AU where there’s one final iteration where the whole thing stopped after they break Steph out and everyone lives happy without Habit and Slenderman and the Rake. Or AU where HABIT isn’t a murderer and it’s just a story about a group of guys trying to teach their new weird demon friend how to be normal.
Wow, EMH is like a Lovecraft story only with a heart. You still have us puny humans doing our best to resist the inevitable triumph of callous elder gods, but I never fucking cried at the end of The Colour of Space or The Call of Cthulu. I wept buckets at the end of EMH. I wanted Vinny to have total liberation not just yet another incremental victory, but I suppose another iteration means living to fight another day. Thanks, guys, for being a part of my life for eight years. I first started watching when my daughter was in elementary school and she'll graduate high school in two years. That's how long this story has been a part of me. I believe in you, Vinny, my old friend. I know the next time will be the charm for you even though I won't get to witness it for myself. Go and kick HABIT's ass like I know you can.
EverymanHYBRID deserves a lot of credit for having an actual ending, unlike almost everything else you’ve covered other than Marble Hornets, Jack Torrance and debatably a few others
my peepee hurted That’s my point, about 65% of ARGs never actually end. Most of the time there aren’t answers or explanations given, but EMH actually did end up giving us those answers and solved nearly all of the mysteries in the show. Not a lot of ARGs do that and I think it’s great that EMH did
Tribetwelve is not over and the creator is still working on videos. Give him credit where it’s due as well. He makes great effects and he’s all alone doing it.
I still remember being told about EMH shortly before the rabbits thing, and feeling like I had a ton to dig through if I wanted to catch up before it ended. Meanwhile seven years later...
Thanks for all the memories EMH! I know Slender Man isn't that popular in my country, but still i would never cease to tell my friends about the tales from the Habit and Slendy.
So I don't know if this is common knowledge or if it was already commented on earlier, but in the Audio Tower on the Lake, the voice talking refers to the 'one who will break the cycle and is making good progress toward this.' I'm pretty sure he was referring to Noah of TribeTwelve (A series that is still technically ongoing btw) and this he also confirmed that Noah is also a part of the cycle of rebirth. I'm wondering if the creators teamed up to come up with a connected ending of sorts, I know they have talked and had story pieces that overlap (James Cornthaw) so yeah. Just thought I'd point this out
I'm glad someone pointed this out! I'm actually surprised there isn't more speculation about this, honestly. We're hopefully getting more TribeTwelve content soon, if Adam's Twitter is anything to go by, and the Operator and the Collective have always been the main antagonists of the story there (so long as you don't take into account Noah being his own worst enemy). The collaborations between the two channels gave me the creeping feeling that when the guy from the Tower on the Lake audio said that it would be someone else who would break the cycle, it had something to do with Noah. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that they got together and decided that it was best to end EMH with Habit. while leaving Noah to deal with the Operator and the ultimate end of...well, just about everything.
I'm just glad there's some hope in the future. I mean the ending where the EMH crew just die and continue to the next iteration forever doomed to live in this endless cycle was depressing as hell.
@@winter9635 I agree. It definitely makes me hope that Tribetwelve will provide us with a big finale that will give us proper closure on Slender Man, The Collective, and HABIT, because while I can appreciate the ending to EMH, it still leaves me wanting to see a proper resolution to this whole iteration cycle.
I think this is a bit more fair The Old Big Three: Marble Hornets Tribetwelve Everymanyhybird The Old Saga: Marble Hornets Tribe twelve Everymanyhybird. DakrHarvast MlAnderson And I lm sure I missed more but I think that considered the big 5 Now...we need new ones. A new generation of actors and story it was truly the end of an Era
I still don’t really understand the why behind everything? Are they just bored gods playing with their toys? Is it some sort of food for them? What’s the relationship between the HABIT and the Man? How did they come to encounter each other? What is the HABIT?
I think most of your questions are supposed to be left unanswered. It looses its aura if it was, at least in my eyes. One thing is though,is that all 3 (Slenderman,Rake and HABIT) have different goals and reasons of why, all explained throughout the whole series. Slenderman was doing it for a sort of food/energy to keep surviving Rake has a sort of assassination goal for certain characters And HABIT is doing it for fun and entertainment.
@@brianhedley5139 I know, but I'm saying it actually feels like the end of the story we're meant to witness now, itleast for me. Nick's explained series began to feel connected to the EMH series' experience.
Evan/habit is literally the reason I wear hawaiian shirts. Hes so well acted and potrayed and such an influence on me fashion wise (which is weird? considering its such a simple get up) Props evan for making habit such an amazing character and acting him in a way that really hits
I never did see Habit as a monster. Even assuming Habit's immortality wasn't all a lie, he comes across more like a thing that stared too long into the Abyss.
I always saw Habit as more of an allegory that something being 'right' or 'justifiable' isn't a hard set line. That circumstance, experience, belief, and environment can become more important than morals or compassion in people once they reach a breaking point, and that people who cross that line often can't cross back over into the previous, more civilized mindset.
I'm not crying I'm ugly crying. What an awful horrible amazing wonderful ride it's been these last 8 years. And thank you Nick for filling in all the loose ends. Now it's up to someone else to pick up the slack and make a series we will reminence over fondly in another 8 years.
One thing i'd like to Nick to have explained deeper was WHY Evan totally was all about giving into what HABIT wanted and kill Vinnie, since it seemed that Vinnie had no intention of killing Evan iniially, also just who was that guy who seems to be a part of the iteration cycle but actually remembers every version of himself? I felt like Nick just largely had this one on cruise control without doing a lot of actual break downs or explanation
@@AnakhaSilver To be fair, I also didn't quite make that connection. Nick did kind of gloss over a lot of things, and the explaining and even theorizing was kind of absent. Although perhaps that was because the first BeyondEMH QnA video had yet to come out or something. Either way, while there was a lot of good stuff here, he didn't address any of the unanswered questions or loose ends.
He didn't beat Habit though.... He won. Habit got what he wanted which was change. Yes there's some hints with the after stuff that they might have a better chance next iteration but honestly even that is still slim. But the beautiful thing is though is even in the face of adversity they fight. That's also the difference between them and the one who remembers everything and has given up
They already showed you the end of the iteration... way back when. Remember when they were sitting around lightning candles? That was it, that was the end.
Not gonna lie Nick, the stadium comparisons at the end really put a lot of things in perspective. Crazy to think about it a project could get that solid connection.
habit remind me of a insane abusive roommate instead of a monster all of the sudden... lmao and vinnie like... "hey habit..." like he's charley brown in the situation hahaha
I got a feeling that we ain't seen the last of the EMH crew...after all, they have a loose end to tie up now don't they? There is an old friend that they parted ways with a while back. One that's been on his own journey solo for a while, with only himself to help. They have a god killer...and he has a different weapon. The Severance. The Severance and the North Star...and a Firebrand with no strings controlling him. I would not be suprised if EMH pays Slendy a little visit to fuck up his plans for Noah.
I'm sorry but every time the north star is mentioned I can only think of fist of the north star which leads my brain to Kenshiro having a big battle with the operator.
Game Nuked nah they told people on stream that EMH is over. It is a possibility, sure. But I don’t think it’s gonna happen. Maybe more focus will be put on tribe twelve and I think they’ll play a part there. But that’s it.
Love that Habit's favorite pokemon is Haunter. I've not seen a single person acknowledge it, but each time you see that pokemon, it means Habit is possessing Evan. No haunter, no Habit. A small detail but neat nonetheless
Because Vinny had long since been broken by Habit. Remember the whole " I'm a good boy I can sit" scene. Plus he's kinda a pussy who didn't have it in him from the start
This was the series that got me to subscribe to you. I'd always been curious about the story, but couldn't keep track of the multitude of angles that the story was being delivered in, and found myself frustrated out of trying to find all of it, especially being slightly late to the party at the time. Your series helped me to understand and truly appreciate the plot, and made it one of my favorite web series out there. Thank you for helping me step onto this path, and thank you for the graceful sendoff. :D
I cried so much when I watch the ending for the first time to this day the line "We are not monsters we are just two unlucky bastards" guess to me in a way that is hard to explain, for me EverymanHYBRID it's one of the best things on UA-cam and I am always going to be glad for having the change to experience such a badass journey
Nick in every endcap video: "I strongly suggest you watch the full thing as this is a bare bones recap" Also Nick: Proceeds to explain the details of the video far better than I would have understood it.
Imagine a movie actor working on the same movie for a similar amount of time- it’s been done, but it’s always lauded, rightly, as a supreme amount of devotion to their craft. Now imagine them not just acting in it, but writing it. And then, not just acting in it and writing it, but filming it. Add to that the time it took to download, answer questions and emails, etc- that is some legendary devotion to a project, and as many times as I picked bits of it apart and criticized it, I really was honestly impressed by all of the work that went into this. These guys did an amazing job. And- NightMind, holy shit! You have made a work of art out of exploring and explaining a work of art- and did seemingly as much work as the creators of EMH themselves. Thank you for sharing all of- of THIS- with us. You rock.
Over the last month of quarantine I've been watching this series of videos intensely, the first in this series popping up on my youtube recommendations a few days after the stay at home order was put in place. I started watching emh along with these videos, and i've become extremely attached to the characters. as a semi retired actor and writer, this series has brought out something in me that i really needed during this time. even though i wasnt with this series from beginning to end, i feel sort of... strange now that its over. thank you for making this and bringing emh to my attention. it has really been a joy to watch
Helluva ride been here since the start and I'm glad it ended, after all, "All good things must come to an end. - There is an end to everything, to good things as well." -Dwight Harvey Addendum: Thank you Night Mind for your dedication to the series and explaining it in the detail most of us needed.
It feels like Stephanie took on the actual role of Everyman from the play, in the end. Yeah, she was attached, but she wasn't part of Habit's story - she was part of Slenderman's entertainment. Habit's additions - Vinny, Evan, and Jeff - were the roles that he made for -his- story, taken from the play that Slenderman wanted and twisted into something else at the same time. It really makes the rivalry between Slenderman and Habit less about the entertainment and more about owning the script, which just gets that much more disturbing with the end.
This was the first long form ARG that I ever followed and all because I watched your Alantutorial video and had to see more like it and started watching your EMH vids. Also pretty much the first 45+ minute videos I ever regularly sat down and watched all the way through. All this to say that both EMH and your coverage of their story have been a fun and interesting part of my life for years now and I want to thank you for that! As many have said, truly feels like the end of an era.
Still not sure why Vinny set up cameras to spy on the guys and insist on pushing through the Slender Man issue when he knew it was bad? Was he just being so narcissistic and controlling that he thought it would be a good time or was there some greater agenda involved?
yeah i'd like to know that too, it sorta seemed like this video was sort of short on the actual explanation aspect of the series, and just kind of a summing up. I guess it's because he was fulfilling his role as the Voyeur but even still
Yeah honestly this ending makes no sense. From what we know about the cycles, they would have been killed no matter what. I dont understand how Vinnie's insistence on investigating it on film was that big of a sin that Evan wanted to kill him for it.
I believe the twist is that he's been helping habit since way before. Habit wanted to have this cicle be a show and that what used vinny for, thats why he was so pushy with keeping uploading videos, and those cameras, after all he is the voyeur.
I believe it would have something to do with them wanting the audience to "stop watching". Perhaps habit feeds off of these videos and cameras set up by vinny?
Your channel is what introduced me to EMH only 3 weeks ago! Even tho im 8 years late, between watching the og content and your explained vids, I am so glad I got into it! Huge thanks to you and EverymanHYBRID. 💙
He's best in the scenes where he speaks directly to the camera. I was actually scared of him, which is an accomplishment given he doesn't have a threatening physicality.
Habit is just such a delightfully cheesy character, but also so good at the same time with nuances. He´s literally the Palpatine of EMH I love him so much
I find it amazing that I remember watching these during high school. Now I'm an adult a few years after college and it's finally done. It feels like moving on from something important to me, even though I haven't watched it in so long, nor have I been very engaged with it over the past few years. It's great to be a part of something like this, which some of our generation will remember as something truly evocative of the 2010s era of the Internet.
Nick. Thank you. I found a love for horror and online story telling because of your vids of everyman hybrid and all of the slender series. I would never have known such an epic story. Thank you nick for this and all the love you given this series
Finally found time to sit down and watch, I haven't been this emotional over EMH since i watched the ending itself all those months ago. Congrats man, Everything you said i couldn't agree more with how just amazing this journey has been, The best 8 years!!
Let me just highlight my favorite conversation and the reason why i love Habit as a character(excluding him being ofc a sadistic killer but eh 😂): 18:35 Habit:"Your people for centuries, what did they look towards for guidenece?" J:"Maps n shit" Habit:"Okay, before maps?" J:"The internet" Habit: " Dont be a cunt." J: "the stars" Habit:" the stars. and what is the most important star?-" J:"-the s-" Habit:"dont say the fucking sun,do not say the godam sun, the other one godam, yknow, the other one ,yknow who im fuckin talkin about-" J:"-the north star." Habit: "thank you very much the north star, you litlle shit, the north star, that little twinkler is our fucking key" J:" and hows that?" Habit: " eh, ill tell you later."
I find incredible that I went from a high school student to a actually college level worked in the span of years that EMH took to finish. It's bittersweet, both the ending and the fact that is over, but I really enjoyed the ride. Can't wait to see how Tribe twelve will end.
Man, years well invested. A wonderful project. I've actually got into NightMind because of this series, and thanks to that I discovered that ARG as an art expression is a thing. I'm glad that I followed it 'til the end.
Habit is just... so good. And I wonder how much was written before hand and how much was improved by Evan in the moment. Lines like "And what's the most important star? ... DO NOT SAY THE GOD DAMN SUN" and "Buck up! I'm taking the Reese's!" are fucking classic.
NIck, i dont want to sound rude or like those guys in the pescopt video. and maybe it was because i didnt see the whole series but; i dont feel that you explained the ending. there where a ton of things on all good things that i hoped youd explain; but you went in more of a(tangent, subject?) about why the series is cool; which is also good. but i sort of left as in the dark as i came
I'm inclined to agree. I chalk it up to quick turn-around of an insanely long project (granted much of that was raw EverymanHYBRID footage which also slightly annoyed me on a conceptual level but I appreciated because I was not able to watch the series as it came out so binging the necessary videos would have been way more of a hassle than I'd have been willing to deal with). Hopefully at some point Nick will address this and do a follow-up that *actually* explains the ending once he's had time to think about it and compile it. I know it's been over a year since this video was uploaded, but I can dream lol.

I mean at it's core the series is basically just Slenderman and Habit playing chess lol...
EverymanHYBRID deserves a lot of credit for having an actual ending, unlike almost everything else you’ve covered other than Marble Hornets, Jack Torrance and debatably a few others
lol tribe twelve didn't end yet, not everything on his channel ended
my peepee hurted
That’s my point, about 65% of ARGs never actually end. Most of the time there aren’t answers or explanations given, but EMH actually did end up giving us those answers and solved nearly all of the mysteries in the show.
Not a lot of ARGs do that and I think it’s great that EMH did
EMH is over but the cycle now restarts so they could do this again with another team of people
Tribetwelve is not over and the creator is still working on videos. Give him credit where it’s due as well. He makes great effects and he’s all alone doing it.
MH ended, no? Maybe I need to go back and re-watch it. And Jack Torrance... What a waste
The only true explanation is that the whole thing was just viral marketing for the Habit burger chain.
_it all makes sense now_
Advertisements have come along way, and are still as scary as ever
Man, what a ride! This is the first arg that I've took part AND seen from NM. And now its all ended, I just wanna say thank you for all the hard work.

Holy shit, at least someone in this thing is pointing out something that isn’t “Evans sad, hungry, now they’re in the woods, here’s the scene.”
So does that mean noah is gonna win this for everyone? I think it could be since he has the help of his powerful future self.

Slenderman was doing it for a sort of food/energy to keep surviving
Rake has a sort of assassination goal for certain characters
And HABIT is doing it for fun and entertainment.
And that’s the problem. Habit is just evil because...evil. And the acting is the worst attempt at a slow syllabary Nolan Joker I’ve ever seen.
That's what happens when they focus more on ripping off Ledger's Joker instead of the plot.

Alanna Woods I agree, however I feel like he enjoyed staring into the abyss after a while

Plot twist: its been a workout channel the entire time. Teaching you the importance of a good jog daily
Several times Vinny just walks away from Slenderman
One thing i'd like to Nick to have explained deeper was WHY Evan totally was all about giving into what HABIT wanted and kill Vinnie, since it seemed that Vinnie had no intention of killing Evan iniially, also just who was that guy who seems to be a part of the iteration cycle but actually remembers every version of himself? I felt like Nick just largely had this one on cruise control without doing a lot of actual break downs or explanation
if i recall correctly the guy who remembers every iteration was patrick from MLAndersen0
Yeah he didn’t really explain anything tbh
...Evan found out that Vinny was using them to get Slendy more victims, dude. Given his anger issues, I can't blame him. that one seemed obvious.
@@MrLegendofLP Probably because the EMH crew didn't answer the questions. He can't pull a true answer out of his ass if it's not there.
This kinda leaves out the ending of the iteration. The gang being reunited, Vinny beating habit, I was so excited to hear your take on it :(
He didn't beat Habit though.... He won. Habit got what he wanted which was change. Yes there's some hints with the after stuff that they might have a better chance next iteration but honestly even that is still slim. But the beautiful thing is though is even in the face of adversity they fight. That's also the difference between them and the one who remembers everything and has given up
Habit wanted Vinny to kill Evan then die, and that's exactly what happened.
They already showed you the end of the iteration... way back when. Remember when they were sitting around lightning candles? That was it, that was the end.

That would be interesting
I'm sorry but every time the north star is mentioned I can only think of fist of the north star which leads my brain to Kenshiro having a big battle with the operator.
Dude kenshiro would fuck up the operator! Hell he’d fuck up habbit, AND the operator at the same time!

Game Nuked nah they told people on stream that EMH is over. It is a possibility, sure. But I don’t think it’s gonna happen. Maybe more focus will be put on tribe twelve and I think they’ll play a part there. But that’s it.

- There is an end to everything, to good things as well." -Dwight Harvey
Addendum: Thank you Night Mind for your dedication to the series and explaining it in the detail most of us needed.
I think it was answers for the sake of answers at the expense of everything else.
honestly i really love the fact that at this point vinnie and habit are basically jus a goofy comedy duo

I love that Act 3 is just Vinny and his homicidal roommate
Honestly this felt more like a recap than an explanation.
