- An Ohio police officer has picked a new, four-legged partner after his K-9 colleague Jethro was laid to rest in a police funeral befitting a hero. Officer Ryan Davis and Jethro were responding to a burglary call, when the German Shepherd entered the store and was shot four times. At the K9s4COPS Foundation in Houston, Davis auditioned more than a dozen candidates put them through a battery of tests. Davis selected Tuko, a German Shepherd with a demonstrated skill for catching bad guys. #InsideEdition

@Italian Man Actually it kind of was. Some consider a life sentence 25yrs and he was given 35 for killing the dog, 11 for other charges. While I couldn't care less if the dude hangs himself how crazy is it that he got more for the dog than some for humans?!? Wish they'd up the jail time for animal cruelty as is.

I watched the funeral service for Jethro. Heartbreaking to say the least. This dog was not only this Police Officers Partner, he was a member of the family. He slept with the ten yr old son every night. I;m happy to see this Officer has chosen a new dog to work with. I hope his family bonds with the dog as well. People who kill K-9 Cops should be charged and prosecuted as Cop Killers.

The suspect who shot and killed Jethro did not see a dog. The suspect only saw a Police Officer. Jethro died in the line of duty saving his partner's life. Those bullets were meant for Officer Davis and if Jethro was not there, Davis' family would have probably been attending his funeral. The void left by Jethro's passing can never be replaced, but over time, the family will learn to cope with the lose. Losing a father leaves a far bigger void and is also hard to cope with. I know Tuko will help the family through this tough time.

The emotional pain I feel/felt when my fur babies have passed I can't even begin to imagine how much more pain it would had caused me if they had died saving my life. It's a way hard to lose your pet of any kind. But losing your partner in work and at home. These dogs give their all. And when it falls in the line of duty or from illness, it really does take on a huge difference. They serve with everything they have right to the end. I had to put mine down because of illness, and I miss her every day. She was a great partner and a much love friend for my family. We have other small dogs as family members. But, there's a major difference between them. My would not just protect and serve me and the community, but protect my family from anything she could. May they all rest in peace and walk strong and proud across the rainbow Bridge.

Canines should be completely removed from law enforcement. They're just pets on the taxpayers dollar, and further reinforce the False-Tribalism problem that the public has to endure everyday. That beast was used for torture. Take away all the toys for the police, and maybe they're finally just do their jobs.
