Great video again!!!
Thanks again!
Another great video
Thank you! 🙏🏽
Great content, as always E! As a newbie, I think figuring out manual focus and camera settings are the most intimidating part.
Thanks! Unfortunately, that feeling never really goes away. Looking back at the footage afterwards, I usually feel like I did a good job. But while filming, I'm always convinced I'm messing everything up!
@@BeyondTheGame_E Oh good, I am glad I am not alone. LOL
Top kotch tip, thank you E. You also mentioned in a previous video in dark venues you can lower the frame rate from 60 to 30 and lower the shutter speed from 120 to 60 to brighten up the image. Not great for slow motion, but if struggling to brighten the image that is an option.
Thank you for your feedback and yes, very good point!
The new canon cameras actually knows :P R1 and R5 mark 2 does track the player that either has or recieving the ball :) unfortunatly they didnt make it for running where theres no ball.
Interestingly, Canon's new cameras - the R1 and R5 II - now have AI tracking that can actually focus on the person with the ball. It's pretty ingenious and industry leading.
I’d love to try it!
Facts 💯
So lucky this guy exists.
😊
its just a matter of time until the next update, or new camera from sony will have "ball sports mode" and AI will be able to focus continuously to anyone holding the ball. or just on the ball itself with a more narrow aperture so player holding the ball also is in focus
That would be awesome! Let's hope you are right. 🤞🏽
Your footage is so sharp compared to mine it’s crazy. 🤪 😂
Yeah that's due to my expensive camera, expensive lens and a proper exposure.
Using a small focus area also helps a lot in my opinion
I’ve tried that but I find it hard to navigate. Are you using a specific zone in your frame?
Comment ça va mon homme?
Très bien, merci!
Yes and no. You can shoot inn 2.8 or 3.2 at anytime. You are working in 3D space and you didn't mention touch to focus. Once AF locks on a tracks it won't jump between players. You also didn't mention using an ND filter. That's a must outdoors in daylight. Shooting at 5.6 while not on a big zoom doesn't give you separation. Everyone needs to get used to AF and use it the best they can and not shy away from shooting wide open. Shooting wide open at wide 35-50mm will not give you that shallow depth of field.
You have some good points but, ultimately, any technique comes with its own set of flaws. For example, touch focus is great on a tripod but very difficult to use while filming handheld. Regarding VND’s, I use them too. By suggesting a low f-stop I wasn’t implying that VND’s were not necessary. Sorry if that wasn’t clear. And as you said, in a 3D space, the depth of field will look differently in different situations but you can definitely get a shallow depth of field at 35mm. My talking head shot in the video is shot with a 24mm lens and the room is really not that big.
Shooting wide open at something like 1.4 at 50mm will absolutely give you a shallow depth of field.
These options are great, but I think manual focus is the way to go 100% of the times when filming action
That's true. But most people are either scared of manual focus or they just assume that autofocus is the norm.
@@BeyondTheGame_E that's sad but true :(
What if you aren't using a prime lens? Wouldn't it be too hard to zoom and manually focus
@@kctchia I don't use prime lenses, I use a Fujinon B4 lens and I do manual focus and manual zooming at the same time with my left hand, I use the thumb to zoom in and out with a zoom stick and the rest four fingers to focus, B4 glass are meant for video specifically
@@kctchia all the live sport you watch on tv is filmed in manual focus with zoom lenses.
What up E
👋🏽
