My thoughts EXACTLY. If you're on the second floor, that's one thing, but having your first floor bedroom blinds open at night is unhinged. Especially if you're being haunted!
I will note that the animal sounds? Coyote packs make those noises when they've caught a meal. It didn't simply increase in volume, but in numbers. It sounded as though there were hundreds of coyotes.
Can confirm, grew up in the middle of nowhere and coyotes do sound like that. However a detail that is notable is that one coyote can sound like 2-3 coyotes at once.
That's immediately what I thought too. I live out in the country and I have to make sure my cat's indoors every night. But I've never heard that many at once.
Of course it is. Most people go ghost hunting for the thrill. They don't really expect there to be an agent of the paranormal out there for them to catch. It's like a dog chasing a car and actually catching up to it.

@@Aster_Risk Key words are "for an ARG". Yes, this isn't one of the best acting ARGs out there, but normally the quality of this genre is on the floor, so yeah, for an ARG it's pretty good.
Okay, am I seriously the only one who couldn’t see anything in the window? Hearing NM talk about clearly seeing a skull and horns made me feel like I was going crazy when I couldn’t see anything at all.
N01R^+ seems code for Number 1 Riley Fan/Follower. At least, that's how it seems from his obsession over Riley. And David seems pretty fond of Riley too. Being the cameraman, he would be in possession of much of the footage.
I like the use of Peter's character, you can tell he goes from supportive to pushy quickly when he thinks he's right and he talks over her consistently when he pushes her. He even twists her apprehensions around, it's a good use of a manipulative character that isn't portrayed as cartoon villain stuff. He's a dick, but not an unrealistic one.
Yeah he is kinda a dick. But tbh If I was a ghost investigator and I have been blessed by seeing and recording that clear of an apparitions I wouldn’t wanna quit even if there was possible harm. Thou I prolly wouldn’t push someone else. If you don’t wanna be the person that will prove ghosts are real then that’s your lost and so be it 🤷😂
Also, in the prison episode the camera briefly focuses on a mural of prophet Daniel when the guys visit the chapel. Daniel had the ability to interpret dreams and recieve different visions. I dunno if there's a connection there, but it's an interesting detail considering Riley's dreams.
@@blumiu2426 While that is 100% true, in the context of the series it seems more to point towards parallelism/symbolism, so OP isn't exactly *wrong* here. I thinks it's a very clever point actually. Although, spitballing in a more *accuracy* based state of mind, maybe Riley's abilities aren't her own either. Who knows?
I was really impressed with the acting in this. Riley and Peter's conversation / arguement felt so natural and unscripted, especially the interruptions and subject changing and awkward laughs.
I love how much of their evidence, especially early on, is the kind of thing that could be explained- vague shapes, claiming to feel cold, etc. It makes it way easier to buy into the idea of them as actual real-life ghost hunters instead of actors when they’re producing some genuinely mediocre and dismissible “evidence” amongst the story-related scares.
My bet is that she is crying out Mia because the thing attacking her USED TO BE MIA. That is the only logical reason i can think of shouting out a name of someone while being attacked, if they werent there with you beforehand.
Plot twist: Horned dude turns out to be Baphomet who has a holiday home nearby and came by to make sure everything was alright. Just because you're a demon lord doesn't mean you can't be a good neighbor.
I have a theory that Mia is actually a spirit/entity that Riley has grown up with and that the others don't actually know her, Riley just plays it off as her sister. Either Riley is calling out for Mia to help her in the end, or maybe Mia was 'corrupted' by the stuff they were messing with.
WOW! I was part of the production of paranormal paranoids and to see this being made into a investigative story on youtube makes us all so proud. Please support their content and keep spreading these videos!
For some reason, the thing that my wife and I find most unsettling in paranormal type videos is rattling doors and slamming doors. It’s such an angry and negative sound, and it’s probably an artifact of abuse from our childhoods. But yeah- even more so than catching a glimpse of some furtive entity, or the panic when you realize that something was there The Whole Time (!!!), it’s the not necessarily paranormal sound of a simple household door. (I guess it goes for locker doors, bathroom stall doors, etc- but it’s usually just a door in someone’s home.)
Yeah, I get that. Whenever me and my boyfriend sit down to watch horror movies or ARG stuff, it always seems to be more disturbing. I also find it more distressing when there *isn't* some monster revealed with the doorslam, because it just leaves my mind wondering what exactly the thing doing that looks like. And often I do find the reveals disappointing for that same reason.
@@thegumonyourshoes I can totally relate, with that disappointment! I do want SOME kind of payoff- I’m watching a horror story for a reason, after all. 😉
I'm the same way, usually. I'm used to shouting and doors slamming and the like, and while I can be easily frightened by monsters and ghosts, simple things like slamming doors, like you mentioned, can really freak me out. It means there's tension, that someone's upset and they're gonna let you know it. It bothers me. :')
Riley is one of the few people in horror media that actually goes out of her way to find a decent item they can use to defend themselves with. The knife is still pretty small, but it could be worse.
21:06 - Fair play to the creators for doing every 'paranormal thing caught on film' video that showed up on youtube in the early 2000's. That is some dedication to the format worthy of a chef kiss.
The prison they visit is the Ohio State Reformatory, or Mansfield Reformatory, it is a historical site in Mansfield, Ohio. The Shawshank Redemption was filmed there, it was also used as the Russian prison in Air Force One. They give tours in that part of the prison, behind it is a still working prison. Even in the middle of the day it's a pretty creepy location.
I'm really not so sure it's ORF. It doesn't look quite right to me. At the very least, they're fictionalizing the stories and using incorrect locations to explain solitary. Which sort of tracks to me because a lot of the cases they're investigating just can't be confirmed.
Late reply to this thread but I took a tour there super recently and can confirm that it does look like the same building. I even remember hearing the story about the ghosts in the uppermost floor (the floor that the maximum security prisoners briefly stayed while their prison was being rebuild) ((very cool story)) and how they supposedly like to listen to Johnny Cash. Was super cool to see an ARG that’s so similar to things that I’ve experienced!
i’m at that part right now and my blood is boiling because i know exactly what it’s like to be spoken to like that when i’m talking about things that are really stressful to me fhsjfhjdj
My first arg I ever watched was marble hornets and it was scary and anxiety inducing but also intriguing and fun to solve the mystery. This arg gives me that same feeling and I hope that the film keeps that feeling as well.
My theory? Mia is Noire. She's psychic too, but far stronger and more self aware, and she knew what trouble Riley was getting herself into. Tried to discourage it. But what she expected came to pass, and now she's warning others, or maybe simply enjoying the game. Definitely getting malicious vibes from the sister, so maybe when she couldn't dissuade Riley, she decided to teach her (and now, us) a lesosn.
As soon as you mentioned Chris, I smiled. Yeah, Stuckmann definitely gets it. It won't be a high-budget adaptation, but it'll come from someone who's got heart and soul to spare for a project like this. As for criticisms, though - if I'd been in Riley's shoes, I would've disclosed my being a medium or otherwise sensitive from the get-go. I get that it sets up internal tension and the potential for questions in need of being asked, but in the case of something like Paranormal Paranoids, it likely should have been mentioned - if only so the friends get to sort of mock her the way friends can. That would've felt more natural to me. Like someone else said, vlogging past nightfall in front of old, bare windowpanes? Yeah, that's basically begging for some careful prop staging or basic VFX work. The horns and skull were spooky enough but again - it kind of detracted from what could've been a more natural vlogging setup. Almost everybody's got something to cover their windows with, even if it's just a spare sheet nailed or pinned to the windowframe.
I can't help having brief flashes of 'don't mess around with the spooky stuff' whenever I watch something like this. 'This is the sight of thirteen gruesome deaths all under mysterious circumstances. One notice from whatever this was and I'm dead. Imma poke it.'
>Opens door >Hears spooky spirit down the hall >Only closes door after the lights turn off >It's beating on the door >DOESN'T MOVE THE NIGHTSTAND IN FRONT OF THE DOOR It's like she WANTS to die AND THEN SHE GOES TO OPEN THE DOOR WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH HER
@@teekay851To be fair, she could've been recording herself as like a diary. I don't think that guy in the window wouldn't notice or ignore her "friend".
is it just me, or did anyone else think of the theme from "The Spooky Bunch" when they heard the Paranormal Paranoids opening music? Seriously, this has some promise - And yes, this is fresh and original enough to be a new direction for ARGs. Oh, one other point - Mia is not just a name, it's an acronym for Missing n Action.
I got the feeling that Mia was no longer alive. The woman was psychic after all. That would explain why she was surprised by her using the camera. I think the place is where something happened with her and Mia, resulting in Mia's death - some kind of demon worship/cult activity event.
If you go frame by frame around 21:02 ish, you can clearly see the ghost standing on the right already looking at them. He basically did the ghoul equivalent of a cough to get someone's attention since they all blatantly walked past him without so much as a word xD
I'm still skeptical about Shelby Oaks tbh, I saw Notes From Melanie and Stuckmann doesn't seem to be good at tone and directing dialogue. But if he's the director of all of these found footage videos, then I'm a bit more hopeful, that final scene with the man at the window and the rising chorus of animal noises and screeches was really effective. Regardless, it's always great to see youtubers go from youtube to making movies organically.
I loved Reignbot's coverage of this, so I'm very glad you took it on. Your exacting eye for details pairs very well with her breakdown of Riley's mental state throughout the "surviving" videos.
@@DrowningPonyo See, that's the thing. Frame by frame analysis? Night Mind. Film technique? Night Mind. Emotional impact, and the family backstory? Reignbot. Story analysis? Both. So what are you most interested in, I suppose: monsters/paranormal intrusions? Or a vaguely disturbing set of personal relationships?
It's actually crazy coming back to this out of the blue after watching it two years ago only to discover that Shelby Oaks, the movie, actually releases TOMORROW. Like that's some spooky coincidence.
the beast in the window is genuinely one of the scariest things i’ve ever seen in an unfiction series. it’s barely noticeable but one you see it you can’t deny it’s there. it’s so terrifying looking, especially the horns. when it turns it’s head i got shivers.
I love your attention to detail. You've pointed out many things that the other deep dives left out. Not a knock on them, just showing appreciation to my favorite "Dark Party" member.
I love the idea of an arg where they film paranormal stuff and use paranormal things to cover up the reality of an actual, real murder plot. Probably not where it’s headed, but it makes me super excited.
The presence of the wendigo could either be drawn by Peter’s greed or it could be affecting him somehow to get her there. I bring this up since the wendigo is a spirit of not only of cannibalism but also greed. What it could want with Riley I’m not sure, maybe it has a need for her or it could simply be drawn to her, but I feel certain that Peter’s disregard for Riley’s worries could be influenced by the Wendigo.
Was not expecting an inspirational monologue in the middle of the video. It gave me chills and made me cry a little. As someone who dropped out of art school because I simply could not stand making the art that others told me to do, it hit me on a very deep level. It also helped me smile on a day that I really needed it. Thank you for that.

the videos for Paranormal Paranoids give me such nostalgia for another paranormal series i was obsessed with as a kid. i'm not sure how many others know about this series, but it's a book series called "Skeleton Creek" by Patrick Carmen. the series is told by two perspectives, the books that play as a diary for the male lead, and a series of locked videos that are filmed by the female lead. the two of them pair together to piece the paranormal legends of their own, with each piece of information only making you want to dig in more. i HIGHLY recommend it for anyone else who love a good puzzle of media to solve.
I like to listen to background noise/music while i’m drawing, and night mind’s channel has been really interesting and entertaining to listen to in the background!

There is other things about the video that just do not fit the time that's being talked bout. They tried to hide it better than most. That sound of animals screaming outside the house of the `last message` video - I am Almost 100% certain that that audio was used in an episode of Paranormal State where (I believe) someone had built a house in the woods, using a bunch of trees from there and nature didn`t like it or something like that. N01R^+ seems code for Number 1 Riley Fan/Follower. At least, that's how it seems from his obsession over Riley. And David seems pretty fond of Riley too. Being the cameraman, he would be in possession of much of the footage.
I can't unsee that, that's what it looks like
I like the use of Peter's character, you can tell he goes from supportive to pushy quickly when he thinks he's right and he talks over her consistently when he pushes her. He even twists her apprehensions around, it's a good use of a manipulative character that isn't portrayed as cartoon villain stuff. He's a dick, but not an unrealistic one.
I hated peter SO MUCH
Yeah he is kinda a dick.
Daniel was given a vision FROM God and was told what the King of Babylon's dream was by an angel. No ability of his own.
@@blumiu2426 While that is 100% true, in the context of the series it seems more to point towards parallelism/symbolism, so OP isn't exactly *wrong* here. I thinks it's a very clever point actually.

I have a theory that Mia is actually a spirit/entity that Riley has grown up with and that the others don't actually know her, Riley just plays it off as her sister. Either Riley is calling out for Mia to help her in the end, or maybe Mia was 'corrupted' by the stuff they were messing with.
Holy big brain!!!

Even in the middle of the day it's a pretty creepy location.
those two are the same place it was in mansfield so people call it that sometimes

Seriously, this has some promise - And yes, this is fresh and original enough to be a new direction for ARGs.
Oh, one other point - Mia is not just a name, it's an acronym for Missing n Action.
And, some Monkees...
I got the feeling that Mia was no longer alive. The woman was psychic after all. That would explain why she was surprised by her using the camera. I think the place is where something happened with her and Mia, resulting in Mia's death - some kind of demon worship/cult activity event.

Legit one of my favorite channels on this site. You bring everything I love about the internet straight to my face. ❤️
Something to note about Christ that goes against Night Minds rant against the establishment. Christ Stuckman has made several short films that have made it into festivals and even went to a film school while also being a youtube. I don't know if he finished but to say he appeared out of nowhere or that he did not grind for many years.
Even then this is not a major film and if you know about the industry there is no gatekeeping and instead, anyone can and does make features.
dude ur passionate little rant near the end there gave me life like THANK U as a writer (not in horror or nonfiction but that's neither here nor there) and aspiring SUCCESSFUL one lmao, and one who has no "professional" background but who loves what he does more than anything, it's just so good to hear someone else say what i also feel, and just, yeah lol thank u bro, we need more ppl like u
this reminds me of when i used to break into abandoned buildings (most of which were said to be haunted, though i never believed in ghosts so i didn't mind) either with friends or alone, and one time i took two friends to break into an old train station thing that hadn't been used in over 3 decades. a calendar from 2021 sitting on a table inside should've been a clear sign to leave, but instead i kept going, leaving my freaked out friends to wait for me outside, and i realised that there was a homeless man living inside there. i'm guessing he broke in through the back door while i did so from the front. never ran so quickly. also stopped exploring abandoned buildings for a few months.
impressive arg, and it's amazing how it actually could resemble a real event
9:48 the last bit of the intro here ends with an explosion or something in space. Chris Stuckmann also has a very similar intro with a space explosion for the videos I watched.
That sound of animals screaming outside the house of the `last message` video - I am Almost 100% certain that that audio was used in an episode of Paranormal State where (I believe) someone had built a house in the woods, using a bunch of trees from there and nature didn`t like it or something like that. They "recorded" those sounds and claimed that it was the spirits of the woods gathering or something, I don`t remember exactly.
But again, I am almost certain that it`s the same audio.
Yeah I cannot wait to see how this turns out. I have wondered for years when someone would take the Blair Witch approach to marketing as it made the film all the more "real". The mockumentaries were great, the website, this honestly is the next evolutionary step and I cannot wait to see it all unfold. Nick again I love your channel and being able to go and check out all these other creators channels. Keep all six eyes open for what's next.
please, please, PLEASE do a breakdown/ deep dive of gemini home entertainment! i know there’s some other “explained” videos on it, but imo they didn’t do it justice like i know you would! i’m so bad at this stuff and i can’t find any time lines online or anything explaining the website, the alt website, the new videos on the “cillian chamberlain” channel, the whole video game, plus whatever else is out there i don’t know about! tbh i’m surprised you haven’t yet, it’s just so good and very unique as far as the analog horror genre goes. ofc i’ll be grateful for whatever you decide to put out on your channel, just thought i’d shoot my shot lol
If the movie was planned all along that makes this a marketing campaign
