I Went Off Script During a WWE Match
Вставка

- WWE matches are predetermined, but wrestlers do a lot of improvisation while in the ring. During one of my matches, my opponent improvised and did something that forced me to go off script. I share what he did and what I did to him in this video.
Thanks for watching the video and hearing my story. After hearing my explanation, do you agree with what I did?
loving these videos , thank you for sharing :) .
The clothesline was more devastating than Bradshaw's 😂
Another excellent upload
Yes, definitely.
Yes stuff happens in the mix of time
"I took control of the match," Maven describing his attempted murder via clothesline...
"I wasn't stiff with those fists --"
No. But that clothesline certainly was.
😂
Do not cross Maven. Snitsky found out about that the hard way in that one match...
😂😂😂
@@CellGames2006i guess it was his fault
the "old school" guys would've stiffed Masada after that. Kudos to you for trying to make it a teaching moment rather than stiff him.
And not once. He would’ve had more receipts than a suspicious girlfriend.
Ba-Dum-Tss
I dont know... that clothesline sounded pretty nasty to me!
Try that cover on JBL and he would end up in the ER
@@Unholychaos987 To me it looks like he turned enough that is was more of a takedown than a clothesline.

That's an old school response. Hell yeah. You also weren't even down for a one count, and your competitor did a one foot cover, and was completely relaxed when you gave him a clothesline. That exposed the business. You did the right thing, absolutely.
How does this expose the business? I thought this was kind of a cool spot

If anything, its a good thing Masada was facing you and not someone who might have been more willing to go further into potentially unacceptable territory.
Masada is a tough guy. I think he would have been fine.
Imagine him doing this to Jamal (aka Umaga)
Hardcore Holly, JBL, Ron Simmons, or even Eddie Guerrero would've KILLED him for that.

@@ousmansano21was this supposed to be a dark match because I didn’t hear the commentators (I know a dark match is a non televised match)
@@Mowmauf If it was supposed to be a dark match they wouldn't have a cameraman going up the ramp with him. Also, I saw this match on TV.
The off script moment got a great pop too. I actually think it worked really well as storytelling- the heel looks like an asshole for trying a cocky pin, but Maven doesn't look weak because it doesn't even get a one count, and he leaps up and takes control.
One of the BEST channels I've come across in the past year. Love from 🇨🇦
I haven't watched wrestling in twenty years but somehow ran across your channel. I've been glued to it ever since. You were meant to be on UA-cam, Maven. Thank you for creating a positive community and bringing us together to support charities as well. Wishing you all the best. 💙
You missed so much in 20 years. That’s crazy.
@@Kevmaster2000I haven’t watched wrestling since I was a kid at the height of Hulkamania and I’ve been digging the channel. As an adult, wrestling doesn’t interest me… but this bts look is interesting
@@Akkbar21you missed a shit ton of crazy shit including someone called Chris Benoit which he eventually died via suicide
Same here. I loved the attitude era but then stopped. Watching all this new talent is interesting
Knowing some of Masadas work I thought that it was because of him either being too stiff or he took some liberties (thing that has happened A LOT on his matches)...but like you said Maven, something as simple as that it means much, MUCH more in the bigger picture. Awesome video as always, greetings from Uruguay!!
Same here. But it's good to know, even though he's done a lot of deathmatch stuff, Masada at least knows how to not work stiff.
Why dude never had a wwe contract
When did Masada take liberties besides stiffing the crap out of Spydar Boodrow for not knowing how to work?
I even once had a chance encounter with his ex wife. What she told me isn't publicly known, but it gave me a horrible insight into the kind of man he is.
You've said it before, everything in wrestling is about Respect. That's the main 'currency' you have and the only thing someone else can increase or diminish as a result of their actions. Whether intentional or not, you were disrespected, lowering your perceived status. Having the wherewithal to push back against that was 100% necessary given those circumstances. You had to show that you weren't going to sit there and take it.
And still someones who beahaved as disrespectful as you can imagine in Japan, while the Internet was watching what he did, got a job as a wrestler in that very company. So I guess respects only goes as far as the boss says "I don't care". Not saying that showing respect should go out of the window. I just say it seems there are double standards going on, at least in WWE, with those respect rules.
It's just petty bullying isn't it.
Okay but the guy was trying to make a name for himself. It’s his one shot. Is he supposed to just be uneventful and non-memorable?
@@benizjammmin He's supposed to not try to make himself look better than someone who actually works for the company he was trying out for. Sure, he needs to look like he can work, but at the end of the day he was there to job for Maven, and you don't do that by pinning someone with your boot.
Loving the behind the scenes insight you offer. Wrestling was my jam back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Not so much in the last couple decades, but I still really enjoy hearing these tales. 👍🏻
The mid 2000s to early 2010s was the GOAT. And now it’s really good again too.
@@Kevmaster2000Early 2010s? Now? It's sucked to me since 2005.
@Speedyreedy1218 it's the hottest it's been in a long time right now.
@DeckyStrikesBack I don't watch show to show. But I've kept up with what's happening through podcasts. Whenever the podcaster talks about "what's hot" and makes a recommendation of a segment, I look for the clip.
And still, I am bored, disappointed, and unimpressed by what you consider "is the hottest It's been in a long time. "

It's Always Fun When Maven Talks. The Skill Of Story Telling That Maven Had Is Truly Magnificent
I think him being a former teacher, it’s just normal & natural for him. To stand in front of students, trying to explain everything in full detail so they can understand & comprehend, translates the same as in his videos.
This is a breath of fresh air in contrast to all the bruised ego beat downs and revenge plots we hear about on here. Thank you.
Hey Maven, I just wanted you to know that you are a GREAT charismatic speaker. Man, you can make anyone feel the emotions you want them to feel with any inflection of your voice. It’s stunning and I take notes of it as I speak publicly or personally to people. Thanks!!
I am always fascinated by maven's story, Whether it being a good or a bad occasions. It's quite a journey to be a wrestler in general and you explain it very well.
I’m not gon lie I grew up on ruthless aggression and growing up I wasn’t the biggest maven fan. But his UA-cam grind has been very interesting. Been watching a lot of his videos. Keep it up dude
My man got rocked with that clothesline lol 2:43 . This is the kinda content we never knew we needed. Great video Maven
Yea so many people are saying he did it the nice way. He totally stiffed Masada as he should’ve.
I couldn't help but LMAO at the reactionary clothesline to the situation. I don't think it was "Stiff" per say, but there was enough mustard on that clothesline that Maven's opponent was going down no matter what. I agree though that it was warranted
He has said that he has a temper, lol. Clothesline to teach the rookie, then take control. Simple as.

Man, at this point, I want to hear whatever Maven wants to say. If I'm not wrong, this channel has become one of the amazing things after Attitude era. Mr. Maven, I must really acknowledge your amazing narrating ability. God bless you and stay healthy.
The way you popped up reminded me of Triple H popping up to attack a Fan who just attacked Stone Cold in the match. Very well done!
He did that when a fan tried to get Linda too.
The ref got in that squabble too!
@@magillagorilla57 After HHH already had it under control.
@@magillagorilla57 Heheh, yeah he did. It was pretty funny.
I used to think the B-shows like Heat and Velocity were where talent had a bit more leeway and creative freedom. Interesting to know the producers/road agents also had that stuff held down to the last minute detail, or at least that's the vibe I'm getting from this. Then again, this was just a couple of years after the Perry Saturn/Mike Bell incident on Metal so I'd imagine they'd had to have stepped up the control either way.
I always enjoyed watching heat and velocity for that reason very occasionally you would get a big time angle or championship match
It probably depends a bit on what sort of match it is. If its between two signed talents, its a bit different. When you got tryout guys... you need to script it because hell, even when you do something like this can happen. What flies in an Indy doesn't fly in a show that going out on TV to be part of continuity on a bigger show.
Honestly I would love to see more videos like this where you analyze and explain what’s going on in your matches. I think it’s very cool seeing the process of how matches are broken down and how you improvise.
Masada was crazy in japan, so much cruel matches :D
Great channel and even better shirt. I hope you never get tired of making videos cause they’re always top tier
Bro u are so respectful, and how you explained every part of the match and how you handle things on and off the the ring is pure sportsmanship mad respect for you 👊

I used to be all about WWE. It was a big part of my teen years. I graduated high school in 2002. After I graduated I moved out of the house and started doing adult life. Wrestling fell off, or it wasn't really a priority for me anymore. So I'm sad to say I didn't really see you wrestle in your prime years. But I'll tell ya that your channel has me hooked! This was a great video. The off script actually made a great little story. He does that in the indies, but that won’t fly in the big league where the best compete. Great vid here
Love this content Maven. My favourite channel on UA-cam at the moment.
The politics in everything is crazy videos like this explaining ur psychology are phenomenal 🔥 interesting to be in the mind of a wrestler at that level
Thanks for this insightful video. It's awesome to hear your analysis of this match. There is just so much going on.
Maven, This reminds me of a video with KoKo B Ware. I think his opponent tried to go into business for himself and Koko leveled him with a clothesline. Your clothesline sent a message as well. Great job on letting him know he was a guest in your house.
You mean "Koko Ware absolutely murders a jobber?"
Just wanna say I love your channel, I wrestled on the independents in Vegas back in 2002 to 2006 and even though it wasn't WWE level a lot of what you say is very relatable to my experience I started in my teens and had to go above and beyond just to prove myself and get respect and learn to stand up for myself because some of the guys could be mean AF lol my trainers were legends Nick Bockwinkle and Scott Casey they were tough but actually super nice guys and I was so honored to have trainers of that level.
Btw, one of my class mates at the Wrestling School was Kenny King from Tough Enough 2 lol right after the show ended he joined the school and that experience deserves a story time of itself 😂😂
And another thing I forgot how AMAZING your entrance music was WOW!
Thank you, Maven, for this channel. I have been a lifelong fan, to the point where I wanted to make it a career. One check-up at the doctor later I found it riskier than I anticipated lol. This is what modern day wrestlers need more of, protecting your character, having some old school mentality and competitiveness. These days its a bit of a free for all
They need to protect legends' finishers too.

I think Masada is a case in which an outsider tries to impress but just hasn't figured out how things work here. If he was gonna lose to Mave anyways, might as well make himself look better in the process. But he just didn't understand the game rules of WWE.
Maven has become one of my favorite wrestling content creator
Maven, I wanted to thank you for two notable things with your UA-cam channel. For one, I really enjoy how you break things down and explain how things happen in the match, and how things work behind the curtain as well. I also really like your method of explaining. I feel your teaching background shines through in that aspect. I recently started a job as a substitute teacher, and never really considered myself a "talker", but I had to learn quickly with this job. Your videos seem to help me figure that part out, as well. Maybe it's just because I'm more of an introvert at heart... but hey, we all can change ourselves, right? :>
Thanks for reading this!

And really like how kind and understanding of a person Maven seems to be
This is a cool channel, my first day watching some vids here, I'd heard somewhere Maven did not like talking or being asked about wrestling, whether that was false or he's changed his stance, I love seeing people embracing past roles/jobs and talking so positively and wholesomely about it even if it wasn't so great at times. If you can laugh and reflect on the past, it just does you good in the present and future. I will watch more.
I remember this match, I'd enjoyed Masada in ROH around this time so it was fun to see him in a WWE ring. Very interesting to hear this story, as a viewer I was completely unaware of the off script parts of it and it's fun to hear the full story from laying out the match to backstage after, I was left with no questions, very satisfying story. Thanks Maven.
I did notice him standing on your chest as soon as it happened before you mentioned it. It did seem like a sign of disrespect that Chris could have got away with but less of talents couldn't. I didn't think you would get reemed for doing .doing it
