Not original with an automatic in it. The slushbox was NOT an option on the first gen z/28. ALL DZ 302's came from the factory with 4 speed manual transmissions.

Pretty cool car but certainly not all that "rare". There were over 20,000 Z28 Camaros built in 1969 so roughly 1 in 8 1969 Camaros was a DZ302 car. I almost threw up in my mouth a little when I saw the air cleaners sticking through the hacked hood and a 302 Camaro with no 4-speed is like a day without sunshine, but to each his own.

I mean believe it if you want (i'm getting this from wikipedia...) there were only 602 z28 sold (another hundred being "Indianapolis Pace Car replicas"). apparently it wasn't advertised very much, so not many new about it and therefore not many bought one.

@@rya3190 If you really read the Wikipedia post, or better yet the actual production numbers from Chevrolet, during the 1st generation, 1967-1969, of Camaros there were closer to 30,000 produced. The actual numbers are as follows: 1967 - 602, 1968 - around 7,200 and 1969 - over 20,000 due to the extended model year and late introduction of the 1970 2nd generation which was equipped with the LT1 350/360 HP engine. Yes the Z/28 wasn't listed as a model, instead it was an option for the Camaro. It was RPO Z28 special performance option that consisted of the 302 cubic inch engine, special springs and suspension, front disc brakes, special 15" wheels and tires and an assortment of other goodies. You couldn't get AC with this and a few other options as well. You could however order the Z22, Rally Sport option with it, you know the hidden headlight set up.

      Rick Totz, I personally know that's true because I bought a '69 Boss 302 new and I still have it. '67-'69 Camaro Z/28's were sloth-slow turds. Pure-stock Z/28, high 14's to low 15's.
