destroying that.
I don't think it was seemed set on destroying it. Could be more of a way for the movie to set up more movies, set similarly in the same sort of universe if they want to expand more on the Buzz Lightyear stuff.
Didn't have Tim Allen in that though.
@@mrcaterpillow9926 I feel like they went out of their way to twist the characters away from the original version. Rumors are Pixar hat the original cartoon.
@@MsMissX If Pixar hated the original cartoon, why did they create a character called Buzz Lightyear of Star Command in the first place....if their "real" movie would be completely detatched from anything resembling any star command or being a space ranger that toy believed he was apart of?
So instead of watching a generic space film I have to watch a generic 90s kids tv show?
Alex is the best movie critic out of the three of them. Hands down period. I not only grew up with the Toy Story movies, the animated Buzz Lightyear movie, and the actual licensed Toy Story toys, and I hated this movie. The explanation of Zurg's name was stupid, the forced obstacles that kept coming. The side characters were garbage. To be honest about Pixar, after I found out that all their movies up to Wall-E were concieved in a single afternoon way back in the day by one group, I had a feeling some kind of pixar 'magic' may be lost after Wall-E. Since then indeed, still quality, but many more sequels and lesser creativity overall.
Still, this looks cool and I'de be happy to see it.
Man, i could only imagine what sorry of meeting that would have been. And what those people were on 🥴

Honestly Disney shot themselves in the foot with this one by doing 2 things. 1 not getting Tim Allen for the voice of buzz, and 2 going so hard on identity politics in the marketing by making a big deal outta the scene, they could have just put the scene in the movie and not talked and died on that hill and it probably wouldn't have been a flop.
For me, the movie was all about that nostalgia. It didn't feel like it was anything. It felts like another sci-fi movie, just with a character you already know.

Because when you buy a toy figure sometimes the original actor doesn't do the voices for their own actions figures. This also happens in real life.
@@jozsefalfaro2350 Yes... it happens in real life... and kids know the difference. Are we just saying things for the sake of argument?
@@cabe3231 no they are literally answering ur question lol wtf
Why would Andy wonder that? Do real kids wonder why their toys don’t sound like the movies? I never did, and Andy doesn’t seem like someone who would care
3:33 when he comes back to find an empty desk and Hawthorne (His Mentor and Best Friend) has DIED was that moment in this film and you would have to be blind or devoid of empathy to not have noted that Joe LOL
People can't handle other opinions these days anymore. Really sad
I hated how Zurg didn't say his catchphrase from the tv show which was "curse you buzz lightyear"
They can't have people saying bad words.
@@cashewnuttel9054 But it was his catchphrase from the cartoon buzz lightyear of star command
@@justingochioco1121 Being that this particular Zurg is an alternate reality version of Buzz, I don't think him saying that makes sense. That being said, they should've kept Zurg's identity a mystery.
I have a feeling lightyear would have been a good to probably even great TV show. It felt very TV when I saw it myself personally. I like it too but I felt like it could have been a better sitcom than a movie
Just remember that Disney/Pixar made a child's chair sentient in Toy Story 4 and thought nothing of it....
Cars is a super fun movie wth, why is it ranked so low
Alex looks thrilled as always. Lol
Merchandising,merchandising!! Lol
I was in the same boat as you guys, low expectations. Im glad you guys still gave it a review,i might check it out now. Thanks for the hard work AneryJoe Team
Am I the only one who's tired of seeing f-up characters? I remember growing up characters were allowed to be professionals.
AJ you should watch Superpets when it comes out that's the closest thing to a Superman movie that we are going to get.
He should watch Titanic 666 instead!
For me it needed Tim, or better yet Patrick, to voice Buzz.
You like it because you don’t want the backlash from not liking it.
Horrible plot, horrible pandering, horrible virtue signaling, horrible wedged in plot points, and Chris Evans insulting everyone. There is no amount you could pay me to watch this trash. The worst part of all? Tim Allen doesn't even do a cameo.
Sox made the movie. Absolutely loved that cat.
If, say, Ford made an electric SUV with plenty of range, an interesting design, lots of practicality and a lot of technology, it'll be a good product. If, theoretically speaking, they put a Mustang badge on it, then we have a problem
Same goes with this movie. It can be a good movie, but given the history of the franchise, that's where the problems start
No... that doesn't make sense as to why it wouldn't be Tim Allen. In Woody's Roundup the voice for Woody was Tom Hanks. Remaining consistent, Tim Allen should be the voice of Buzz in his source material.
I feel like Alex picking at his nails in the thumbnail is all you need to know
I agree with you guys. A 6/10. Top tier animation but I couldn’t help like feeling (about halfway through.) that I seen this movie before. That’s because it steals so many concepts from movies I’ve seen before, I feel like nothing new/fresh was brought to the table. The original star command was much better.
Good thing the majority that will be watching are kids and they haven't seen those movies.
@@chasejackson7248 the majority isn’t kids 😂 it’s adults taking their kids. Kids aren’t paying to see the movie themselves
Its currently at 4.8 at IMDB, lul.
That’s because it got review bombed over the lesbian thing by a bunch of losers. It would probably be at least a 7/10 otherwise.
So it was review bombed for a gay couple. Happens all the time.
@@lilmovieperp3599 haven't seen the movie, but i thouhgt it was because it was mediocre compared to other pixar stuff.
@@PommiMaisteri not from what I heard. Only people hating on it is because of Disney. My 30 year old brother saw it cause of his kids. Wasn’t looking forward to it. Hates Disney stuff. He told me he cried at the end and it’s really well done. That’s just one anecdote and I’m sure there plenty of legitimate criticism. From what I’ve seen tho…lots of haters have weird complaints about “wokeism” or whatever
So Andy saw this movie in 1995... yeah, the one with an Evil Emperor Zurg that isn't evil, an emperor and isn't named Zurg.
6:50 more like "This is a story I want you to sell"
I don't mind the kiss scene (although as a kid I hated all kiss scenes in the different kids movies), I'm mad they didn't bring Tim Allen back.
They put that in for the woke adults watching they don't care about the kids anymore, The adults make them more money nowadays, Disney movies back in the heyday were for kids to watch while the adults did other adult things.
@@chasejackson7248 They put that as part of "their not so secret gay agenda" the exact words from a Disney executive. They are targeting kids with the agenda and not just Disney.
For the first time, this looks like a soulless Pixar film
something happened after they said toy story 3 is the last one after 2 decades. then they said oh we make toy story 4 now and then they said ah fuck it we will just make random number of these. its more like a bulk factory now
@@kallemetsahalme5701 exactly, should have left or, Disney make enough money and have enough imagineers to not taint an all time Pixar great
It’s not
there is no magic in pixar anymore
This is the story I want to tell vs. This is the story I want to sell. You can always tell when there's heart behind a movie.
