Damn what a beautiful Deuce. My instructor in tech college raced in the late 60's. He built nothing but high revvers. His words were "If it didn't break, I never lost, but it broke alot" he showed me grenaded rear ends, gutted 3 speed manual trans, shattered clutches, twisted in half driveshafts and snapped axles. He said "I was running a 302 Chevy with the best valvetrain you could get. I would stage at 8900 RPM, then slide step the clutch, if it didn't break, you went fast"
I used to race my daily driver 289 hipo mustang. 4speed, 9in.rear, cheater slicks. Launched at 7000& never broke anything! One of the cars I beat was a 340 auto Duster.
A friend of mine bought a new 66 Nova with a 327/350 hp, 4 speed, posi, not sure what gear but all he did was put a set of slicks on it and it would lift the left front tire when he launched it. Not both like this one but it was right from the factory and the only mods was the rear tires. I think they under rated my friends 350 hp engine because they didn't what it to look like it had as much power as the corvette. They had to maintain the corvette's image. This car is awesome, has the speed and that great looking blue paint.
I had a friend that had a '67. It was butternut yellow,I think. Black interior, bucketseats, 327 quadrajet,4speed. Nice little car. This was in '70. Later on he got married & she wrecked it, that's what he got for letting her drive it!
in 1969 this was the car to beat in KC,in the street race scene, this blue car was the king, with reher-morrison engine it dominated, run 9.02 in the quarter, many tried but this was the top of the heap, don't need to name the guy who raced the street action he knows who he is,made alot of money on side bets, good times
Beautiful ride. My dad use to race his 68 in the 70s and built his big block to same specs as off shore race boats. Extreme high revving 4 speed but a bitch creepin in 1st. Shift at 7200 red line 7400.. sadly sits in his garage safe and sound 😣 "lil deuce" a lot of history in central Indiana. Parked it when he totalled a 67 427 camaro and got into racing karts to save the car... his karts name is "lil deuce II" DUAL YAMAHAS.. man he lived in some great times
My favorite kind of car restored but using modern haul add tech in it! What do they call that a resto rod or resto mod? I myself want a Camaro or old school b body dodge which would take far more money and harder to find to! Most likely I will save back a Z/28 Manual car I always loved the F body 1996-2000 I know how to fix every part on it to it’s what was big when I was in shop class everybody had a Camaro! Most had 2.8, 3.4, 3.8, 4.3, 5.0, or the beast 5.7Liter in the later years! Those was the fast ones tones of torque and geared to run 175mph or maybe faster some of them! They really moved on the highway with the 6 speed pulled hard! Don’t take much to wake one up either!
@dalotel I didnt say for a daily driver lol. Personally I would rather make a pass in a hot rod v8 car than on a bike. I never said that my bike wouldnt out run one either, cuz it will spank pretty much anything it comes into contact with haha. It's a YZF750R
Well spent money allows for such repeatable fun! My 468” effortlessly runs thru the traps at 7800rpms, actually i have to be careful when shifting because if I let her have her way about it she’d scream a little higher and louder! My three different Chevy combinations (461”,568”, 572.4 that I’ve ran in my Blown Gas Flatbottom Drag Boat 461” at the hit 8200rpm, 7950rpms at the traps 568 at the hit 8900rpm, 7900rpms at the traps 572” at the hit 8200rpm, 7400rpms at the traps My 10 liter 557” Arias 8600rpms at both ends.. However, these Arias engines provides an individual with instant tunnel vision soon as one pins it to the wood instantaneously 20Ibs boost! when said individual pins it to the wood instant 20ibs of boost
This car is too nice to drag race. The early Novas were nice-looking little cars. The '66-67 were the best looking. The '68 and later have no appeal to me at all, and yet they have a cult following.
@dalotel Coming from a guy that rides a crotch rocket too (yamaha 750), its not the same. I would much rather make a trip down the quarter in our 66 chevy 22, cant beat a V8. lol
Sucked that the didn't show what he was racing.red whit and blue. '69 trans am series...Camaro, Mustang, and a Javelin. That kind looked like a Javelin.
Oh hey, an armchair gearhead. 7.77@182 on radials is only going to happen with AWD, which a '69 Firebird rather glaringly lacks. Even then you're going to be spending a lot of the run spinning your wheels helplessly. On top of that a 632 doesn't need two 70mil turbos to make 1400HP. You barely made enough boost to make the boost gauge twitch, it was doing that all motor....assuming it even exists at all. More than likely you built this thing on a video game...or in your mind, perhaps.
quit bickering,we're all running american iron, restore it ,race it,show it, im just glad they ain';t made us grind em up,by the way pull up to the lights, the bullshit stops, turn on your fuel pump,i don't want to hear any ya ya,spot you 1 beat you 5
@dalotel Don't need to know you (don't care to anyway), to see that you are a poser. You do that on your own. You imply that you are better than others citing the fact that you spend less and go faster. So what? Different strokes....yada yada... Point is, only a poser finds something to belittle others for something they enjoy doing while not knowing anything about THEM.
He better stay in Michigan. If he comes to Alabama and runs a 10.47 on 10.39 dial he's first round bait, headed to the trailer at any track. Cool car but he obviously figured wrong on his dial in.

Used to launch my 340 Challenger at 6200. Broke u joints, sheared off one pinion gear, smoked a bunch of clutches and beat a bunch of big blocks!
I used to race my daily driver 289 hipo mustang. 4speed, 9in.rear, cheater slicks. Launched at 7000& never broke anything! One of the cars I beat was a 340 auto Duster.
I launched my 65 Chevy II Nova at 7000 and turned my spider gears into powder along with several teeth on my ring gear.
I once caught a bullet with my bare hand

It doesn't get any better than that. The epitome of drag racing.
Absolutely beautiful Nova and run right here--and I’m a Ford guy. Great post
Ive seen this car at the late great O.C. Dragstrip in Indiana. Man l miss that place and the great people and cars.!!
in 1969 this was the car to beat in KC,in the street race scene, this blue car was the king, with reher-morrison engine it dominated, run 9.02 in the quarter, many tried but this was the top of the heap, don't need to name the guy who raced the street action he knows who he is,made alot of money on side bets, good times

Damn nailed the time, great launch
That's funny, if the other car hadn't broken out he'd be loading it up and going home.
Man, in high school in the early 80's you could get deuces for $1000.
Had 3 broke all 3 windshields with a de stoked 377 my dad built. Would pull hard I'd get scared and brake and smash front end down hard lolol.
Yep bought one in84 for 1500 283 4 speed
My friend bought a 68 [stil technically a deuce] in 94 for $1000. 6cyl 3spd but very solid car, nice interior. We should have bought them all....
@@tylercannon6819 Lmao, you didn't break anything under the front end??
@@douglasmueller4684 Nice
really nice car .... and fast too !!!
Awesome car, love everything about it.
Nobody cares what dalotel thinks.
That launch gave me wood.

Nice looking car

@WahnamStudent yes, look at the end. you can see the win light on his side. looked like a good race though.
Badass!

It’s called a hole shot boys and not beep the horn three times then roll race at 60 mph and shift your automatic like the manginas do today 😈
Nice
Stock with a roll cage and pulling the front tires for a few hundred feet 👌🏻!!
damn, violent...
Damn.
Supa deuce

At least nobody got hurt.
This is a beautiful nova, congrats on hard work. Really impressive run. What size cam and heads are on this engine?
stock 283
Straight six.

Yes officer it's stock
REAL drag racers are supposed to stick together
video taken with pop can
It's a good runner, nice build. Iron American Dream on UA-cam. Share it. Take a ride across the promised land. Buy a Harley and see the world.
Post a video of your 7.77@182 run and nobody will doubt you anymore. It's that simple.
This car is too nice to drag race. The early Novas were nice-looking little cars. The '66-67 were the best looking. The '68 and later have no appeal to me at all, and yet they have a cult following.
I thouggt it was the homie jaimo from southgate cali
@dalotel Coming from a guy that rides a crotch rocket too (yamaha 750), its not the same. I would much rather make a trip down the quarter in our 66 chevy 22, cant beat a V8. lol
I red lighted.
Sucked that the didn't show what he was racing.red whit and blue. '69 trans am series...Camaro, Mustang, and a Javelin. That kind looked like a Javelin.
16 viewers want to install a V8 in their Honda.
Did you convert it to a poppet vale 2 stroke. Hemis are easy to this to. It revs like a chainsaw.
WTF????
well not everyone can buy a dragster! i wish my daddy would by me one
Oh hey, an armchair gearhead.

I think the radial record is in the high 5s these days. And it's rear wheel drive with 275/60/15s.
5.88 at 228mph, and it ain't 1400hp, but closer to 5000hp. 275/60/15 DOT drag radial on a Fox body Mustang. Pro line Hemi engine.
@bindinglines Comments like that should be left to other brands, not ARP.
Now thats uh REAL FORD KILLA.😅
There will always be someone faster than you,it doesn't matter what brand you drive!
0:10
real cars have 3 pedals

lolno. Your claim, your burden of proof.
@dalotel Don't need to know you (don't care to anyway), to see that you are a poser. You do that on your own. That show Pinks
SUCKED !
The Chevy II is fantastic
Didn't sound like 8,000 rpm. Sounded like maybe 6,000.
A big cube torquer is cheaper.
Best body style for the Nova.
Sadly it became a very ugly car after this year.
@dalotel My bike is faster than yours anyways! Why are you talking shit? lol My bike runs the quarter at 10.6, yours is an 11.84.....lol
He better stay in Michigan. If he comes to Alabama and runs a 10.47 on 10.39 dial he's first round bait, headed to the trailer at any track. Cool car but he obviously figured wrong on his dial in.
OK, Mr. know-it-all. Do you think maybe he had his opponent covered so he let off to make sure he didn't run too fast?
terrible footage - sucks
