I went to a signing at Tower records in Manhattan when Far Beyond Driven came out. I had a Headbangers Ball shirt on and Dime and Vinny had a whole conversation with me about the shirt, keeping me there longer that I was allowed. It was awesome. Dime was so nice to me and didn't make me feel beneath him. I had them sign the CD booklet and I had it framed.
To hear Zakk tell you, you get to hear all the guitar lessons he learned from you in action had to been a major affirmation of your musical worth. Congratulations man.
thank you Ola for the nice video, i was also in hamburg and after the pantera show I met you on the side of the stage and took a picture with you. this is a beautiful reminder of this beautiful day and this legendary concert. I can even see myself in the audience, it's really cool. and remember forever stronger than all 🤘⚡️
My crappy "Big 4" cover band used to play at a place Pantera played at before and just after the CFH release in Dallas called The Basement. After their gigs, they'd come hang out with the crowd and have some drinks, but they separated between Vinny and Dime and Phil and Rex. Myself being a guitarist primarily, I always hung out with the Abbot brothers. Later, I joined the Army, and was stationed at Fort Hood, TX. Pantera came out to a little hole-in-the-wall venue that had a capacity of like 300 people. At the end of the show, they came to the bar, and Vinny and Dime remembered me. This club had a dentist's chair, and if you ordered a certain drink, the bartender holds 4 bottles in his hands, and just dumps them down your throat. I ordered that drink, and Dime and Vinny poured the bottles. The last time I ever saw Vinny and Dime was in 1997. I was about to get married, and a friend of mine was also friends with Vinny and Dime. I had told her about these stories, and she mentioned me to them, and they threw me a bachelor party at Vinny's Clubhouse (an all-nude club in Arlington that Vinny owned). Partying with Vinny and Dime with a lot of naked women ... There's no possible better bachelor party! It was definitely memorable even with as much as I drank that night! The funny thing is, out of all of those occasions, not once did I ever meet Phil, or Rex! The VIP passes are sold out for the upcoming show in Arlington, Texas, so not going to happen this time.
That really does without question sound like the most legendary bachelor party to ever grace the earth 🌎! 🤟🏻 and you never know in the metal world…really cool weird shit that you never could have planned on happens sometimes! As you know it has already happened to you as well. Here’s my Pantera -Dime/ Vinnie story I saw Pantera in 1994 , met Vinnie Paul in 2012 in Kelowna BC Canada 🇨🇦 ( on his DW drums official Vinnie Paul signature snare drum promotion tour ) and had him autograph my concert shirt from that show… 18 years later! I also asked Vinnie if he would personally give thanks to Scott Ian of Anthrax for the killer Dimebag riffs during Scott’s guitar solo when Anthrax played a show in 2010 with Judas Priest in Vernon British Columbia CANADA 🇨🇦 the crowd went totally apeshit when Scott threw down a Dimebag solo mashup after seeing my Old Pantera ( pot leaf with the rusty Pantera letters on top.) tour shirt about 100 ft. away out in the crowd ( that Vinnie later signed !) as I was telling him this … Vin said the funniest part of me telling him that was .. that he would actually be seeing Scott Ian in only 3 days at home in Texas at his annual Cinco De Mayo party ( Mexican holiday) and he would definitely tell him ! It really happened! The craziest link up of all those events falling into place over 18 years!… I couldn’t even make that shit up if I tried! I have to think that somehow… Dime had a hand in make that happen for me ! By far a few of the greatest things that ever happened in my entire life ! Even 10 years later, I still can’t barely believe it truly went down like that ! And it happened to me ! So you never know… I hope something like that happens for you also! … the crazy forces in the universe all line up and somehow you find yourself backstage at that show! To Meet Phil , Rex, Charlie and Zakk as well ! 🤟🏻😎 Cheers ! 🍻 brother!
@@andrewpardue3324 That would be awesome for sure! I love Charlie from his Anthrax days, and Zakk is just a badass. I was really bummed when Jake E. Lee was kicked out of Ozzy's band, but when I heard No Rest for the Wicked, Zakk's sound and style blew me away.
I've met all of them several times when I lived in Dallas from 89 to 94. In my opinion you didn't miss much not meeting Phil and Rex. Neither of them had anything near the personality of Dime not even Vinnie honestly. I do have a pretty cool encounter with Vinnie though. Drinking some beers at the bar at the basement and just bullshitting with each other in probably 92 or so . Then come what I consider a kinda surreal very cool moment when I turned around and cemetery gates video was on headbangers ball on the big screen hanging in the wall. And another time me and a few of my buddies went to see iron maiden testament and c.o.c at the starplex and dime Vinnie and rex and their friends took up the whole rest of the Isle Dime got all of us so drunk we could barely stand up. Still don't remember how we got back to my apartment. The Dude was one of a kind. I believe he never met a stranger
I'm glad that you went to these Pantera concerts and shared your experience with us. There isn't anyone I'd trust more than you to give us a honest heartfelt review of how it was to see them live and I'm happy that you enjoyed it.
Wow. What an absolutely nostalgic trip... for you and for us watching you... and such an honest, almost emotional SWOLA. I'm so glad that you got to go, that you shared it with us and, finally, for chosing to squeeze this week's episode into your schedule for us! Everything about #143 absolutely NEEDED to be here and I, 100%, understand why you HAD to make it! You're the King of what you do, Sir. So, of COURSE... you were on that list!
Huge SWOLA. 1: Holy Crap... did NOT know that my friend Victor voices Metalocalypse characters. Yeah, pretty sure I'm going to reach out to him and try get a pedal to Brendan. 2: ON THE LIST!! Wow that's awesome dude. Living the dream right there.... Must be a huge, mind blowing, weird, amazing, feeling for you. Killing it as always Ola
I'm so happy for you, I felt emotional as you talked about being on the list. You are amazing, all your hard work has paid off in so many ways. Congrats on all your success, you have earned it!
I had the chance to see Pantera when I went to Graspop fest. It was the wildest, the rawest AND the more violent show I ever had assist. And I’m 42 😅 I even got part of my hand broken!!! Like I never EVER go into mosh. The day I saw Phil and Rex on the same stage is like the best show ever! How I envy you, Ola!
The deafening roar caused by the space time highfive from the young Ola and our dimension's Ola will echo and reverberate through eternity. This is unbeatable, my dude!
Zak Wilde watching Ola and saying you'll see your lessons in action is honestly a very humbling thing. kudos Zak even the people we look up to are still learning even though they wrote the book.
Korns new Record - tripaloski 🤘🏻😂 The Vblog is awesome. I like that i‘m always in a Good Mood After your Videos because you are 🤘🏻 Keep going, greetz from germany!
This Pantera tribute show really is something to see live!! Flew in to Amsterdam from Glasgow and was worth every bit of the trip. I’d say you should definitely be on that list Ola 🤘🏼🔥🏴
I would kill someone to have that guitar featured in the pic/graffitti segment!! Lol..not really, but wouldn't it be cool!! Glad to hear that Phil is doing well. Of couse YOU was in the list for Pantera, Ola!!
Getting on the list of replacements for the Legend that was DIME. Amazing. He had no equal, but nice to see Zakk is more comfortable with the spot. The band is having fun, and the tunes deserve to live. It's a great thing, especially for those that never got to see one of the GOAT metal bands. I think the bros are smiling. They have no worries now.
Very much looking forward to seeing Pantera next month, and I count myself lucky that I got to see them a handful of times with Dime and Vinny as well. That's a *massive* compliment for you to have been in the conversation to play guitar for them. That would be like me being considered to tour with Metallica, and I can't even imagine how amazing that knowledge must make you feel. Congrats for that, you deserve to be proud.
First thing I do Sunday morning, sit on the toilet, and watch Sunday with Ola
Hey I am also sitting in the toilet, maybe ola will be very happy
Currently sitting on the toilet as well
Good planning! Two turds one flush. Just kidding Ola. We love you, ya tarnished Sweed! 💚🤘

Don't worry, The Chug Project will be up in the coming week! I'll link it here when it's up
Hey ola whst you think of the wolfgang guitars?
Will today's song be on it? I hope so, shit was killer....
@@Ghaosthat track today was killer! 🤟🏻 😎
$7k is sick... but in the worst possible way.
When will the left handed Type-X project be up?

Sounds like zack is settled in and comfortable. His tone and solos were 10 times better than the last footage I saw of the tribute.
