I'm late but i wanted someone to create lightning with "find edges", coz i've always had the idea.
Does this also work for static images where the lightning will move or does the original layer have to be animated?

this is great, BUT at the end my effect has ablack glow around my subject that i cant get rid of? you're had that too but then it looks like you abruptly skip a few steps right at the end and suddenly its gone? PLEASE help i have spent two days trying to figure this out!
Use screen blending mode or use unmult plugin or use levels effect to clip black so color values don’t go below zero

How do I Increase and decrease the intestity of the lighting? Which keyframes?
Use curves to boost exposure and maybe a little blur beforehand so the lightnight gets thicker when you boost the exposure. Do all this before the turbulent displace.

Procedural is the key to getting anything done when you do something more than a few times. That’s always my dev phase. Template it out!
