- In this battle report, I try out some of my Chain of Command Great War rules for fighting platoon actions during the First World War. In this I try out the Trench Raiding ideas.

Having played a few 1WW games I’ve found them to be absolutely brutal. Played both British and Germans and had a bad time with each game. Thought this might even out as the British had one squad less, if you add artillery to create pre shock it lacks the element of surprise. I think the the defenders need to have to spot before shooting to give the attackers a bit more of a chance.
Interesting game and rules
I love using CoC die points in this fashion. This is also reminiscent of my last game…leader down and all downhill afterwards!
I really need to get around to watching yours and Tabletop CP's Chain of Command how to play videos.
Yes, you should.
Weird, I had been thinking about trench raiding. Great minds huh? I can't wait to see your set up. I'd been reading about Rommel in WW1 which has given me some ideas. Thanks Alex
You're welcome!
Great game Alex! As always!👍👍👍
Thank you!
Wonder if Saps might be a useful support option. Maybe let you adjust a JOP
Hi there Alex - I may be being Mr. OCD here but ... at 28:43 the loss was said to be "Germans lose by 1" - whereas I think it should've been "Germans lose by 2" (9 kills to 7 kills). Or did I miss something ? I LOVE Chain of Command, so thanks for another great video btw ! :)
Cheers, glad you enjoyed it. TBH, I can't remember what happened, I probably just misspoke.
@@StormofSteelWargaming I really did enjoy the game. I think your ChoC WW1 rules supplement is coming along nicely. :) Has "Big Rich" Clarke seen the latest version yet ?? (Sorry for being Mr. Picky btw !).
@@johnbland5731 No worries, I get it all the time. The problem is, I usually don't watch these videos after I've edited them, and they have usually been recorded long before they are published, so I generally have completely forgotten what I did or said in any of them... Yeah, I've sent him a copy, but he's very busy with other projects at the moment...
Nice video!!, where do you get the miniatures?
Thanks, they are mostly Peter Pig and Battlefront.
@@StormofSteelWargaming thanks!!
Trench raids were often a nocturnal affair. Worth adjusting for that? Although this was pretty close quarters stuff! I think some handsome genius wrote an article on lt in the Lard Mag ;)
This was more of a demonstration of where the rules are at the moment than adding more in.
Very interesting battle report , will you be publishing your amendments? ?lard magazine thanks clive
That's the plan! But I'm not sure where yet.
